Development - Nokia Lumia 920

How is the development on the Nokia phones...I'm coming from a galaxy note where development is fairly decent. Is it easy to unlock/root/break/unlock. I realize every os uses its own term for rooting, etc

I just got my S2, which I love, so I'm going to stick my fingers in my ears and be blissfully ignorant of new phone technology for a little while.
Not extremely impressed, it actually makes me want to stick it out until next ear when I can upgrade

This is the AT&T Glalaxy S II forum, not General of Off Topic... so we're not going to start a whole new thread to talk about a diffrent phone.

iPhone 5 to Note II "Loving IT"

I have had iphone for last 4 years or so
Got real bored with apple not doing anything new and getting boring and also no jailbreak so I switched to Note II after dumping my iphone 5! could not have been happier, love the phone and now everyone in IT wants one, after rooting my phone and new rom from Scott, this phone rock's. I think it is a awsone Rom by the way.
ROM is cleanrom ace 405v

Glad to hear. I think you will like all the new functionality.

Welcome to the club lol.
I've basically had the iPhone since launch and I got bored with it too. Love my Note 2.
Awesome enjoy it! Which rom are you using?

AW: iPhone 5 to Note II "Loving IT"
I have had my iPhone for like three years. All what Apple gets is complete ignorance of their customer needs. Even for new products or software updates, the so long awaited release was found to be at the end an integrated Facebook and a poor stupid maps app!
Bull****!
I got Galaxy S i9003 and it was superior to iPhone 4S!
Currently, I am a happy user of Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 10.1.

Congrats. My wife wanted to switch to an iphone after two Android phones. She got the 5 and hated it when she realized it couldn't do half the things she wanted. I tried to tell her ahead of time. She swapped it for a Note 2 and couldn't be happier.

This baby replaced my ipad 3 and my Iphone 5.
No wonder apple stock has dropped so much, the way they are going they will the thing in the past. Just like what happend to windows mobile when iphone came. Samsung is taking over with help of android and google.

I switched in 2010 from the OG Droid to the iphone 4 and loved it. However ever since then Apple has been slow at evolving their OS and Android has been catching up until now when Android in my opinion is superior than iOS.
My iPhone 5 was a great reliable phone but without a jailbreak I just couldn't take it. I've been rooting/jailbreaking my phones since the OG Droid.
I did try out the Galaxy Nexus but it was a bit too laggy for my taste. However, the Galaxy Note 2 is by far the best phone that I have ever used.
I'm currently using Beans B6 and love it. Enjoy your Note 2. It's an amazing device.

If I could only have one phone, it would be the Note II but I also love my iPhone 5.
Yeah, I bought an iPhone 5 and returned it after 3 weeks. I'm no Apple hater, but love my Note 2 a lot more.

Super Bowl commercial

Did any of you see the commercial of the Note 2? Personally I found it hilarious. I posted this in here since the commercial was about the Note 2.

Not a commercial man myself. I just love my Note 2.
Thanks for the posting the video. Honestly, the commercial with LeBron James sparked my interest in the phone. He's my favorite basketball player. Before you ask, no. I didn't get then phone because he has it.
I got it after about a month contemplating about whether or not I should dump my iPhone 5 for the GN2.

Yep funny stuff

The commercial wasn't about the note 2. It was a generalized Samsung mobile commercial. If you noticed they didn't put any special emphasis on a specific device.

This ^^^. Samsung will always have the "Next big thing". So maybe a new phone in the near future? One can only hope.
Also, "Better call Saul"
The start of commercial was showing off the Galaxy Note 2. It didn't mention it by name but features of the Note 2 were clearly displayed.

They specifically reference an S Pen, and not to mention that is a Note 2 in their hands. While they aren't outright saying "buy the Galaxy Note 2" they are definitely referring to it. I've seen several ads over the past 2 months specifically talking about the Note 2 and using the words the next big thing as a double meaning. Both in that it's a big thing literally, and it's the next big thing to happen to smartphones.

What made YOU choose Nexus 10?

What made you choose this device instead of others? Will you select your next tablet based on the same criteria or do you care more about some other spec?

In this order:
Development, Processor, Resolution, Price
I came from the fantastic Acer a500, so it had to be a damn good device.
screen res, nexus status. if a new N7 was out with a higher res screen, I would have gotten that. but this was a work purchase, and the fiscal year is ending so I needed to buy now it's an upgrade from my galaxy tab 10.1.
edit: not a reason why i purchased, but the front speakers are impressive, at least compared to my old tab.
Development,screen, front speakers, design
I had a Nexus 7 at the time, and prior to that, a Galaxy Tab.
- I wanted to try a larger tablet
- The specs were pretty awesome
- Rear-facing camera (found it a real pain that my N7 didn't have one)
- Screen resolution
- Front-facing speakers
- Nexus
Was kind of concerned with the pace of development at first. Seems alright now I suppose :good:
Still kind of interested in trying out a Windows tablet for some specific games though...

Why did you make this thread? For post count?
Will you make future threads based on the same criteria or do you care more about spamming the forums?
In other words, did you search before making this thread?
It's a nexus and has soo many pixels. I like pixels. It was most certainly NOT because it has a rear facing camera.
Screen and specs, android, knew it would have a strong development community supporting it, specs will make it decent for a couple years, I travel for work and need something to check email daily, laptop too heavy, etc. And it's a fun toy.
Hdmi, Development, 10".

Specs but mostly that I could rely upon swift updates to Android rather than lagging behind at least one release at all times.

Wanted to replace my Galaxy tab and this was the best tablet around.
Don't shoot me, but my iPad mini was crap, and I NEEDED to come back to a Nexus.
I have an Nexus 4 as my phone and a Nexus S for work

I had yet to own a Nexus device, and I wanted to know what the pure vanilla experience was all about. Sure I've rooted it and tried other ROMs, but I keep going back to the stock 4.2.2 ROM.

the screen, the processor, nexus device, that black on black.
why
Have the Nexus 4 already.
Came from a Tablet S and was a bit disappointed in the updates or lack thereof as well as the shell design. Thought it was cool for about a week.
Top reasons:
Standard android
Screen
speakers
My experience so far is excellent with no complaints. It's much faster, better screen, better speakers, better wifi (much). I like some of the Sony apps like Music Unlimited but I can just download them if I want them.
I don't think I will ever buy another non-nexus device for cell or tablet. Price is right and updates are swift.
What made you choose Tablet S ?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
tablet s
Thought it was a bit different at the time. Bought it back in 2011 when it first came out. Kind of bought into the whole it's easier to hold thing with the wide grip on the one side. Also the first to have the remote IR feature (which I never used hardly). I had the X10, Sony Arc and then the Xperia S so was just keeping it in the family so to speak. Still think the Sony UI is very intuitive compared to the Samsung, LG and Htc overlays.
I chose the Nexus 10 because it was the successor to the Motorola Xoom. Stock Android with updates direct from Google. That's what mattered. There was no other choice.
Winning it in the favorite things sweepstakes mostly

We need a nexus phone the size of the note !

The lg nexus is nice but for people with tiny hands.

Google would have to supply features that would bring the s pen to it's potential, unless you mean just the size of the note 2 and not the s pen included
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
you could root this phone and get cm. basically same thing.

^^^+1 put any of the asop rom on ot and it will be just like a nexus. Minus of course the google updates.
yeah those google updates aren't all they're cracked up to be. I've had a gnex since the day it came out almost 2 years ago and have not had a speedy update yet. My wife and I are still waiting for the 4.3 update.
I would think this thread should go in the Nexus forums?
OT: Yeah it would be cool but as others said, OTAs aren't as all as they are cracked up to be. Custom OS's (Roms) > Google Updates (OTA's)
Nexus devices on Verizon don't get quick updates. Actually, devices in general don't.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
While I agree, just root and ROM this big beautiful baby and throw stock on there! Voila!! You've a Note Nexus:good:
There is a sticky thread to discuss other devices
