Anyone have serious data issues the last couple days? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The last couple days I can't keep a data connection. Jumps from 1x to 3g to 4g constantly and sometimes nothing. I have flashed 4 different radios to rule that out and its still doing it. I'm on gb 2.1

Yes. It seems to have stopped today. I think its just Verizon. I tried everything to fix it seems like just network trouble with the increased usage last couple weeks. Issues have gone now though. I would just wait it out. Switch to rev A off of ehrpd if its bugging u. Don't forget to turn it back tho

Btw I put cm7 on and it started working great. Idk if its a coincidence

Prob a coincidence bro.

Had data issues in Tennessee over the weekend, seems better now.

I had data issues with liquid ice for a few days too and switched to cm7 with the same result. I am now running nusense and data is better than ever.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2

Ya I think it was. Data issues at certain times of evening still
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2

I think its a region issue. I have been running liquid ics rom since it came out and have had data issues dropping and going gray several times a day no matter what radio( usally 5 -10 times a day ) . This was all in Atlanta area where I live. I have been in Lexington for 4 days now on business and I have not dropped data once. !!!!!

Agreed

That is because of the ril. That happens to me and I live in Texas. When I switched to nusense data is much more consistent.

4G drop issue

Alright. So I have been wandering the forum and can't find a thing about this. When I'm using my 4g I seem to hit a point (100 mb or so) when the 4g just disappears. and WILL NOT come back till I do a battery pull. I have used the 4g on off app thing. I have tried ##778* (although I feel like there might be an answer in this menu still.) all in all it is frustrating when I'm downloading a 500mb rom from here and it cuts out 1/5 of the way through and just won't come back
does anyone else have this issue? and yes I have 2-3 bars of coverage at my house, so it should not be a reception issue at all.
thank you for the help!!
Hmmmm...not sure....4g drops out for me but thats only because im on their edge of coverage....never had it drop cuz of downloading a certain amount...what rom are u using?
Well I'm on ics business sense. I would assume the rom but it has done that from the beginning. I only lose 4G when I'm downloading something. Otherwise I have it all the time at home.

Thats weird......
Yea that is how I feel about it. Think it might be the simcard?

Signal issues DX2

I have a dx2 with cm7 and have been having signal issues, only with 3g no cell issues. The signal strength stays above -80 dbm most of the time, while my dads hunderbolt hangs around -63dbm and we have a cell tower in sight of us, has anyone here found a way to remedy this other then getting a new phone?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
Has it been a recent issue? Ive noticed on my DX2CM7 the past couple days that my 3G has been cutting out and the speed is VERY slow. On average today im getting about 32kB/s down and 120kB/s up.
Im lucky to get that good of speed, its been on and off not to bad. Ive been noticing its been alot worse lately.
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
I applied some mods I found and the 3g works allot better even though I still get a bad signal.

Gotta ask an off topic question...where in the north do you roam? And I am unsure as well.. I have always ran those mods and never seen any ill affects with any rom...although I have not run rc1
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Usually in Minnesota at the moment, but roamed North Dakota and Montana for 4/6 months I hit Michigan a couple times a year, little bit of Wisconsin too.
I never had any issues with the mods on rc0 but rc1 came out and i had to flash it, now im thinking bout heading back to eclipse and the lovely poison green for awhile

There's an app on google play called 3g/4g speed optimizer, I have it set on little fast and it has given a bit more speed. It does consume more battery and get a little hotter though but thats only when downloading or browsing the web.

I compared my wife's dx2 signal (stock) to mine (RC1) and they were exactly the same.

Well that atleast proves the CM isnt responsible for poor signal.

Wow just read this thread. I can honestly say since rc1 I have had my 3g trip out(not working). But I rebooted and it went away.

Losing data connection

Hello all. I keep having issues with keeping mobile data working. Ill be surfing one minute then cut from data the next then i have to put it in airplane mode and take it back out for it to start working again. This happens quite a few times a day. I have tried making the new apn for internet as stated in one of the threads and it still did it. I switched to a wap.Cingular apn same thing happens. Im at wits end. This has happened on stock and several roms. I'm not in an lte area either. Can anyone help? Thanks.

What Radio are you running? I had similar issues on the UCLC5 radio, and they went away when I went back to the UCLC1 radio. The UCLC5 is paired with most ICS ROMs.
It could have been a bad flash of the Radio, because I'm now back on ICS with UCLC5 radio and I'm not experiencing any issues.
Good Luck!
I actually posted a thread about this a couple of weeks ago because the same thing was happening to me. Att just sent me a new sim card and that fixed the issue. But as of today it started happening again. I was on Seraphim rom coupled with the tablet mod and my data wasn't working. It would only work after turning on and off Airplane mode. Since then I flashed back to the unofficial Emily rom and haven't had an issue as of this morning.

I was Emily Saturday and didn't notice any issues that i can recall but i love alpha 2 with the tablet mode where do i get that radio and will it work with alpha 2? Thanks

Verizon's 4g data problem.

OK, I'm not sure if anyone one else has or is experiencing a data connection problem with Verizon's 4g toggling off and on. I know I "was" and this is my theory and it has actually worked for me but first let me start from beginning. I got new tbolt because having this issue, I rooted and install ROM and everything seem as it was fine until I decided to connect to myverizon app and as soon as I did I started experiencing the toggling off and on again. So I decided to un-install myverizon app and reflash radio again and sure enough everything fine now. Well like I said just my theory but I think if u log in to myverizon app its causing this data problem. Inconclusion if you un-install myverizon app and reflash radio you shouldn't have any more data connection problems.

Isn't it? It's like Verizon is trying to control usage. But like i said on post it worked for me, so i want to get a response from someone that has issue and tries it.

I constantly have to log in to My Verizon app. It's just part of how the ROM that im using works. I'm running Jellyblur 1.3 and have 4G data drops without even moving my phone on my desk at work. Considering I don't stay logged into My Verizon, I don't see how uninstalling it and reflashing my radio would make a difference. I love a good conspiracy theory though!

I'm saying don't use at all. Yes to update to see how much data u have used u have to constantly log in to update. What I'm saying is if u don't use at all don't even log in to myverizon. Give it a try... Delete myverizon don't re install flash radio again and tell me if your data connection is still dropping.

I did flash the .9 radio afterwards and noticed no drops now. I can't confirm the correlation between the drops and My Verizon. It could just strictly be that this radio version works better for me. Sorry, boss, but I like where your head's at!

I'm having the same crap where can I found the newest radio I can't find it anywhere
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2

Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
For what it's worth, I never installed the My Verizon app on any of my ROMs and only had it while stock, which was a year ago. I still got major 4G connectivity issues a few months ago like so many others. Made the phone damn unusable at times.
Yeah I know it was a frustration for me. Have u tried new radios? .19 radios

I went radio happy a month ago and flashed them like they were ROMs. Tried probably 5 or 6 of them. I even tried different combinations of CDMA and LTE radios separately. No significant changes although the .9 or .19 radios seem to work equally well for me.

i was having this problem with juice defender and i switched to the beta and now im fine it may be a program like that causing your problems

Phone sometimes goes 3g

Sometimes randomly even with 2 to 3 bars I drop to 4g for some time. Dont know if its my phone. Or a known issue. Or my tower. :\ anyone else? Never happened with my s3.

Are you in a strong 4g area? Over the past few weeks I've had the note 2 I have yet for it to drop to 3g. If it keeps up go to the vzw store and get a new one.
Eh two to three bars. Its happened like twice. Im gonna keep my eye on it. I got a 30 day exchange windows through best buyb
