Downloaded LG Unlock from the Play store. Entered my IMEI and paid 12.95. Got an unlock code via email within 30 minutes. Put in a T-Mobile sim and entered the unlock code and I am now unlocked! Quickest and easiest sim unlock I have ever done.

What kind of service are you exeriancing on T-Mobile with an Unlocked Optimus G? Wanted this phone bad but the Nexus 4 lacks an SD Card slot which I need...

just unlocked and T-Mobile is only getting edge in midtown Manhattan, but I had the At&t GS3 unlocked and it was getting edge in Manhattan and in Queens was getting h+ speed of 10mbps. So I'm going to try in Queens with this later today

Wow...this is faster than what I get on AT&T's LTE network in West LA.

Hi guys.....i tried cellunlocker.net and got my code in 10 minutes, and it was only $8, and my t mobile is about as fast as my Clear spot.

I got mine on ebay for $1.99 in 5 minutes. I recommend you look there 1st guys, save a couple $$

Cellunlocker worked just fine earlier in the week, they don't list the E970 but E973 codes work fine.

Me too.

Is unlocking the SIM like this irreversible? Just picked up an Optimus G and getting ready to do the SIM unlock. However, still trying to decide if I want to keep this phone and would rather not invalidate the warranty or anything until I'm sure.

Unlocking your SIM doesn't void your warranty. Unlocking your bootloader does.

Don't spend a dime to unlock your OG. Check out the site from THIS THREAD. It's worked flawlessly for me and many others. I got my unlock code in two days, absolutely free.

Actually since Rogers owns Fido, you can interchange the sim's from Rogers to Fido and vise versa with a locked device.
They made that change a few years ago.

same here, used cellunlocker.net for unlocking Rogers locked Galaxy Note i717R... $8, code within 6 hours (got it in the morning)... didn't have Bell sim card so I could not open network unlock input even with #7465625*638*#... finally went to a local mall and asked a guy at mobile stand to borrow Bell sim card... no charge... entered code... "Network Unlock Successful"...
however I am with FIDO and when I type *#7465625# to check if phone is in fact unlocked I get to black personalization screen and it force-closes in couple of seconds... no unlock status information provided... just crash... Could that be connected to the fact that Galaxy Note is network unlocked but it not rooted?

Try doing a search...I'm pretty sure you can find quite alot of threads relating to this topic.
My brother's friend that works at AT&T said the same thing. "too new". He even said it about the skyrocket.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
might be too new regardless
Usually the carriers are happy to unlock the phone because they charge you a boat load to do it. If they are denying your money I'm not sure if any third party sites could get one from your IMEI or not either. Let us know if you find anything though. Here's hoping!

What carrier charges for unlock codes?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
cellunlocker
Just came across another thread stating codes were purchased off cellunlocker.net for around 8 bucks, it's not free, but not much at all and worth it if it works.
All canadian carriers charge for unlocking. Usually $50+
PS: I have yet to find a source to unlock mine. I'm switching to bell this week and taking my note with me I hope.

I called at&t tech support 2 weeks ago, and tried again yesterday. Both times they said no unlock codes for Note due to it being "too new."
I'm really in no rush to unlock it, although I wish it was unlocked just for bragging rights.
I'll be more concerned about unlocking it within the next 3-6 months...either to sell it or for when I'm traveling abroad.

Carriers don't charge for unlock codes. They either refuse to give it or they give it freely.
There are other companies that do charge. They are not the carriers.

I don't know but mine says the same thing, would like to know too.
The SM-G900T is definitely SIM locked. I ended up just buying the unlock code from CellUnlocker.net and amazingly they were able to get the code on launch day. Yeah, it costs money, but they came through with the code.
Also, lucky for me, since I guess I was one of the first to buy a code for the G900T, I got an email from them saying that they were looking for footage of people unlocking their GS5s, and if I could provide a video showing the full unlock process, entering the code, and activation on another network, they'd refund the purchase price. I don't know if they're still offering that, but I took advantage of it and I did indeed get my full purchase price refunded, so in effect I got my code for free. :good:

The code is $29.99. It's not cheap, but they work. That said, a SIM unlocked phone is definitely worth more on a place like eBay than one that's SIM locked, so it might be worth it.
I've always used cellunlocker when a carrier wouldnt unlock a phone for me, they've never failed me, and once again they came through earlier today with a perfectly working code. They aren't the cheapest but very reliable.

I used the T-Mobile unlock app the day the phone arrived.
I think it really depends on the rep you get.
Back when I get the Note 9 on T-Mobile (2 yr bill credits), after a week I tried using the Unlock App as I was travelling internationally.
It didn't work so I had to call into T-Mobile customer service.
The rep was able to unlock my phone and my wife's phone even though it was only on the network for about a week.

Congrats. Glad to hear it. May I ask if you were postpaid or prepaid?
I'm thinning of buying it from T-Mobile and adding them to unlock it (well, having my uncle do it since I don't live in the US) but it'd be easier for me with prepaid (I figure topping it off with a hundred dollars in refills is comparable to two months of the cheapest postpaid plan and no contract to cancel). Plus the online unlocking service I saw was 85 bucks and I don't know how reliable those are.

I have postpaid. It all really comes down to the person that you get when you call T-Mobile you can get somebody that won't do it are you get somebody to do it no problem I've never had my phone paid off any of my phones and I've had a lot of phones probably 15 to 20 different phones that I bought through T-Mobile on payments and I've always had them all unlocked within a month if you need any help or anything you can send me a message all right take care good luck my friend.

I noticed on one of my V60s it would not unlock. The one that didn't unlock is a LG 2nd year replacement for my old G8. Can't figure out why.
so who is unlocking the LGV60s?
Anybody able to unlock their device for use with a different carrier?
I picked up a T-mobile branded one off swappa and am using on Simple Mobile. Calls and text work out of the box but I can't send or receive pictures.
I figured it might be something to do with it being locked to tmo. I tried the unlock in settings and failed. I called tmo and they say they can't unlock it without a tmo account.
Any suggestions?
Edit - solved. I had a friend with an account call them. Just say you're traveling and need it unlocked, they'll do it.
Still didn't solve my picture sending problem, taking suggestions on that.
Edit again - solved the MMS problem. It won't send with wifi calling on. I turned that off and am good. Surprised I haven't seen anybody else asking about this. I can't be the only one?
