[Q] troubles with recovery(code) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
my friend changed his password to the phone, but of course he forgot it..
I thougt that a wipe and a new rom could do it.
I've struggled with it a long time now..
I can flash cwm recovery - ok
I have tried du download a ICS stock rom, and flashed it with odin. it gets stuck at the samsung logo.
Then i tried to flash a Gingerbread stock rom. then i asks for the code again.
I flashed a new .PIT-file
When I flash the gingerbread rom, it still have the same background as before.
My question is how to I get rid of ALL data on the phone? internal sd-card and so?
some data must have survied the data wipe/dalvik wipe in CWM
what to do?
There is no ext. sd-card
phone is af gt-i9100 intl. version

when the ICS stock rom gets stuck at the samsung logo :
* Boot into recovery mode to do this press and hold Home + Volume UP + Power and your mobile phone will boot into recovery.
* From the recovery screen, Go to Factory Reset and Wipe cache one-by-one and confirm both.
* Now, Go back and select “reboot system now”.

hello
thank you for your answer, but i've tried that.
but how can it be, that the phone remembers the password and backgroun, even after a wipe?

data wipe means that the user-data is deleted
I think that device passwords are saved with the system-data
you should - 'format system', that should do it.
good luck.

Galaxy S2 stuck on glowing S screen

Hello,
I am new here so I apologize if this has been sked before.
I had cm9 stable version installed on my phone, and it was working fine. On Thursday, I changed my lock pattern as it had no lock on, but I forgot the pattern I put in (I tend to make it complicated) and entered it wrong many times that it asked for my google account and password, but when it got to that point, it started rebooting and it got stuck on the cm robot, and whenever it gets to the google account thing, it goes back to the robot and so on. Then I flashed a stock ICS rom using Odin hoping it would fix the issue, but it got stuck on the glowing s screen. The phone isn't rooted anymore. I tried wiping cache partition but that didn't work. My biggest problem is that I didn't back my phone up and I have important files that I need. Is there a way to fix this issue?
I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

If you have CWM installed, you can mount the sdcard in the Mounts and Storage menu, but I don't remember if that sdcard was for internel or external.
Did you try wiping Dalvik cache in Advanced menu (Also CWM)? If you do, wait 5-10min for it to boot up.
Flash Siyah kernel, boot into recovery then mount USB and backup your files.
Then just simply wipe/install the rom zip of your choice.

boot to stock recovery and perform factory data reset.
You will lose, sms, installed apps etc but all data stored on your internal and external SD will be safe

[Q] Help, bootloop after rom update

Hi everyone, i've got a huge problem with my i9300, i've got the foxhound/[email protected] rom since a week, and everything worked fine, i updated once without problems, however today i did the update with usual procedure, but now i've rebooted and i'm stuck on a bootloop after the apps optimizing part, where Android tries to optimize two apps, then open them, but then boot animation starts again over and over.
I tried going into recovery but it did not do anything, so i i tried flashing CWM via Odin, however now if i try starting in recovery only the samsung boot screen shows up and stays there forever.
Please help me

Go in downloadmode and flash a stock rom with Odin. See item 2 and 3 in my signature
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Is it possible to do so without wipe data ? I've got loads of things in there and my precedent Ti backup does not include them

Softbrick after flashing theme - how to restore without losing sd content

Hi,
so I tried to install a new theme and during the install the phone froze. I tried to access the recovery again, but I can't, the phone stucks at galaxy s3 screen. However I can access download mode.
My question is, what do I have to do to keep my SD Card content (like pictures)? Which firmware should I flash? I was on Wanam Lite Rom.
Thanks for Help
Matt

Flashing a theme will not mess your recovery partition so it cannot happen that you have lost recovery..so try again..
Once you are able to boot into recovery flash the ROM which you were using without a wipe first...you will not loose anything..if you face problems then wipe data/factory reset in CWM ..even then you will not loose the data on your internal SD..

I know that it seems strange but I'm not able to access it. I tried to install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844756
on my wanamlite since someone wrote it would work (I did a nandroid backup first). However the installation froze and I had to pull the battery. Since then it won't boot or boot into recovery (the syiah kernel flash screen doesn't show up either).

No link between the custom binary counter and the boot loop.
The last one indicates the number of custom flash on the device, nothing else.
Go to recovery mode (Volume Up + Home + Power) and perform a wipe (cache first and data/cache if boot loop stays here).

You can try "Factory reset". I will delete all cache data (no problem) but also all personnal data (stored into internal phone memory).
But without that, I don't know how you can restart your phone.
Before doing that, can you tell me what firmware have you flash (and what is the previous firmware) ?

You are using two different ROM. Cyanogen and TW (Samsung ROM) doesn't use the same folder/files organisation on Internal SD Card. So, you have two solutions :
1) Flash another time CyanogenMod (the same version that you have already installed) and reboot the phone to make a backup for your data
2) Perform a "Factory reset" to use the stock samsung firmware (XXEMC2 in your case) (but you loose all data store into Internal SD Card).

So what was the fix?
I ended up in the same situation rushing around - I would take a guess that using the stock recovery you did a cache & a factory \ data wipe??
Because that was the fix for me - if it was my own S3 I would have just kept CM! But this was trying to help someone else.

System not responding

[Noob question]
I have a 2 year old Samsung GT-S5282 i just rooted a month ago, by installing CWM 6.0.3.7 and flashing SuperSU 2.07 in it.
I've installed a few root apps that "boosts" the phone's performance.
But a month later i tried rebooting the phone, it passes the boot logo, then it comes across a dialog saying "process system is not responding, do you want to close it?"
I pressed "wait", but then the system crashes and the screen turns off. I tried consecutive battery pulls, wiping cache partition, but no luck, it still crashes on the dialogue screen.
I reckon it's on the kernel, but i'm STILL not sure what is going on.
Can anybody suggest a fix? I really need this phone and i don't want to lose any data.
(I've backed up my personal files, i meant i don't want to lose any internal data that cannot be backed up)
Please.

I guess you are able to reach recovery mode. If yes, then u should connect it with computer. Try installing a custom rom (i would suggest CM11).
Step 1: Installing TWRP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-star/orig-development/recovery-teamwin-recovery-project-3-0-2-t3435364
Step2: Installing a custom rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67870832&postcount=175

Um thank you so much for the suggestion.
But unfortunately when i try to boot to recovery, the stock recovery opens up, not the CWM i flashed.
I tried to flash a fix for it, but it also didn't work.
But i guess flashing a new ROM will be the last option i have, so....do flashing one delete all my data? And if so, can i restore all internal data if ever i'll back it up? Thank you SO much for replying.

Well, then try three button combo (volume-down + home + power) to boot into bootloader and flash TWRP with odin.
No, your files in internal and external storage are not deleted when you format dalvik, cache, system and data partitions.
Edit: volume-down + home + power (boot to bootloader)
volume-up + home + power (boot to recovery)

Okay thanks.
By the way what version of TWRP would work great? (I have XXANF4 stock kernel btw, i still can't access the main screen of the phone after booting up)
And if i wipe system and data partitions will it delete the settings i have on the phone (ex. WiFi connection history, Bluetooth transfer history etc.)?
Thanks again.

Dang it.
Wanted to keep it.
But thanks anyway.
I still can't access the phone. It just boots up, shows the lockscreen, then crashes and automatically reboots, then gets stuck in a bootloop.
I wanted to install a custom rom like you said but i cannot copy the rom files to the sdcard (the phone's still inaccessible).
Any more suggestions? Thanks.

Do a factory reset
Go to advance and format system and data
Then flash Stock Deodex Prerooted rom by akshay
Done
It won't delete anything
Flash cwm for star via odin
Then flash twrp via cwm
Remove ur SD card and using a card reader copy ROM file into SD card.
Mount ur SD card
Then flash the rom

I mean, it deletes all the settings right? Like WiFi hotspots and bluetooth transfer history and every app i have on my phone. I just can't wrap my head around the idea that i will delete all of that just because my phone crashes on passing through the boot screen. . .

So,all I can say is 'do a factory reset'..
Just flash official firmware. The problem was automatically fixed without wiping data.

So i can just normally flash the stock firmware through Odin and Download mode and not wipe data? Is that correct?
