Check out the new phone - HTC Amaze 4G

http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/13/htc-droid-dna-verizon/
WOW... nice phone! Is it a world phone? I saw GSM on the last paragraph, hoping someone can clarify whether this would work on t mobil

Edit: according to this article it is using the quad core pro chip... I read elsewhere it was using the dual core s4 processor. But I agree esp. If using the quad core chip this looks pretty solid

meh. I'll be waiting for something with a removable battery and micro SD. I just can't be bothered to spend that kind of cash and get something that could get a pooched battery, then what? Besides, nothing beats having a fresh battery. I've been through 4 already with my amaze, which is inconvenient, so what do you do with one that's out of warranty and you get battery issues?

1080p screen 5" screen + HTC phone + LTE + 2020 mAh non replaceable battery = a phone that will barely get you through your work day, if even that.

Truly a game changer with a battery you can replace and the ability to add memory. No micro SD / no removable battery = Sad phone

The lack of an SD card slot is really the only downside of the new Nexus 4. Truly a tragedy...

Google doesn't like SD cards, so I guess other Android OEMs are following too. Read this: http://androidcommunity.com/googles...s-lack-of-sd-cards-in-nexus-devices-20121030/
I'm happy to hear that the Nexus 4 DOES support USB OTG so I can always plug in my external hard drive or flash drive to the phone.

HTC is doing it because they think people care more about how thin the phone is. That's y they got rid of sd card slots and removable batteries

I added this comment there. I'm baffled by that reasoning...
"If someone can figure out how to connect a Nexus device to their PC using a USB, then I'm fairly certain they wouldn't not suddenly become overwhelmed by this "fandangled device" called an external SD card.
They weren't too complicated for people to use in their cameras, and they even had them in their PCs.
You know what's more complicated? Pairing a Bluetooth device, or NFC and yet these technologies remain persistent....
An SD card, you simply pop it in the slot, and if they don't know it's there, then they're not going to lose sleep over it. No settings pop ups, no panic."

It's a cop out to not include them. And there is more motivation to pay for the higher memory device. It's too bad and on occasion I'm sure the normal user doesn't know which one it is saved to... Why not have the slot, but not include a card. That way those who find the concept 'complicated' don't have to bother with purchasing one and others can... Oh well Google, you're crazy!

no kidding. Just briefly looking up the crapple 5, going from 16 to 32 costs you $100, and from 32 to 64 another $100. You can get a 32gig micro sd for $30, there goes their 'profit'.
All it takes is one manufacturer to see what the rest are doing, and offer the feature that people demand, and sell a ton of devices.

[Q] My evo 3d only has 1gb of internal memory, not 4.

Anyone else having this problem. Sprint site says 4gb internal memory. I'm smelling some complaining for a credit bc of false advertising.
That memory is allocated.

I agree i assumed I would have nearly 4gb of available internal memory. I would love to have that advertised memory available to me. Its not a deal breaker for me due to the fact that every downloaded app is able to be saved to sd.

You think that's bad? I love the people who buy hard drives and are clueless who sizes work in terms of bytes and bits.

The RUU is only 400MB and only having 1 out of 4 GB is a little extreme... I'm wondering where the rest of it is too.

Droids and Memory cards MicroSDHC

I was sitting here thinking, How cool it would be if it was possible first, and then if a manufacture would produce a phone that can stack or run multiple SD cards. Kinda like a desktop usually has 4 slots for RAM...
Is there a reason why Phones can't have at least 2 slots for SD cards?
Our phone already has something similar. We have our internal as well as out external. I don't think it will happen though as with how cheap sdhc is most people would rather have 1 large card.

Wouldn't think multi SD card support but maybe expandable ram for Tablets and hybrid phone/tablets or possibly true USB support as in being able to connect a thumb drive to the phone not just access the phone as a USB mass storage device thru the micro USB/charging port.
I don't even use the 16 gb available to me, but I guess it'd be cool for those with more storage demands
the Sg3, can use two. both 64gb if you have them.

If it did have multiple SD slots you'd be able to setup a RAID array if you were adventurous enough. Might be fun from a hack point of view anyhow...
Dell Streak always had 2 slots, 1 external, 1 internal, internal microsd card can be changed, swapped or upgraded to any size you like with some effort, you have to cut away a section under the battery cover to expose the internal card.

What size is the included sd card that is removable?

What size is the SD card? Picking my EVOLTE up on Saturday wondering if I need to pick up a new sd card as well. Currently have a 16gb class 6

From the unboxings that I have seen none of them mention it including one, but I am not positive.
0GB class 0.
It doesn't come with an external like the OG evo did.
So you'll need to supply your own.
Anything up to 64gb works just fine. I wouldn't recommend anything under a class 6.

Bc by not providing a 16gb ext sd Sprint added an extra $10 profit for each phone sold. Duh. It's just a way to cut a corner. I assume it's the same reason for the 18" useless power cable.

I'm sure I would and so would most people who care about an external sd card would put more then they would have giving with the phone. I still have all my cards that came with phones in the past just sitting in a box somewhere cause I would put at least a 16 gb card in it.

MicroSD related problem

I want to share my experience using microsdhc I had been used 32gb class 10 from Team. Used it for about 11 months then died. About 8 months in HTC Desire S without any problem and 3 months in Galaxy S3. I think it died because overheated while backup ROM with recovery. Desire S aluminum body easily dissipated heat then Galaxy S3. That's just opinion.

Sdcard

Has anyone ran into a issue with their sdcard and their Note2?
Last night I used my Note2 with no issues. Woke up this morning and noticed I had a alert message saying that the sdcard had been unexpectedly unmounted. Couldnt get the sdcard to remount. The phone wouldn't/couldnt reconize thw sdcard. And even my laptop couldn't reconize it. But the phone reconized a different sdcard, so I know the phone reader is still working. But this is a Lexar 64gb class 10 xc sdcard. Not some cheap trash. I lost my nandroid backups, movies, pics, etc....
Just glad I wasn't running the Jellybeans v18 on the sdcard swap selection. Then I wouldn't be able to use my phone period. Lmk if you have seen these sdcards go out before. Just beware!!!

What he's referring to is JellyBeans additional "SD Swap" feature which basically makes your phone see your SD Card as the internal storage. I don't know why he thinks his phone wouldn't work though, as with any phone the Internal Storage/SD Card is not required for the device to operate.

I've ran into this issue with Lexar jump drives and had to use command prompt in W7 to make them work again. It always happened when I would write a Linux distro to the drive to use as a bootable disk.
The fix requires you completely wiping the drive, which the two jump drives in question that I always have issues with are actually micro SD card readers with whatever size card in them.
Here is the link explaining how to fix it:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/219693/unable-to-format-usb-stick-to-full-capacity/
What I have to do though is select the disk drive and once in it I have to use the Create Partition Primary command instead of selecting a partition because on my drives there are no partitions and it won't even show up under Computer most of the time. Give it a shot and see if it gets you back up and running, if not you may have a faulty card that Lexar needs to replace.
