That's normal, 280 MB is total free ram for apps, the rest for OS it's self, and we can't increase it to 384 MB.

384MB is TOTAL RAM of Xperia X10. Cannot be full 384MB in your X10 Running Services RAM. It's divided into 256MB of RAM (displayed normally)..and remaining of 128MB (will not be displayed) is for graphic use. But kernel in RAM maximum can be only reached 288MB if i'm not mistaken, if switch modded kernels. Hope helps

RAM 512MB or 256MB?

After the whole issue with Venue Pros have only 256MB instead of quoted 512MB, can we have a confirmation one way or another for the Venue?

Its 512MB.
It is 512MB
but 200MB or so are freely available I think.
Use Elixir, you will see the stock total is 402.1MB, and I get 150-180MB available as average.
yea!!!it is 512MB!!
venue ram
Full capacity all the 512MB.
But that is actually assigned capacity is 402MB,
Applications due to the use of the average level of available RAM is about 150 ~ 200MB.
I think the ROM is 1GB and RAM 512.
512mb yiup

What do you exactly mean by "assigned capacity"?

On my LG P500 (which also has 512MB RAM), when I go to Settings > Applications > Running Services, I can see on the graphic underneath my screen: RAM: 98MB used, 294 MB free (this adds up to 392MB).
Then again, it's got a different chipset so less RAM could be in use by the graphics chip (MSM7227 with Adreno200 here).

Is there any hacked kernel to "steal" RAM from system?
Thanks.

JB ROMs are using 360 MB RAM. That is all we can get I think.

[Q] How much RAM do we really have?

Hi guys.
I read on the SE Xperia neo specs it comes with 512 MB RAM. However, my AnTuTu benchmark tools reads ~333MB. On ES Task Manager, including both used and unused RAM memory sums up to ~300.
I read somewhere this is because some of the RAM memory is the Adreno 205 GPU memory only.
Can anyone tell for sure?

~320MB (from my readings)
+
~128MB (for Android)
=
~450MB
That doesn't make 512MB...
My phone got about 40MB free ram under normal......
What's wrong with it ...
Too many widgets and other random stuff running in the background.

I noticed the same thing...
One part is taken by the GPU, another by Android itself.

100mb+ here most of the time
100-150 mb.
2/3 of our ram is eaten up by the system which sux !!

[Q] xperia s and ram : 1go or 697mo

hello,
i'm a new user of xperia s and i'm curious
And i would like to knows why there is only 697mo of ram available and no more ? (1go normally, and for example the galaxy s2 has 830mo available)
thanks for yours answers
The rest is allocated by the system.
some said it's for the gpu (as adreno 220 dont have dedicated ram), some said it's for the android os itself.
dunno for sure. but looking around i found:
sgs3: around 700 mB available ram
hox: around 900 mB available ram, but the free ram is about the same with sgs3 (or even less, bcause of sense ui)
so i think it's just the manufacturer interpretation for the used ram and free ram.
ok thanks a lot for quickly answers
Is there anyway to increase the ram availability like around 700-750Mb

Yes, AOSP should use a bit less RAM. Sony's skin is nicely optimized though.

ICS Available ram too low

Why my XPS total of available ram just 63X mb?
where is the another 300 mb ram?
This is allocated by the system and will be released dynamically as needed. Don't mess with RAM management, you'll only make it worse.
Even the latest mobiles now use only 1GB RAM in spite of quadcore CPU's... and all of them somehow allocating certain RAM for internal mobile system... what I'm trying to say is, it is normal...
