I don't use RootExplorer but free ES File Manager app.
There you have to enable root options in app settings, which will unmount system partition (as it is usually mounted read-only) and re-mount it with read/write access.
Only then you will be able to modify something (e.g. add, remove or change a file in /system/...).
Maybe RootExplorer app also has such a root option in its settings menu.
Good luck !

You can delete any file with root explorer if you are rooted.
You just need to mount the partition to r/w.
There is a small button to mount r/w in root explorer at the top but only if you granted root to it when starting it. Only after mounting r/w you will be able to delete the apk.

Stagefright?

Hey guys! Just wanna ask if Stagefright should be enabled? I'm not sure if mine is.Anyway to check and then disable/enable it?
Just disable it dud
But how do I disable it?
are you using void rom?
if yes, just check under the void\setting folder
if you find stagefright folder then it's enabled, if don't then it's not
to disabled it, just delete the folder and reboot
But I'm using megatron...
The setting is in the build.prop file. I just don't know what line exactly, but I'm sure it's there
All right I found it.Stagefright was indeed enabled.Now I just have to to find a way disable it! Anyone can help???
False instead of true?

If you have a text editor on your phone remount system partition rw, edit the file and remount it back to read only.
Another way would be pulling the build.prop through adb, edit it, remount the partition rw and push the build.prop back.
After you have modified the build.prop just reboot the phone.
Hope it helps.

Only the media.stagefright.enable-player is true.The others are false.
Make that false too, tht is the trouble.maker

I dunno about root explorer, I dont use it, but if it lets you remount rw and edit text files then I would say yes just press mount R\W and edit
Put media.strangefright.enable - false.
All right,I've done what you all told me.Is this right?

Personally I got all 4 disabled. Play around a bit and see what best suits your needs.
Save it. Reboot. You are done.

Download Android Market 3.3.12 here
If normal installation didn't work out well for you, use the method below.
Procedure to install via Root Explorer Method
1. Download the apk file from the above link to your sd card.
2. Now using Root explorer, go to /system/app
3. Mount the system to r/w.
4. Now search for Vending.apk & rename it to Vending.apk1
5. Copy the file you just downloded to /system/app & rename it to Vending.apk
6. Now press & hold the app and select Permissions
7. Select only the options given below. Now REBOOT & enjoy.....
Many thanks!! This version works great! It's nice to have my phone wait until I get home to my wi-fi for updates!
I seem to not understand how to install this. Its not an apk so I tried flashing it through CWR but that fails with a install aborted message. I've installed hundred of apps before but not sure if I got a bad download or if this needs a more advanced approach. Am I just suppose to copy/replace the files within the zip with Root Explorer?
Thanks

You will have to push it to system app using Root Explorer. First you will have to rename the existing Vending.apk to Vending_1.apk or Vending.bak. Then rename the new Market app to Vending.apk. Then reboot.

[Q] Assistance with nook tablet physical ''n'' button

I used the ota blocking root. The one with the video and all is well. I love my rooted Nikki and the smart minds of this community, so thanks to all. Moving on, I used the option in the computer. .bat file that gave the option of pressing the physical ''n" button key to back out to home. I don't like it because it doesn't allow me to pull up the option menus in some apps, which is important since the taskbar doesn't always show, like in emulators and I also miss the menu it pops up at home screen with the search etc.
So, i'm wondering if there is a way to return the "n" button to default without rerooting? Thanks to all who help.
Also, I can't open my keyboard setting to turn off the auto- correct feature. It's annoying. It force closes every time, even if I reboot.
This is the stock SystemUI, rename it to SystemUI.apk. Took it from the acclaim_update.zip
StockSystemUI.apk

Would I just rename and drop it in the root folder from my pc?

root folder? you mean to reroot? there is no need to reroot just rename the file copy it to your sdcard and then by suing ES file explorer or Root explorer Cut/move it to /system and paste it, then long press SystemUI.apk now if you used Root Explorer (not free) select permissions from the list and change it to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Once done long press it again but now pick change owner from the list (scroll down is at the end of the list) and change:
Owner: 0 - root
Group: 0 - root
If you used ES file explorer (free) then long press SystemUI.apk and select properties from the list, change permissions same as in the pic i posted above.
Once done that cut/move it to /system/app folder
REBOOT to finish

I will give it a try when I get some time to myself, thanks.

Can't find /system folder.

I looked through all my directories and tried searching using the default search on the phone and also using "MyFiles" and it doesn't bring up anything with /system/ at all. I also searched for SuperUser.apk and it doesn't bring up anything on that either. Am I missing something completely obvious? Because I know it shouldn't be this difficult to find a freaking directory. I am rooted, I know because I have SuperUser app and TiBu works perfectly. Just can't find these stupid files.
You need a 3rd party file explorer, like es file explorer or root explorer

I use Astro so im not too sure how MyFiles works but most defaults are set to open to your "/mnt/sdcard" (internal storage). You need to move Up directories to the parent folder until u reach just "/" which would have your /system. Find a button or at the top there might be a "..." folder you can click on to move to parent folder.

The MyFiles I'm referring to is 3rd party, but it does seem to start at the /sdcard directory.

Yea, it seems to be locked from going back any further than /sdcard.

I've spent at least like 15 hours on this forum in the last 3 days... It took me about 30 minutes of Googling and searching threads before I finally gave up and just decided to take the risk of looking like a dumba$$.

ES file explorer, root explorer or like nasapunk88 mentioned, astro would allow you to find /system
good luck
EDIT// glad it worked out for you

You're correct about My Files sort of. There is one that comes on the phone called "My Files" and that is the stock app. But there is one in the market called "MyFiles" that is 3rd party, but (no offense to the dev) just as useless as the stock version for me since it is locked down from getting into any directories above /sdcard.
If using ES file explorer, go to settings scroll down and select root.

Problem when instal FPSE!

Hi! Today, i want to install FPSE on my galaxy sii, vut i have an error, look:
{

}
That say "You don't have enought memory!" But, look at that screenshot:
I have more than 400mb free to install apps! Why i'm getting this error now? This happen only with FPSE. Anyone getting this? Please, help-me!

Same problem, but not got a answer myself. Did you use lucky patcher to remove the license check while trying to play games? This is when it went wrong for me. Anyone with any advice please.
Push FPSE apk to /data/app and chmod 644.
Not sure what that means but it's the most help I've had with the issue, I will look into it and thanks for the quick response.
I mean copy FPSE apk file to /data/app and set rw-r--r-- permissions (using Root Explorer of course)
I now have the app installed but it now force closes on me but thanks for your help as I have searched for help for days now.
Actually, look in /data/app for all FPSE files. There will likely be a .apk, and a .odex file. If there are, delete them both, and try installing again. The existence of the .odex file is what usually causes this message when you have plenty of memory.
