Buying Samsung s3 U.S. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flew to Texas next week and wanted to know how much it costs about Samsung S3's new? And where can I buy it for the lowest price.

Getting it in at&t or some carriers would probably be cheaper

But about how much it costs $ 500?
Not through AT & T I need it to be UNLOCK

What are you looking for? None of the US GS3's are quad-core, Wolfson DAC, etc. They're OK, but audio is not in same league as international i-9300. You can get international i-9300 on Amazon, Ebay, Newegg.com, a few others. They are not "officially" sold in US, however. Only the carrier versions are official here.
I just bought an unlocked i-9300 for $519 at Newegg:

Other prices I've seen are higher, typically $550-$650.

Samsung Galaxy S II price and availability?

How much will SGS2 cost? When will it be available i stores in Europe?
Considering LG Optimus 2X or SGS2. Will of course depends on when SGS2 comes and how much it costs.
Edit:
04.03.2011: I've talked to Samsung Nordic, and they said that they expected the phone to be released in may.
Expansys have it priced up the 16GB model at £649.99 with a release date of April 18th:
Expansys.co.uk - Samsun Galaxy S II
But Handtec on the other hand display both a 16GB model and a 32GB model, the 16GB at £515.99 and the 32GB at £635.99, so I am assuming Expansys has incorrectly given the 32GB price to the 16GB model. Handtec have not released a date, but are taking pre-orders.
Handtec.co.uk - Samsung Galaxy S II 16GB
Handtec.co.uk - Samsung Galaxy S II 32GB
Pricey, but there is a lot of new, expensive tech in there (SAMOLED+ 4.3" screen, dual core CPU, 1GB RAM e.t.c) so I am not surprised. I personally am waiting for it to come out on contract, and although a couple of carriers have announced it (Three is the only one I remember), no one has announced dates or prices yet. Three have said it will be available on the One plan.
US Release?
Does anyone have any idea when it is coming the the US? On which carriers, how much, and when?????????????

i wouldn't wait for the USA release
i'll just buy it direct from Handtec.co.uk is a well trusted company
just like expensive... erhhh i mean expansives
I've ordered mine from Clove in the UK 440 pounds, since I don't have to pay VAT. Now the long wait until April/May...
Thanks l0st.prophet, i think now iam done comparing sgs2 and atrix.
I go for sgs2, handtec will probably get my money
Does anyone have an expectation when it will come to europe? Will it be released in Europe simultaneous?

they'l ship it to the us????? whats the with and without vat mean? (I know that vat is a tax, but do i have 2 pay it) basically which price will i be paying for the 16 gb from handtec and will they ship it 2 the us? will i be able to get android updates in the us if it is a uk phone? Will it have a carrier branding? (i no that its unlocked) will it be a stock touchwhiz 4.0 with no carrier crap?
last few times i purchased stuff online from UK i was charged the VAT even though they were not supposed to
i buy a lot of biking stuff online, and electronics
does anyone know any good korean retailers that ship these phones worldwide? (canada)
I hear the international sgs2 will work on bell/rogers/telus out of the box, that and the koreans seem to pay less for their gadgets.
i paid $500 canadian for the first sgs so paying £614 doesn't sound too appealing
Yes the galaxy s II will work on aT&t, rogers, etc.
It supports 850, 900, 1900 and 2100 MHZ HSDPA bands, which is sexy.
put one in my shopping cart at handtec.. just about to pull the button to order.. i am in the u.s.a showing no vat. 446.89 pounds with 2 day shipping to the u.s
i got the original galaxy s i had from them (no u.s. 3g unlike this one) and it worked fine and i sold it on ebay for about 5 bills.. not too bad loss.
pulled the trigger.. now the wait
Just confirmed purchase on handtec for the 16gb version...so excited. This should complement my samsung focus nicely
Engadget said it's supposed to be available this month. They said UK released date was leaked and is March 5th.
But who knows, maybe this is completely wrong. I hope not. It's now or never...literally. If it ain't coming out soon I have to choose something else.
Samsung hubs
THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! I live in the US and want to buy the Galaxy S II. Is there some store that I can buy it at for around $500 (like $600 max)??????? (THATS USD, NOT POUNDS!!!) I want to buy it unlocked and sim free. Any ideas????????????????????????
Also, if I buy the international version, then use it in the US, will ALL the hubs work? How will I receive updates if I'm in the US?

Same here. Forget the Atrix
Now I just need to come up with the funds to place an order. All these phones are getting expensive on my my poor student salary.
I have been trying to find some sort of verified info on availability over here in France, but could not find any, does anyone know anything about it ?
I am sure that Sammy is in the process of tying the knot with the like of SFR, Orange & co over it, and I have the feeling that it is going to take forever (at leat 2 months) before putting my greedy hands on one.
Merci de partager l'info si vous l'avez

It will probably cost $550 like the unsubsidized price of the T-mobile Vibrant at their store when it first came out. I don't think it will go over $600.

Where did you see March 5th as an ETA by the way? I have only seen April so far.
This version is Orion, Tegra version if it exists has a different model number (think it was i9103).

AT&T version now available online

Just a head's up... the AT&T version is now available for order online via AT&T's site. Pricing looks to be just as expected, $199 after instant $100 rebate for data plan sub - at least that's what it is on a Premier account.
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/samsung-galaxy-s2.jsp
Also on Amazon for $149
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax..._1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1317532857&sr=1-4
Thank you for this information.
Just picked mine up from Best Buy. They only got 5 just like all the other local Best Buys. Walmart and Target both have them online for $169 but none in store and all my local AT&T stores haven't got them and don't know when they will. Crazy...
I'm confused, if the battery it's the same than the international version then why is the phone thicker?
I was expecting a lower prize for the unlocked version, it's 600 $ more expensive than the international version
Got mine from radio shack they had 3.

I'm not sure but the AT&T battery has "Near Field Communication" I think there is NFC maybe that's why the phone is a little bit thicker?

[Q] Best phone to get for rooting(T-Mobile)

Galaxy S 4g broke today... To get a replacement would be $130 but if I'm paying that much I'd rather get another phone. Like the topic title, what's the best phone to get for rooting? My budget on a phone is $200 and I'd like to get a phone that is in active development on the xda forums.
Best phone for rooting is definitely the Galaxy Nexus. It is my understanding that (for U.S. customers) it can be purchased directly from the Play Store for a very reasonable price. Just make sure you get the T-Mobile (AWS) version.
Whether T-Mobile carries it as a subsidized phone I don't know.

Agreed, Nexus-series devices should certainly be the first choice if you're interesting in rooting and hacking and whatnot. The Galaxy Nexus is available straight from Google, though at $400 it may be a bit beyond your budget. There is no AWS version; the GSM version is pentaband (supporting HSDPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 bands) so it will work on any GSM carrier.
And no, the GSM Galaxy Nexus is not available at a subsidized price (or really at all) from T-Mobile.

AT&T $40 new phone w/o contract

So at&t is doing something where if you already have a phone and a plan and it is NOT an upgrade/contract extension - you can just buy a new phone from them for $40? Friends wife got a new iPhone 5s for $40... What's a good android to get if I like sgs2? What phone is getting a lot of modding attention and has great function/features I don't social network a lot I'd rather mod my phone a lot preferably with a battery over 3000 mAh like razor HD maxx (but that's not at&t) any ideas? So many new phone names but they seem... Indifferent. I don't like big round edged phones, the sgs2 has a nice slimness and tight corners

Head over to their site and try to configure that for yourself.
You can sign up for their out of contract service and pay them full price for a device,
OR
You can sign up for their out of contract service, and sign up for their "next AT&T" phone pricing (which is an ADDITIONAL monthly installment) and get an iphone for ~$40. Bottom line, You are paying more than the phone is worth no matter how you stack AT&T's chips.
AT&T is not giving away iphones for $40 outside of contract.
If you really want to stay with AT&T and have a well supported device, buy a nexus4 from swappa (~200), and grab their out-of-contract service. You could buy two of those for what you'll spend in monthly-installments for eighteen months with their "next" plan.
I know you don't like rounded devices, but the nexus android support is unparalleled, and if you're willing to wait, they are also super cost-effective. Beyond that, I'm not sure.
-sony devices are well supported, but AT&T doesn't seem to offer any.
-sIII is well supported, but is exynos, which is a tough bear on developers, so features are forfeited as a result, and it's aging. <<-AT&T's version, i747, is Qualcomm. The international version, i9300, is Exynos
-s4 is locked down rather well, so very limited support.
-HTC one? it's a clean, square, serious device, and there seem a decent number of 4.4 roms available therefore. http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/orig-development
If (when) this i777 of mine dies, I'll be going the nexus route ftw.
Whether n4 or n5 depends on the pricing at the time.
-happy shopping

For the record, the AT&T GS3 is not Exynos-based. It uses a Qualcomm SoC like the other North American GS3 variants.
unlikly that it will be that cheap.

I believe it is now standard in their new pricing scheme. However, if you count all the costs, it is really not a "deal" as mentioned earlier in this thread.
kinda thinking moto g + omnirom might be a good option.

Best price for S9+ in UK now?

Is the titanium grey S9+ 256GB at 869 pounds a good deal?
I am thinking of buying it. i have seen though in Amazon the same phone going for 789 pounds
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Mi...0048646&sr=8-1&keywords=s9+plus+dual+256&th=1
Should i go for that one?
Another relative question: In less than 3 weeks it will be the amazon prime day. Should i delay my purchase for then? Is it likely that there will be a discount or some promotion for the sim-free model?
Thank you!!
Anyone?

not much lesser than 799£. amazon UK has the 128 for £869.00 which i searched for , yes wherever you seen your price, it can be beat by your choice. I saw your amazon link, and yours is dual sim too. The USA doesn't have all the options as you may have soon. If you can spring it, jump on it. Of course the seller you chose hasnt had its first review yet. Be sure whoever the network supports all your needs first in relation to the device.
Thanks for your reply!
I live in UK...
What phone do you currently have? The reason I ask, is Samsung UK's trade-in program an option? I just traded in my S8+ for a £300 discount for the S9+ 256GB from Samsung direct, working out £629 outlay for the S9+.
No one will know for sure of course, but I doubt Prime Day will have any deals on a new flagship like the S9+.
I have a note Edge n915.... It s not listed in the phones that can be used in the trade in promo... I even emailed them since older phones are included and they told me that I can't trade it.
I will sell it though to one of the sites that you can sell your mobile. Some give 140 pounds for it.
