what i meant was that the navigation keys dont correspond to the built in hardware keys, meaning the back nav key is on top of search button, menu nav key on top of back button, recent nav key on top of menu button, only the home key is on top of home button... any solution ?

Vibrate didn't work for me, but then I went to:
Settings->Language & Keyboard->Gingerbread Keyboard settings
Make sure Vibrate on keypress is checked. Then go to Advanced Settings at the top and change Vibration intensity to anything OTHER THAN System default. If you choose light, soft, normal, strong or heavy, they all vibrate on keypresses.
Enjoy!
To small on atrix screen. I wanted it as an option compared to the motorola keyboard to see which one I preffered but this is no contest against the moto. With gingerblur its one or the other so I guess moto keyboard wins

make the keys bigger please

[MOD]UPDATED! Galaxy Nexus on-screen buttons for MiniCM9

I decided to make onscreen buttons for our luvly x8-s.
Note that it only works with MiniCM9-3.0.0, other ICS roms will be supperted soon.
It works now, ready to try DON'T FORGET TO HIT THANKS TO amieow98!! (You can also thank me!)
Screenshot
Changelog:
V0: Conception that didn't really worked.
V1: Works, credits to amieow98.
V2: Now for MiniCM9 3.0.1 too! 2012/5/2
I have enabled on-screen buttons on my MiniCM9(With blue color)
Why do you say its experimental? it is included in the ROM and as far as i've used mine No problems at all.
What? HOW?
So i didn't supposed to mod the framework and work on it for a while??? SH!T.. But IS it really already included in Minicm9-3.0.0?

It IS already included in MiniCM9-3.0.0.
Just change a line of code and done...
But of course..I notice that on the lockscreen(with on-screen buttons enabled)
there is a black bar covering a small part of the lockscreen (The on-screen button one but there's no touchable buttons)
I guess you can try to fix that?

I am VERY sure I'm using MiniCM9.
I googled how to enable the on-screen buttons.Followed the instructions and stuff.
I decompiled framework-res.apk and went into /res/values/bools.xml
and changed a line of code from this:
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">false</bool>
To this:
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">true</bool>
pushed it.boot. There you go,Easy on-screen buttons for you.
Then I changed the color of the buttons.(Images in SystemUI.apk)
why anyone would sacrifice precious screen space to put virtual buttons when there are physical ones are beyond me...
then again... whatever makes u happy i guess
nice find btw

Some stock kernarls are like that, you just gotta learn how to deal with it -.-

1) This is not a stock kernal. It is a CM7.2 based ROM.
2)stock rom had an option to enable & disable it.
3) Dont want to consider flashing another ROM just because of this issue coz this is really good.

lol.. using another kernal may slove this problem but loads of other issues will crop up..
This ROM is really smooth & looks good. Only a minor patch may be required to solve this issue.

Since the "power button ends call" option is missing in CM7 and it ends calls out of the box and you really hate hanging up on people when you accidently press the button in call, here is a fix for those interested ---- Remap the powerbutton to turn screen on/off instead of ending call:
Edit /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl with a text editor and look for the line:
"key 107 ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED"
Replace ENDCALL with POWER to make it look like this:
"key 107 POWER WAKE_DROPPED"
Original post location:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18427390&postcount=3717
After making this change the option in Settings>Accessibility is also becomes visible.. strange!!

The issue was resolved in the latest ics firmware .45, buttons are more responsive. But if you're having a hard time pressing it, slide from transparent strip up to the dots and I can tell you, it is effective.
