Adfree-Error - Problem with root? - HTC Desire X

After rooting the phone with Hasoon's Toolkit I recgnized some problems with Adfree.
First I ran the update and the phone reboots on its own. I got a error-message which I should send to HTC.
Now, I tried to update again and get the message "Unable to locate a partition to remount to write hosts file to".
Can someone help me? Is it a problem with the SuperSU-root?

It may be the problem with the supersu. When It asks for binaries it then crashes and forces restart.I think the solution is to download another superuser app and get it in the system folder of the rom. Save it as zip again then start using clockworkmod to install the Rom again. I have not done it but its worth trying.
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app

Thanks, I will give it a try...when there is any time

One more question to this topic.
I downloaded the superuser 3.1.3-zip-file.
There are two folders. What do I have to do with this files? Copying in the ROM-files?
Thanks again!

[FIX] Titanium Backup not working after S-OFF/Root

After obtaining S-OFF and permanent root, I was still having trouble getting Titanium Backup to work.
Here's what I had to do to fix it:
I had used this to obtain temp root in the past: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1151735
Those steps had me create this directory: /data/bin/
Within that directory, I had sqlite, su, etc. so I simply deleted all the files in that folder, rebooted, and Titanium Backup now works!
I hope it helps everyone else.
I believe that all u need was to reinstall busybox. Which you can download in the market.

you believe wrong lol
Busybox dl didn't work. What's happened is one of the temp root methods put the files in a place that TB could find and they're no longer "registered" in that location. Deleting out the junk fixes the patch issues and helps most folks.
Download busybox from inside TB by pressing problems. It should fix after that.
I Haz 3D!
Worked for me Thanks WillJitsu!

Request for some apps file

Hi guys,
I have recently make a wrong decision with my Gs2. I tried to use Titanium backup to change All Sharing and Social Hub as a User Application. And that result in these apps disappear from my phone. I tired to put the dlna.apk and social-hub.apk back to the "system/app" while nth new come back after a reboot. I think that's because i miss the odex file related to the apps. As I am using Offical Hong Kong Rom KG2, would somebody like to help me by uploading those files [dlna, social hub apk&odex]
Thanks

And install them by using root explorer
My way to install is to move from sdcard to "/system/app"
I even changed the permission of the apks but still they don come back

[Q] Deleted Talk.apk, how can I get it back

For reasons I won't go into (mainly because they're boring) I deleted Google talk.apk from Root Explorer (I was following instructions to update the app but those didn't work) and now I can't get it back. I've factory reset the phone to no avail. I have Google Voice installed, but can't seem to get talk back. If anyone could help, it would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks!
BTW, I did a search before posing the ?, but the only solution I found was for a different phone, and when I ran those steps, when I tried to open Talk, it would just FC.

Have you tried snagging the files from another Photon and installing? Can you post what steps you have already taken please?
Yes....factory reset won't restore system apps. You can flash Juggs update.zip and that will restore for you. Then would have to root again of course but is easy enough.
Just download a custom rom , unzip it and copy the required app to your device.

I will try that as well. When I did a search, I found where someone had posted the talk.apk.zip file which I copied to my sd card, unzipped and then copied to system/apps (through Root Explorer), but that is when I started getting FC's. I then installed it (from Root Explorer) even with the same result. It may be that it wasn't the right version maybe? So if I extract it from a Rom, do I just copy it to the System/Apps folder (using Root Explorer)? Sorry for the confusion, and thanks much for the help.

Hey faria, thanks! I did the top link last night (that was the one that I copied the talk.apk.zip (2.2) over to my SD card, extracted, and then copied to /system/apps/. I installed from there (btw, I did change to R/W first), but all I got was FC's on talk. I'm thinking I needed to reboot after installing, maybe? I'm not really sure why I would need to reboot though, but if that is all it takes, I'm happy. I will try that when I get home tonight (don't have a spare cable with me right now). Thank you sooo much for your help.

If you still end up having problems.....
Juggs update.zip is just the latest OTA with a few minor modifications. So basically it will restore all to pretty close out of the box and restore any system apps.
However, you can also flash the sbf which is the actual newest OTA exactly like the one pushed from Motorola/Sprint. This requires using rsd and isn't quite as easy as the update.zip which can just be flashed via bootstrap recovery.
Any one of these methods will require you to root the phone again.

Thanks for all your help today, I'll let ya know tomorrow how it goes. What a freakin pain in the arse this talk.apk has become....haha

You can only remove them in recovery via adb shell rm /system/app/*.apk
And if you're on stock ROM, also remove it's odex adb shell rm /system/app/*.odex
Or you can use the script made by Maarten here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36278172&postcount=30
extract the updater-script, edit the filename for the apk that you need to remove and put in back in the zip, and flash that in recovery.

No app can uninstall app on DX except the way I described above.
There is some sort of protection HTC imposed on DX that you cannot use an app like TB, Root Uninstaller & etc; they won't work.
Note: before you remove anything, make sure you make a nandroid of your stock ROM before that as once an OTA is out, you need a clean stock ROM to update successfully.

What I meant is its too late for me to backup a clean stock unrooted rom.
Sorry can't edit my post above since I'm new user although I'm not new to xda I'd just created a new account.
Anyway I wish there was a simple way to remove the odex on the bloatware I want to uninstalled. On link2sd, the app mentioned above are marked with ODEX (green).
Guess you were right, can't move an an app with an odex on it though I don't know what odex is.
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app
I understood that. What I meant is it is ok to make backup with a rooted stock ROM.
To update an OTA, you don't need to remove your root app or any installed app as long as all system files are intact. You don't even need to relock your bootloader. What you need is a stock recovery.
You can read more on this topic on the link in my sig. Even though that is for One V, it works the same principal for DX.
You can remove system apps from recovery using app called Aroma File Manager, made by Amarullz, you have the link in my Index.

Totally forgot about this nice recovery explorer/file manager
As I always use a PC base explorer/file manager to add/remove files to/from system partition.
To w1040
ckpv5 is right. You can not delete files simply from Data or System folders.
You have to do that in recovery mode. If you try to delete files from any File explorer, your phone will simply restart.
Though we have rooted our phone, however it is not 100% rooted. HTC made S-ON on all of those device so that people can not do any changes on systems.
Play with your phone with complete nand backup.

Actually we do have 100% root, S-Off differs a lot from root. And there are multiple ways of deleting the apps. You can make a flashable zip file yourself if you know how to, you can use aroma file manager (mount system before using it), adb, or any other recovery file manager, if it exists
