[Q] Another Battery Question...Plz Plz advice - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Plz i know this has been asked many many times, i have spent last 3 days on whole forum, got lot of info but really need to ask this question direct....sorry
I have S2 rooted with Siyah Kernel & R Remix Rom (latest)
My question is about the battery it seems to drain 1-2% every 4-5min whilst am USING, is that normal?? Everything will be off apart from Wifi or Data...just surfing or whatsapp
When phone is sleep (at night 6-8 hr) it only uses 3-4 %, is that normal? Mostly everything off
I fully charged yesterday around 5pm, hardly used, but seems to drain a lot whilst in use...driving me crazy. Need to know is it the battery weak or something else
Plz see attach screen....

Install BetterBatterystats.
After some time check for alarms/wakelocks.
Read detailed How-to and FAQ on link i posted up..

Thanks but anyone care to explain from attach image if that's normal or ??

If you use your phone for less CPU intensive actions, then change governor to "Conservative".

It's normal.. You need to give it at least 3 battery cycles before you judge the battery life..

Battery Meter: Extreme drain when in use

I bought the samsung s2 primarily because of the amazing reviews it got for battery life.
I got mine 2 days ago and right from the start there were problems. I charged the unit three hours and according to the battery meter it had still not charged. then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
Now on day two, I've noticed an immense drain when its in use. Check out the screenshots. I think I'd be lucky to get two hours solid use out of it.
Should I return it, or does this look standard?
The battery needs some time before it reaches it full potential. In the mean time do some searching cause there already are enough battery life threads.
I already searched and read many of the other battery threads but didnt come across anyone who'd experienced the problem I described.

Correct 0-100% about four hours longer on a brand new phone ,
then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
bad battery connections clean .
Now on day two - I charged it at 9pm last night and by 9.30 am unplugged it was down to 84%. This with no apps open, no widgets running - nothing. wifi was active though.
Overnight is variable and Wifi uses battery .
then in using it for just 40 mins - doing nothing more than internet surfing through wifi; it drops from 84 - 68%.
Does this pace of battery power loss sound consistant with other users experiences, or should I return the unit and ask for a new one?
I think you have two choices one charge the battery read all the battery posts .
Or return to seller .
Personally i would turn WiFi GPS etc off at night charge phone to 100% see what it drops to by morning .Big drop and it would be returned as your original 100% to 0 drop very quickly suggests a possible fault .

Thanks for your feedback.
I've read through quite a few posts there.
One thing; do we know how long galaxy s2 should be able to be on for if the screen was on the whole time? Is four hours low, or does that sound right??
50% or less on brightness playing SD video should last more then 7 hours , browsing web however can be 5ish+ .
Screen at 100% and browsing web drains battery fast , 4 sounds about right.
It all depends what and how you doing it ?
Well I have it on auto brightness, usually which seems to be around 50%....
and I'm web browsing or just playing around with settings and looking at menus. I'm down to 45% battery and have probably had the screen lit up for maybe 90 mins max??
rest of the time phone has been on idle with wifi on but no network activity...
does this sound below what it shoudl be??
OK I've now attached my screenshot.
Does this battery usage seem normal??
i.e, such extreme drops when the phone is in active use???
All I've been doing is texting, some wifi surfing, and looking at menus.
Search the forum for "Android OS bug". There's no solution yet though. Turning wifi off when you're not using it helps.

Hi there.
I have installed Lite’ning Rom v1.5. Everything is working ok, but yesterday before sleeping I had battery 80 %, today after 6 h it drops to 1 %. I have data transfer turned off, also Gps, WiFi, ... Also before 2 weeks it drops from 100 % to 70 % after some hours with no using.
I have to add, that my battery held up for 4 days once with no particular using.
Any ideas plz?
Thx for answer.

[Q] Extreme low battery usage / Battery drops/ SG2 suddenly shut down

Hi all,
I've got my sg2 since june and since the first moment I have got the same problems. I had the stock ROM & kernel with android 2.3.3. The problems I experienced were these:
1) extreme low battery life (6-10 hours, with normal usage)
2) when using heavy apps, my s2 just suddenly turns of. When rebooting it, it has a battery drop of like ~15%. (this only occurs when battery is already bellow 40% left).
3) Like 5-20 times a day (it really difference day-to-day), I got the notification that I have to put my sg2 on a charger. - So the battery bar drops from example 80% to 1%. After like 1 or 2 minutes it just fills up back again to the 80% before. Sometimes when this occurs, it also turns in a few % (like 80% before, and afterwards 75%).
So what did I already tried to fix this?:
- bought new 1600mah battery > didnt solve the problem, conclusion: no hardware malfunction
- I thought the problems could be occured by the tiny space between the battery and the frame of the phone. So it had a lack in connection... So I filled up the little space with i tiny piece of paper> nope didnt helped.
- downloaded mutiply apps for battery saving, task killers, etc etc.> didnt help!
It's really really frustrating, and I'm guessing more and more it's just a software problem. I do have warranty/insurance on it, but i don't want to send my phone to a repairservice because then I've no phone for like 3 or 4 weeks.
So my last option for me was to try a custom ROM and Kernel. So last week I installed the Lite'ning ROM. I also followed up the advice to calibrate my battery, so i did.
And the first day it was running really smoothed! At the end of the day my battery was still alive and I've used it for over 20hours, so I was really statisfied... But a small sidenote: I had a really busy day at work, so I didnt use my phone that much.
So next day, used it alot more. After 5 hours it had only 50% left.... And that's not all, my phone turned off suddenly. Not once, not twice, but 5 times that day.
Seems all these solutions didnt help. The only positive thing of installing Lite'ning ROM is that i now have about 4 or 5 hours more battery life a day.. But if I use it alot, it shut downs a lot more. Wich lead in more battery drops after reboot.
I'm really desperate, and I really don't know what to do now. Does someone have got these really frustrating problems, and do you guys have got some solutions?
And one more question: is my warranty/issurance voided after installing the Lite'ning 6.1 ROM? or can it by tresspassed by using a Jig?
Tnx for your time, and I really really hope you guys can help me cause i'm really getting sick of all this. It's killing me!!!
ps. sorry for my bad english
your warranty is voided by installing custom rom but u can unroot and use the jig to remove counts in counter.
now apart from that it seems if u use your phone for 5-6 hours continuous it will drain the battery because main source of battery drain is the screen display but for moderate use it should be a little over a day.
i am unclear about your usage but still if you have doubts you should really get it checked at a service center.
I would flash back to stock, use the jig to clear the flash counter and exchange that phone, seems it has some type of hardware issue that could be related to temperature as it only shuts down when you use it.
My 0.02 cents

My usage is definetly not THAT extreme, i guess moderate: I never watch movies or youtube, just some messages with WhatsApp, about 4 of 5 times a day checking Facebook, same for Twitter, always GPS off, some time of the day Wi-fi on, never play games, always closing apps on background.
i've got an example of my battery usage (this is one of the best battery usage days i got!!!):

S3 battery draining issue Not encountered so far

Hello guys, I bought my s3 from t mobile Germany and so far i had only Problems with.
I had the Software Problem in wich instead of 3.4 mAh He consumed 34.
Solved with the help ffrom bala gamer thread.
I have miui Rom with syah Kernel. No widget whatsoever juice defender premium, brightness on lowest posible, wifi when posible...
I am so angry on my Device Because a friend of mine got the phone from Vodafone and He was with battery on 32%. was using the phone 3 days 12 hours and something about 5 hours of onscreen tine...
My Best was 3 hours on screen time and around 14 - 15 standby. I am Not a heavy User i just like to Chat alot so i am on messenger Facebook all time...
Is this normal? Maybe the whole stocklot from t mobile is somehow defekt Because I have another Friend that bought the Device From t mobile and He got He Same issue... Is is posible to be some Kind of Software Problem? I Checkd alot of roms and Kernels with almost the Same Result.
Thanks alot dudes

I am also a new S3 user (migrated from an Iphone), and have been plagued with the battery issue. However, I have come to realize that you can't have everything with charging twice a day. You need to turn off the GPS, and set the WIFI to go to turn off when the Phone is in standby. I have also turned on the Power Savings menu, but will do tests to see if that is really needed. So far 30% Discharge in 5 hours....
Here is a link to a guy listing all his settings ( http://www.samsunggalaxys3forum.com...ttings-worth-try-those-poor-battery-life.html ).... Experiment and make your own call. Unfortunately, you have to be very aware what you have turned on... or at least that has been my experience after the last few days...
Facebook is known to cause some battery drain. Anyway, you should install BetterBatteryStats (search the foruns, there's a huge topic about it). BBS will give you precious information about what is using your battery and how much it's using it.
Nevermind what I said... 4 hours today with "normal" usage and I am at 45%. The S3 is a battery hog compared to the Iphone.
I installed this morning bbs, ill post the prinț screen when i got my battery empty. An update i just bought a 4300 mili ampers battery and i still cant get the Stats from other members even with this.
I forgot to say GPS is off all the time aswell and wifi only when i need IT.

[Q] Unusual battery drain caused by l2_hsic, umts_ipc0, radio-interface, secril_fd..

Hello
I have a problem with battery drain, the best I get over night is 1%/hour. I have this problem for a couple of months now, did a lot of research on the internet and on this forum for a solution but couldn't find it anywhere.
I understand that this is a modem issue but I flashed a lot of different modems, XXEMG4, XXEGMK6, ... all modems that work with EFSv2, and the problem still remains.
I also tried a lot of different custom ROM's from everything that's around, sammy, cm, omni,... and nothing helps.
I see people on this forum who lose like 1% at night, have screen time of 6hours and battery running for almost 2 days and mine isn't even close to that. I get max 20 hours with 3-4hours screen time.
This is also not a battery related issue because I also tried buying a new battery (because I was thinking that mine was broken + with this kind of battery life I wasn't able to go somewhere in the evening without being affraid that my phone would die).
Could someone please help me with this and release me from this suffering.
The SGS3 is a great phone but this problem really bugs me..
Best regards,
AutomotiveD
sooo, noob. You think 3-4 hours and 20 hours is bad? and 1% an hour is bad? maybe you should just turn everything off! Also you forgot to mention what rom you are running, it looks like CM11 to me...
Oh and BTW, the people that get 6-7 on screen time and 2 days probably have a bigger battery. Because that is impossible with the stock size.
Im running archidroid 2.3.2 . Uhm I think your math skills are not so good, if someone has a 6000mAh battery the person will get approx 0.3%/hour battery drain and that's still 2,4% over 8 hours and not 0% like some people have (proof with screenshots)..

wkpark does heavy battery drain (noob friendly explanation ?)

Please show mercy,
I already googled and searched xda for some time now, but I couldnt find any satisfying answer.
I own a Optimus 3D (p920), which is now rooted, has wkpark and cwm. Tried PACMAN and nameless KitKat 4.4.4.
Its fun !!! ^^
I dont have gapps, no games, no email push apps etc. Just the clean ROM flashed.
That leads to my question my question :
I learned that the wkpark bootloader (sometimes) drains a lot of battery, especially on flashing a ROM.
I learned that you shall flash a ROM only above 70%. Sometimes after a flash I have 12% left, sometimes only exactly 1 %.
Sometimes even a simple restart takes my battery from 60% to 20%.
Google wasnt a big help here and Im not a coder/programmer.
Id like to understand what exactly is going on, if there would be any advices I could follow or if there is even a solution out there, that I might have missed.
Noob friendly answers welcome.
Had to add this seperatly :
While sometimes a restart/re-flash made my battery down from 60% to 20%...just like today...it jumped from 60% to 20% and is now on 20% since 5 hours already...on normal use...which is not normal.
If I attach the power-cable, it jumps from 20% to 44% and starts loading. If its at 1% and I attach the powe-cable, it will start charging at 1 %.
And I thought battery (re)calibration is a myth ?
What is it that I dont (want to) understan here ?
