If you're so anxious to get Jelly Bean on your phone, why don't you simply flash a JB based custom rom?

[Q] International Compatibility

So I asked a question like three days ago and I think I wasn't very clear
I have a Mexican SG3 and I want to try one of the European Jelly Bean Roms that have been out for weeks but I haven't really understood how does the builds and basebands work on this phone, I used to have an epic 4g touch from Sprint and I was used to only have one kind of baseband because it's an us phone only, but with this one I don't know what all the XX(insert random letters here) builds mean cause my phone has a build number of UBBLG2 and I'm afraid that if I install one of the jelly bean roms my data service will be lost...could someone please tell me how does this work
Sent from my GT-I9300
since its the international s3, you have no problem.
If you lose your service flash a compatible modem/radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061

but if there's no JB modem for my GS3 can I use a ICS modem that is from my region?!

There is only one modem for JB, much more simple than allthe ics stuff. In the pointed thread download XXDLID baseband if you don't already have it.

Don't worry, just flash the jb rom. If you encounter andyproblem, then you should flash another modem.

firmware update to 4.2

I'm in Ireland and am rooted using CF method on 4.0.4 with litning rom installed.
Can someone link the firmware update package for me for the 4.2 update please?
I want to retain my root obviously, but I'm told I will lose it after I update...is this the case?
Sorry mate but 4.1.1 is barely released for SGS3, so 4.2 is coming earliest sometime next year. So nobody can't provide you link for that

[Q] official jellybean for s2

i have rooted my sgs2.. previously it was supported with kernel version xwlp7.. now i have changed its ROM to cm 10, jellybean 4.1.1.. and now it shows kernel version 3.0.36-cm-g1e9497f. i want to again change the rom to the official 4.1.2. how can i do it?
You'd be better off asking in the GS2 forums. However, there is no official 4.1.2 as yet. There is a leaked test build, which I'm on, but it's a bit buggy ans Samsung still haven't removed the eMMC bug from the stock kernel, so if you dont know what youre doing, which I suspect you dont, you can irreversibly break your phone
If you really want to install the test build though, just have a search for XXLSJ (the rom build).

Yes you can directly upgrade to Jelly Bean from Ginger Bread (2.3.5)
you need to keep in mind that the ROM is a leaked one and it has bugs and you might also have battery drain if you dont tweak it.
you can use the thread below to install it
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995987&highlight=cleaned+thread
Also keep in mind official jb is expected out any day. Why flash the leak when you can flash official soon enough.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Yup if you are not experienced and don't want to waste your time on struggling with bugs then better install ics 4.0.3 and wait for official release of JB

R: [Q] s3 need some advice
It's not like u can use the same rom though...so still it's better to update via kies or ota....how many megabytes can it be?
Anyway u could use a download booster program such as internet download manager to download the file first then flash
