HTC Desire X sim-unlock done
I have successfully sim-unlocked my Desire X with a unlock code from unlock-now.com.
It took a few days until i got the unlock code but it worked.

Well thats great!
But i'm kinda noob here, so could you please explain, what does the sim-unlocking process do?

There's explanations on unlock-now.com.

Mosh don simply put whr to find it
Marten ,A handset can be unlocked by entering a code provided by the network operator. Alternative mechanisms include software running on the handset or a computer attached to the handset, hardware devices that connect to the handset or over-the-air by the carrier. Usually the unlock process is permanent. The code required to remove all locks from a phone is referred to as the master code, network code key, or multilock code. There can also be multiple levels of locks placed on the phone by networks, which block the use of other networks SIM cards. These are usually referred to as "Network" (NCK) or "Service Provider" (SPCK) locks and can be removed using the corresponding unlock codes, which are unique to each phone depending on the its IMEI.
Typically, a locked handset will display a message if a restricted SIM is used, requesting the unlock code handsets may display different messages such as "Enter special code" or "Enter unlocking code" or in some cases the handset will simply display a message stating that it is locked. Once a valid code is entered, the handset will display "Network unlocked".
The unlock code is verified by the handset and is generated by the network provider, typically by an algorithm such as a one way hash or trapdoor function. The algorithms used in many handsets are based on the IMEI number and the MCC code and have been reverse-engineered, stolen or leaked. Most handsets can be unlocked using software that generates an unlock code from an IMEI number and country and operator details using the algorithm specific to the handset. Other manufacturers have taken a more cautious approach, and embed a random number in the handset's firmware that is only retained by the network on whose behalf the lock was applied. These handsets can still be unlocked, but need to be connected to special unlocking hardware that will rewrite the part of its firmware where the lock status is kept, and often even recover a phone that is bricked or completely damaged in the software sense. However, other handsets, notably the high-end PDAs and smart-phones, can be unlocked by the use of software that can read the unlock code directly from the firmware. In case of Android handsets, the bootloader of the device can be unlocked to flash a new CID number(11111111, which indicates an unlocked device) and hence the SIM Lock is effectively removed.
Most handsets have security measures built into their firmware that protects them from repeated attempts to guess the unlock code. After entering more than a certain number of incorrect codes the phone becomes hard-locked and unlocking hardware must to be used in order to unlock them.

Still nothing new about unlocking HTC desire X sim?
I already tried couple unlock codes and i am just a step before locking my network permanently, so please if someone know proven service which unlock Desire X send me a note or post here. Of course i dont have problems to pay, but only if you have positive experience and results.

You still can't, because we didn't manage to S-OFF the Desire X. S-OFF means that your phone doesn't have protection, so with having S-OFF you can flash new CIDs.

thats not exactly true, even with s-off you cant change youre cid these days, you need an engineering hboot for that (or a clean s58 diag file and a whitecard)

Did you find any solution to unlock your phone?

Bump
Bumping this thread since hasoon2000 who apparently has a solution to this, doesn't reply back when PM'ing.. :/ If someone knows a service that charges for SIM-unlocking which doesn't require your device to be than a month old, feel free to send a PM.

Still nothing?

hey guys i have a problem and wondering if you have the same, when i try a different sim on the phone(other curier) the phone freezes, the touch screen doesn't work, nothing. Coult this be because of the custom rom?(i didn;t try this before in stalling a custom rom on the device).Srry for my bad english. Have a nice day!

At&t won't unlock my Aria

I understand there are two ways to unlock your HTC aria.
One is to buy the unlock codes on some website.
The second, free way is to call AT&T after three months and they will unlock it for free.
However, I have called AT&T twice and they don't have the unlock code available even after giving them my IMEI number. I'm puzzled by this. Is anyone else having the same problem? They said the computer or database don't have the Aria unlock code in the system. What's going on here?
Big brother just tricked you. They are tracking you now. Throw the phone away. Use cash only. Don't use your real name.

AT&T doesn't have to give you the unlock code for the Aria until the exclusivity for that device has expired. Your only choice for now is to unlock it using a third party website.
Get the unlock code through a website like the most of us did, its just $15 or $20 bucks and they send you an email with the code almost instantly..

be sure to search ebay first. i found an unlock code for my backflip for only 2 dollars, the same for a few other phones I've had!
!
You know...I'd be interested to find out how these unlock codes are generated...seems like people are robbing people of their money when they are selling these things...it probably isn't the easiest thing in the world to figure the algorithm out (if that's how they do it) but i can only imagine that once you do figure it out, it's a short process thereafter to generate unlock codes for people based on whatever information they need...

there is software that does this. unfortunately i think they require a USB Dongle to run the s/w and it is expensive.... until the Russians crack it anyway. LOL
anyone suggest a reliable unlocking site?? there are so many scams out there taking money and not producing a usable code.
Most of the unlock website I found are reliable as far as give me money back when they can't get it. ATT and quite a few inexpensive website can't unlock my Aria. Some on top of refund, give me free unlock code for future. I end up found someone said "doing it manually". Took him 3 day and $25 later, he gave me the code.

rooting just gives you the "ultimate-true-genuine" etc rights to modify the phone the way you want it
to unlock the phone it's a different story. You will only need to unlock it if you're traveling outside the US
Or to switch to T-mobile.

Last sentence not quite correct; a clarification. You don't need to unlock if you travel outside the US. The Aria works just fine in other countries; you will incur additional costs as a result because you are roaming on foreign networks but AT&T has plans you can buy ahead of time and terminate when you get back home. Now the clarification part: if you do have an unlocked phone you can use a SIM card from other providers in other countries (which you will have to purchase or borrow from someone that lives there). Unlocking simply allows you to use another SIM cards, fore example, like Tmobile (a GSM network) in the US. If you don't unlock, your are limited to AT&T SIM cards. Unlocking is really not necessary unless you want to run on different networks in the US and outside the US.
Don't worry i will help you...You can get the Unlock code better from Online site,Basically network provider ask you to wait to get the code from them, they will give the code,it's available in Data base,So if you need Code immediately means you can get the unlock code from here www.Superunlockcodes.com and get the free unlocking instructions from here Mobileunlockguide.com and unlock it step by step.

I travel quite a lot through Europe and since AT&T's roaming charges are quite high, I had to unlock my Aria so that I can use local GSM carriers over there. I used www.cellunlocker.net last year. Their "regular" service for $4.99 was not able to produce the code for my Aria and they gave me a refund. I then purchased their "advanced" service for $19.99 and had the unlock code in 3 hours.
One more note about the benefit of unlocking: Once your phone is unlocked, it stays unlocked. So you need to purchase and use the unlock code only once.

Aria unlock question

Well, as far as i have seen in here theres still no method to unlock the htc Aria. Only with a code or maybe the box. Just want to make sure about that because i read in other thread that htc did not made samsung mistake about leaving the unlock code inside the bin files so people can find it. But at the same time there are methods to unlock the mytouch 4g for example and the inspire and some others so. Is there a way is the unlock via code the only way?

As far as I know the getting the unlock code is the only way. I got my code last year and the cost was $20. It might be cheaper now.
You can SIM unlock the device with an XTC Clip, but it'd be cheaper to just buy the code instead unless you intend to unlock several devices. AT&T will give you your unlock code for free if your account is in good standing. (You don't even have to call them -- you can get it by logging in on their website.)

I do not know in which country you are now but in the U.S. for a few days is illegal without ahutorizacion unlock operator. If you're not in the U.S. you can use cellunlock.net, I use last month from Argentina and in three hours they sent me the unlock code.
The wording on the new law is strange. It has been interpreted that the phone can still be unlocked if purchased prior to the law going into effect.
Some time ago about a year or two you are able to call up at&t and tell them that you would like to use the phone in Mexico and they would be able to give you an unlock code. I don't know if that is still okay but I would phone them up and tell them that you would like to use the phone in Mexico. I don't know if that method still works.

lock code is available, but I am wondering if att can tell I ulocked when I get back from my trip to mexico?
suppose any ramifications now that there is this new 'law'?
can they tell? do they care as long as I pay my bill/keep my contract?
Can they tell and will they report you seem to be the questions on everyone's mind right now. My guess is that if they tried to, then yes, they could probably tell. Chances are high, however, that unless there will be some direct ramifications for them, then they won't care. But of course no one knows for sure at this point.

[Q] Network locked

Last few days I've been reading and searching the forum up and down, to find some useful info about how to bypass network lock.... so far I'm even more confused than I was before.
The problem: my phone is locked to specific network and doesn't work with sim card from another provider. Is it possible to unlock it so I can use it on other networks?
Is it solvable? Does rooting help?
I've read a few threads about s-off, is that the thing I need ?
Thanks to the guys willing to help.
This might help?

They don't want to help me, because they want to force me to use their network sim while im out of my county, but roaming is way too expensive and cant afford it atm
Just ask around your area where you live and you'll find someone to sim unlock your phone (if not then try local market) or you could even buy the unlock code and do it yourself

guys, buying code is probably the last thing I'll do...
First of all I'm new in android but I'm curious more than enough, and I want to learn things... It would be great if senior or more experienced members share their thoughts on what's right and what's wrong and eventually save me a lot of time and nerves. It's funny how there are so few threads about unlocking network ? Perhaps because it's the fastest way to make good money for some ppl ?
I do have experience in maintenance of Linux systems, but I have no previous experience in rooting/unlocking or what so ever related to smart phones.
So ..... It would be great if any senior/experienced members shared their knowledge/experience on this subject (how to unlock phone so it can be used on different providers.)
As far as I can see Hasoon2000 AIO kit makes rooting as simple as it can get.... but will that remove network lock? I don't need to install any other access privileged apps, demanding games.....
ahhhhmmm..... :

You can get the S58Data cleared via JTAG, that means your phone should be sim/network unlocked.
But you have to find some shop/person to have such a JTAG box...

btw. For all sin souls who bought phone from !!! carrier - VIP country - Macedonia !!!, avoid buying codes online, they are wrong, VIP operator has replaced original HTC codes with their own codes, which you can't have (they won't give them to you) ....

[Q] [HTC Desire 310] Best way to unlock?

Hi, I've been researching and I found out that apparently you cannot sim unlock a desire 310 by installing a different rom.
People recommended using a sim unlock service (like you pay for a code to unlock it), and they said that some of these services are sketchy/dodgy..
Can anyone personally recommend a good website to get a code from?
Or even a better way to do this?
(It's locked to Vodafone if that makes a difference)
Thanks
You could try sim-unlock.net , i tried to get an unlock code for the same device but unfortunately they coulnd't find one as my phone hasn't been locked by htc but by orange romania. I got refunded though so i'd say it's pretty much a safe website. Give it a try, the price isn't high either!

hi there, I also have a vodafone locked 310 here and need to unlock it... did you ever sort yours? Also have you come across any good resources for custom roms/root/modding etc ? thanks
You have to know if the vodafone carrier of the country you bought your phone from locks the device with a different lock code other than the one provided by htc. For example i bought the desire 310 from Orange Romania, and only after i bought it i found out that both orange and vodafone romania change the factory lock code with a code of their own. In this particular case, i haven't had any luck unlocking the phone with any site that provides codes for a small fee. I also contacted htc and they said my device (according to the imei) does not appear to be branded nor locked by any carrier. I had to send the phone back to romania and have it serviced with special tools and apps to get it lock-free. You could still try some online service. If it's a pro website, they will refund your money if no code is found or the code they provide doesn't work. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to unlock it in a service center.
