[Q] How to boot into recovery mode so i can use Flashtool on Xperia U ? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Here`s a quick question, how do you boot into recovery mode on a stock rom, so i can update to ICS using Flashtool on the Xperia U? Holding down the volume down key while inserting the USB cable doesn`t seem to work.

You are asking about flashmode I think,it should work.Did you install flashtool drivers?

First of all its Flash Mode not recovery mode....
If uve tried volume - & inserting usb then u might wana check the drivers..
Or just reinstall drivers from this location on ur Desktop/Notebook
C:/Flashtool/Drivers
windows might warn you many times but give permission reboot device n Desktop...

Hit Thanks If I Helped!!

Thanks guys, my mistake. I did install the drivers, but not all the drivers. You also need to install the Flashmode drivers besides the Xperia U ones, and i forgot about that. Now it`s flashing fine, thx for the replies.

Enter flashmode for flashtool
Hey....i don't think you need to switch it to MSC mode for flashing.... did you try to enter flashmode by holding "Volume down" button while inserting the USB cable into the phone ? Are you trying to flash it via Flashtool ( it is the easiest way ) ?

Yes, I tried to flash it with flashtool, but it won't recognize the phone, holding volume down while inserting usb, and the mini led light up orange, so... what else can I do? .. thanks
Did You switch the phone off before that?
Procedure is:
1) Switch off the phone (remove battery if needed)
2) Press "volume down" and hold
3) Put he USB cable in.
Do You see driver installation dialog running in windows? wait until it finishes.
4) Start the flashtool
5) Flash the ROM.
Yes, I did exactly the same, but it doesn't install the drivers

Then You need to install either Sony PC companion or form the Sony develeoper site the proper drivers.
Sony PC Companion You find here
Pc companion will install all the SE xperia drivers You need.

You have drivers in Flashtool folder under : \flashtool\drivers install them , and accept all of the installation requests by Windows . Or install official drivers from Sony or from Google's SDK source .
:Flash a new kernel via FASTBOOT and install a rom or reflash the firmware with wotan client that worked for me

I did it like this: connect phone in fastboot mode, then i installed the drivers manually when this is not working plug out your phone install PDA net on your computer, connect your phone in fast boot mode and the program will install the drivers
Sorry for my bad english
when you plug in your usb while holding volume down key the led should be green not orange.
green led means the phone is in flashmode.

hi this not help ,any idea?
This may help you 90%... just try it
I also have bricked up my Xperia Neo V
I tried many tools but no one helped.....
Finally I got back my bricked phone back by doing following things....
download all the needed things you need to update phone with wotan X tool unlock, you will need
1. X_Unlock_Tool_Setup_Wotan
2. WotanClient
3. USBFlashDriver
you can get all these from wotan website.
also create an account on wotan website. NO NEED TO BUY ANY CREDITS
install all above mentioned tools.
then run X UNLOCK TOOL
then follow on screen instructions untill you get an error that you don't have sufficient credits.
NOTE THAT NOW YOUR PHONE HAS GOT A SIM LOCK CERTIFICATE FROM THIS TOOL. BUT THE POSITIVE ASPECT IS THAT YOU CAN NOW FLASH ANY ftf FILE USING FLASH TOOL. SIM LOCK WILL BE REMOVED AFTER THE WHOLE PROCESS.
now flash the desired firmware on your phone.
power up your phone
if it power ups successfully, then your phone will not detect your SIM card.
finally use S1 tool to remove SIM LOCK CERTIFICATE.
CLICK THANKS IF IT WORKS
BEST OF LUCK

Now I am trying to flash stock roms using Flashtool but it is requiring me to be in Flasmode which obviously I can't do it. I have done the steps but it wont recognize my phone.
I am also trying to figure how to flash a kernel but every kernel that I download comes in an *.img format but FLASH TOOLs require FTF file to flash the kernel.. how can I do it?

[Q] Briccked xperia s with doomkernel

Hi all. I need help.. I've installed Doomkernl with ICS sotck firmware on the phone because I didn't read it was incompatible. Now it stuck at the boot screen and I can't do nothing. There is something I can do to repair it??
Flash only the kernel using flashtool, ics firmware
Tapatalked !
So I have to download the stock firmware and flash it? But I can do this when my phone is on and can't go in recovery mode? And also I cant install USB drivers..
Download and install flashtool. Then install drivers from the flashtool directory. Read the tutorial on how to use it
Tapatalked !
I did, I installed the driver with flashbot for xperia s but when i connect the device it tell me that can't install MTP USB driver. And I also need to turn off the phone but the power button doesn't work..
Hold the power and volume up button for 10 secs to power off. As for the drivers uninstall and reinstall flashtool and see if it works
Tapatalked !
Thanks for your help. I have installed an ics kernel in fastboot mode but when I rebooted I had black screen. So I have turned off the phone and connected in flashboot mode but it didn't install the driver. I reinstalled driver in the folder and tried to connect again but now the pc desn't recognize the device..
I tried again and this time it worked! The phone is restored. Thanks a lot for your help

[Q] Stuck in Bootloop and no recovery mod and no flashtool

Hey guys, before i start i like to say that i searched the forum at least 2 hour and other sites as well. My problem is;
my phone (Xperia Neo V) got stuck in bootloop when i was refreshing the mails in gmail app and it asked me to refresh automatically and i said yes after i said res it got stuck.
I tried to enter the recovery with volume buttons and home key and tapping the screen it didn't work. My phone was rooted and i was using a custom 4.0.4 rom (Unfortunately i didnt remember the name of the rom since i was using it over a year with no problem).
I also tried flashtool and sus from sony website both of them didn't recognise my phone when i plugged in the computer. Even my computer doesn't recognize my phone at all.
So here i am helpless, seeking for a help?
Is fastboot or flashmode working? If fastboot working, flash any other custom ics kernel like suave and flash the rom again.. It has custom recovery.. If flashmode working, flash stock ftf using flashtool.. You will lose root but your phone will boot up for sure..
Regards,
vishal_android freak
1)Just download the .ftf file
2)Install drivers from flashtool>drivers folder, during installation don't forget to tick flashboot option
3)move the .ftf file to firmware folder of flashtool
4)start flashtool and turn on mobile and connect with USB
5)click on bolt sign and go flash boot, disconnect mobile and connect in flshboot mode(holding back button put in USB)
6)it will flash it self, done... If I helped u please give me thanks

[Q] Xperia U Hard Bricked

Hi there,
I have a rooted xperia u with unlocked bootloader. I've tried to install the cm9 following a guide where the requirement of the installation was having an original Sony firmware installed on the device. I didn't saw that requirement, and I installed it with a custom rom on my phone. So after flashing the kernel I turned on my xperia...
Bricked.
It made only the vibration but no Sony logo appeared. So, I connected it in flashmode on my computer (with windowsXP) with green led working, but flashtool gived me the message that I must install the phone drivers (even if I had already installed them on my pc). I tryed to reinstall them but nothing canghed.
I also tried to connect the phone on a windows 7 pc always with flastool (and drivers installed) but in that case neither fastboot mode or flashmode, nor any vibration was working (pc doesn't detect it).
I tried to connect the phone with removed battery or also a reset with power and volume up buttons but nothing...
It's still like this, with fastboot mode or flashmode not working with any pc... :crying:
Is there anything that I can do?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry Cwikla, I didn't flashed the kernel, but the rom. I wrote it wrong.
Try getting into fastboot. Even without drivers, you might be able to do so. Bring up the fastboot menu in flashtool, then plug in your phone in fastboot. Quickly hit reboot into fastboot (via fastboot). Then flash another kernel and restore a nandroid backup(if you have one)
