[Q] Pls Help, worst battery on stock official jelly bean firmwares + rooted - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
i am losing battery even when i am connected to the wall mount charger, in battery stats media scanner tops the list with 60%+ followed by android system. i tried to solve it by clearing data for media scanner, factory reset, pulling out the battery, etc., but still the battery is getting lower even when connected to the wall mount charger, this doesnt happen on official stock ics unrooted. .
official latest DLJ4 + cf root 6.4
Kindly help me out xda.
Thanks, Regards.
Edit :
I guess i found a possible reason for the battery still draining despite of charging through a wall mount charger (or you can say slow wall mount charging).
As I am from india and so is my s3. The csc of the official stock rom i downloaded (DLJ4) was OXA (KOR). I guess the voltages may differ in both countries and hence the slow speed of charging through wall mount chargers. I am back to 4.0.4 though, will jump back to JB as soon as there is any proper reasoning for this behaviour of these roms.

Try rescind media root app... can be found in xda....
Will disable the media scan after it scans. Solved my media scan problems
Sent from my Jelly Omega SIII using XDA App

My problem is not any proccess that consumes battery, it is that battery is draining despite of being connected to the charger.
Thanks for the reply though.

Backup data and factory reset .
That does not work reflash firmware .

Where can it be found in XDA?
Ive searched and havent found it.
Thanks
Update: I was having battery drain issues with the media server being 2nd highest for battery consumption.
I think it might be google now which is killing all the battery, Its currently disabled and my phone is fully charged.
Will report back in a few hours with some results.

Update 2: Disabling Google Now has helped, but Media (media storage, downloads, download manager, DRM pro cont storage and com.sec.adnroid.providers.downlaods).
Is not first on my battery usage.
I am going to back up my SD card, and format it.
In just over 2 hours my phone has used almost 30% battery, and the phone does get slightly warm when this media is using CPU.
Will report back asap
Update: factory Reset Phone, Restored My Data And Apps, The Media Server I'd Still Killing Battery

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II Freezes on Standby [SOLVED]

I would like some help from users having same issues. I bought my SGS II About 3 weeks ago... It was all working fine... stock KG7 not rooted. A few days ago it started doing some weird stuff... like random reboots during standby and freezing unable to turn on unless you take out the battery... tried to restore factory setting i installed the new LightningRom 6.1 and the issue is still there... is there a logging app that can save log before a crash? so i can see what is happening? Or is someone having the same issue as i am. Thank you very much for your time and help Cheers
PS. tried to format usb storage and still have same problem... so really don't know what is the problem...
I have finally found a solution... installed XXKH3 FW stock, not rooted yet, and installed an application from the android market called Load Monitor
Code:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.landak.loadmon
and enabled only Add Notifications, only notify high load, autostart and only screen on... seems to do the job, no battery drainage and most of all NO SOD (Sleep Of Death) or restarts anymore
Hope it helps someone
Cheers
Bump
Bump... Added VillianRom newest version still have the freeze on standby problem.. Apparently when no apps are running it just crashes and i can't turn it on only by going to CWM or odin... and reseting... Any help would be really appreciated
Do you have a software installed called SetCPU?
No... only facebook, google+, Game Dev Story and Dragon Fly...
Faulty Hardware
Mine did the same; replacement phone is perfect.
Sadly it's not an option for me... i bought it used without warranty papers... it was cheaper... i may have stumbled on a solution... cleared Dalwin Cache and it seems to work good now... we will see in a few days how the situation progresses... i will keep you posted
Installed stock XWKF3 AND IT SEEMS to have fixed the prob. Left it overnight unplugged with wifi off and i had a 1% drain of battery for over 8 hours :-D very sattisfied. Installed standard apps now so.i`ll see how it goes. Keep you posted.

Had to turn on Wake Lock. That means my phone doesn't go to deep sleep anytime. Tried a bunch of roms and all the same result. Tried setcpu configs of all kinds and nothing still. Still get freeze up and insane battery drain durring deep sleep. What helps is flashing syah kernel an putting min cpu freq to 100 that way not that much battery drain.
Any1 have an idea what to do?

i also have the same problem on my gt-9100T and still it is still happening. first time it happened when i uninstalled social hubs. at that time i was running lite'ning rom v6.1 and only used the phone for 1 month. then the freeze/ sleep of death occur.
i have tried flashing to stock rom/modem/kernel from intratech thread to no avail.
some people can fix the prob by cleaning the battery contact point. some by cleaning the mini usb port. still no luck for me.
right now running on criskelo latest build (KL1 2.3.6)with T-KL1 modem, siyah .9+ and the problem still persist.
so, installed load monitor and u/v and set the min freq to 100Mhz to preserve battery but still can only last 12hours even unused.load monitor seems to use a lot of juice. very frustrating. i need to tick the wakelock option otherwise SOD right after the screen is off.
I am still hoping someone/anyone who might have the solution the share with us all.
is it a good idea to format /system + /emmc + everything? i have done full wipe, still no good.

SIM card = Removed
Mirco SD card = Removed
so far no problem
thank you..
im trying to get the last thing it did before the phone crashs
I just installed Load Monitor... I just wonder, what exactly is Load Monitor doing? or supposed to do?
This SOD is driving me crazy, I hope it gets fixed

Factory reset your phone.
Well yeah resetting the phone did fix it, it was the last course of action i wanted to take, but nothing else fixed it, so thank you.
Any idea why it happened? what can cause the stats to no longer be collected?, it sucks having to reset the phone because of that...
Use the phone stats are rebuilt in time .

battery life and very warm phone

Hi,
I have found that my battery which currently is still the standard one drains very fast and my phone is getting very warm.
However I have noticed that once my battery hits 50% it cools down and does not deplete so quickly.
I do have a programme that is left running which is a VOIP / SIP client I use CSipSimple.
Is there something that I could try to get the phone to last longer on the battery?

1. Post your ROM details. Goto Settings - About, post everything, preferably a screenshot.
2. Post screenshot of your battery info
3. Download better battery stats (paid in playstore, free on XDA), and check what's causing the problem.
4. Download cpuspy, run it for some time and check your cpu usage

Hi,
Ok I have attached a few screen shots as asked
I have downloaded CPU SPY and will leave this to gather some info and I have also downloaded BATTERY SPY and will do the same.
Do you have a link to better battery stats?
I have also noticed that when I leave my phone on when charging it gets very very hot and sometimes does not full charge after a 9 hr charging window.
However if I switch the phone off it stays cool and is fully charged.
First try to remove your external sd card and check if problem has been solved. Sometimes if there are corrupted media files or there is huge amount of such data, media scanner gone crazy and bootloops itself when trying to index them all.
You could use some kind of apps to disable media scanner (old Nitrality or something newer like Rescan Media ROOT) or remove your movies, music and pictures temporary from phone. After that wipe data of media storage and gallery from settings-applications menu and reboot your phone.
Of course do not overclock your phone. You could also try to set it in battery saving (eco) mode when charging. Disable all wireless communication (mobile data, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS) and turn Airplane mode on.
Sometimes phone is getting hot while playing games when WiFi or mobile data are enabled. This could be kernel related issue (if custom) or inproper to your baseband Radio Interface Layer (RIL) driver installed. You can fix it by installing Getril from playstore and downloading ril corresponding to actually used baseband.
Of course it could be also some crapware on your phone installed. Or configuration issues (scheduled tasks, etc.) I don't know what kind of apps you have got on your device and how you using them. If your problem persist than try to factory reset your phone to be sure that this is not some kind of app issue.

I have now installed getril and installed RIL its tell me that the RIL and Baseband does not match what do I do? I have also attached a screen shot
Download & install matching RIL.

How do I find out which RIL I need and where can I download it from?
You can choose it in this app. Tap on the ril above 'Download & install Ril ' button and select one which match your baseband or leave this proposed by app and hit mentioned above button.

Thought you would say that I have tried that but it still tells me the RIL and Baseline do not match after I have installed it.
In this case you could try to flash LPA modem (for this one you have ril installed). Or flash any other modem you like and than change your ril.
Reboot after changing to be sure it's properly loaded.

I'm getting similar issues, phone heating up, battery draining very fast. I've recently brought a new 2500mA battery from Ebay, and have been getting very fast drain issues. It has been going on for a few days now, even before the new battery. If you could tell me how to set up better battery stats, I'd happily provide you with a dump. I've tried changing from ICS to JB. Downloaded the correct RIL. Reset the fuel gauge, calibrated the battery at 100% Only thing I've not tried is gingerbread (I've never had GB on this device) and starting over with ODIN.

I'm using the latest Resurrection Remix Jellybean rom with Siyah Kernel v.4.1.2 . I'm gonna put my standard battery in for the night and leave the betterbattery stats running. Still not sure how to work it. Do I just install and give it roof access? I've flashed back to stock using Odin and the drain was still present.

[Q] How to debug a MTK6573

Hello,
I'm experiencing a battery drain in a Dapeng A7. Sometimes the battery charge decreases even though it's plugged to the charger.
I can see that when it happens the wifi don't switch off, even though I have set it in the settings, and it fact some times it does.
I have get some logcat but the only thing I noticed was just several ACTION_BATTERY_CHANGED, but without timestamp.
I would need some extra information, combining top, with logcat, and some more command you will suggest for sure.
I have rooted the phone, so any command will be available.
Any suggestion? Meanwhile I'm testing some battery savers.
Thank you
Some more information would be useful are you using a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or stock recovery are you using the stock ROM or something like Cyanogenmod it could be hardware causing the issue like dying/dead charger or dying/dead battery or it could be software with Clockworkmod you can clear battery stats have you tried turning off everything from Wi-Fi (Already mentioned), 3G Mobile Data, Bluetooth, Network Location, GPS etc to see if it had any affect on the battery maybe you could try searching an App to do these things if Android is bugged as a temporary solution.

Thank you for the answer.
I have just rooted the device with its stock ROM, but I havent found any reference about installing Cyanogenmod or Clockworkmod.
Anyway, I have experienced this leakage after a factory reset, disabling wifi and 3G, ... I have tried to locate which app can be battery consuming, but without success. Well, one of them, I don't remember, always says that it was Google Calendar sync. Can be gapps?
Moreover, now I have been reading a French forum and I'm not alone
http://ciphone.fr/blog/blog1.php/dapeng-a7-5-en-test
However no one has a clear answer. Perhaps is the charger problem, but I have tested with diferent cables and chargers.
And the worst thing that sometime charging works fine.
Do you happen to know if there is any command like logcat but with a timestamp in each line?
Thank you

Yes, it's working fine... haven't found any bugs as yet... If you encounter any bugs, post them here please
Update process...OK
Bugs: LAUNCHER error
I have no launcher error, I also installed apex launcher and it works perfect...only thing I see so far is rapid battery drain while on standby...
Android 6 Working OK
No Launcher error after upgrade, but in Lollipop i have Nova Launcher prime installed as default. After the upgrade, Nova Launcher still is the default Launcher.
NO battery problems too... in fact, the battery is working better now after the upgrade.
A minor issue, when connect the phone to the computer via USB cable, always connect like "Only Charge Battery", i have to switch manually to "Transfer data"... nothing to worry...

problem charging the battery
after i upgraded to android 6 the charging don't work well, the batery charges very slow!!! i already did hard reset and doesn't fix it. what i can do
That's the same problem I'm having ....charge your phone and put it down for a few hours, the battery will drain drastically! That didn't happen before! The charge time is incredibly slower!
How to recover update menu? I deleted OTA for not working. Any way to reinstall or I have to wipe and install Stock rom?
You gonna have to do a factory Reset...

Works fine. Only problem is Launcher error
The update has been a total disaster for me. The battery drains out amazingly fast. The sound suddenly dissapears while using it for a couple of hours (all the sounds: i.e. alarm, incoming calls, sms, mms, etc.) so I keep restarting it every 2 hours or so, to avoid this issue. Also, the charging time is extremely slow.
Only issue is the battery drain and charge time...back up your files and to a Hard Reset

I did a factory reset already and nothing happens. :crying:
After updating to Marshmallow my Blu Vivo 5 is presenting battery drain (mainly by idle phone/stand by and Wi-Fi processes) and problems on frontal cam focus.
I tried hard reset twice, cleaning app cache and system cache, which solved temporarily the frontal cam problem (returned automatically after 2 days).
Battery drain continues dispite of the battery calibration and an app which controls Wi-Fi when the cellphone is idle. Battery before the update lasts 23 - 28 hours. Now, between 10 and 16 hours.
Total disaster.

Same issue. Tho the camera is not giving me as much issue. Then again I don't use it that much.
Also notice that some apps that use to work perfectly are not. Have a profile scheduler app that does not change the profile in background anymore I need to actually open the app for it to change still trying to figure if it's good enough to open b4 the scheduled change

My battery draining issue solved....
You can solve this by using your cell phone until the battery is completely dead...use it until it is powered down completely (shuts off). Then connect your charger and get it to 100%...
That worked for me....hope it works for you as well ☺
