[Q] 2 Quick Questions: New Unlock Token and Global SIM? - HTC Rezound

So I bought a used Rezzy and it was shipped to me with the custom ROM on it. I want to relock and run the global RUU. I have the unlock token from my original phone but not one for this "new" phone. Do I have to be relocked to get one or can I get a token while the phone is unlocked? If I need to be relocked, can I run it before running the RUU?
I just don't want to get stuck on the RUU unable to get the unlock token as I've read several posts where the site was down when people wanted a token.
Global question: Once we have the global option on the phone, do we need to purchase a SIM at the location we travel to to use it? Not sure exactly how this global thing works.
TIA

I see no problem at least attempting to get the unlocktoken with an unlocked boot loader, it just searches for the lines of text, nothings being flashed or anything like that.. if it doesn't work you'll have to lock your bootloader and ten try again.. I personally havent had anybody ever have a problem getting it.. as for the ruu you need to be relocked to run it if your still s-on..

And for the global capabilities you'll need a Rom that's global capable and a sim from whatever network your trying to gain acces with , someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe the Verizon sim only operatesin CDMA..

Yeah, I didn't want to just try it without knowing just in case. Perhaps I will, or I'll just back everything up and run the damn RUU and get it over with! Yeah, I've been through all the unlocking, relocking, RUUing etc. in the past. That's why I was asking about the unlock token.
So, I buy a SIM when I get to another country so I can use a carrier there? Where do the minutes and data come from? Do you buy a prepaid thing for that country? I don't have any immediate plans to travel but I did have a dream that I was in France last night so....

None of those that you mentioned work's with 2.3.4 Sense 3.0 , we're going to see if the bootloader's unlocked / locked first & i think it's locked it's not even letting me get into recovery mode it just show's a picture .

Give me a link to unlock my bootloader & i would be glad to create / help with root & check this out while your doing that .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289119
create a account and just follow the instructions
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
It does not show that it is supported but it worked on my device
This will allow you to flash a custom recover (which we do not have yet) I beleive it does ot give true s-off (flasing radios and what not)

What do you mean ? I just want to unlock it , that way once we get root & recovery or once my bootloader's unlocked i could work on root & a ROM
after it is unlocked it Factory Data Resets the device. In other words just like you pulled it out of the box
When they track phone's they track the MIUI , they don't track the phone , only the MIUI which is on the phone .

Just wait. Revolutionary will unlock the bootloader as soon as phone is out. No point officially voiding the warranty when there will be an unofficial way.

That one was for the GoldCard, there is some instructions around for a ton of HTC devices, some real old and some pretty new. You guys should look in to it and maybe try to work something out!

I doubt that unlocking will void the warranty. The HTC warranty on the MyTouch 4G only covers physical problems, which are still covered no matter what ROM is installed. I suspect HTC has a pretty similar warranty on all their phones.

Juopunutbear S-OFF WARNING

Just wanted to to let all the people who are flashing there EVO 3D to boost and you do the Juopunutbear S-OFF method you will i repeat YOU WILL HAVE TO REFLASH IT TO BOOST MOBILE ask me how i know so dont do it if you can not flash it by yourself thanks for looking any questions just ask.
Yeah I experienced that when I did it Probably because it writes over your HBOOT, not 100% sure why it undoes the flash though, luckily I had flashed it myself anyway so it wasn't difficult to flash back. Funny enough one of the reasons I didn't do the downgrade to 1.4 method was because I didn't want to have to flash again
whats boost?
Boost Mobile, several people flash phones to Boost Mobile rather than using Sprint www.boostmobile.com
Have any of you installed the bootloader they offer after unlocking the bootloader?
If so, are you having issues with 3G?
I did and it Hands Free Activates and then 3G looks like its good, and then drops out comes back and then drops out entirely.

I don't think the bootloadr has anything to do with your issue.

Just backup your carrier settings! I wrote a tutorial on how to do it using QPST and QXDM. There's a link to it in closeone's HBOOT downgrader tool thread located stickied in the cdma dev section.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Possible to Root after taking OTA Update?

I recently had a 4g LTE tower put in near my house. It's amazing.
I no longer want to pay $75 a month for DSL internet that is 6mbs Download /1Mbs Upload, especially considering my phone now gets 20Mbs/5Mbs
So I have the OTA update (mistake).
What can I do to get Wifi Tether to work without subscription?
What can I do to possibly unlock my phone?
I would gladly donate to anyone that could help. You would be saving me a lot of money. Money which would be heading your way for what ever shenanigans you can muster.
Thanks

If you had supercid with 1's or 2's prior to the update yes it is possible. Otherwise I think you can still get s-off if you ruu back to the 1.0.0 version. Just unlocking the bootloader is def possible as I did it myself. Search the threads to find out how to unlock , if I find it I will post the link

You cannot RUU backwards, without s-off.
You cannot s-off without unlock.
You cannot unlock without superCID.
You cannot get superCID if you're on the OTA.

The reason you can't do anything on the ota is because you can't supercid on it. Everything else requires supercid. Ao if you have taken the ota and didn't do supercid beforehand then you are sol.

It would be great if folks could also add:
1) Did they do the OTA update prior to unlock?
2) Did they figure out a way to keep the apps that disappear after unlock?

It's a bootloader unlock, so you can root, and eventually put custom Roms on there.

I assume you choose all other supported models, and begin the process.

I had $200 cash in reserve for August when this phone comes out. Someone wanted to buy my LGOG
sold it for $325
so now I have the One and my upgrade still intact.

[Q] unlocking for the first time

So I bought an AT&T HTC One outright. =)
I unlocked the bootloader.. and tried to flash the recovery several times with clockwork. I couldn't get it to take (maybe because the recovery's i found where not actually for AT&T ?? )... this scared me so I found the stock AT&T recovery on this forum.. flashed that to be safe.. then re-locked the phone.
My questions is this.. If i chicken out and stay away from rooting..will my phone function correctly with AT&T OTA updates.. and Is there a differences between unlocking the bootloader, and unlocking the phone in general (so that you can use a T-Mobile SIM). I dont want to exchange my phone.. but if that's what i need to do then i need to do it soon.
The phone seems to run perfectly.. i never loaded any custom Roms or anything. i should be all set right ? the only diff is the "relocked" note in the boot screen. is there any verification i can do to make sure im all set for OTA updates ?
Thanks for helping a noob out.
You tried to flash a recovery with clockwork? Clockwork is a recovery!!
You also mention the word "recovery" like 10 times in the first paragraph.
Your post is hella confusing. I suggest you read up on what you want to do because you sound a bit confused this is probably why no one replied to you yet.
But I think I figured out you're asking. If you still stock and didn't flashed any ROM's, I see no reason why wouldn't you get an OTA. As long as you have a stock recovery along with the stock rom you should be fine

Btw Why did you choose to buy a AT&T phone to run on the T Mobile network?
From what I gather you wont be getting great speeds with that combination phone and network.
If you don't have the option to return the phone I suggest later this month you try AT&T's new prepaid plans that are comparable to T Mobile's plans and your phone will have much better data speeds since it will be running on AT&T's network.
