Trade for GS3? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So as the title states, I'm considering trading my evo for a GS 3. The LTE continues to drop and I've heard that the GS3 doesn't have these issues. Has anyone here traded successfully at the Sprint store? Thoughts?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app

you should ask this question on the gs3 forum...
HTC EVO LTE

It's not so much a preference question as it is a possibility issue. Wondering if anyone has been successful in explaining the LTE issues and getting a GS3

I think what he is trying to say is, if they successfully traded they wouldn't be in this forum anymore.

You may want to read around. The gs3 & evo lte have simular problems according to LTE. They both used to drop in and out of LTE. Samsung/sprint is or has upgraded the firmware to hold LTE and if I'm not mistaken the evo LTE issue is in the process of being fixed also.
Go into the sprint gs3 thread. There are radio signal complaints & also lte to evdo complaints. Honestly though I wouldn't blame the device, both devices are bad ass,and pretty simular when it comes to soc hardware. If you really like the gs3 and willing to trade beats audio, photographer style screen, kickstand, sense and the f.2.0 camera then by all means go for it. The gs3 is very fun when it comes to software modding. But in the end its all the same

Tell sprint u have LTE issues they might swap u like 3 times then offer u a trade or they might trade u right away
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

Don't do it the gs3 sucks imho my brother has one and stock vs stock EVO wins everyday use his does nothing but lag garbage
Viper4G 2.02
liberty kernel v1.10
hboot 1.19 S-off

What specifically makes it suck? I want to get in on this LTE, but it looks like it's not happening with the EVO.

HTC evo 2

Just wandering gamespot.com and noticed an article referring to GTA 3 coming to iOS and certain higher end Android devices. Rockstar listed the Evo 2 as one of the devices. After Christmas search it looks like HTC is dropping sprint as their device carrier.

I'm almost 100% certain they're talking about the Evo 3D. Also where did you hear this rumor of HTC dropping Sprint. That's insane they would lose so much money. HTC has been working with Sprint even before android devices probably their biggest provider in the U.S.
Probably. a typo ...think. they meant. Evo 3d.

Link? Besides I seriously wouldn't count that as valid with any weight behind it.
And the EVO line is exclusive to Sprint within the U.S. & it's available internationally on other carriers.
Ex:
EVO WiMax (Japan)
EVO 4G+ (Korea),
EVO 3D GSM (Canada/Europe/Unlocked)
Yep I saw this article too and I'm sure they meant the evo 3d.
I think you may be right about the Evo 2/ 3vo confusion. The article I found was here although there is no link to any info on htc dropping sprint. Must be speculation.

I thought the whole EVO line was named by Sprint and only for Sprint...at least in the US.

I remember buying my HTC touch from sprint a month before the Iphone came out. A much better phone, even though it had wm. Then the HTC Pro, Pro 2, EVO,EVO 3d. If they do drop sprint which is highly unlikely, they will loose a loyal customer.
Ps. it also works for Samsung galxy tab 7 plus if interested. Side loading needed.

Every time someone says "Evo" HTC gets a nickel. There's no way they would drop Sprint. HTC makes as much money as they do by getting their products on as many carriers as possible. Every phone you see that they have put on Verizon, At&t, and T-Mobile were basically just rebranded Evos.

Crappy Signal

Bought my wife the EvO 3d the other day, up from a HERO CDMA. Noticing that without exception the signal on the 3d is dramatically worse than the hero was. The 3d is bone stock. Any suggestions?
Thanks

this is a known issue htc needs to address. the evo 3d generally has a worse signal than other phones since the antennae is at the bottom (where u hold it). if u cant deal with it you might wanna get a different phone. im considering it
Have you updated your prl? Sprint pushed one that was super slow but fixed it. My 3d gets better coverage than any other phone I've owned. Hell I tether to my wifes nexus s 4g so she can speed up. Your prl should start with a 2 I think.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
yeah, she's on the most recent prl, must be the antennae problem, but signal is just rotten on this phone.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I had this issue for a while but I am running 11115 prl and I have notice the difference... I am rooted and running Virus infected rom and I am happy for now... you could try rooting it and trying difference prl or roms it may make a difference...

Really? That's a bit of bad news for me.
I'd be very interested to hear from any UK Evo owners regarding the phone signal, is it as much of a problem with GSM too?

[Q] one x, s3, EVO 4g LTE.....no longer wanted

how many of us EVO 3d owners were gonna switch to the phones in the title, im gsm and lte wont be hitting the uk (like the evo 3d wasnt)
UNTIL ICS WAS LEAKED
and then changed there mind, deciding, the EVO still has life left in the old baby yet
I'll still be upgrading
Sent from my PG86100
I'll be pre ordering the LTE for sure. I upgrade once a year no matter what.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
honestly the best way to use an upgrade is on a iPhone (if you like them), because sprint devices drop value after 2-3 months you could pick one up used for contract price from craigslist

That's not a bad idea. Get the iPhone for contract price. Sell it for way more. Buy a used Evo LTE. Then keep the profit.

I'm still going to preorder the LTE but if Newt gets his Rom running 100percent I may keep my 3d
Method1911 3D
HTC has announced that the One X won't be unlockable on AT&T. If they don't allow unlocking on Sprint, how will that affect your decision? I'm sure a dev or three will eventually find a hole and give us a root method, but I'm sure it won't be easy and may be a good bit of a wait.
Yes that's a good point. If it cannot be unlocked, I'll keep my 3d.
Method1911 3D
I'll be ordering mine in 20 hours 18 mins and 15 seconds
HTC really shot themselves in the foot, not that im complaining
Still getting the EVO LTE the EVO 3d is good and has life but its missing something what idk
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
the evo 3d is still good, not the best phone possible obviously but more than "good enough" with this update, I dont think that I will upgrade at least for six months more, probably next year.
my money now will go toward a new tablet instead of a new phone.
ICS is nice but the New Camera, Kickstand, S4 Krait, 16GB, HD Voice, LTE, NFC and Sense 4.0 with the new EVO is really tempting.
If anything, ICS/Sense 3.6 made my 3D go up in value.
I'm going to need a Sprint leak or final before I actually sell though. Can't roam with the current VM leak.

I think Agrabren mentioned something about finding an exploit in the S4 chip and stated that REVOLUTIONARY will only support qualcom chips. We should be in good shape with or without HTC's unlock, though I doubt Sprint will restrict unlocking.
Think I'm going to wait for the s3 i love sense but I'm tired of HTC the so called flagship phones come out with a bang then in 3 months or less they are forgotten look at the 3d and rezound
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
The OneX is unlockable even on AT&T. HTC announced they understood that customers were very upset that they could not unlock their devices and decided to make all new phones since the 3d, unlockable. As far as sense3.6, I'm not that excited about it. Sense 4.0 is still way much better. I'm going to get the OneX when it comes to sprint in June. But the name is going to be changed, adding it to the evo family. I hear its suppose to be the best evo yet, even topping the Evo4g LTE. I'm excited.

When the OneX joins Sprints Evo family, its said to have removeable SD unlike AT&T version. As for the removeable battery, I'm sure there is a way, there is ALWAYS a way.

Yes. Having been a tmo customer for over 12years I am well aware of that thanks though lol.
The rezound is a Verizon phone fyi.
I was just wondering what if any experiences amaze owners have had .

Just check gsmarena, pretty sure they have a review on it, they have a review on just about every phone and pretty solid at that, they tell you as it is, if that battery life sucks, they say so flat out.
I've used one before cause I was thinking about going to Verizon. It has a slighter higher resolution (720x1280) but the picture quality is pretty much identical. The LTE network is very fast but unfortunately it will put quite a drain on the battery if you leave it on. That's one of the reasons I went with the HTC Amaze since HSPA+ is about as fast as Verizon's LTE... and no battery drain.
Oh yeah it has Beats audio but its just software and can be flashed to the Amaze if your phone is rooted.

[Q] Upgrading to a new free phone; Suggestions

So my upgrade on my EVO 3D comes up tomorrow, I was going to get one of the free phones on my upgrade. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for which one I should get. Heres what I've been leaning towards.
Samsung Galaxy S III:
+Good phone, I know people that have them and they aren't bad
-No LTE, I use my phone network for a lot of things.
HTC Evo 4G LTE:
+Going from an EVO to an EVO is good right?
-Worried about the battery life, I got hurt by my 3D and don't want to see it go that way again.
Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE:
+Full Keyboard; Also had an Atrix before my 3D, so I'm used to motorolas bass ackwards rooting and hacking and whatnot
-From what I can tell the screen is really crappy. Does anyone know if this is true?
Is there something that I'm missing out on as far as free sprint phones goes? What do you guys suggest?
Ive came away from htc and went for a samsung s3 and I can honestly say im really happy with it plus rooting is easy all the roms are good and battery life in some are awesome. The only thing I miss from htc phones is the clock with the weather changing on the phone
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I wouldn't recommend Motorola Photon Q.
So try deciding between Galaxy S3 or Evo 4G LTE.
In your place i would choose S3 as many people have it thus greater support on XDA but if connectivity on LTE means much more than that then go with HTC Evo 4G LTE.
Or simply, flip a coin. Not because the coin will choose for you, but because, in that split second, you'll know what side you want it to fall on.

lol, I've been leaning more towards the S3 already. Does anyone know what kind of speed difference I would possibly see in the San Diego area? Also, would it be worth it for me to wait till I have some extra cash? Is the S4 a big improvement? Or is there something else worth it?
If I had the opportunity I would jump to s3. The phone is better than the other two all round and the support is better too.

The LTE connectivity in the EVO LTE sucks donkey butt. It won't connect in places were my GS3 connects with no issue. Supposedly the One has the same problem too.
