HOX+ Boot Loop - HTC One X+

Hi All,
I've tried searching but to no avail. I got an HOX+ from ATT today and was excited to root it I got through rooting it no problem. But then I installed ClockworkMod Recovery. Now the phone wont boot at all. I can get in to fast boot and recovery. But it says no SD Card exists when I try to access the SD card. Other then that I get nothing but the HTC Logo. If anyone could help it would be great! At this point I wouldn't mind going back to stock.

More than likely you flashed a non-ATT recovery since there is not one out now for ATT. I did the same and swapped out this afternoon rather than wait for a HTC release.

Ok but that doesn't explain how you rooted with no custom recovery for AT&T available, in other words how did you flash SU zip? I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to know the answer to this question I'd be greatly appreciative to know how it was done so I can root the stock and be done with it for while until the kinks get worked out. **** I seen they started a thread to donate for a Dev to get the international HOX+ why was'nt an AT&T donate thread started so we can buy a dev one too? I'll chip in and I'm sure many others will too.

All I did was unlock the phone. Not sure of I got root or what. I just followed the instructions in the all in one. Phone asked me if I really wanted to unlock it I said yes. Then I tired flashing Clockwork. Based on all the reading I've done I'm almost positive I didn't root it. Just screwed my phone up. Going to have to go to ATT tomm and see what can be done.

He means he took it to AT&T and said it died on him so they gave him a new one. I did the same thing. As of right now, there is no RUU (ROM Update Utility) provided by AT&T. I emailed HTC and they said that they no-longer choose when that gets uploaded and it usually takes about 10 days for the approval process and upload of the RUU. It's up to AT&T so you could be waiting a while for it.

He never got that far. He flashed recovery and the phone never booted up because it can't mount the filesystem. Same issue as everyone else with an AT&T HOX+

You don't need to donate a AT&T one x. The devices are really not that different. Lloir with the one x we donated will be able to do everything he does for us for you at&t boys. If anything you guys should be grateful we donated one so you don't have to. Back on topic, you don't need a RUU, just the stock AT&T boot.img. Flash that and device will boot again.

AFAIK Lloir has nearly finished your recovery. It's just because you guys have a different kernel to us.

I'm running a version of CWM that he provided on my One X+ right now, but unfortunately it's useless at the moment since it can't mount /sdcard/... But it doesn't bork the phone either.

You need TWRP to fix your problem so whatever you do, don't remove if before you are up and running. It won't hurt you to keep it on your phone though.

[Q] Flashing Stock Recovery?

Hi all,
I just downloaded an OTA update but was not able to install it as I'm rooted with custom recovery. I've read that I can restore by running the correct RUU but I cannot find one for my region (HK CHT, 1.14.708.16). Is there another way to get the stock recovery and be able to do OTA updates?

I asked for it in another thread called, and someone posted it, but he was talking **** so I don't know if he was being genuine.

I flashed it and it reset my internal storage!
After flashing it I went into recovery to just check if TWRP was installed or not, and it went into recovery. I had to hold down the power to shut it off. It rebooted back into recover, I repeated to hold down the buttons and now I lost everything. Mind you I am using a stock rom, I just flashed TWRP so I could root the device. Could someone else verify this?
Edit: Supersu was still installed, This is a better situation however than bricking the phone due to not charging.
Thanks.
Stop showing people my link to a recovery when they are talking about OTA updates as to my knowledge AT&T has not released one which means they are not using the AT&T branded phone. This advice is dangerous, may break their phone. There are two different hardware versions of the phone as well as the carrier differences. You are not helping by doing this.
If flashing the recovery reset your data you did something wrong. That should not happen and has not happen the 12 times I have flashed it. Are you positive you are on the AT&T hardware version and did not hit factory reset while in hboot?

I replied in the other thread. IT IS possible I inadvertently hit factory reset while in Hboot as I had some trouble with it hanging in recovery (now that I think about it I may have held the vol down to long and then hit the power button without even realizing it). If this is the case then please disregard. And YES I am NOT using an int'l hox+ , and I have been flashing android devices (mostly Samsung) since the Magic. I have just not owned an HTC device in a long time so I am re-learning fastboot etc... Thanks for the factory recovery

If you have an international device any recovery from any international RUU will work on your device. Try extracting the recovery.img from a RUU rom.zip. or check dev section, im sure mike posted a stock recovery with his CWM. Finally check if the AIO root toolkit contains a stock recovery

Unlocked the bootloader through HTCdev today, and then rooted it. Was really easy.
Though I imagine since AT&T has said that the bootloader will eventually not be allowed to be unlocked, that it'll probably be nice to get it done sooner than later once you get your device.
HTC will block it per ATT instructions. Better unlock asap lol

I used SuperSU from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
There is a link for a flashable ZIP file that worked perfectly with the HTC One.
Whatever CWM recovery came with that toolkit in the international forums is what I used.
I believe technically, the international and AT&T One devices are the same, so almost anything in the international forum should also work with the AT&T One.

Why not root and unlock the bootloader? It's not like you can't put it back to stock. Then you'd be on the latest and greatest.

just got a warranty replacement droid dna from verizon

hey guys, i havent been keeping up with the scene and whats going on with the dna. i just got a warranty replacement for my droid dna which was unlocked & rooted.
i did it long ago, and back with the original dna were rooted. trying to root my new warranty one now but a bit confused as i read thru threads. can someone steer me in the right direction? i read somewhere that the new ones cannot be unlocked and rooted?
Go to Original Development, and look at the Moonshine thread. It should be the first one. It is for achieving S-Off.

Just install Superuser, or SuperSU from playstore. If that doesn't work you might need to flash a superuser file from recovery. It would be a .zip not apk.

Indeed there is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
but if you really dont feel comfortable with doing this stuff, by all means don't. Some things (S-off for instance, which is required to flash upgraded firmwares not specific to your carrier branded device) have a high potential to turn your new toy into a paperweight if done incorrectly. Just read up, follow the instructions to the letter, and come back here with questions. Most of the time someone will be nice enough to assist you

I do wanna root just so I can get rid of this app that's keeping my phone awake. I've read about the sunshine root. Some of the stuff I read is a bit confusing. On the website it says that the update won't require towelroot (is that the right term?) for me to be able to use sunshine. But in here it says that I need to root my device before using it.

You need to slow down, as it seems that you are rushing ahead with very little understanding of what you are doing. I recommend any newcomer (even experienced HTC users) to this phone spend at least a couple hours reading and learning before doing any mods to the phone. If a total n00b to Android, root, etc. then more time should be taken to research and learn. Reading includes the sticky threads, basic guides, and also my Index thread has a lot of information organized: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432
Sunshine is an s-off method, not root.
If you unlocked the bootloader, all you need to root is flash SU/SuperSU or a rooted ROM. S-off is not required for root.
Backing up the stock ROM, recovery, etc. is not required for the AT&T version, as you can RUU back to stock.
Also, AT&T (directly through them, not HTC) will only void your warranty for physical or water damage; not for mods.
I read some more and I rooted my phone already. Thanks for the link

Redpoint is 100% correct. If this all seems foreign to you, or anyone else for that matter, research, research then research some more! Before I do ANYTHING that I haven't done in the past (hell I have flashed many firmwares and it STILL scares me), I do alot of reading and see if its something I really want to do, plus it will help prevent me from coming back and saying "Halp, my phone is a brick now!". Once I have a basic understanding to it, then I go on

That's why I decided to root my phone because I've read enough to know the basics and I was successful. I'm reading on flashing custom Roms now and it seems fairly easy but I won't just flash a ROM without reading more about it. Thanks for the replies.

Personally I use ARHD 10.2, Its as close to stock as any other, but I have been using Mikes roms since my M7. In order to use it without any of the annoying boot bugs etc, you will have to flash a new firmware but that is one I would recommend, but also read up on firmware flashing and the steps to do it properly

That's what I've been doing. But I've been mostly just looking at what ROM I want. When I find the one I want then I'll start really reading about flashing Roms and everything related to it. So far I still love sense so I won't need to change it anytime soon.

It is not closest to stock out there, it is closest to stock EURO build out correct, but not closest to AT&T stock out...just sayin

dunno if its just EURO, but since ATT lags behind in updates, and Mike keeps his updated with whatever releases are out, its my preferred one to use
I like how all the bloat is removed, regardless if its a WWE or US based rom
There is a debloated ATT 4.4.3 build thats tailored to AT&T already in the AT&T section. International section is not only place ROMS are released these days...
