I had something like this happen to me on viper's rom, i wasnt getting email notifications. Turns out i didnt have my gmail sync'd.
Go to settings > accounts & sync and verify you have twitter and facebook accounts. If they arent click on add at the top right. If they are there try to re sync them. If that doesnt work try to remove and then add them back.
Hope this helps

[Q] Push mail not possible in HTC gmail?

In the gmail app, whenever I get mail, I will get a notification instantly. I wonder, is this same thing possible for gmail within the HTC mail app? Because that app is so much better looking and easier to use..
HTC Mail app is a pull app not a push app. The only way to get instant notification is if you have sync set to sync every minute which of course would drain your battery in about an hour.

Ah damn that sucks. Why couldn't HTC just skin the gmail app as well..
I actually get push mail through the htc app. I had to set it up manually. Setup like an exchange account put M.google.com. for your domain. Works for me

It works but is it safe to uninstall gmail?

I used to use this on my windows phone to get push gmail back in the day. I don't think its okay to delete the gmail app itself though. I just turned the notifications off for it so I don't get double notified and turn the sync off for it.

Use Friendcaster. It's a much better facebook app. You actually get notifications and contacts sync without issue.

Agreed 100%. Friendcaster is the best fb app out right now hands down

I used to use friendcaster but then... lol jk not making an arrow in the knee joke but anyway i stopped using friendcaster when the facebook app actually got good
Keep in mind that any variance in the name between FB and your contacts may require you to 'join' the two via Edit in the Contacts menu.
+1 for Friendcaster too.

Twitter Integration

I know from messing around with the htc evo 4g lte it has the ability to sync contact from twitter.
I have since upgraded to the Galaxy SIII and want to know what app would provide similar twitter integration

When Twitter is first downloaded and opened up it should come up with an option to sync contacts once you've signed in.
If not, try reinstalling it again.

No like in my contacts app I can link Facebook profiles etc. But twitter isn't an option.
On the htc you can link your peep(or whatever their twitter app is) to your contacts.

No need to do it in contacts, by installing Twitter you can sync your contacts from Twitter INTO the contacts app

Mms

Why does my mms keep going to my gmail? Does anyone know how to change it to go to my text messaging? Thanks

Details would help, are you using a stock rom or custom, stock messaging or third party, are you using Google voice, if so did you select full integration?
I'm using tranquility ics stock messaging

Well I was hoping you would say Google voice, they forward mms to Gmail. I don't know what could cause it other then maybe having mms forward to Gmail from your account address. Last I checked sprint was getting rid of the personal account address for picture mail though

Did you look in general settings in messaging app? There a setting there to forward to emails or another number.
I've never noticed that, right there in general settings, good to know
Yes I have google voice. I selected full integration. Is that why mms is coming in to gmail ?

check your settings on google voice, check the native messaging app as well just to make sure that one isn't fowarding them. If you still can't, just go to gmail and create a folder for mms and tell gmail to route all the mms to that folder and it should kill any email notifications

New contacts not syncing properly

So hey I had a few new contacts. So I went into settings and synced those contacts. Then I turned sync off. I never have auto sync on because of the battery issues. But when I flash a ROM, and log back into my gmail. Those new contacts I recently synced aren't there

Yeah, same thing happens to me. I don't know Wtf is up with that either

You guys are saving them to the phone or to the email address, when adding them it will show you where is been saved. Once in a while is good to synch to make sure is been saved
