[Q] Bluetooth...?? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After installing and replacing a few Liquid ICS roms (liquid0624, jester & twistedumbrella), all of them seem to one common problem that I can not solve...Making a phone call with a bluetooth headset (Jawbone ERA & BlueAnt Q2) is very difficult. Here is the scenario...I pair the headset, when I then try to place a call, the phone acts as if it has connected, however, there is no sound at either end of the call. I go through this maybe two or three times before the call is 'connected'. If i try the call with out the headset...no problem Any thoughts??? Thank you for the help...

What kernel is your ROM using? Try the latest imoseyon AOSP kernel if you are using another. This fixed my issues.

What Next...??
Currently, I am using twistedumbrella's Liquid ICS/CM9 rom...very nice.
It took my Thunderbolt to Android 4.0.4 and uses Kernel version: 2.6.35.14-TwistedMecha-v1.0.6+...
Is this the most up-to-date kernel for an ICS rom or is there another kernel that is more reliable..
What are my options??
Ty
ghdroiduser

Actually my bad. Unless imoseyen updated his kernels his doesn't support ICS. When I had ICS I don't remember what I did to get BT working but I do remember it was kernel related. I'll see if I can go back and see what it was, unless someone comments before me.

This is a known intermittent problem, and I have experienced it too. There is a very easy workaround. While in the call screen, switch from bluetooth to handset or speaker, then back to bluetooth. Then you will hear the other person and vice versa. If you do this while the call is ringing, then the other person won't experience dead air at all.

[Q] Question for Rooted users with Custom Roms

I have one major issue with the thunderbolt and it is 100% a software issue. I believe ASOP roms or desensed roms may fix the issue and would like someone to verify before I purchase.
The issue is as follows:
* Plug in Normal headphones or aux cable without a inline mic and attempt to make a phone call or receive one....the other side cannot hear you till you either put them on speakerphone or unplug your headset/aux cable.
* All other Mic required application will still work Google V search, Skype, etc, just the built in dialer doesn't.
What I'm interested in:
* People with custom roms/kernels testing above and letting me know if the Mic isn't getting muted for them when they "Plug in Normal headphones or aux cable without a inline mic and attempt to make a phone call or receive one"
* What Rom/kernels you are using.
/bump ten char
I've experienced the same thing on various roms, not sure of a fix. Happens on das BAMF, tesla, and the pre-alpha CM7
I bought my TB from my buddy specifically because that was a #1 requirement for him. Bluetooth stereo with hands free and A2DP for me
i've heard of this issue on non-sense roms, but didn't have the stock rom on the phone long enough to test this...
It's due to the noise cancellation stuff in the device...

Any way around it?
I've been using the Shure MPA-3C adapter for several phones now. Worked great with my TP2 and DX. You can use any headphones you like and since it provides the mic there is no hacking required.
Www dot shure dot com/americas/products/earphones-headphones/music-mobile/mpa-music-phone-adapter
I heard that HTC is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. (i think i read it in a forum on android central). Would be nice to be able to use the regular mic with headphones.

[Q] ICS Passion v9.0 -- Inconsistently Poor Call Quality

Hello gentlemen!
First of all, I want to thank neobuddy and everyone that he worked with on the ICS Passion ROM. I find it excellent and have been using it for the past week or so.
I do have a slight issue, though, and as I am not yet familiar with mobile development, I am not sure if the problem stems from my hardware or the software. I bought this Vibrant used, though in excellent condition. As soon as it arrived, I rooted it and installed ICS Passion on it. Therefore, I never actually used the stock software, and that is why I am unsure if this issue stems from the ROM or from the phone itself.
Anyway, my problem is that sometimes during a call, my voice will cut in and out very frequently. This occurs with various people and in various places, so it doesn't have anything to do with signal strength. I can hear the other person just fine. It also seems to only occur when I receive a call. Once I hang up and call the person back, they seem to be able to hear me just fine.
I suspect that this has something to do with one of the following:
1) Sound filtering and normalization. The way that the software handles the data that it receives from the microphone. If it was the microphone itself, I would expect this issue to be much more consistent.
2) Which network the phone uses during phone calls. I've gathered that H is for data transfer and 3G is for phone calls (for the most part). Is it possible that ICS Passion somehow fails to switch to the proper network when a call is received? This seems unlikely as I searched through the ICS Passion thread in the dev forum, but couldn't find an issue similar to mine.
Any insight would be appreciated, although I suppose if no one can help out I can just flash the stock and see if the problem persists. If it does, then I can only assume it's the phone.
Thanks!
try v 10 or v 10.6
Mute and then unmute your call. We've had this problem since cm7

Sweet, good to know, thanks. Do you know of a more permanent solution?

I'm afraid to upgrade to v10 because some people have been experiencing issues with their phones rebooting several minutes into the call. I may try it anyway, though.
Do you know if your problem is with incoming calls only?? That's where the issue seems to be, that the mute/unmute fixes. I put 10 on about a week ago, and am loving it. Put 10.5 on yesterday, and 10.6 today, so they are working on it. I think 10.6 might have fixed it for me, so I'm so happy. Thought Bionix was going to be the end of the line, I tried a couple of gingerbread roms, and had issues!

Been on v10 for a week and have not had the reboot problem. I've heard 10.6 has some problems but yeah the mute/unmute bug isn't that bad you get used to it

That's what it seems like. I have not had a single "you sound like you're underwater" issue for outgoing calls.
Thanks for the responses, everyone. I'm glad to find out that the problem isn't with the phone because I can't afford to replace it for a while. I guess I'll just wait a bit and hope that these slight issues get resolved in a more stable iteration.

[Q] Serious Annoying Problem with Galaxy SII sound

Guys Im experiencing two major annoying problem which I have no Idea where it came from...
1. Once I Listening to music with headsets if any1 msg me or any notification come up the music will play on Speakers for a second and again come back to headphones.
2. again the time of listening to music while Im browsing or tapping on something the Music volume Increases Suddenly alot for a short time and again comes down.
(for example I open another application while music plays in background, or I only on or off anything like wifi, it cause music volume increase for a second and lower down again)
It really starts to suffer me I have tried many things such as using different Kernels, Flashing Roms, Reset Factories, Using Different Players...
HELP!
Is this happening with regular headphones on or a bluetooth headset of some kind?
I dont think you can do anything about the message alert apart from putting it in silent, but have you tried turning down or off your system volume?
I have this same problem. Like if I'm listening to music and lock the screen, each button i press for my pin it will go louder for that moment i press a number. Then, when i open a program, it goes louder at that point as well. Really strange.

So it only happens using SuperRom? I misunderstood your first post and thought you had tried other roms. If that's the case, you definitely need to wait for the rom dev to fix it.
As for ICS, it's almost here. I'm running ICS (AdyScorpiusMIUI) right now and it's running very, very well. But I would wait until something stable is released.

Im not sure its the SuperRom problem or not coz Ive been experiencing the same issue using Juffo Rom.
Yes, MIUI roots are great without any doubt but too bad non of them are supported for i9100G at the moment, only few roms are out for my model. and we cannot install those roms belong to i9100.

[Q] Headset Microphone cutting in and out on Task's AOKP 5.1.12/Siyah v3.2rc1

I've searched for this problem, found some stuff that is close but I haven't been able to find it exactly.
Speakerphone and built-in microphone work fine.
But when I use my headset (Bose MIE2), the microphone fades in and out when I am on a call. People say it will sound fine and then start to sound "tinny" or like I'm "in a can". Seems like this happens when I stop talking and they speak and the background noise becomes louder to the caller. And it doesn't last. It fades in and out, several times on a call.
This headset worked fine on stock AT&T Gingerbread.
About two months ago, I decided to root my phone for the first time and install a modded ROM. So I flashed CM7. Headphone mic worked fine on CM7.
Bose microphone was also working fine on CM9 - one of the early release candidates.
At that point, flashing became easy so I started on the nightlies (I'm sounding like an addict, aren't I? I feel like one!!!).
Then I found my dream flasher/pusher, Task! I've been on AOKP ROM (currently up to date on the 5.1.2012 release) ever since. Awesome ROM, if you haven't tried it.
Still having the headphone mic issue though.
I've wiped fully several times (yes, I read every post in your thread, Task), trying to clear this up.
I also wondered if the headphones where jacked so I returned them to Bose and the new pair is presenting the same issue.
I have read all about the built-in mic swapping issues with the different kernels.
I've tried NEAK and Siyah and I'm careful to be sure I have the mic swapping versions for AOKP/CM. My phone does not like NEAK at all. Loves Siyah - getting fantastic battery life (14 hours today, 27% screen time and WiFi on all day with 20% battery remaining) and responsive. I'm currently on the latest Siyah ICS [v3.2rc1] with UC 200 to 1000, lulz/vr only. It is also awesome, thanks, Ktoonsez!
I'm wondering if that mic swapping on the phone has anything to do with the mic on the headset.
Also, is there anything else I can check to help troubleshoot this in more detail?
Finally, are there any controls for headphone mics or even microphone settings in ROM Control or anywhere else that can be adjusted?
Thanks for your help in advance!
The NEAK kernel only has one choice for Tasks rom, no need to pick between mic swap.

I'm wishing it was that simple. On NEAK, I've tried the AOSP - still have the issue. My phone freezes too often on that kernel.
On Siyah, I get the mic swap version for AOKP/CM - still having the issue.
The latest Siyah runs like a beast and gets fantastic battery, just has the fading issue.

[Q] ICS Phone Calls Over Headphone Jack

Hi guys, I have asked this question in various ICS/Miui 4 threads with no help.
Any time I use my phone via headphones to make calls, on any ics rom, I get horrible call quality. I have tried just about every ics/miui(4) rom out there, flashed the mute/unmute patch...nothing works. When the party I call answers, I don't hear it, there's a 1-2 sec dropout, and then when they talk, it cuts out, just like being in a no signal area. I have full bars, and the problem is only on headphones, and as soon as I take it off and put it up to my ear, it's clear. Also, if I go to a 2.2 or 2.3 rom, all is good, and the headphone jack is fine because music plays fine (under ICS), it's only a phone call issue.
Anyone else experience this?
Also, latest rom I am on has 2 different phone apps...both= same issue...
This is the exact same thing I'm facing on all ics roms and it seems no1 knows how to fix it. Hope somebody does soon.
