What is the use of creating another thread for just drawing attention

Cause there's lot of pepole with an xperia that would like to unlock their bootloader but they cannot
And not everyone think that the solution to this problem is in the U section of the forums

I warn you all not to do this! It's too dangerous! U'll get a hard brick phone which required a technical support. The worst case scenario, it will be trashed!

Q to cracked bootloader devs and cfw devs

Cracked bootloader:
How far did you get?
Who are working on it?
When will the cracked bootloader be aviable for us?
Custom firmware:
Is it able to get 2.2 on x10?
Who is working on a cfw?
On wich FW are you working?
When will it be aviable for us?

Search FFS.
Just sit and wait until the bootloader is cracked or they find a way around it. Nobody knows how far they are.
[Delete plz]

Didn't want to have a go at you but since I've seen people get slaughtered on these forums when they don't really deserve it I think its only fair.
This thread deserves slaughtering! "They" do know how far they are, but so do I - I know they still haven't cracked it.
So how can they give you a timeline? If they could then they would have cracked it. They aren't waiting for a progress bar to reach 100%, they are actually trying to hack into it. I don't even now anything about android development but I'm intelligent enough to realise it takes work, especially when its not paid for. Let them get on with it and don't pressure them with stupid questions making them look incompetent.
Please close this thread! It's a useless topic

Buddy your post is worthless they dont know the poster above u explained it to you.. they might think their close but they can also run into a problem that would get them stuck for a long time.. so noone knows wait and see like the rest of us.. thats why there is a thread like custom rom dev and excelent progress on cyanogen so you can read whats going on and what the progress is. Read the forum.
And i also think the mods should close this thread as it is a joke.

For you to understand.. Lets say they are @ 99,99%, 1 small tiny thing can enormously slow down the proses or even make it (almost) impossible. No realistic person can put a timeline on these jobs.
A smart dev will never say it almost done before its really done.

And since they are all smart we don't know any timelines and they are working hard to ease our experience with this phone. Chill and wait till they inform you about the process.

good on you troll... we don't care!
The X10 community has some very talented developers working on the hack. I have no doubt 2.2 will be successfuly ported to our phone eventually.
Trolls must die... All.
Principally samsung-ay boys.
Asking how far they are is like asking how long is a piece of string.

Obviously some regular users on this forum don't get it. For a newbie, these forums are very, very difficult to extract exact information from.
There are so many different threads to look at.
Then once you find the thread, sometimes you still can't get an answer because the language spoken, is very much developer only.
A simple, no, they haven't cracked it yet, but they are still working very hard, would have been an easy, quick answer for all who was looking.

Why don't you guys just look at the developers thread and see how far away they are? You make your own assumptions but at least you will know what they are working on at the moment. Like last I checked was working on ram disks. But please no posts. Just look if your curious.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Right now, imho no one works on cracking the bootloader, but the managed to boot from a custom ramdisk, however its still far from a full working image (right now its more a proof of concept) usable for simple users.
That is my impression as well after reading the dev thread.
It seems they "gave up" on the bootloader, or are focusing on booting the stock kernel, and after that instead of running the stock init scripts and OS to load another OS. (but the kernel is the same)
please correct me if i'm wrong.
I'm in no hurry to get a custom OS, but i'd still appreciate if the guys who are working on it could let us know, what exactly they're doing (no timelines of course)

Rooting without bootloader unlock?

Yes, I know there are various threads upon the notion of rooting, but this particular issue was not mentioned.
I was browsing and found that you can root various Xperia phones without unlocking the bootloader, and therefore preserving warranty (see http://mytechencounters.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/root-your-xperia-phone-without-voiding-warranty/)- however, at current no exploit was found for this device as far as forums have shown.
Should I take it that we are unable to follow the above method at present, or will we ever be able to do so?
Sorry for the question. I'm not quite a noob, but the Sony setup with bootloaders being unlocked, rooting not invalidating warranty and whatnot awful confusing. I was so more understanding with my old HTC HANDSETS!
Many thanks,
SN.

Rashkae are you the self appointed thread police or something?
Every time someone duplicates something your on them like a flash.
Most people search and sometimes nothing comes up, sometimes people are bone idle and can't be bothered, annoying I know, but if it bothers you that much, instead of giving a sarcastic answer, just bite your lip and don't answer at all.
Surely we're all here to help each other.

I'm sorry if I caused confusion (and a slight dispute), but as a newbie with Sony handsets, it's not so straightforward coming from a different brand of mobile.
Maybe a stickie in simple, easy to understand English might be handy for people in a similar position?

[Q] bootloader locked by provider can be unlocked ?

Hi!
I've already search in other phone but i don't found any clear answer, but i'm sorry if the question is already posted in this forum !
If it say "unlock bootloader allowed : no" in service info, with the xperia s phone , is there any solution to "unblock" the bootloader for future unlock?
Thanks

I think we have to wait for any brilliant mind to come out with an exploit...I don't think we will see any solution at least until ICS is out in the end of June...

That method requires sending the phone to SONY for bootloader unlocking for any country or carrier, the only requirement is to haVe the phone Simunlocked. But it works.

I am in the same boat. There is a Sony s1 signature server which you can use remotely using ezSemc. You need to buy credits from a company (www.microunlocker.com is one). You need to ask for a full CSCA certificate unlock. Trouble is, server is offline at the mo, no one knows when it's back on.
If you search s1 signature server status using Google you'll find more info about when the server may be back online.
Just a waiting game at the mo.
Cheers,
Lunar.

Rooting for an iPhone convert.... Pls help.

Hi everyone,
I'm proud to say that I just bought my first android phone, and it is the ATT LG Optimus G.
I'm used to jail breaking iPhones, but I have a few questions about rooting and unlocking the Optimus G. My Optimus G was recently updated from att, but I don't know what was changed on the device. It asked me to update and I put it off, and then later on it applied the update all by itself. So, now I'm wondering if I can root and unlock my phone using the methods mentioned here.
How can I tell if my phone can still be rooted and unlocked? What firmware number or boot numbers should I be looking for on my phone?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Rhem.
First welcome to android! If I was you and since you never done this before. I would use the device until my return policy is up, or at least til 30 days have past. That way if you have any issues with the device prior to that it a simple return/exchange for you.
If you still want to adventure on then here is the thread you need. Please read up BEFORE attempting this. That way you know what you are doing know what to except if something goes wrong.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006946
Also not being rude but remember to post in the right sections. To make the mods job a lil easier
Also there is unlocking the boot loader to flash ROMs and such. That can be found in the development section.
BUT IF I WAS YOU. I would wait til I know I have a problem free device before I jump in to messing with my phone.....

Wonderful advice bro,
And to help out a little more, the developers put an app in the play store called freegee to only unlock after rooted or you can use the aforementioned thread to unlock using your computer after you root

Can the new OTA be rooted / flashed custom recovery / etc?

I got the DNA about a month ago but when getting it Verizon did the update for me.. while "showing me the ropes".. even though I easily know more, but anyhow I'm stick with it. But it seems like I have to unlock the bootloader to get the recovery to root to flash Rom. But I'm unsuccessful even getting the bootloader unlocked for this ota for this phone. Is someone working on this or maybe I'm missing the current fourm? Thanks for any direction but I'd like to sometime test ubuntu on this quad core beast .. and get the bloatware off of it!
