[Q] Google "Voice Search" 3.0.1 -- Does Not Recognize CALL Command; Does Websearch - Motorola Droid RAZR

[Q] Google "Voice Search" 3.0.1 -- Does Not Recognize CALL Command; Does Websearch
My Droid Razr Maxx is running stock (but rooted) ICS 4.0.4. The version of Google Voice Search installed is 3.0.1. Google Voice Saearch is a successor to Google Voice Actions. It's supposed to be able to call a contact by giving the command:
CALL [contact name]
Click to collapse
Example: "Call Joe Blow Mobile" (mobile tells it to use the "mobile" number listed instead of asking me which of Joe Blow's various numbers to dial) is supposed to call Joe Blow's mobile number.
When I give this command, it just does a web search instead. In the Settings of Google Voice, you can tell it which things/services are "searchable." I have mine set to search contacts only, but it still interprets everything as a request for a websearch. I've tried force-stopping the app. I've tried clearing it's data and cache. Nothing changes.
BTW... the version of Voice Search on Play.Google.Com is 2.1.4. The Play Store says that this is what is installed on my phone, but my version is actually 3.0.1. I can neither uninstall what I have nor update it.
Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?
Can anyone recommend a fix for my Razr?

This is not going to be helpful to fix google voice... but here's an alternative: I quite like Motorola's voice commands which you can activate by double tapping home button. Go to its settings and you can even make it adapt to your voice.
It's reliable and recognise names better than google voice or any other voice apps like vlingo. I've been using it with my car bluetooth speaker which automatically turns on voice commands when I press the call button on the bt device.

I can't find anything called Motorola Voice Commands on my Droid Razr Maxx. Do you find it under "M" or "V" or something else?

V, Voice Commands. My mistake. It's not made by Motorola, but made by Nuance. However it's in my stock asia RAZR.
Here's an apk of the app, and titanium backup (in case the apk doesn't work). Hope this solves your problem.

Thanks for this and I probably will install it eventually, but I need to investigate further beforehand. I looked on my system, but found no app called "V" or "Voice Commands." I started to install the APK, but it warned me that this would replace a system app, although it didn't say what that system app is. I live in the USA. Apparently, I have something equivalent that is not called Voice Commands, but which is the same as Voice Commands.
I will investigate and report back...

It's not called V. I was replying to your question to whether it's under V or M. Lol.
Perhaps the app will only appear if you have a bluetooth audio device?
You can also try under settings->accessibility-> Double tap home launch and see if Voice commands is on the list.
Btw I'm using Nova launcher, maybe that "unhides" the app? >_>

[Q] Google Now with Bluetooth

Really ticked that I cannot figure this out....
So, I have Google Now as part of Nocturnal Rom
I use bluetooth headphones and the Belkin bluetooth car adapter
Both of these products have a voice dialing feature. The problem is, that it launches the Voice Dialer app, which is as useful as bellybutton on a forehead.
I have the app Bluetooth Launch, which supposedly lets you program what happens when you push the voice dialing button on a bluetooth device. No luck.
I want to try to get rid of the Voice Dialer app using Titanium Backup, but I cannot find anything that come close to "Voice Dialer" on the list of apps.
Anybody know how to make Google Now the default Voice Dialing/Searching app when using a bluetooth device?

May want to try freezing voice control.
I believe that is what the OG uses for voice dialing.
I know that app can dial numbers.
Tried it. (actually deleted it)
Still no dice
Thanks for the tip, though

Google Now via Bluetooth stuck on "Initializing" Droid Razr Maxx

So, like many other users, I prefer to use the Google Now application instead of just the stock call dialer when connected to bluetooth, whether it be in the car or working out with a bluetooth headset, because it allows you to play music, navigate, etc... in addition to just calling some one. Also, like many other users, I've been doing this since voice search was introduced via Gingerbread.
But it seems that all good things must come to an end.
The Problem... Since Google Now, now uses bluetooth, that old Bluetooth Launch application causes it to get stuck on initializing when launching it from the bluetooth button from whatever bluetooth device you're using.
Without going into to much detail... there DOES exist 2 temporary fixes
1. Disable the Media Connection on your connected bluetooth device via bluetooth settings (not desirable) ,
2. The following solution involves root access, and the purchasing of 2 paid applications.
Guardian Bob... The creator of the original BluetoothLaunch app looks like he's working on an easier fix... but for now... if you're frustrated by the same problem on your droid razr maxx... go to the link I'll post at the end of this post, and use the Paid Titaniam backup application to convert Google Search to a user app
Then Use Bluetooth launch and configure it to launch the voice search activity,
Then use Tasker to program Google Search to Force Close on Profiles for each application you plan to use with Google Now while connected to bluetooth. (note, you can set the task to Force Close Google Search only when bluetooth is turned on, so you don't have to worry about it messing with your daily activities when you're not in the car or on a headset)
Details are here:

workaround
Still no fix coming from Google, but at least one nice guy made a temp fix while they do it.
Look for "Voice Command" app on Google Play. Developer's name is IT-DEV-CROWD or code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42178#c37
It worked for me, after trying a lot of different configurations.

This app did fix the issue where the bluetooth weird voice search comes up instead of Google Now, but I still get Google Now stuck at "initializing" after is opens. This only happens when I have bluetooth devices connected.

google assistant

Does Google assistant work for anyone on this phone? When I long press the on screen home button nothing happens and OK Google no longer works. The OK Google works partially in the Google app but that is on an old version

Not sure if this will help, but depending on the ROM you have installed (ie Lineage, I couldn't get google voice to listen and follow instructions from any screen. On Eragon however (which I have on my phone) you have the option to use "OK Google" from any screen (and Voice lock can be used as well) & the Google voice menu is different in Eragon compared to Lineage. In Eragon - its under settings >> Google >> Voice
From what I saw in Lineage its kinda under Settings >> Google >> Search (and I saw a voice menu but it doesn't allow voice commands from anywhere on the phone, just within Google Now from what I worked out).. it was pretty confusing to me, but i guess each ROM has different google gapps etc..
But Eragon (for me anyway) didn't do this by default, what I did was install the Google Now Lanucher and use it maybe once, then Installed my usual launcher Nova Launcher Prime and I can use Ok Google commands anywhere on the phone, even at lockscreen, as long as screen is on , so you can unlock the phone with your voice if that's your thing.
I know the Google assistant is the new kinda Google Voice and I ain't to sure of the changes between them both if I'm honest. From what I have heard you can get a "light taster" of Google assistant in the Google Allo app (although I have not tried this). But I can use Google Voice anywhere on my phone with Eragon using the OK Google command, (infact I use it ALL the time in my car - only time i use it as its handy for making calls / texts especially combined with Drivemode app) (& no pressing of speech button) providing you install Google Now and then use your preferred launcher. Obvioulsy as its always listening I guess it will use more battery, but as I only use in car with charger, its cool for me. Anyway, hope it helps you somewhat

Thanks, but im on the stock ROM. I reflashed it yesterday but it still wouldn't work. Seems to be a problem with the Google app I think

I have used the onscreen buttons. Does it work for you?
I'm on stock room no root in the UK and assistant is working for me. Only with the on screen software home button. I also have a Samsung galaxy tablet which still hasn't received it, figure that one out?

I couldn't get google assistant on Lineage at all I'm afraid (see my post above) , under Settings >> Google >> Search >> Voice on Eragon I get full functionality - unfortunately in Lineage it only has minimum Google Voice options (like you cant use voice from anywhere on handset - incl lock-screen)
There maybe a work around, (maybe ask in Lineage thread) but couldn't get it to work, I guess you can try and install Google Now Launcher (then just continue using your usual launcher) and see if it adds any further functionality - not an ideal solution as you have an extra launcher using resources in background, but worth a go
btw, there is another thread on the Elephone Forum which may help others regarding this: http://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13230&fromuid=90419#.WMqlQTuLSUk

NO DICE: unrooted LG V30, LG-H932, GOOGLE VOICE ACTIVATION JUST STOPS UNTIL RESTART

Issues:
1: Every 24-48 hours google activation, (activating the phone using "hey google", or "ok Google") simply STOPS. Until I restart the phone. No matter what wifi I use or where I am.
2: Google keyboard voice to text, (I use it when texting people, since it acts like dictation) just stops randomly, after a few sentences, especially when I use Textra message app.
Ay ideas on how to solve this?
(I already have an inquiry in to the textra team)
Thanks.

My US998 (plural) work fine with Google Assistant and my Google Voice number works fine. How are the two related?
Or do you mean voice dictation? Yeah, sometimes that stops while speaking and I have to restart.
Oh. maybe I didn;t make it clear enough.
two separate problems.
1: The phone won't wake up or respond to the "OK google" command unless I restart the phone
2: Like you said, I can only dictate a few words before it stops taking dictation.
Thanks.

What confused me when you said Google Voice doesn't work. Google Voice is a Google phone number and an app. It does work. My wife and I use Google Voice daily since 2012. I keep Google Voice app on my main screen.
At first I read, looking for the alleged Google Voice problem, then I realized you really meant dictation, voice-to-text.

Question Google Assistant not listening to my voice after successfully called with Hey Google

I have a problem with my Google Assistant on my Malaysian Set GT 2 Pro (Global Rom i suppose). Where if i call out 'Hey Google', Assistant will respond, even when the screen is off.. The assistant overlay appears, and mic is turned on ready for whatever I'm about to say next, but when i start speaking, it doesn't listen to me and no dictation of what i speak appears on the assistant as if i have not said a word. This only happen everytime after calling out the assistant with 'Hey Google'. If i start the assistant by long pressing home button, the assistant hears me and start dictating what i say and works normally.
I am not sure if this is mic problem or the google/assistant app's problem. For mic, i have given all required mic permission to the Google app.
I have a video of this, please have a look in the attachment and help me out. Thanks
same problem, mines was converted from chinese Rom to global from.
I have the same issue and its driving me crazy

Thank you that helped me resolve the issue.
Same issue on global European rom. I was crazy with this bug. Thank you so much for the solution. I disable accessibility services for "tasker" app and it work.
Another one who had the same issue. Thanks for the fix! For me was CCleaner!
Hi, I'm using BitWarden and I would like to keep accessibility enabled (it's very useful). Have you found a workaround to this problem?
