[Q] Lockscreen security problem! Confused! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
On my security options for my lock-screen on my Samsung Galaxy S3, i've been able to choose different options like swipe, pin code, password etc.
Now somewhat, I can't. Anyone familiar with this? It tells me this: "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage".
I would appreciate if someone would help me out here, as I want to change this. Thanks.

Try forcing an update of busybox from within the Superuser app. Otherwise, you must have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere.

Nope, I only set up my gmail account

Go to security settings and see whether you have set any administrators or not....if yes then remove it

Got it fixed by deleting all of my VPN networks. Thanks to everyone who took their time to respond me.

This worked for me

Thanks for the post joaksle. Deleting my VPN settings also fixed the problem for me. Weird why these settings caused the lock screen options to be disabled!

It's because corporate VPNs have security policies set by their admins, which cause the device to disable certain features. The same thing happens if you set up an Exchange email account. I think that the policies are set by the company IT admin as per company requirements, so you won't see the same behaviour with every VPN or exchange account. Of course I might be wrong about it depending on the company, so someone please correct me I am. The idea seems to be that pattern unlock and face unlock are relatively easier to crack than a traditional PIN code lock, so they disable these methods and allow only the PIN lock (or more methods depending on the policy).

Photo Privacy

I have a mate who loves showing me his S3 while I still wait for my S2 contract to finish. When he visits my home however, photos from my phone and tablet will appear on the photo gallery of my friend's phone. I have provided him the password for my home wifi network, but i haven't given any other permissions. Passwords to all my google accounts or Google+ accounts have been kept private, yet the photos appear on my friends phone.
Of course when he leaves my wifi network the access to my pics disappears. Is there a privacy setting that i might employ to make my pics more secure? I didn't think that wifi access provided privacy access to photos on all network related devices. Or is this a feature of the S3 that it is able to manipulate wifi access to all related devices? Any ideas would be appreciated.

im pretty sure that it's not an S3 option.. maybe it's on your PC/network setting? u may have ticked some "sharing options"
i hope this will help

[Q] Jellybam ROM problem

Hi, a couple of weeks ago i installed successfully the jellybam 5.0.0 (i think) ROM on my device. And yet it works perfect as for a little problem. I set up a lock screen password and today i decided to use my phone without a password....i went to the settings menu but there it is written that the "no password mode" is deactivated by admin. Has anybody idea how to solve this problem? Thanks
Do you have a VPN connection configured? If yes, a lockscreen pin/pattern/password is required.

hmm no, i think that all happaned after i installed some certificates which where required to connect to the university wi-fi. it said something like i need to create a password or sth. i dont exactly remember and i didnt read it carefully enough and the password i entered came to be actually the one on my lockscreen...

Does the app 'Tasker' not work with Verizon GS4?

I tried 2 profiles so far and they both don't work. The "lockscreen off when connected to certain wifi" and the "turn wifi on when near a specific cell tower". I follow video guides for both, and they're simple enough, that I don't believe I made any mistakes. Yet, they're not working.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I need to enable first?
Did our install secure setting and it's helper?

works great on my GS4. It may help if you elaborate on what exactly isnt working. did you update the profile with your SSID?
You need to install secure settings plugin from play store.
I currently have tasker setup to disable my pin lock when connected to my home network

I created a profile in tasker. This should work but I have not tested it.
You will need to import the project.
- press/hold home button in tasked
- click import: pattern
- click untrusted
- not WiFi connected
- ssid: "input wireless network name"
- click trusted
- not WiFi connected
- ssid : "Input wireless network name"
- turn both profiles on
Hope that works

Have you tried Llama? It's a more powerful app.

Hmm. I'll have to look into that one. But I use Automateit instead. So far I really like it, I feel it's got a more user friendly interface than tasker, but my only complaint is that when I set it to silence my phone at work, and at the end of the day it sets the volume back, text messages are still silent, so it takes a reboot to get it back. So I just set it to reboot 1 minute after the sound is set to turn back on.

I'm sorry, but Llama is in no way more powerful.
It may be easier to use, but as far as power goes, Tasker has much more. It has the ability to do more things based on more "states".

I set it to permissive, and rebooted and it's still the same.
I think Knox disabled it, should I activate Knox?
Settings > more > security > clear credentials. My girlfriend had the same problem on her htc one. Caused probably by an app that used a vpn, and upon uninstalling, the certificate wasn't removed. This should work in that case provided the app is uninstalled
