[Q] Touchkeys Backlight - HTC One X+

Hey guys,
is it possible, to change the backlight of the touchkeys to a behaviour like, lets say the Galaxy S has it?
As far as i know the standard of the OX+ is using the lightsensor -> backlight off during daylight/backlight on during nighttime
The Galaxy S (most of you should know) enlightens the backlight of the touchkeys as a touch-response, no matter what light-condition. I guess you´ll need root to change that kind of setting, but you never know if theres an app out there.
Greetings

I've got an HTC Radar with WP, and this same happens here, there's no backlight on unless u're in dark or low light, so i think it might be something HTC related to.

Its working very well. The dictionary is pretty comfortable and the response of the letters combined with the good auto-correct is intuitive.
No problems here!
Back to Topic:
I suppose it´s an Sense-related issue. As far as i know, some Sense versions have such an option in the display settings. Or it´s device-specific.
Any one with a rooted onex+ out there with more information?

Interactive Touch (Like the Voyager)

I did a search on PPCGeeks, XDA, and Google, and couldn't find any app to make the touch screen on the Titan interactive - similar to the way the Voyager touch screen works (quick vibrate when the screen is touched).
Is there any app like this? If not, can someone make one?
Thanks!
You would think HTC being one (if not THEE one) #1 Smartphone manufacture that would have SOMETHING similiar to the iphone or Voyager. The HTC Cube to me is very "amatuer" looking compared to the iphone and Voyager UI. Even microsoft couldn't make anything similiar...hopefully WM7 will blow us away.
I agree that the Cube looks pretty basic (that's why I won't put it on my phone, but I do have the TouchFLO).
But what I'm looking for is for the phone to do a very quick vibrate whenever the screen is touched.
That technology is called Haptics and it is much more than just the phone vibrating. Haptics allows you to physically feel a vibration exactly on the spot of the screen you are touching. Your phone has to have Haptics vibration built into it to use it and there isn't a single HTC phone out there using the said technology.

Indeed.
That said, I'm still interested in any app that does simply what whiteblazer01 asked for. I'm always looking over my fingers when I'm trying to dial a phone number. I'd be willing to give a simple touch-response app a shot.
Anyone?

I have been looking into this also. Especialy when i use the media player or just the main screen shortcuts.
In the mean time I was able to find a CAB somewhere in this forum that enables vibration feedback when you dial a number. It replaces the tone with vibration. I hope you guys like it. (Sorry I dont have support for it because I am not the original creator of this CAB)
Make sure that once you install the CAB that you soft reset after.
Hope you like it.
That's exactly what it is - Haptics. Thanks for the link. The program [email protected]$ put a link to (thanks!) works on the keypad, but it really doesn't feel like the Haptics system. O well, its still cool though.
I found a link to another thread on this forum for the same thing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1685449

I was thinkin about how we can make the phone vibrate when we tap the screen in any application instead of only the dial pad.
I came up with a theory that might give us some type of haptics feed back. It might not be exactly like haptics but it could make the phone vibrate.
There is a feature in our phone that can enable the phone to play a sound when we tap the screen for any reason. I was thinking why not replace the sound with just vibration like the CAB that changes the sound to vibration on the dialer?
Im not experienced at programming, but I am willing to take a shot into making this possible. Maybe some one can get a hold of a good programmer or some one good at registry tweaks to make this possible.
Just an idea

Great Idea [email protected]$, deffinately move forward with it, Ive been using the phonepadvibrate (essentially the same as what you posted) for well over 2 months now and love it. If you could do the same with the normal touch screen it would be amazing.
Yes its not full haptics, but in my opinion it really doesnt need to be. some sort of physical feedback (ie a slight vibration) would be great when working with the touch screen.

Carlos, I definitely agree, I would love to have that whenever the screen vibrated. Although, I don't know who would be willing to do that. I remember when I had the Apache (XV6700), I thought it would be cool if someone could make the LED lights on top into indicator lights for the shift and caps keys - which never happened (I don't know how, otherwise I would do it myself).
In fact, I wonder if someone can make a cab to have the shift and caps buttons make the indicator lights turn on whenever the buttons are pushed, not just when shift lock or caps lock are enabled.

It is very possible. I found other sources and they have some sort of program / prototype that can make this happen but it doesnt work on every tap of the screen.
What I want to do is make mine work on every tap of the screen but have the ability to turn it off and on to save power. Like turning the notification for the sound to play when you tap the screen on and off.
So far I have planned some steps to do it through the registry but since I am not an expert at programming like others are here it might take a while.
But any help is very welcome to complete this project and make it available for all.
As to changing the LED's on your phone. I think no2chem and some other guys found a way to customize your LED settings, but I'm not sure if it will be custom enough to indicate caps or shift. Maybe in the near future.

I am sure you probably have. I have the copy of the program that enables this feature. I believe it is extracted from a phone that has haptic feed back. But it is an executable.
This program is faulty. It doesn't respond on every tap and has performance issues. Other then that there hasn't been another one developed.
I'm trying to find a way to fix the issues of of the one that I found. Maybe by creating a new way to enable haptic feed back like I posted on previews posts, but it might take time to develop because I'm still learning how to mess with WM Reg. and programming.

i still havent tried the program out yet i really dont see the use for it
Let me know what you find out Carlos. I would agree with you that it may be better to have the phone vibrate maybe when any button is pushed instead of anytime the screen is tapped (or maybe have the option to choose?), and also have the option to turn it off. Lol, maybe we can call it "Taptics" instead of Haptics.
As for the LED's, I'll check with some of the other guys about what they can do. I do a lot of modding myself with other electronics (cars, motorcycles, game consoles, etc...), but I don't really get into programming all that much (although the logic makes sense to me).

Okay, so I noticed the phone does vibrate, however, when using the keypad while in a call, it makes a different tone, and does not vibrate.
Also, is there any update on ways to make all buttons vibrate (and configurable) when pressed? And of course, an option to turn the feature off?

I am not sure for all buttons but there is a CAB to make the phone vibrate when you press the screen. I tried it out and it works, but it's faulty and kills performance.
I'm still working on this project. I haven't had much time to work with it, but if any break through happens then I will post it up.

[Q] New Samsung owner. S2 Notification help

Hi guys,
Got my S2 yesterday after having had HTC for a few years and sony.
I know on the samsungs that there is no LED status light for missed call, text etc but I also know you can get an app to do it.
I have been trying no led but find that its not working very well and very unreliable.
Can anyone offer any alternative suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Have you heard of BLN? I don't think there's support for it on the SII yet. Basically it turns the capacitive touch keys into backlight LEDS. It was a useful feature on my Galaxy S I9000; I came from HTC as well and missed the LED. This works just as good. You need a custom kernel that supports BLN though and as I've said I havent seen any support as yet...
But give it time and I'm sure there will be
I had come accross that one. Hopefully a kernel will come that supports it Thanks for you help
How about this free app from Android Market?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.led.notify
Thats what im using, but not finding it very good as it keeps changing settings etc
No led works great for me
Me also want a custom kernel who had bln and undervolt included! ... ;-)
No led does work, but I dont find it reliable as it constantly displays the wrong image or even nothing at all
How do I stop it turning the screen off if its already on?
For example, im using handcent. If im reading or writing a txt and another comes through, it switches the screen off to show the dot. can this be changed?

[Q] Disable backlit keys on CM7

I moved from Stock 2.3.4 samsung rom to Cyanogenmod 7 (stable).
I have one problem though, I cant seem to disable the keylights of the two buttons, one on either side of the home button. It is annoying as hell when I use my phone in a dark room.
Can anyone help me?
No one knows?
PS.
I think I am gonna move to MIUI ROM, this still has many bugs ... Get a lot of FC on random apps.
Is there not an option in CM7? On stock its in Settings>Display>Touch key light duration.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Nope, I looked for it 1st. Could not find it.
Sent from my white Samsung Galaxy S2 using TapaTalk!
there is an app called "Screen filter" it's ad free and free - it is exactly what you are looking for, and it operates via a widget... you can put a dark filter on your screen to make the screen very dark, and you have the option to disable the button back lights too... you can create several widgets with whatever level of darkness you desire... I couldn't use my phone at night without it!!
You glorious bastard! I've been searching all over for a solution to this problem!
Accept my deepest thanks.

helphelphelp

I have a problem that I can't really figure out, so I hope you guys can help me out.
I have a htc sensation xl.
My brightness control stopped working and I now I can't change the brightness anymore. It doesn't matter if I set to 30% or 100%, the brightness stays the same.
I can only adjust the brightness from 0 to 25%. I already did and wipe and stiched a phone, but it did not help (
Anyone have an idea what the problem could be or how I can figure out what the problem is?
Hard to guess what could go wrong here.
Can you provide any more details?
Stock ROM or not?
Have you tried different brightness-control apps or widgets?
Is the colour on your screen still correct?
What about the uniformity or not of the brightness across the whole surface of the screen?
Also, people do not tend to answer posts whose title says "helphelphelp"
"Screen brightness problem on HTC Sensation XL" would be more adequate.
Reboot your phone
•Samsung Galaxy S II
•RR 3.1.2
•Dorimanx 7.18
•Just Awesome.

yes I used a go launchers widget, all colors on the screen are displayed normally, brightness is not regulated on all surface of the screen. Reset to the factory, I tried it - have not helped.

[Q] Dynamic contrast/Backlight pulsating at very specific brightness

I have a couple of "issues" with the phone. Not sure if its software related or hardware related. Maybe you guys can check on yours too see if it happens. This is all on stock ATT rom
It seems the One has "dynamic contrast" enabled by default. When scrolling on webpages, for example, if I come to an area with a dark advertisement, the brightness adjusts very slightly most of the time. Thats all well and good but the annoying thing is that it does it in steps causing quick blinks of the backlight. Its most pronounced at medium brightness. The same "blinking" happen when autobrightness wants to set the brightness to a very low level . It does it in very discrete steps and it takes a long time for the brightness to settle to its minimum.
If i set my brightness to 50% (most prevalent when the slider is under the "t" in brightness) I get a VERY subtle, but constant pulsating of the backlight. Again, Its a very subtle but my eyes pick it up regardless and its distracting as hell. I wouldn't mind it if autobrightness didn't hit this brightness level, but it does sometimes indoors. The effect is best seen on a mixed white and color screen, like a homescreen with a white widget and most websites. If the brightness goes a bit above or below this level, the pulsing goes away . Anyone else seeing this? maybe it happens at a different brightnesses on different screens.
Thanks
I noticed this when watching a video today. Maybe it only happens if you have autobrightness on?
Sent from my HTC One
It happens with autobrightness off for me. I actually tested it a bit more. I happens on a variety of backlight settings depending on what's on the screen.
At approx. 33% brightness (im using an app called screen adjuster to set the system brightness to a specific value), the screen does heavy pulsating on an all white image. For example, if I go to "about:blank" in the web browser. I can be seen on a desktop screen with a white widget or the settings menu.
Same thing at 40. Worst is 33% though. I have a feeling its dynamic contrast going haywire at certain brightnesses. If you turn the screen off then on, it doesnt do it for a second or 2, but then it will start. I haven't been able to find a demo unit anywhere around me to test this out. So if someone can check this on their device, I would appreciate it. Please use Screen Adjuster to get a definitive reading on the brightness. (Use the slider in "system brightness" to set it to a specific brightbess) and go to "about:blank" in the default browser
hi..
i had the widget set on the third setting, the fourth being the brightest. i had the same problem with my first phone and thought at the time it may have been a backlight problem? or power flow problem? i sent that phone back and the next phone did the same? after posting on here.. i removed the widget and manually adjusted the brightness. i like the screen quite bright, manual adjustment cleared the problem for me. i gotta say yep the flicker was more visible on screens with alot of white, google, facebook, texts? and way way annoying! i can only suggest you try the same as i did? perhaps it is just a quirk with the htc? or maybe the os? you never know, when the update to keylime or whatever it is called comes out the flicker may go totally?
JUST had this on facebook? hope it helps?

Thanks for the response. I ended up looking at 4 more devices at 2 different stores and they all had the flicker. The sales associates even saw it. I got tired of doing exchanges and I ended up reversing my upgrade. Im going to wait and see what happens with this issue. Hopefully it gets sorted out with a firmware update, because otherwise its an awesome phone. Its a shame that the $100 trade-in offer is going to end by then and I wont be getting a free medialink device, but atleast i'd be able to get it in black, which is what I originally wanted.
Ive noticed this too and its really annoying me. Ive tried multiple roms including the new asop carbon rom and its even on that.

In addition to the phones I exchanged, every display model that I've come across has had it. I'm was a bit surprised at first that not many people have come across this. I'm starting to think that maybe the One has a PWM backlighting, which some folks are sensitive to and some don't even notice. I'm in the former category and I think you are too. It a shame really that this problem exist. Besides that, I couldn't find any other faults with the phone. It was perfect in every other aspect
I've run Into the same exact behavior using the HTC droid DNA with both sense 4+ and sense 5 ROMs. I smell tomfoolery afoot.
Screen Flicker
I'm glad I'm not the only one that has noticed this. It doesn't stay that way very long for me, but it is quite annoying. Seems to happen when there's a white or light-colored background the most. So I guess there's nothing specifically wrong with my phone and we'll either have to live with it or wait until someone figures out how to fix it?
I guess most people don't notice this.m it's extremely irrational going between this and my tablet and having the black.ighting flashing in my face when I scroll through webpages.
