[APP] CardDav synchronizer - Windows Phone 8 Apps and Games

Hi guys,
I'm currently developing an application to synchronize CardDav contacts (CalDav will come after) on WP8.
I only got an OwnCloud (4.5) server, so I can't test/make compatibility with other CardDav servers.
I plan to release my app in the next two weeks, and I'd like to have as many servers supported as possible. If some of you can give me test accounts to different CardDav servers, I'll be grateful.
Thanks !
Edit: The app has been published! Check it out here: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/carddav/4ff19624-0614-40b5-b6f9-bdf5d33e7d25

Oh man, I don't have a test account, but I use Memotoo (that supports CardDav format). You could set one up there for free to test stuff.

Memotoo supports exchange protocol, which means on a WP you don't need a special app to synchronize your contacts/calendar (http://www.memotoo.com/fr/?lang=fr#sync_phone).

You can create a free icloud account at icloud.com apple does also use calDAV and cardav
If your app will be released i will definitve buy it!!! need it to sync my icloud stuff with windows phone 8

Thanks! Do you know which version of vCard is David12 using (2.1, 3 or 4)? I didn't planned to implement 2.1 support, but I might have to if a lot of users are using it...

Do you have any ETA or need some beta testing i would love to help! i have a htc 8x

Yeah I'll maybe make a beta test phase to ensure a maximum compatibility before the release. Thanks.

GMAIL also supports CardDav, so you may test with them.
And given that Google sunsets ActiveSync support in Gmail - CardDav becomes the only way to sync contacts, so you should test with Gmail!

Hi guys,
The app is now available on the Windows Phone Market (here http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/carddav/4ff19624-0614-40b5-b6f9-bdf5d33e7d25).
It's a V1 and I'll be happy to fix any issues if there is or to add more servers compatible. Just feed me back some information.
Bye =)

Hi ...
I use jabber on my XDA as well as on my PC (firewall issues :? )
Currently, all Jabber servers have a major problem with the Yahoo transporter, as Yahoo team is sending a broadcasting messages and Jabber team tried to modify their transporter to stop this kind of messages.
I usually use Tipic.com, but its Yahoo service is down now. I found that "amessage.info" is working fine (at least for today ).
In all cases, if you went to www.jabber.org, you should find a link "public servres" which is updated by a list of Jabber servers and their support.
How to get iMov setup???
How do you get imov set up? I'm running 4.0.21 WM2003 and when I start up iMov and try to run the setup wizzard nothing seems to happen. I select which services I want to use it with, and press ok, but that's it. Nothing seems to happen.
Please help
I 'm so sorry dear .... I 'm not familiar with WM2003 ... I couldn't upgrade to any version ... u better check with any 2003 user
Good luck
Tell me how it works on yours...
Tell me, if you don't mind, how it works on your version and I'll try it on mine.
Thanx
Hi again ...
Nothing much more creating an account on one of Jabber servers (tipic.com is good) ... then register on each service with the required data (UIN for icq and ID for yahoo and e-mail address for MSN) ... you don't have to use the wizard. On the bottom bar press 'menu -> setup' ... if everything is correct, you should see the icon of each registered service in yellow ... if not, either its gateway is down, or you entered wrong data.
one more thing, in the login screen, you must see or enter the jabber server you registered with.
hope that will help ... good luck
where to add service name?
How do you add the jabber service name? From the Menu menu I tried setup, but when I press setup from the service setup screen nothing happens. I even tried under the advanced and put a jabber server there, but nothing happens. I'm sure I'm just missing something small.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx again
Thanx for the help... I figured it out...
I finally figured it out. It defaults to auto-login, but since I hadn't logged in before I didn't get the login screen to enter my info. Once I unchecked that option I was able to login and use it...
Thanx for your help.

Stock email app question (or alternatives?)

I use the stock email app to check Yahoo emails via POP3. My question is: is there is any way to limit the range of days for the sync?
I hardly check my emails on my phone but I'm constantly sending emails out. My "problem" is that the stock app wants to download every email missing since the last time I synced, usually about a week's worth or so. And since it downloads from oldest to current, it can take a while.
Ideally, I'd love to be able to set the sync range to the last day or three days. I just haven't found that option with the stock app.
I've tried K-9 and another one or two that I'm forgetting (probably Enhanced), but I wasn't too crazy about them and stuck with stock. Didn't like Yahoo's email app, either.
Any suggestions?
The stock email app is indeed rather basic and kinda limited when it comes to certain stuff, so I'm not surprised at all if it can't do what you're asking.
I'm a little surprised you don't like K-9 though. Haven't used it personally (I hardly ever use any kind of email on my phone), but I have yet to see someone who was unhappy with it (or, well, at least until now... guess I just saw someone like that now, lol).
No suggestions then, since my suggestion would be K-9.

K9 is the best mail app for POP and IMAP. EnhancedEmail is the best for Exchange. I have tried and compared almost all of the email apps.
I'll give K9 another shot as I can't specifically remember what problem I had with it.
I still wish I could just give the app a date range. I simply don't need to access every email I've ever received. The stock app on Palm's OS had this feature and it was incredibly useful.
Edit: I solved the problems I originally had with K-9, namely figuring out how to create a shortcut that went directly to a specific inbox instead of having to click around to get to it.
Cheers!
Maildroid is my choice after trying K9. K9 didn't let me change ports if you have an IMAP/SMTP hybrid mail account.

I use Enhanced Email and have had no complaints. Great for all account types imo.

You might want to look at Touchdown also. I've been using the trial version and so far I've been impressed.
I ditched stock for K-9 also.
The only reason I didn't stick with K-9 was it wasn't playing well with the exchange server at work. I've not had any such problems with Touchdown. But for POP3 K-9 probably would've worked fine.
I'll give Touchdown a try tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.
I use AquaMail for my Yahoo mail.

Stock Z2 email synching error

Hello everyone. I'm having issues with the stock email app on my Z2. I have successfully configured my work email (Exchange ActiveSync) with the app but I find that not all of my emails are synched into the mailbox. More of less, I am missing some of the emails sent to me.
I'm also using CloudMagic on my Z2 and apparently, all my emails are synched with it. Somehow, there seems to be an issue only with the stock email client for the Z2.
The stock email app also says that I have 5 unread emails but scrolling through the inbox would not reveal any unread emails as per the image posted.

Hello @shahrulghani.
There seems to be a bug in the latest update from Sony regarding this app.
For a temporary workaround you will have to use other apps like CloudMagic which you mentioned.
Further investigation is required by Sony, and a bug report has been filed.
If other users get errors after updating to 4.4.4, then feel free to post in this thread with screenshots and / or error message.
I am also getting an error with my sync and stock email app
my gmail works fine
however hotmail and my university email no longer connect, was working fine about a week ago
i have even tried inputting the POP3/SMTP, IMAP settigns as per the microsoft page:
but just keeps saying canot connect to server ( i even assinged a static ip and put my phone in the DMZ zone from router so no ports are blocked) and gmail syncs fine.

Aqua Mail on HMS vs Gmail on GMS

Aqua Mail on HMS vs Gmail on GMSEmail clients have been essential to making email use, on mobile devices, easy and more efficient. A good email client will have tools for customization, organization, dark/light themes, spam filters, and more. Gmail is the most popular email service in the world and its Android app is a favorite among people who have GMS-powered phones. But what about people with HMS phones? For people using new Huawei devices that use HMS, AppGallery hosts many third-party solutions. One of these solutions is an email client called Aqua Mail. Let's compare the two.
Gmail on GMSThe Gmail app has the huge advantage of being tied to your Gmail account. For any GMS-powered phone, this is the very first thing that you'll set up on your new Android device. Gmail is the central component that powers everything in the Google ecosystem. The app comes preinstalled on most Android phones and is completely free to use in its full capacity.
Despite the name, Gmail isn't only for Gmail users. The Gmail app can manage email accounts from a number of different providers. This is good news for anyone that doesn't want to use multiple email clients. This will make any third-part email services that you might have, look and behave just like a Gmail account.

}
Since it is backed by one of the biggest tech companies in the world, you'll always have access to cutting-edge communication technologies, like predictive AI text.
Gmail is preferable to just about every third-party client that is available on the Play store. It's a very simple app to use and is available on just about any platform.
Aqua Mail on HMSThis email client claims to be the "most customizable email client for Android". It has a massive amount of features that can be tweaked to give you your ideal experience. There are over 300 settings for customization alone.
The client features tools that allow you to sync your Exchange contact and calendar, easily. When you're composing an email, you'll be able to use their rich text editor to make your emails look exactly how you want them to.
A dark mode can be enabled to make your emailing easier on your eyes. The app looks really great and is very simple to navigate. Managing your emails is very similar to the system that Gmail has. For example, the same swipe features are here that allows you to easily delete or move specific emails from your inbox. So users that are coming from the Gmail app will have no trouble jumping right in with Aqua Mail.
This is one of the best options for people with HMS phones and is a great replacement for the Gmail app. You can download Aqua Mail for free from the Huawei AppGallery. There is also a pro version that you can buy, which gets rid of ads and unlocks some premium features.PREMIUM FEATURES:Get the most out of Aqua Mail by purchasing the Pro version and unlock: • Push mail for Exchange servers (corporate email) and Office 365. • Add multiple accounts. • Use identities. • Remove the Aqua Mail promo signature in outgoing messages. • Remove ads.
Love it
Nice alternative.
