[Q] Slow Galaxy Tab 10.1 Performance - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
i am using my galaxy tab lately, but noticed it had unbelivably slow performance in games like modern combat 3, asphalt 7, and even Sonic 4 Episode 2 and BIT TRIP BEAT, and shown many apps in the playstore as being incompatible. after testing lots of roms, i decided to put a jellybean 4.1.2 rom on it and overclock. although more apps are shown as compatible with it, the device still performs poorly in a lot of 2d and 3d games. tried to live with it, but when i saw that the official (physical) samsung keyboard that i got it with it (connects through charging port) which was recognised by stock hc and ics is now recognised by it as a timer (wtf), i decided i must find a better rom. been looking for weeks by now. i will appreciate any suggestion from you to a fast performing, battery efficient and highly compatible rom and kernel combination that i could use on my device that you have tested and can recommend.
Thank you, E.

I like both the aokp and cm10 4.2 jb roms.
It could be some of the games you are playing, not all developers try hard. Nfs most wanted has amazing graphics and plays great, I have had other games with Nintendo graphics that don't run smooth.

[Q] Corwin CM7 RC4 port

Hi,
I've tried every other GB port out there (Vegan 7, G Harmony, ASOP), but they all seem to fall a little short (ex: fail to run Samurai II), or crash often. So far my favorit is G Harmony... Not as pretty or "tablet optimized" as Vegan, but looks good and is very stable so far!
The crashing... not that unexpected, but can anyone comment on App compatibility with the lastest Rom from Corwin? Was the Nvidia Tegra code integrated into it for hardware acceleration? Do the Tegra optimized apps work (more precisely Samurai II which seems to cause the most problems)
Thanks for the comments
every GB port i tried doesnt play videos correctly so im stay on vegantab

Modern Combat 4

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is on the horizon. I'm really hoping the galaxy player can handle it as modern combat I think is the best game from Game loft. What are your thoughts on MC4 and it running on the player?

Really???
Do you consider this a developmental topic to be placed here?
Not to be rude but I think you posted this in the wrong section...
eek:OOOPS! I'm too used to posting in the dev section. If one of the admins would move it I would be truly grateful.

Agreed, a mod needs to place this in the General section.
On topic: Games work on the Samsung Galaxy Player? While I joke a bit, I am serious at the same time. The only games I have been able to run on the Samsung Galaxy Player are the Rovio games (angry birds, alex) and Sonic CD aka 2d games. Games I use to play on Android that were my favorite were Dead Space, Mass Effect Infiltrator, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, and numerous other richly graphical games just run out of memory, freeze, crash, or reboot the device. This could be because almost every custom rom breaks games in general on the Galaxy Players - I'm on the Ethereal Rom only to have better battery life.
I'm only holding out because I don't want to set up everything again and await the ICS rom/kernal us 4.0 users have been patiently waiting for.
Stock rom btw has everything working because I played them before rooting - especially the games I mentioned above. If anything, if the ICS rom/kernal doesn't meet my expectations - I'll revert back to stock and stay there with a custom Launcher like Go or Holo, only to keep root and use Klin R3 or Terrasilent for kernal to have Voodoo.
So imo, if you have a custom rom on your device, don't count on MC4 to work... MC3 doesn't...
Yes. I do find that (no offence devs) that my performance has dropped a bit on the gaming side of things. However Asphalt 7 runs real nice and before I switched to Remics-UX Nova 3 was smooth as well. However Modern Combat 3 dosn't start at all anymore. But it wasn't the smoothest of all games. It only ran smooth on 2.3. MC4 Looks only a little better graphicsso it might run but I have that gut feeling. I sometimes think "why don't I switch back to 2.3"? And it's hard not to.

Technically this isn't the note forum but are you running a custom ROM?
I succeeded it running on Nebula ICS, It walks fine but when in some conflict area, it is so laggy. I think trying it with linrom would be good.

Asphalt 7 unplayable

Hi, guys!! I have been doing many tests, and I was very, very happy with my 7100 and stock ics rooted rom, everything was fine until I finally got ASPHALT 7 working... but, it's totally unplayable, runs very, very laggy and doesn't respond to accelerometer...I couldn't believe it if I wouldn't have seen it, my powerfull tegra2 dual core tablet, running an unplayable game!! Then I tried latest CM9-20120928-EXPERIMENTAL-P3 because of the oc 1,4ghz possibility, but I get the same results, so... desperately I went back to this one "[ROM][4 Dec][HC32] isi-galaxy 1.2.5v with pershoot's kernel", and what I see... THE GAME RUNS NEAR PERFECT!! I have touchwiz apps, samsung apps, DLNA, accuweather... all the touchwiz's stuff (which I have to confess I missed, so an ICS port from 7500 version like the one I'm talking about would be great).
So, I find my self that, after being so mad about getting ICS on 7100, I have to turn back to 3.2 because it offers better performance at last. Yes, yes, I miss google chrome and some other things, but.. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS, PEOPLE???

[Q] Slower games on JB?

hi im new here but does JB limit the games performance?
dead trigger and my little pony lags a little
kingdoms of camelot has laggy scrolling in map
angry birds and bad piggies have this frame stutter
in ICS there is no lag or is it just me?
last used ICS is omega v9
jumped to JB omega 33.2 then 33.3 no v6supercharger used the siyahkernel still the same
did a full wipe twice still the same
everything is ok except the games is the games programmers made it more compatible in ICS than JB since it new and have to wait for updates?
can somebody else try?
considering going back to ICS since i use my phone much more on games
I play a lot of games in my JB'ned S III (stock, 4.1.2, rooted, CSC = XEU) and I don't think games are SLOWER on it than in ICS.
Some games are simply slow no matter where you play them. One such example is EA's Real Racing 2: the menu transitions are painfully slow.
Other games are blazing fast, list Gameloft's Modern Combat 3.
All in all, it think it's more of a perception than a fact, and in my perception, JB is a bit faster than ICS.
Don't think so. I used to install a lot of heavy games on my S3 and everything works just smooth, except for Avengers. I'm on stock JB rom.
gonna try the stock JB roms, before i try can any of you try kingdoms of camelot and try to scroll at the map if it looks laggy?
Like I wrote, sometimes it is just the games that are slow, and that has nothing to do with the ROM you're on.
There are good games and bad games, and none of the currently available games for Android benefit of our phone's 4 cores.

[Q] CM10.1 Safe Overclocking speed for emulation

Hello, i want to emulate NDS rom, it is a normal game, not so much touch activity, no the best NDS graphics, and when it emulates, it goes a bit slow, i just need some more speed and it would be great, so i wanted to overclock to check out if it gives me the extra hardware power i need, the emulator is NDS4droid, i saw this same game running on a google nexus 7 smoothly so i wanna check out if i can do it on my SGS2, so the question is:
With CM 10.1, Resurrection Remix 3.1.3 JB, what would be a safe overcloking ?, also like how much time could i stay playing to not burn the processor
Thanks for your time
bump
What kernel are you using?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using 2nd ROM
NDS is the worst to emulate...
it lag even in my Nexus 7, OC to 1.55Ghz
because theres so many variables to look at!
1. NDS Rom Source, quality of ROM and country source? EU, US blah blah
2. NDS emulator app?, theres good and bad.
3. device RAM
4. CPU speed, it lags in my nexus 7, not even gonna try in S2,
to take that, NDs games wont be enjoyable being emulated, i wanna try Pokemon SO BAD, so i emulated it with Nexus 7, and the controls are crappy, and lags.
So i just bought a preowned 3DS XL, bought Pokemon black 2, and its epic!
