I'm normally not one to flame newbs but it HAS been explained ad nauseum and is easily found in ANY Desire HD rom thread within the first or second page. it doesn't even take a thorough search or drudging through a 50 plus page thread to find the answer to this question.

Please close - another thread that should not have been started wasting more bandwidth.
OP - Please take the time to search the forums first. Whilst XDA members are here to help it does get a bit frustrating when questions such as this are asked time and time again.

I really hate when a member who has alotta posts', always has something smart to say when a "newbie" asks a question. It's not necessary! While the post may be a waste of "space", the question is still relevant. Don't forget, "YOU" was once a newbie also!!! A simple answer could've ended this thread already. Many of us aren't as tech savvy as others, thats why forums like this was created. If it wasn't for "newbies" these forums wouldn't continue to exist. Show some respect to all, whether ur a "moderate" "senior member" or a "newbie". Thank you!
we had the same issue back in the G1 days when eclair was first ported. someone took the time to reverse engineer the camera driver to get it to work in eclair. either we get the source for it, or someone has to take good chunk of time to figure it out.

Just curious, is there some reason why a camera driver from another build won't work in the Desire HD ROM?
Ditto, I agree. Let's be accommodating and helpful.

Because its not a camera "App" issue. More of a driver issue.

What prevents the use of the camera driver from a working Android build? Is it not a ko module?
If it were that easy, dont you think darkstone would have just included in the first beta itself

No, people are not getting mad just because he asked a question. Its the fact that he did not do any research at all (Which is a huge rule on this site). The answer to this question has been answered in just about every Desire HD-2 thread. Also because this particular forum "HD2 Android Development" is not for Q&A. I've seen a thread about this exact question start like once a week, and it always gets moved.

[Q] Galaxy S3 Camera

Hey guys!
Is it possible to use the camera apk from galaxy S3 in our good ol' S2?
I saw the features of S3 and the camera app looks really good and functional..
Pull the apk off your SIII and find out.

Okay, consider this. Ask one of the owners of an SIII to pull the apk and framework off it for you.
Stop and think about it for a minute.
Got it yet?

There was no sarcasm in my post. I'm just trying to get you to think logically about what you're asking. You said you wanted to learn.
I admire & respect you for trying to get people to think logically/coherently around here before posting crap Oinky, which the OP seems to be doing a lot on here lately. He's got more than a few mates tho.
However, it's an exercise in futility. Most people here don't want the logical/simple that requires a bit of work on their part. They want the complex/convoluted that requires effort on the part of everyone but them :-/

I'm not as experienced in android as you are mate. I was asking if theoretically its possible. If you don't have anything useful to say regarding my question, please move along. And keep your wit to yourself.
1) I did say something 'useful' which was proportionate to the question.
2) No.
Thanks for playing.
Edit to add - Again, think for a moment. Different phone. Will require different firmware/framework; I.E SGS2 roms will not run on the SGS3, of course the camera apk for the S3 won't work on the S2. Do you see anyone on here running the camera apk from the Nexus on their S2 ?
As we've said, a few moments of logical thinking could have negated the need for this pointless thread.

So... You're asking a theoretical question about an .apk file from a phone that has yet to be commercially released, if it will work on an I9100?

See, now was that too hard? Thanks for explaining. I've learnt a thing or two from you.
I read about porting ROMs and was under the impression that the same applies for .apk
This wasn't pointless. At least for me.
No, it wasn't hard. And that's exactly the point several people have tried to illustrate for you, but it has gone way over your head. You just don't get it.
Now then, that's it for me. You're beginning to drag me down to your level & I know I've got no chance Vs your experience (some people reading this will understand where I'm coming from).

Google Now for stock ICS Rom?

Is it possible, someone ever tried, to put google now like our fellows in Xda, in our Stock Rom rooted? Is the voice works?
Thanks
No One?
Havent even tried ever but see here, maybe you find something

Search and read
Thread has been moved to Q&A section
OP, please do spend a little time searching before posting up a question. It does have a couple of benefits, it helps keep the forums more organized and less cluttered by not having multiple threads on the same topic, and most importantly you might learn something just by reading, might even learn something you didn't even know you needed to know, even if you don't find what you are looking for through a search, the odds of gaining some kind of information on this website is insanely high.
All that being said, it looks like one of our nice users has already helped you out Good luck!
Thanks,
DSB

[Solved] from Newb | What SGS3 do i have and

Hello,
i want to flash my Samsung device. It says at boot Samsung Galaxy S3 l9300 so i guess its an international with no branding.
But i am not sure and i wont do anything wrong. As far i could check for myself rooting+flashing is pretty easy i just want to make sure everything is good to go.
So please tell me how to check and thing.
Secondly, i dont ask you for the best rom/kernel but i ask you for some Roms with less preinstalled as possible but as much installed as needed.
e.g. its very subjectiv whats needed and what not so
i wont use google maps, video hub, mp3 hub and those social/sharing/web application.
The main goal why i want to flash my sgs3 is to maximize the battery as much as possible.
what i use daily:
Phone / E-mail / sms/mms / messenger / social networks (such as facebook, twitter but right now only fb) / Calendar / Contact / Weather / Alarm / Camera / file explorer / mp3 / cloudservice (such as dropbox) and but not so often this time but maybe more often in the future / news apps /
thats it. I really dont want to have all those ebooks/videohub/mp3/hub/flipboard and whatsoever. There are toooo much custom application i never would touch and some of them cant be deinstalled either.
Setting up the sgs3 with samsung and googlemail account should work properly...
Also i am not sure if i need the gmail application preinstalled. I want to use k-9 mail and i never touch gmail but i cant deinstall it.
I am unfortunately newb to it and i cant customize it myself that much but i am willing to install a less bloated Rom
Those are the two question:
What SGS3 do i have
What Rom could you suggest for as much as possible battery improvement/less consumption but still nice to have (i wont have an text base sgs3 like we know from linux itself not sure if that is even possible but i guess so xD)
Thank you for the time
regards
edit: here an screen from phone info

Please use google next time you have a question.
Anyway, doesn't "Modellnummer" tell you something?
If you are looking for a ROM less bloated browse through the forum and look for one yourself and see which one fits you better.

New to XDA also....sooooo.......you need to go to i9300 development and original development and read the Rom descriptions.
First you need to check XDA forum rules out.

What did i wrong? I posted in general becuz the forum rules say : if you are not sure where to post -> then post in general. Since i asked 2 different questions in once i wasnt that sure and thought the general section would be better.
Also i added the [Q] tag for question.
What else should i do?

Re: [Q] from Newb | What SGS3 do i have and
Ok, I'm going to be gentle on you......
Firstly, any help you get will be from people like me, ordinary users that have taken time to learn and then share knowledge.
The forum operates in various principals.
One of the fundamentals is that people read, read, read and learn...
Further to that using either Google or the forum search facility should preceed any posting of questions, as they have almost certainly been asked before.
Questions asking advice about Roms are nearly always considered as best Rom threads, which aren't allowed. The reasons for this are that every users needs are individual and also, from a developers point of view, it is no fun having your Rom compared to other people's Roms.
Just as an additional note, no one earns money from what they do here, it is just people sharing work they have done (in the same spirit as the principal of "open source"
So reread my first post to you, and follow the steps I advised, and you will become a good XDA user, as opposed to a bad one!

You are better to understand the basics before flashing or you may brick your phone .

SCV39 root (snapdragon)

anyone using this device found a way to root this on android pie?
or a custom rom maybe?
The stock firmware really sucks (full of carrier apps, no bixby voice)
it would really be nice flashing a custom rom for this device so it wouldn't feel like a mid-range samsung phone. LOL

Only a few models are, if your isn't one of them about the only news is don't expect one anytime soon (after you read the quoted portion on another thread asking about rooting I posted in another thread asking about rooting).
Currently no matter how many times it is asked the answer has been the same (so asking is rather pointless). Unfortunately one shouldn't expect that to change as it stands...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79378707&postcount=2
**Side note there should be a sticky/pinned thread at the top of the Q&A topic repeating the answer. Can be a small FAQ thread or something/anything. Figure would help new members for using better thread titles, the search feature of the board (and how to use it in a quick tutorial if necessary), when asking for help some pointers on how to explain the issue/problem and what kind of details they should give (but fail either by mistake, impatience or being unaware).
I also use this device. I have unlocked the bootloader, but until now can't find a way to root. Desperately want to, as too many bloatware in it
