Internet browser comparison? - Nokia Lumia 920

Has anyone seen a video comparison of browsing the internet, and pulling up different url's? I tested in store and didn't seem very fast to pull up different web pages and why does IE struggle with the redbox website? I want to switch back to windows but i browse the net often and want to be sure this phone is going to satisfy me for 2 yrs. Anyone have a link to a video so i can get a better idea of how well browsing is? I've looked on YouTube and haven't ran across anything yet. My time in the ATT store was short due to others waiting to check out the phone

Is that browser available in the marketplace?

Browsing is excellent and the speed is on a par with Android and iOS browsers. Are you sure you had a descent connection in the store?

No, perhaps the connection was not LTE too. I'm gonna go back tonight and look things over more closely.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

We do not have LTE up here in Maine so my comparison is a little different,
However the browsing experience on the Lumia/IE has been by far the fastest mobile browsing experience I have had with any smart phone. I tried countless browsers throughout many different Android phones and different flavors of Android. Many of them were quite smooth and quick, but this experience has been even better. I expected the opposite so it was quite the happy surprise.

I like the speed of IE, but I am extremely annoyed at MS. They absolutely refuse to allow a true 3rd party browser. Having used Dolphin HD browser for Android, that is everything a browser should be, and truly shows that sometimes, a srd party Dev can just do it better.

Yea I've used that browser on my skyrocket, but i really like boat browser. Its flat out fast and it just pulls up pages in a split second. Hopefully the devs will be able to eventually give us more variety. I'm taking the wife today to go check out the phone, but she wants the yellow one.

Well i played with the phone tonight and i do like it. Also checked and UC browser is in the store so thats a plus. Next week the wife is ordering the yellow one so ill have time to thoroughly test it out before i purchase the 920

Its very slow compared to just going to the full facebook site in the webbrowser, it also seems to not show all posts on my wall as I see more in the full web page.

Agreed.
So is FriendCaster Tab.
It sucks. Kepted crashing and had such a poor look to it.
FriendCaster kept giving me issues and errors. The website is horrible on the tab. All good reasons to ditch Facebook for me. I might be interested when they release a proper Tab version of it.
I thought it was designed for Honeycomb!! Aghhhh
I'm sort of surprised they put out such a buggy app

I don't know a whole lot about this browser. What would be a good reason for applying this hack and switching over? Is this a lot better than some of the other browsers out there? Thanks.
+1 on this.
Not working on my mopho.
Worked for me

I read that it uses amazon servers to load and compress the content, like opera turbo boost. I didn't notice any difference and other than that I don't see anything good enough to stop using dolphin, it actually feels a bit slower for me.
Going to try this out

In my opinion this browser doesn't even work well on the Fire. Had problems just loading pages. Opera has been stellar.

Anybody been using Chrome beta?

Its pretty sweet if you ask me. Might even become my daily browser. There are various bugs considering its a beta
Amaze 4G ENERGY ICS
I started using it and ditched it cuz it was so buggy and lacked customization. I couldn't even change the settings I wanted to. Switched back to Dolphin HD.
I been u sing it as my default browser on my galaxy note and transformer tablet for about a month now.
Was using opera mobile as default for months and it was awesome. But Chrome has quickly become my favorite android browser now...its very smooth and works really well. Not to mention very fast as well. It works good on a big enough screen but on smaller screen like my nexus s I still prefer opera for some reason.
Anyway. Yeah considering its still classed as beta it is an excellent browser.

What do you do?

Hey guys!
So I love my Nexus 10... but I don't know what to do with it!
I watch videos and read pdfs on it, but these two don't really take up much time.
I wanna use my Nexus for more things but I don't know what!
What do you guys do on your Nexus 10?
First world problems... why did you buy your Nexus 10 anyway?
Start shifting your PC tasks over to it. Web browsing for one. This forum, for that matter. A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and you'll be surprised at how much productivity you can get out of it.

I use it for almost anything, as I got rid of my laptop so all I have now is my N10 and my cellphones. Movies, music, shopping, messaging, reading up on stuff, and prett heavy on emails and evernote my work needs, skyping. So yeah pretty much everthing I would do on my laptop.

You can text from it. I've seen several people recommend tablet talk. You have to buy it, and I've never tried it before, but the principle is to text from your tablet. I might try it when mine gets in today

Google Voice is free, and allows you to text mobile numbers.
I duct taped my Nexus 10 to a Swiffer today and mopped the floor with it.. It also makes a great spatula for getting fresh baked chocolate chip cookies off the baking pan

But then you have to change your number to a GV number, and doing that would be problematic for me. Am I right in thinking this?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Change what number? Your tablet isn't a phone. It links to your GMail account, and you can create a new phone number that can ring your devices on making a new account. If you mean texting people with your actual phone number then yea that might be an issue, as it shows on their phone as your GV number.
Wouldn't it use a new phone number for the texts?

I literally lol'ed when I found out that my N10 couldn't run Xbox SmartGlass and a couple of other things (yes I know I can sideload the apk). That's just silly that out of the box, my phone can do **** that my tablet can't, despite it being a larger screen, newer OS, and Google supported. Goofy.

Blame Microsoft, its their fault what devices they allow to dl their apps. I agree it's retarded, it took forever for them to even support Nexus 7.

Microsoft is weird with their apps man. I hosted the Smartglass Apk for Nexus 7 users twice on mediafire and both links were killed off by request within an hour.. MS went around pulling walled garden shananagins.

these sound pretty useful.
do i need a specific app for these functions?

What app are you addicted to at the moment?

I've been challenging and being challenged to Wrestle Jump literally everyday and starting to use my phone for that more than anything else. It just works so well on this screen and the game play is so simple that literally anyone and try it and dominate.
This kinda lead me to wonder what other people are going to as their main app that they use everyday. Maybe not so much addicted to, but just your one app that you go to for entertainment each day.

I use SiriusXM on my phone every day. The on demand service is pretty darn good. I am totally addicted to it and would be very pissed off if I didn't have it. :highfive:
My addition is SanGuoSha (HD). this is based on Chinese story "Three Kingdoms" and it has the capability of playing both online or offline. It has great AI strategy when you play with the phone and the graphics etc are top notch!
Being in NYC, you don't have cell coverage quite often, in this self-claimed best city of the world. Especially in the subways, yet we still call other countries or cities (Shang Hai) emerging market, when infrastructure like cell signal and data there is literally everywhere. Anyways, when no signal, SanGuoSha is very fun game to have.
sorry for the cynical comments, that is uncalled for.

I use that as well and really enjoy it. Also I use Google Music with All Access all the time.
For me it's finding Xposed mods and Google All Access music. I loveeeeeeee all access. O and also battery stats plus, been trying to figure out why my battery life seems to suck.
When ive got nothing to do for a while, I play DroidRider. Kind of like LineRider that I used to play back in the day. With the SPen, it makes things so much easier.

I use stumbleupon all the time. Great time waster. Basically, you tell it what kind of sites you like, and it will give you random pages based on that. I also use reddit is fun, hill climber, and zen pinball.

Tapatalk for xda/andcentral, and MiMi, a 4chan browser. Rules 1 and 2 apply. Also, Flipboard. LOVE Flipboard, especially the tech, science, and 500px streams.
That's really it. I'm kind of a one pump chump on apps. I download tons and only end up using them once or twice, get bored, delete, rinse and repeat.
The only game I find myself often playing, and always have installed is Zen Pinball with about 12 purchased tables for variety. However, I definitely suggest Spirit XHD, superb with the S-Pen, and Super Hexagon. The latter is extremely difficult but very addicting and super simple to play.
