You mean that it used to work and now it doesn't?

let me elaborate it, so everything was working, i can switch to different roms, i'm actually on Toldo's Jellybean version 6, so what i did was update to the latest version to version 7, and that is where this started, all i get from it is on galaxy tab logo, so what i did was go back to stock and tried to reflash it again, ( i did install cwm and root, of course ) and it still persist, so i did was flash a rom that i know is working for me, tried 2 roms that used to work for me but no luck, what happen to my tab? did version 7 of jellybean rom have to do with it? i did a normal wipe. and i know what i did with it, so what happen?

and now kies don't recognize my phone for update, what happen to my tab??????????

I really don't know... Did you ask in the rom's forum? Listen, try to use a pit file with odin and start over!
http://www.mediafire.com/?7obe8a5ne0tgc4p

can you please give an instruction? what do i do with it? re-flash my stock rom and this pit??

Tab in download mode, just like you flash a rom. But use only the pit file and put it in the pit section in odin! After the flashin is complete, then put the tab in download mode again and flash the rom!!

if i may ask? what do the .pit file do?
and should i wipe it before installing the stock rom?
btw, thanks for shedding some light, if this does not work, well gonna stick with ics stock rom

pit repartitions the tab. Flash it, then close odin, then fire it up again and then flash stock ics.

oh my................ dude, i had a heart attack on this one, i did was wipe the tab, then do pit file, and then tab restarts back to download mode, then flash stock rom, then it like hang on the samsung logo after the boot animation, so i did was reflash rom and it magically says pass. is that okay??

Well, if it finally boots up, yes!

well i thought that will solve the problem, but i can't still flash any custom roms, so anyone have an idea???????????????????????

Did you tell your story to toldo? Maybe he can help!

i can't actually post on the thread, because of i'm a new member, but i pm'd him, he told me to go back to stock and just reflash v7, i did that just now after the repartion of .pit file. but no luck, oh my, i'm running out of patience here, saw a thread about unflashable gs2, but don't know where to find the bootloaders, kernel, phone and csc for the tab, or that's in the tar file already on stock rom?

They are indeed in the stock.tar

is there anyway i can put my tab into a full stock?? i mean back on state where i like first bought it? maybe that's the only way to make it work? if now, well i need to face the stock roms.

Well maybe flash a honeycomb rom from www.sammobile.com??

i did that too, no luck, ohhh. am i the only who encountered this?

Flashed lite'ning rom - something went badly wrong (bootloop)..

Hi all
Tonight I decided to buy that little usb jig and flash the lite'ning rom v5 for first time.
Okay things started alright..
Downloaded lite'ning rom v5 followed the guide, and flashed it via Odin v1.85.
Phone booted as it should, I noticed that all my apps and messages was still there, oh well (I come from custom x10i roms) I decided to go into recovery and did wipe data/ reset. Thought it would wipe the stuff there.
Then it startet to bootloop when I rebooted it.. Hmm funny, I tried to flash lite'ning v5 again but still bootloop. Then I found a guide how to get back on stock software with odin, I downloaded from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
The danish vesion + stock kernel flashed both.
Still bootlooped.
Hm The guide mentioned that I could try the villainrom v1.1 I did that and I got into the phone atlast!.
Ok then I tried to flash the stock software again from there boot loop again.. And now im back on villainrom :s seems like every thing I flash exept the villainrom I get bootloops. Even stock software? wtf ?
Could anyone please explain to me how I get the lite'ning rom v5 installed correctly without getting into bootloop.
And I found another guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499&highlight=loop
I followed it 100% thats where I got the villainrom from btw.. Seems like its the only way I'm able to use my phone right now :s ?
So please anyone could you give me a hint on what I should do to fix this mess i've made..
Thanks,

How come when I connect it to KIES im not allowed to do a reinstall from there?
I remember PC companion / sony ericsson software update just plug it in and you'd be back on stock software unrooted, isnt this possible on the samsung?

You have to clear the flash counter with a jig to be able to update using kies again. I did anyway. I had a similar bootloop problem myself. I fixed it by flashing to a stock firmware with odin, making sure to flash something for phone, pda and csc. I figured that maybe something from lightning ROM was left over and causing incompatibilities. This may not be the reason but the solution worked for me.
For lite'ning rom you cannot do wipe userdata (reset) using Clockwork Recovery. It wipes out something that is required to boot the rom. There is something missing from lite'ning rom that cannot use an empty userdata partition.
To be able to exit boot loop, you will have to go to download mode, flash a stock kernel, boot into samsung recovery, then do a factory reset.
It should boot right in. Then go back to download mode, then flash the latest speedmod kernel. Since there is already data in the userdata partition, it will not boot loop unless you use clockwork recovery to wipe userdata (factory reset).
If that doesn't work, then you will have to goto download mode, reflash a stock rom, goto samsung recovery, do a factory reset, boot into the rom, which will then put stuff back into the userdata partition, then go back to download mode, and reflash lite'ning rom.
It is weird, but all stock rom, and stock rom derivatives will get the boot loop issue when you use clockwork recovery to wipe userdata partition. So far, the only rom that does not have this issue with clockwork recovery wipe userdata function is CM7 and Devnull.
The problem in my view is not the rom's problem, but more of the kernel problem. It is missing a script to rebuild empty userdata.
Do this to get rid of a boot loop.
1) Flash a stock ROM via ODIN
2) Go into stock recovery, do factory reset
3) Re-flash stock ROM via ODIN.

Simply flash stock rom, factory reset it in stock recovery, and reflash stock rom

Follow 3 simple steps to get Lite'ning Rom 5 working as its supposed to:
1 - Download and Flash Lite'ning Rom 5 via odin as normal.
2 - Download and Flash the Ninphetamine-2.0.5 Kernel from the link bellow:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179814
If you download the TAR file, you need to flash it via ODIN, or if you download the ZIP file, you need to flash it via RECOVERY.
3 - Go into recovery and do a full wipe and restart the phone.
Start enjoying Lite'ning Rom 5 without any bootloops what so ever.
Its a real pitty Lite'ning Rom Dev didnt even bother mentioning this on his main page, knowing that this bootloop issue comes with his rom.
kwazyivan - Thanks
I just did what you said. Seems to run smooth
I wonder if its possible to remove the social hub and gamehub and that samsung stuff? I never use it anyways.
Also I have another question, I come from the x10i custom roms. How come the FPS cap isnt removed in the custom kernels? Not that it matters Phone is fast as hell anyways, just wondering
I hope this explains it

The hubs in the system, doesnt cause any slowdowns or extra ram usage from my experience but if you want to remove them you can always download Titanium Backup from the Market, once you start the TB app go to Backup/Restore, from the list of installed apps, tap on any program and choose the Uninstall option that you wish to remove permanently.
The screen has a refresh rate of 60, so even if the cap is removed it would be completely pointless as the framerate would still be 60 for any graphics app such as games and benchmarks, again in my opinion 60fps is all we need to see smooth rendering graphics, anything more than that is just to satisfy our own greed and hunger for power.
Thanks alot man, explains my questions !

Sure mate, No problem

how to fix a phone in this state?

My phone recently "died" and when I plugged it back in, would only display the empty battery icon for a few seconds, then shut off. Thinking it was a dead battery, I've bought another one and now when I turn my phone on, it hangs at the Samsung boot screen. So I'm guessing the bootloader has screwed or something (preventing the battery from receiving charge too?)
I'm running the Resurrection 1.8.1 ROM, could someone please tell me how to get my phone up and running please!
I'm guessing ill have to flash something with Odin?
Only thing I can do on my phone is get into Download mode.
There's lots of stuff on my phone I really can't afford to lose, so I'm hoping the suggested fix(es) won't involve losing that data!
Thanks in advance
Try the cwm mount and save your stuff, Odin flash is the only way, and even than you need factory reset to boot it it will boot loop
Don't have CWM installed, what kinda flash would I have to do from odin?
I was thinking I could get away with just a bootloader flash?

You can try flashing same version of resurrection remix without wiping.
Cool might try that then. How do I do that via odin? I only have the main rom zip.
Thanks

you cant flash custom rom zip files via odin. so your best bet is to flash the official rom on wich the rom U used is based.
you could also try to flash only CF kernel via odin, try to boot to recovery and then flash the ZIP of your custom rom.

[Q] question about firmware and rom

Hello,
well, i'm beginner in all the android custom stuff but yesterday, I wanted to try jelly bean on my galaxy tab 10.1 wifi version.
So I've installed a rom custom with this tuto androidauthority.com/galaxy-tab-10-1-wifi-p7510-paranoid-android-2-custom-rom-114133/
But i'm not satisfied with it and i want to go back on the previous version I had : official ICS.
So i've a question : are the firmware (download on sammobile for exemple) simply updates or complete ROM that we can install on our devices?
In both cases, i would like to find a way to get back an official rom...:crying:
Can you help me please?
First rule of Android modding. Always make a backup in recovery. If you had you could just boot to recovery and restore the backup. To answer your question the firmware downloads from sammobile are indeed fully stock roms. They are designed to be flashed with Odin (.tar.md5 files) flash them in Odin the same way you flashed a recovery, point to the .tar file with PDA slot in Odin.

Tanks for reply,
Actually, I did a backup before, like the tuto said, but when i want to restore, i've an error during the restauration of the data so it stop and don't restore.
And like you said, I've flashed the file from sammobile with Odin and the installation seems to work but when I reboot in normal mode, I'm stuck at the Samsung logo screen.
So do you know a way to reinstall proprely an official ICS ROM, even if I have to format my tablet?
thanks for help

After downgrading, it's a good idea to wipe data/factory reset from whatever recovery you have (stock or CWM). Factory reset may resolve this.
Note that the first boot after an installation is slow.. the logo screen stays around for several minutes if I remember right.

Can only flash with ODIN

Every ROM zip file I attempt to flash via CWM or TWRP doesnt work. I was on stock ICS (4.0.4) which I flashed using Odin. Every JB rom, stock or custom I attempt to flash with a recovery freezes either at boot up or first screen of initial setup. No errors are given on actual flash, it always looks good. . I wiped everything I can wipe, which is everything but emmc I think. What could be the problem? I have now flashed official JB through Odin twice with no issues.
Do you check that the ROM is downloaded properly by checking the md5 hash?

Ive flashed twrp 2.5 twice through odin and then tried to flash a rom with no improvement. Im really stumped 'cause flashing roms with odin works fine everytime, so it would seem nothings physically wrong with my device. Should I try a different recovery program? Using cwm and twrp give the same result, so Im skeptical a third recovery would be any different.
cheers

Only thing i can think of is look at the file format that youre trying to flash.
Is it zip? tar?
I may be wrong but cwm only works for .zip files from my experience. not .tar md5 etc.
why do you need to flash it via cwm? if its flashing through odin whats the problem?
It sounds like what ^^^^ is saying. Recovery flashes zip files and Odin flashes tar files. Don't confuse the zip files your pc uses to download the files with these.
When using odin I have to use ROM s which are .tar, so this basically limits me to stock ROMS. The custom ROMS are .zip which I can only flash with a custom recovery like twrp or cwm. I'd obviously like to flash the custom ROMS which are .zip , however it isn't working for me as I mentioned in the opening post . Not sure how to fix this problem .

Good idea. In a recovery zip file will be a couple of folders. One of them will have a tar file you can flash in the phone or pda a lot in Odin.
Thanks for the suggestion but I had no luck . I have tried extracting padawan JB and a debloated stock JB rom and they extract many files, folders, apks but no tar I could locate. Also I am not sure even if there was a tar i could use if it would be safe to use. If all this was good, it would still be a cumbersome workaround and wouldnt fix my problem of not being able to get a ROM installed via recovery to work.If I have no choice I'll use odin to flash custom ROMs (if there is a way) but Id rather get it to work with recovery.

If you're flashing between TW based to AOPS, or pretty much from a rom to a completely different rom, you will need to WIPE your data too, or better, do a complete wipe (factory reset). I had this issue when moving from Stock TW-based rom to Padawan JB rom. I did a factory reset (complete wipe) and it booted fine. But then again, I'm used to TW so I flashed that back.

Me too. Every rom freezes during the app optimization screen...usually at about 3/4th the way through. What's going on???
*edit* Tried to restore factory w/Odin. I'm bricked now. Time for some JTAG love.
Exactly the same issue here.
Every jelly bean ROM, 4.1 or 4.2, stock or custom, as long as I install them via recovery, it either doesn't boot up or gets stuck on the first screen.
If I use ODIN to install the stock ROM, it works fine.
Driving me nuts...
Just throwing suggestions out there but try sideloading the rom and see if itll install that way? Also are you odin flashing recovery? Maybe try to load twrp through goomanager and see if maybe recovery is corrupted?

Unable to install any softwre outside of Odin. Please Help.

[Solved]
I am unable to flash any roms through cwm, and can only do it through odin. Flashing through cwm results in the phone not loading past the boot logo.
I formatted sd card in cwm, thinking it would only restore to factory settings, not knowing it would completely wipe everything.
From then i was unable to even see the boot logo or recovery mode, but luckily download mode still worked.
So i flashed the stock rom through odin, but it still plays up. Now the battery doesn't last more than 1 day, and constantly freezes.
Now whenever i install anything in cwm, as soon as i reboot, it goes to the bootscreen and freezes. I have tried at least 5 different roms and the same story each time, So each time i have to reflash stock rom with odin.
So any ideas to why this is? any help is appreciated. I have tried ultimate kernel wipe cleaner , or whatever it is called as well.
[Solved]
I just reflashed stock ICS in odin, and ticked the 're-partition' box. the repartition file is called " u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit ". Now it works good as new and I'm currently running PACman rom on 4.3. gg guys.
Just to check, but you have factory reset after flashing the new ROM from CWM right?
Try these steps :
1. Flash ROMNuke script by hawkerpaul. (it's a ROM nuke, not just a kernel nuke)
2. Flash ROM in CWM.
3. Boot.
I know it sounds simple, but that's got me out of a few odd bootloop /failed flash situations. Give it a go.
Then, if that doesn't work, re-download the ROM which you're attempting to flash & try again.
One more thing, what kernel are you trying to flash the ROM from in CWM? Try a different one, say siyah. I've sometimes seen where a particular kernel won't flash but another will for no apparent reason.

it was stock ics cwm i think?, also another thing when I install a new rom, when it shows the progress bar, it goes up to 3 quarters then it skips the rest and says update completed (I just tried Romnuke and same story). I have also tried siyah kernel and it just freezes at the siyah kernel instead. Im currently stuck on stock ICS 4.0.2
Not sure what you mean by 'stock ICS CWM'?
And just to make sure, you definitely have an i9100 right? Not a variant, i9100g etc? Just asking as 4.0.2 was never released for i9100, only 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 (stay away from that one)
So now, re-download the ROM which you're attempting to flash, and try again after the ROMNuke script. Does the script run successfully? Or does it have errors /messages which indicate it didn't run successfully?

All good. And also good that you have an i9100.
Ok, so have you tried the things I said?
1. Try flashing from a different kernel (your choice, try one other than Siyah)
2. Re-download the ROM & reflash with Nuke script then ROM.

5 months later I found the answer when messing with odin. What you do is tick the 're-partition' box, and then in the 'pit' sections you need the partition file i guess, for the i9100 its called u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit . hope this helps anyone else who may have this problem
