[Q] 920T - Chinese Model - Nokia Lumia 920

I'm in China at the moment and here they are selling a slightly different version of the 920 called the 920T, this model should come with added support for the Chinese TD-SCDMA technology and it even has a slightly faster chip. I'm thinking about buying the phone in China, considering it is much cheaper than in Europe, my only question is if I will be able to use the phone on the European network without problems?

[Q] LTE use in other countries

I really want to get my hands on an HDX. I could get one from amazon Germany - but they say that LTE functionality in Switzerland is not available at the moment.
Now I am wondering whether it is a Hardware or software issue?
In Switzerland we use the 800, 1800 and 2600MHz bands.
Can anyone help or has anyone actually bought a device in one country and successfully used LTE in another?
Cheerios.

Hi, I just came to canada and need to buy a smartphone. I don't want to engage in a contract as I will be leaving for Australia in 4 months time and then from there to Pakistan
I am confused about different flavours of Samsung devices and concerned if they will work at full capability in Australia (pakistan doesn't even have 3g yet!) , Like this S3 I747

or these two minis

Any input would be appreciated.
Also, is there a way to get the phone unlocked at a cheaper price ? I mean is there a software one can unlock with? I am sorry but this whole locked phone thing, it's pretty alien to me
If you're planning on country-hopping, buy an unlocked international model straight out if possible (ie. The I9300/I9305, not the I747). Canada, Australia and Pakistan will most likely all have different spectrum frequencies, so buying a Canadian model probably won't work on Australian or Pakistan mobile networks.
Australia in particular has slightly different devices (eg. I9305T, N7105T), probably to adjust to their frequency bands.

Lenovo S660 - can 3G 900MHz be enabled or is it HW?

I bought Lenovo S660 and it was advertised of having 900MHz support, most websites claim it does but there are some stores which only promise 2100MHz.
I can received the phone and noticed that it apparently only supports 2100MHz because 3G disappears when moving further from town central. Phones bought from my country have the support and stay in 3G.
Are there two versions of this phone and one of them is simply missing required hardware for 900MHz or can it be software unlocked? I have seen couple custom roms for this.

What is the difference between ALP-TL00 AND ALP-AL00 Variations?

is there any difference between them?
I was just about to post this very question.
AL00 is China Unicom. While TL00 is either China Telecom or China Mobile, not sure.
"The telecommunications industry in China is dominated by three state-run businesses: China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile. "
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_industry_in_China
If you are buying from China (i.e., from all re sellers), confirm all network bands are suitable to your country and make sure dual sim, dual 4g and other network issues are intact and not removed.
Also even though resellers give choice for international rom, im not sure if that device will receive OTA updates anymore as these phones are not international release versions and so because of difference in rom and model no. the OTA updates might no longer be received. So better to confirm before a purchase.

Why does a galaxy watch 4 of other region not support LTE functionality?

As per my understanding -
The hardware of the galaxy watch remains same whether it is purchased in one country or the other.
Samsung might have made some changes in the firmware which are region specific.
But, then LTE functionality (if enabled) is not expected to behave differently with respect to the region/country.
I am saying so because this is what we find in our smartphones. If my smartphone works in the home country then i expect it to work in a foreign country as well.
Then, why is it so that a LTE galaxy watch purchased in USA will not support mobile carriers in an Asian country?
Please correct, if my understanding is faulty.
It is akin to cars and international markets. For example, a car sold in Europe or USA (almost for sure) will have different SKUs around the world even if the base model is the same.
Another thing is that LTE smartwatches are still relatively scarce. So it would be that such devices, like smartphones(before internationalisation), are still locked to their respective regions. Samsung is then the culprit for this issue.
