open messages-->settings then check Delete old messages.. set text limit per conversation as u want ..done..

What rom are you running? or are you still stock? This is the path on 2.3 not sure if it is different on Froyo

well i that case there is no way for that option..sorry so Custom ROMs are better!!
I actualy found out..... In messeges click on the left button and chose delete messeges and then you can delete all ;-)
