They just released Build 5 last night including our device. Didn't see anything about it listed on the forums so I thought I would share.

Yup, flashed it yesterday, so far so good.

I downloaded it last night, but been pretty busy so I haven't got around to flashing it. New features look really cool.

A milestone release is coming soon as well, so we should get even more new features.

Is the first-time-audio-force-close issue found in every single JB ROM for the i717 fixed in this one?
Easiest way to replicate is to choose an MP3 ringtone (try using Rings Extended) and then reboot. If you go into the ringtone settings and try to listen to your custom ringtone, it'll force close the first time you try it (and will work after that until you reboot).

The Dev thread has been moved to "original".

Wonder if they managed to get playback working from AT&T Visual Voice mail. That and the stock mail app is what has been holding me back from JB. Although I've flashed them all, I do love the Dag version the best!

Looks like on stock kernel, Visual Voice mail works! That mail app though, still stinks.

Voice over from incoming calls and emails

So my note recently has started to announce the names of incoming calls. I hear my ringtone as I normally would, and about 3 seconds into the ringtone, the android "gps voice" speaks the name aloud. At first it startled me, but then I actually liked the feature because I do screen my calls at times and it is helpful when my phone is out of reach. Now however, it has been doing the same thing with my emails. The bad thing is that it decides to do it randomly while I'm at work when my phone is on silent. While on silent, my phone will just "speak" and say "you have 2 new emails" while i'm at work. The email voice has only happened twice so far, but I do not want it to happen again. I did notice that it occurred when my media volume was on...not sure if it is linked to this or if it was just coincidence. Anyone else have this issue or know how to stop it? I figured this was not normal since it did not occur when I first got the phone, and it just activated randomly...

Thanks for the quick response! I didn't even know this was a feature. I don't even know how I activated it though...Is there anyway to keep the voice only for incoming calls??
I actually like this feature for the incoming text but I assume it drains battery...

I have used eCID for a couple years. Works for calls, sms, mms, email, calendar, and google talk. It will even read your messages if you so want it to. I used it with loquendo TTS which has been by far the best TTS. But I have to give Samsung credit as Samsung TTS does very well too. But loquendo is still a touch above.

I too loved Saurom 7.1- my favorite. I caved and flashed ICS. Went thru 3 versions before finding a keeper. Flapp's ucl2 version.
The free app Skyvi will read out your text messages and give you a pop up screen too. But, she does not just read the name, it can be the texting number too which can get annoying. but it is very convenient when driving.

[FYI] Touch Wiz on JB roms

They said it couldn't be done. It's done, been out for a while now. I started this thread just to inform that I've tried it on some of the current roms. It works fine, for me on:
Slimbean
Cookies and Cream
Liquid
CM nightlies and M2
Flappjaxx
It claims to work on all Cm10 based roms. It's very basic, not much customizations available. It does give you SNote, SVoice and some of the stock rom features. I've read post here about folks using it already. Anyone else using it can post here if you like, so as to not clutter up the other threads.
I take no credit for the mod at all, just tested it on various roms.
If you going to try it, of coarse, do a backup first. You need to install the launcher first and then the addons. You must use clockwork recovery though. It doesn't fully install with twr.

4.2.2 Lock screen Handle Mods

Thought I'd share some of the lockscreen handle mods I've done. These are made possible by the VillianTheme Flasher Zip and some help from CPA Poke, as well as the original creators of the graphics I used! I will do some requests, but be patient as I work two jobs and have a family!
These should work on all ASOP/AOKP/CM based 4.2.2 ROMs To install, simply download zip and flash in TWRP recovery! These should work on numerous ROMs and devices.. Feel free to test them out and let me know. I'll post a does/does not work list. At this time, I don't believe these to work with CWM, but work great in TWRP. In time I may make second versions for CWM if the demand is there. For now...its TWRP
UDATE^^I flashed some of these on my wife's S2 SkyRocket with CWM...and it worked fine! So CWM users, flash away! Should be fine!
Download links will be located under the corresponding image
UPDATE^^Due to an issue some users were having with downloading from my Box account, I've switched links to pull from my DropBox account!
If you like it hit thanks
The mod will change the lock screen handle like this:

You know that in the framework-res.apk for I717 there is no such directory - drawable-sw600dp-hdpi. And there is no such file - ic_lockscreen_handle_normal.png in the drawable-hdpi directory. So two pictures are unnecessary.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/75194171/2013-04-10_173646.png
Its done that way for other devices that use the mod have them if they are needed..the VillianThemer zip automatically constructs the appropriate folders into the framework-result.apk..kinda makes it semi-universal and takes out some of the guesswork Lol. I am a noob and learning as I go so I try to keep it simple

So here is a fully-themed lock screen mod (themes the shortcut icons and the little movement bubbles in addition to the actual handle icon) that I flash on all my ROMs, so I figured I would share and hope others enjoy it as well:
http://db.tt/8DCr6UTh
Like shorty's mods above, it is using the VillainRom Theme engine (credit here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207017 ). The resources used in the mod come from ArtVandelay440's "Dark Grunge" theme for Theme-chooser...Play Store download and screenshots can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.artvandelay440.darkgrungefree
Basically all I did was pull the lockscreen resources from the theme and drop them into the vrtheme engine, so after you flash the mod you can still run other Theme-chooser themes (as long as they don't theme the lock screen) while still having the themed-out Dark Grunge lock screen.
I was thinking of doing something like this to create full lock screen themes..I'm also thinking about about trying to mash up a full blown theme ...we shall see if I can figure it out lol
Think its possible to to assign lock screen and home screen wallpapers through the theme zip?

I don't know about lock screen walls, as I don't think it's part of the framework - IIRC the lock screen background is always just the same as the desktop background unless you change it in the lockscreen settings.
I'll look into using the zip to drop in a desktop background...it's probably just a matter of opening up any ROM's framework-res.apk and seeing where (if anywhere) the wallpaper is stored.
Was hoping you make a Chicago cubs lock screen.

I did some digging of my own, and it appears that selectable wallpapers are store in the launcher APK. So...since different people use different launchers I don't know that it would feasible... I figure something out

Nice work.......would you be able to do one for Avenged Sevenfold's bat with a transparent background? That would be awesome.

Please close with my apologies

As these "NC2" based Roms are nothing more than pieces pulled from nc2 and modded Build.prop's that I don't agree with, I've pulled my posting. No further development will be made. Not that I would've accepted anything but a "Thanks" I'm certainly not in this to mislead members of this forum. My apologies...

Working on a couple final touches. Sorry taking so long. Son's birthday party was yesterday so he wants to come over and play with all his cool new toys!
No problem bud. Life first!

Will the S5 Shealth work from this thread? I'm on dynamic with it installed. Works flawless. Just install sheathservices.apk before you flash the shealth.apk.

You might want add to the girst post that the lock screen has significant lag if using pattern lock. This is present in bri's rom. Might not bother most but it can be a deal breaker for some.

Test? The lag lockscreen pattern lag?
Yes the lock screen pattern lag. It lags after doing your pattern. It gets worse as the rom is up and running for a few hours. I have to reboot to fix it.

As I dont use patterns I'm not sure what the usual lag time but it's not as instant as a swipe. It takes a second after entering pattern...
As far as other APN related issues, I should have all that fixed tonight. Play time with kiddies right now
Just flash your file right? We dont need to flash dynamic 1.0 first or anything correct?
So this is dynamic rom but with S5 apps and theme

KK ROM has a bad playback from recorded calls. Does the problem exist in here as well?
Thanks for making this Joe!! Been wanting to try Dynamic for a while but when jtrain put out his S5 Experience I had to try that out. Was thinking that Brian's Dynamic with S5 goodies would be great and then you put this out...lol Dl'd and about to flash now!
tried flashing the rom, but it didn't seem to work. not sure if i'm suppose to flash dynamic first and yours on top?
Does it still fc when you tap themes on the home screen settings and of course the fingerprint scanner options (if it's there)
Sorry for the delay, busy weekend.
I've learned the lesson of messing with your phone and conversating with kids at the same time. Unfortunately I've gotten myself stuck on the unrootable MLG. I'll continue to work on this best I can without being to test it unfortunately. I might just trade my note on craigslist for a rootable one if there's one out there as I don't see root for 442 coming soon...
