[Q] Odd Odin issue!! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried installing the new JB leaked firmware via Odin, and even though I get the green PASS, it reboots into my existing wanam rom.
Does anyone know why this is not working for me? Any other suggestions?
See screen shot...

Try an earlier version of Odin maybe ? (That's a real strange one, btw).

Yes I actually used Odin 1.85 version and got the same result.
The only thing I can think of is to try to flash to a generic stock ICS firmware and then try again, but there is no guarantee that it will work either.
Others on custom roms seem to not have an issue flashing to the new JB leaked firmware, so I really don't know what to do...

did you try clean cache, dalvik cache and a factory reset, it may reboot into jb rom.

No I haven't as yet, I did think about factory resetting before I flashed via Odin, but didn't really want to factory reset unless I was sure JB would work as I like how my phone is set up now.
But I'm at the stage now where I might try factory resetting anyway, I was just waiting for a CWM flashable version to be upped.
How important do you think it is to clean cache, dalvik cache?
I did clean cache, dalvik cache once before in CWM and got the sim locked error, which I finally fixed using the simunlock app, very frustrating for so long, so I'm very reluctant to ever clean cache, dalvik cache in CWM ever again...

Phone Will Not Boot Past Motorola Logo

I recently rooted my phone using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548
I tried flashing MIUI and ICS after doing full wipes, but when rebooting the phone, it won't go mast the Motorola logo where it says "Unlocked." Is there a way to fix this?

I always do that before I flash a rom. I've done it at least 5-6 times now as I try to reflash the roms.
Sorry, early morning brain fart!
What do you consider a full wipe?
How long are you leaving your phone rebooting after flashing the ROM on the initial first reboot?
You could try flashing a kernel after flashing the ROM. You shouldn't have to, but I would try flashing the appropriate kernel from Faux.
Try wiping cache and dalvic cache. After do a factory reset. Then flash the ROM twice! As in back to back without doing anything else.
Personally I would flash another Rom, Some like Nottach or Cm7.2 and see if it boots, if so then recharge the battery and then try fresh again doing the wipes like others have said.
I had issues before where my recovery wouldnt boot but reflash did and was able to redo things and all is well.
For MIUI you need a separate kernel I tried flashing before and was stuck too, then flashed a kernel and it worked (jokers v3 kernels work well)
I have just tried installing CM7 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257574
I made sure to do a wipe all data, cache, and dalvik cache. Then rebooted and waited for it go past the logo for 10-15 minutes (which it didn't).
This is the same process I go through for each rom, but it still doesn't work.

Stuck on boot screen

Hi guys,
I just flashed criskelo rom to my phone, but I tried to do a hard reset using the code (*2767....) and now my phone is stuck on the boot screen (SAMSUNG). I've waited a long time already, left it over night and nothing.
Also I tried to recover the back up I made with CWM, but I'm again stuck on boot screen...
Any ideas on what I can do??
Thanks
go to recovery, do a data reset and wipe cache..hope this helps..worked for me a few times.

Try either flashing a stock firmware through Odin, or go into recovery and format /system in addition to wiping data, cache and Dalvik, and install the ROM zip again.

OMG THX...
I just flashed a stock firmware through ODIN and it's ALIVE!! Thanks...
(before i flashed on ODIN I restarted my laptop and it was stuck on BOOT... its like a curse omg... i had to go to safe mode to make it work again...)
Its all working now thanks
EDIT: Well... i rooted the phone again, flashed the rom, but this time I tried to make the wipe cache and factory reset through the CWM (volup+home+power), but I got stuck on boot screen again.... Guess I'll have to stay with the rom but without wiping it

If I remember correctly, Criskelo ROM does not require you to wipe anything if you're coming from a stock ROM (it does everything through the install script). So just install it and live happily ever after
getting stuck on the boot screen is normal...i did twice already while flashing new rooms...usualy for forgeting to wipe. reflashing the stock rom always works.

Bootloop everytime....

Hi Everyone,
I keep getting a boot-loop after installing ANY custom ROM. I factory wipe, clear cache and dalvik cache, THEN i install the zip and gapps, then I factotry wipe, clear cache and dalvik cache AGAIN. It loads the boot screen, whether its CM10 or ParanoidAndroid, and then at the "welcome" screen, it reboots after 2 seconds. It just keeps looping.....any ideas?
try formatting system before flashing
just format system or cache and data as well? and do I do that before I wipe or after i wipe everything?
format system/data/cache, then flash
ok, I only did system and cache, and it still is rebooting constantly, i'll try it with formatting data.
which Rom are you trying to install?

Paranoid Android.
Wrong gapps version??
I tried doing it without gapps, I'm still getting a restart after everytime I get the lock screen on EVERY ROM i try to install....don't know what the problem is with my phone, it's happening with EVERY ROM. Is it because my baseband/firmware stuff isn't uniform?
Product Code: GT-I9300RWD(INU) (India i think)
PDA: I9300XXBLH1
Phone: I9300XXLFB
CSC: I9300ODDBLG2
Download the ROM AGAIN and this time download the OLDER version and keep your eyes on the download especially you are downloading from chrome. sometimes the problem is in the downloaded rom its self. and than make a factory Reset and then install the rom and than factory reset again than reboot the phone. Hope it works. I just did it yesterday. I also had boot loop. I tried to restore backup, install the newer ROM nothing worked. than I tried that and it worked....
what do you mean download again and download the older version? I've tried every combination of factory reset/wipe/dalvik cache/reset/install/reset/cache/dalvik, etc....

Download the ROM from internet again. this time try the older version of the ROM that you want to install.
EXAMPLE: I wanted to install Omega v26.1 and I went to boot loop. I tried everything to flash the newer version, I also tried to restore the nandroid backup. nothing worked. so I downloaded Omega V13 and than I did factory reset than I installed omega v13. Worked like charm.
I hope it will work for you too...

But my SGS2 is not a rooted phone. Is it necessary to get into recovery mood for that specific factory reset, I used android settings option of factory reset but still it has restarted
A clean wipe and fresh install usually solves the problem (unless its a ROM specific issue)
Use this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100558
Then reflash your JB OS.

He probably doesnt need this.
Just boot into recovery and perform a full wipe. You dont need cwm, just use the stock recovery.

Lennyz am bit new and noob to these things. Please guide me how to boot into recovery?? with a detailed procedure. How full wiping is different from factory reset?
If you are new, then read, search and learn on the forums. You will find plenty information about what the stock recovery is and what it does.
Full wiping can be the same as a factory reset. Full wipe usally stands for wipe data/factory reset.

I did factory reset many times, I even changed the firmware aswell but its still restarting :'(
Finally Decided to downgrade
Since I update my phone to jelly bean I am suffering from forced restarts. I wiped the data with factory reset and installed other firmwares as well. I posted this question on most of the forums and due to insufficient help and no proper solution to this now I have finally decided to go back to ICS or Ginger Bread because they were atleast stable.. :crying:
Though I loved the new Jelly Bean interface
[Disappointed]

Camera failed...

So, i have been happily using my sgs 3 for just less than a year and after having flashed quite a few roms, i decided that i should simply go back to stock android, which i did...
So i flashed my all time favorite (xxemg4, which is basically android 4.1.2) just like any other time...
But this time i decided that i should do a factory reset, which i did after i flashed the original rom, cwm recovery and boeffla kernel... So far so good. I wipe everything and proceed to boot the device. Everything is going according to plan. Then i decide that i want to take a selfie. But, my s3 doesnt want to... Camera failed, and camera app exits...
I told my self that its the first boot this is to be expected... So i rebooted... The result? Zip. Nada.
I wiped cache, the app's data, dalvik cache, nothing worked... what do i do now? Factory reset once again?
I even tried flashing a camera mod which i know that it works( i have tried it before, but this time nothing happened)
Help would be reaaaally appreciated

Did you flash the correct boeffla for stock roms?
Go to recovery delete /system /data /preload /cache and delvik cache. Use odin and reflash stock, factory reset then try from there.
It was definitely the correct kernel... now regarding the factory reset, i will need some time to get my backups up once again
On a side note if I try to use the camera, it makes some kind of sound, as if it is working, which it has never done before
