Is there any other pencil available for the TPT? Like a pencil which looks like a real one? I tried with a wacom, a lenovo tablet and a no-name pencil but all of them does not work... i could not find any at amazon, beside the original one.

The one HTC put out, I think it was the Scribe, works with the TPT.
Take a look at the pen for the Fujitsu Q552, as it is the same N-Trig gen as our Thinkpad The older Q550 pen will also work, but I am told that is half a gen behind what we have, but the tip also gets dirty/needs replacement more frequently. The HP Slate 2 pne will also work. However, the only con maybe they may not fit in the pen silo, so you would have to carry it separately.

I was wondering if there is a nrig pen out there that is not pressure sensitive (should be less loud)
Does this tablet use the same one as the X61T X200T X201T W700 X220? I see a ton of styli for those models for cheap on eBay, but I'm unsure which stylus to buy. What do you guys recommend?
No, different technology. But, the Fujitsu Q550/552. The Q572 and Q702 pen may work(newer gen version of what the TPT uses) as you can use the older pen, like the HTC Flyer or TPT pen on the, but not sure if it works the other way around or not.

The TPT 1 uses NTRIG pens.

It will be interesting to find any of this pens and try it out, possible you can find any of those on ebay cheap... but it will be "trial and error" to see if those works.

Has anyone tried the old cross stylus from the tabletpc days? I have one I used with my HP TC1100 and would love to use it instead of paying the extra $80. I also have two other stylus that came with different tablets that I'm going to take to best buy and try out. Please let me know if anyone has tried any other active digitizer stylus yet.

How's the palm rejection? Are there options to control the N-Trig digitizer like on the HP Slate or the Fujitsu? For example, if I set my Slate to "auto," it only accepts pen input until I double tap with my finger.

Palm rejection as it is usually talked about is perfect for me--but the capacitive button can be a hassle. If you touch the screen with the pen first, I think it disables the capacitive buttons too. I can touch with pen and then write and drag my hand all over the capacitive buttons and have no effect. If I do not touch with pen first, then it can be a problem.
I tested again. Once pen touches and you are writing the capacitive buttons do not work. I even pressed them directly with my other hand and got no effect.

I have had the same experience. I will say it seems that you have to either touch the pen to the screen or put the pen really close before palm rejection even happens. I've become accustom to resting my hand on the bezel and then starting to right.

No luck using my old Windows Styli.
A.T. Cross stylus does not work
Lenovo X43(?) stylus does not work.
Fujitsu Lifebook 5010 stylus does not work either.
HTC magic stylus does not work on the above Fujitsu either.

The Flyer's stylus is an active digitizer. That's why it's battery-powered. The ones that come on tablet notebooks these days often use Wacom's digitizer, which doesn't require a battery (so the screen is supplying the signal that the pen interacts with).
The last tablet pc that I used that used a similar battery-powered digitizer was HP's TC1100. That's the only other stylus that has any chance of working. (edit: stupid me, see post below.)
N-trig battery operated pens will work. The pens for the HP Slate 500, and the Fujitsu Q550 and Motion CL900 should all work. Fujitsu pen is easiest to order and is much much cheaper than HTC pen. It does not have the erase button though.
Fujitsu pen on HP Slate 500
I see that Fujitsu's pen with the part number FPCPN36AP is mentioned. Does anybody know if it works with the HP Slate 500? I am considering using one of those instead of the stock pen because:
1. It is not battery-operated.
2. Battery-operated pens seem to have a high failure rate. The frustration that this causes is demonstrated well by Flying Bear Entertainment's game Insaniquarium.
My fpcpn36ap requires a battery.
That is odd because I contacted Fujitsu directly and was informed that that pen is made of plastic and is not battery-operated.

N-trig and wacom are going head to head on pen technology. It would surprise me if any wacom pens work with the Flyer... But it would be worth a shot.

They are not reverse compatible. The tablet PC that I used prior to the HP slate 500, uses Wacom's technology and my father tested this.

for the 28, 32, and 43, which use resistive touch screens, anything will work. i personally have nice results on my 32 using a nintendo DS stylus. they're also cheap, so you don't have to worry about losing them occasionally.
for a 70 or 101, you'd want a capacitive stylus as the above posters suggested.

I like the DIY pen. I'm gonna start cutting up some old antistatic bags and see how it works. I have a couple pens, and neither can do dots. It will draw a line, but just pressing to the screen without moving doesn't draw a dot. As soon as it stops moving, it stops inputting. Horrible for Angry Birds, because it lets the bird go as soon as you pull back the sling and start aiming.
I think the A43 digitizer is plastic (which is bad, from the point of view of recognition--glass produces better accuracy), and what's worse, a softer plastic than any of the PalmOS devices I've used. I tried my Clie stylus, and it scratched the screen. I searched for a soft stylus among all the stylus-based devices we have at home, and finally I started using the spare stylus from my wife's HTC TouchPro2. The tip is nice and pointy, but also soft enough not to scratch the screen (or at least not much?). You can probably buy OEM ones somewhere online.
I wish I had a good way of attaching it to the device. Currently, I use the leather sleeve case, and I just tuck the stylus in--it's thin enough that it fits.

Can't say for the A43, but the A101 has a ton of space inside to make a stylus hole.

Cheapest I've found is Amazon.com, here.
It seems to be at least $40 everywhere else.
If you want to go cheap, any n-trig pen should work for the tpt. I had a stylus from an HP slate which worked just as well on my thinkpad. Problem would be fitting in it's holder though. Check eBay I got an official pen there new for around $40 (USA)

This isnt actually a cheaper option, but hear me out. The stylus from the HTC flyer works great with the Thinkpad Tablet, AND fits in the hole in the back of the device. The buttons on the pen apparently are useless, great for me, since I moved from a flyer to this - the pen was free because I already had the Flyer stylus.
Other than the HTC stlyus being grey as opposed to red/black - I cannot see any difference between the two. Only problem is - the HTC stylus is about 20 dollars more expensive than the lenovo one. /Facepalm

The three i've tested are the stock pen that comes with EP121, the Axiotron Studio, and the Axiotron Digitizer. Picked them up from here: http://www.nationwidesurplus.com/casearch.aspx?SearchTerm=wacom+pen with a 10% discount or so from a coupon code a few months back.
This is going to make it even harder not to carry my tablet with the note since I can tether the tablet to it..
I think any "Wacom Penenabled" pen will work with the device. I've noticed that so far that the eraser works, but the 2nd button does not.
do you know if the pressure sensitivity is more accurate with the wacom pens? The s-pen (at least mine) has almost no travel, seems like off and on.

I didn't even think about this possibility. I have a similar HP laptop with the touch and pen. Forget which model exactly, I have a new laptop now. However, if the pen works with the note when I get it, I'm going to constantly carry it with me unless I'm wearing basketball shorts or sweatpants, as the pen that came with my laptop is a great size and has some weight to it. i noticed last week that the wacom stylus for my Fujitsu T4220 works on the Note. i agree with OP, sounds like all wacom stylus' will work with the Note.
and yes, pressure sensitivity is noticed on the Note by this wacom stylus from my Fujitsu...so they probably all do that.

I own an HP Tx2500 and i pulled the pen out of it last night for fun... it also has a clicking button, much like the note...i was able to take a screenshot and pull up the S memo, just like i was using the S Pen. pretty neat
Anybody considering buying a high quality wacom pen? I think if I end up using the S Pen enough that I could see myself buying this:

Yeah that pen wont work you have to use a pen that works with a Wacom pennable display. These are specific pens that are designed for integrated tablet options. Try looking at IBM pens fore the x61 and above machines. they are all over Ebay and cheap about 15 - 20 dollars a pen. I'm sitting here in a room full of Intuos 3 and 4 pens and none of them actually work on my note, they are not compatible.
I Just tried a friends Cintiq pen, and it did not work on my note. Also tried the pen that came with my first generation 5" wacom tablet it also did not work; did try a pen off a random HP pen tablet in the office and that does work. Not sure what the differences in pen technology are, but obviously there are some.

There is a difference in many generations of Wacom pen tech. In my tests all of the Penabled styluses have worked very well. so it seems a good rule of thumb here when considering a higher quality stylus is if its a stylus designed for a Wacom branded product. Or a stylus for a 3rd party product that happens to use Wacom Technology. no first party products have worked in my tests and all 3rd party ones have. Currently I am using the stylus from the Samsung 7 series tablet. Eraser works, button works , a noticeable increase in pressure accuracy and above all else its better shielded to prevent the auto-pressing bug many are facing with the S-pen. I'd be shocked if Samsung doesn't try to market a "S-pen pro" device in the near future.
I purchased my 7 series tablet pen from amazon for about 30 bucks.

REALLY the slate's pen works?? I carry my slate pen everywere in my pocket ready to use on my slate, but i went to a best buy and decided to try my stylus on the note that i saw on display it didn't work =\ , I really hope it really does work because this will be great. But i do have the developers version of the slate, doubt that should make a difference. My note comes in a few days..cross my fingers!
Also for others interested the great thing about the Samsung Slate Stylus is that it has a penclip so i easily clip it to the inside of my pocket and not worry about it falling out.
Wacom "Penabled" pens work, which you'll usually find with tablet PCs. Confirmed with the pen from my Thinkpad X60.
Wacom's regular line of pens, such as from the Bamboo, or the Intuos, do not work.
Note that even the eraser on my Thinkpad pen worked in the Memo app! Very cool.
As a cheaper alternative to the Samsung digitizer pen (for the slate). There is a company called Nationwide Surplus that sells white Axiotron digitizer pens for about $18 with free shipping. It's basically the same thing as the Samsung.

I would've loved to have gone for one of those Axiotron pens, but I'm particular about my gadgets being black.
I went and opted for this Toshiba pen. At $35 shipped, it was the cheapest black pen I could find. Those Samsung pens started at $40ish shipped, and I like how it looked thinner and more pencil-like than the Samsung.

Cool. Also, if you are in need of another at some point you can search around for a Fujitsu branded one. These pens are all basically the same. And there are deals to be had. No real reason to pay more than $20 for one of these.
Anyone got any leads on a keyboard folio / case for the tablet? I think it would be the icing on the cake for me. I'm looking to get the LTE version and replace my qwerty phone which I use 95% of the time as a pocket computer rather than phone anyways.
eBay and Amazon don't have anything yet from what I can see.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I was thinking more along the lines of the previous recommendation. I'm sure alot of people don't understand, but I'm very attached to my qwerty slider phones, and am looking for a modern solution to this. For the life of me, I can't understand why in a geek driven market, more people aren't using their smart phones or tablets in IT and Engineering roles for quick code changes, responding to on-call support tickets without having to tote around a full laptop and wait to boot up, etc.. The clothing I wear has large enough cargo pockets for an 8" tablet, so if I could get one that fits with a keyboard, I'd have my next device.

- I only just saw it today & cannot report my experience yet; The zagg website can show you the local retailers that carry their stuff. Only see 1 seller so far on amazon, with ridiculous wait time, and another with a 2nd 8" model specified for samsung... The zagg site does not yet list nVidia Shields, but they have an 800 number. After looking at the website, I called Zagg customer support & talked to a real person who knew the product.
- Specific model: There is only one model that fits the new nVidia Shield tablet 8", with suitable cutouts etc. - it is the "AUTOFIT" for 8". The other model for 8" tablets won't be right.
- You can find it at retailers, but you can get a 10% discount by calling them to order directly
- It ain't cheap, but it has a 1 year warranty and tech support.
- The keyboard is not backlit (they only have one model of their wireless keyboard cases that does have a backlit keyboard at this time) - BUT they are working on backlit keyboards for their other models including the AutoFit, yay.
Zagg Autofit 8"
So I went to best buy and picked up the Zagg Autofit 8" and it's such an exact fit you would think it were an aftermarket device specifically for the shield. Pairs up nice, and does what you would expect from a bluetooth keyboard. As noted in the video review that was linked above, the stylus is not accessible, and for the most part, neither is the power button. I'll probably be using a file to shave a small amount of the case down so I can access both items.
Just to be clear, the stylus is in no way accessible without detaching the tablet partially. The power button, for my sized hands, is not accessible. Unfortunately, I did not have the luck of the video reviewer in being able to use it with fingertips. Must be these giant paws of mine.
I've also paired it up with the Razor Orochi, and can now play MMO's remotely using my tablet. Looks great, full features. etc.. :victory:

that one is specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Note, there are variants for other tablets such as Nexus 7 and others, but I couldn't find one for the Shield tablet

I had gotten this little usb keyboard for (probably) $19 a few years ago for my Nexus 7, but it fits the Shield Tablet like a glove. Makes it a mini laptop. Has a sleep key and it just works perfectly with usb otg adapter! I'm delighted!
