Favorite Podcast App? - HTC Rezound

I used to use Podkicker (free) and might again. I don't like that it saves files in a proprietary format though. Also, it didn't find some podcasts it should have, or rather it found them but for some reason couldn't do anything to load/play them.
What podcast apps do you guys like? Are there any that use mp3 files when you download the podcast?

I use beyondpod occasionally. Works for what I want. Not sure about the save format though.

I've tried most all except doggcatcher (since it has no trial and its expensive) and all my experiences have been pretty bad. And I just came from where using downcast was the best thing in the world. The only decent one is podkicker unfortunately. If something works better for you, let me know, I'm very interested

What type of audio files does it download?

BeyondPod for me. It downloads everything in original format, and the pro version can be set up with schedules and automatic syncing. The free version works fine (scheduled syncs and other pro features), and has a pro trial option.

Trying this one out. I like that this one saves as mp3. :good:
Also, I got a pop up that this is going to be on sale from 11/23- I think the 27th for $1.99, I think I saw that the regular price was $6.99 so I'll probably pay for pro at the sale price.

I like listening at a faster speed. Used to do that on my clix. Really helped get through a full days downloads in half the time.
I've been on Listen, but have also been looking for replacement.
Sent from my Rezound.

I use BeyondPod and I love it.
It purchased the pro upgrade about a year ago. There are a lot of options to customize as you need it. It is a pain to change the download location though. As stated earlier, it downloads the podcasts in their original format. I actually switched to BeyondPod when one of my podcasts that requires a username/password wouldn't work on the podcast apps I tried, and it worked on BeyondPod.
It does support podcast playback at different speeds, but does it through a third-party app called Presto ($4.99). The 5 bucks isn't worth it to me to give it a shot, so I don't know how well it works.
PS - In the BeyondPod settings, push the menu softkey to bring up the option to get to advanced settings.

Google Music Beta

Anyone here a part of it? I'm actually loving it right now. The fact that I don't really need to worry about sdcard space saves me. I can just stream my music to my phone since I always have an excellent wifi/4g signal. It can automatically copy your itunes/windows media/etc.. playlists and settings and this is a plus. What do you guys think?
I also love the service, but the app itself could use some work. it is a bit wonky.
Biggest pain was getting my 50gb music collection uploaded. Glaring issue is that I need to organize my music better.
Yeah I have It, but I think the app needs an overhaul.

I have been on Google Music Beta for about 2 months. The only problem is that it would not sync my iTunes acct. I contacted Google and they asked me to send the crash log (don't know why I didn't just send that with the initial email) but they have not yet gotten back to me. I have just about given up on Google Support as I have sent them 4 emails in the last month. It would be perfect if I could get this to work on the E3D.
I had the same issue but when I cleared data it began to work flawlessly.

I've been using it as well, but noticed that the Music Manager can be quite finicky with the uploads. There's definitely been many songs that haven't uploaded for no apparent reason.
also, i wish we could upload lossless (flac) and not have it converted to mp3.
other than that, i've been pretty happy with it.

I agree, i love the concept but the app could really use some work. I really like the native music player on the phone.
Also the album art is a joke. I now have Pitbull as the default album art for everything.

No it doesn't let you send out invites....you just gotta wait to get yours...it took me like two months and I know some people who got it in two weeks ...and they requested their invite much later than me.....
I like Google music but the Android app could use some work...better app optimization when scrolling through tracks, albums or artists.....right now it just lags when you scroll.....Also for some reason the tracks in some of my albums do not get sorted by lowest track number to highest .....
Other than that its great.
it's nice and it's growing on me, but here are my quirks
You aren't able to download your music. As far as I know this can only be done on your phone. It's nice that it's in the 'cloud'; however, I still need to maintain a copy on my computer if I need to transfer it to some other device or media that doesn't have the ability to connect to GMusic.
Better online sound quality. Over the phone it seems to sound much better than through a web browser on my pc.

One thing I noticed is that even if I have "Sync music" unchecked in my Accounts & Sync settings, the Google Music service will sometimes still start itself up without me ever opening the app. Happens about half the time I do a reboot.
I'm using the service as well and I really like it. On my original evo I had a issue with it constantly disconnecting from my gmail account. Now with the 3D I haven't seen that problem yet

Google Music
Sup guys, quick question, does anyone have Google music up and running completely on R.G. 2.1 or Virtuous Unity Sense ? I have the music manager set up on my laptop, I downloaded the app from the market, but when I go to Menu/settings/Sync, there is no option to sync music or is this an option at all ? I hope that I'm posting this in the right forum, thanks in advance for your help....
Thing I hate is sometimes for no reason the music manager will give me errors for music i'm trying to upload. Then a few days later I look at it when im about to upload something else and all of the errors that were there are gone and the songs have actually downloaded. That and the fact that sometimes it duplicates music.

I wish people would just post 1 or 2 apps, as huge lists with no explanations are kind of pointless.
With that said, I just got a GS2 and have been trying out some new apps I never bothered with on my Droid 1.
I'm using Plume for Twitter. It seems like the highest rated twitter client, and I can see why. It's really smooth and slick and has a pretty intuitive interface. I'm liking it a lot and see no reason to ever try another Twitter app.
Llama- Ever wanted to try tasker or Locale, or jealous of the Razr's 'smart actions' app, but didn't want to spend money on any of them? This is a free automatic settings manager and so far it seems really powerful. I'm just getting it set up today, so I don't know how well it works in practice, but it seems to be able to do anything the paid apps do if not more. I always wanted to see how one of these apps really worked but didn't want to pay 6 bucks for one like Tasker so I'd say this is worth trying out if you're looking for something like this.

Some of my favorite, less know apps:
MobiReader Pro: a picture OCR, done completely on your phone. Turns the text in the picture to a text document, where I then use...
CopyPaste Pro: to copy that text and move it to QuickOffice, and use Evernote, and bam! Document for my computer.
FourTracks Pro: for the mobile musician - it allows you to record four tracks much in the same way GarageBand allows you to, and using a couple other programs, I can mix, edit, and produce all on my phone.
ROMToolbox: amazing program. It combines many programs into one. Just look it up on Market. It's worth every penny.
WifiKill: a fun, trolling, but useful program. Kills any other devices connected to your wiring. So say your wife or children are using the internet, downloading movies and whatnot, you can use this app to cut them off, and get all that bandwidth back for yourself.
Finally, N64oid: a great N64 emulator. Nuff said.

zzzap.it
We have released zzzap.it out of private beta a couple of days ago. It's actually quite similar and allows you to send any file from your desktop's web browser to an Android phone. There's an optional Chrome browser plugin that resembles the Chrome-to-Phone functionality as well. No user accounts required. The file size is currently limited to 10 Megabytes.
Would be nice to get some initial feedback in case you want to try it out. Thanks!

[Q] Music Junk HELP!

Does anyone know where I can find the latest version of Music Junk? Mine just keeps saying "Network Error" and all the searches I have done are really old posts. Can someone help me please???
Looks like it might be gone for good since the Facebook and Twitter page has been pulled....
I've been wondering the same, but I guess it really is finally gone for good... which blows because it was the best app for downloading music, hands down.
After posting my last, I installed Music Junk 4.3 on my phone again and opened it immediately to try it out again. I searched for music and it actually worked. I downloaded a couple of songs and everything, but then it stopped working after trying another search. Not sure what this means, but hopefully something positive...
Can you post a link for 4.3? I couldn't find it anywhere. I found other versions, but not that one. Pretty Please?
I have this problem with 4.3 I also tried to uninstall & reinstall. I tried 4.2 as well with no luck. This is typical of them when they change versions, but I haven't seen a 4.4 version out there...

I did last night, randomly... decided to install it again and try it. The first search worked and I was able to download several songs. After that, no such luck. I've been getting network error ever since.
I remember long time back (HTC hero days) music junk used to have some files, that used to pull data from these music websites, that used to get outdated. hence, the new versions would have the new files and we would not get the network errors...
If we can get a developer to look into some recent music junk versions and look into the changes made, we might be able to get it working again.

I think it's a done deal, guys. Anytime the servers went offline & we waited on a new version,I was still able to download on mj ver3.0.that is the only version that would work all the time even when the newer current ones would come network error. Needless to say, 3 isn't working anymore.
No way 4.3 was working for me this month now i get network error why i love this app. Any one know if there is an update like 4.4 or am alternative app out there?
I'm using v 3.0.4, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The trick is i have to press search a few times, i get the "network error'' the first tries but eventually it loads the search page. I get the error far more times when im using the network than through wi fi. But once it goes through i click on the song and downloads on the first try.

[APP] GMusicFS

***NOTE: I take absolutely no credit for developing this app or supporting it. Flash at your own risk.
That being taken care of, most of you on this board know how much I love music and when I saw this posted on xda's news, I had to grab it and share it ASAP. Summed up, we have a storage issue without and external sdcard. This app allows all your music stored on Google Music to be mounted on a virtual hard drive on your sdcard. This allows a number of popular players to play all your music stored on the cloud as if its on your internal memory. I now have my N7 library full of over 5000 songs with Beats, DSPManager v2, and N7's EQ working in perfect harmony!!!
Just use the help tab within the app to get the settings right for whatever player you're going to be using. I'd donate to this guy right now if I could.

I'm not sure if it will work with stock music app. If there's a setting in there to tell it where to look for music and to force a refresh of the library, it might. I am sure that it does stream from Google Play, though. It just sets up a database the local player can read on a virtual hard drive. The music still comes from the cloud (Google Play), so you'll use up your 2gigs quickly streaming.
This made me think of the potential of this app. Once he gets the bugs squashed, I bet he can make it so you create say a "Music" folder on your Dropbox, Box, GDrive account and upload your music in there. He can make it read those files and create a database as well. This app has HUGE potential.

This app has HUGE potential.

bubbleguuum just posted!
Speaking of HTC devices, do not use GMusicFS with HTC device until I have found a fix for the slow scan issue.
This issue can make your Google Music daily quota go over limit, which will makes streaming impossible from any client until the quota is resetted (in less than 24h since it is a daily quota).
I have added this warning in the first post of this topic.

Yes, I am the unlucky one that brought that to his attention. My device hit its limit in less than 2 hours. so i only have pandora for any kind of streaming music for now.
after providing logs and testing later revisions of his app, he now has what he needs and is working on a way to reliably identify any device, specific to htc to where his new rule can be implemented

After the sync completed on mine, I noticed it was scanning, and stuck at 0% for a long time. It seemed strange, but thought I would let it finish. I went to look at the OT and saw he had posted that. I instantly stopped the scan, and will wait for the next revision.

yea i only have 1318 songs in my google music library and the first run through, it took 2hours to scan and got stuck on 80% ... then again on 5% then again on 67% ... all that scanning and requesting/accessing data from the google server has limited me out for the day.
according to websites :http://www.droid-life.com/2012/03/21/have-your-reached-a-streaming-limit-in-google-music-yet/
"We have been told that there is a daily streaming limit, but that it has been set so high that the majority of users will likely never hit it. "

I have no idea what the scan is for and it was taking forever, so I reboot at like 2%. It hasn't tried to sync since (or I just haven't checked recently if it has) and I haven't had an issue.

while mine scanned, it added the files to the music player. id check as it was at 5% and have x number of tracks ...check again when it was at 50% and have 10 times as many tracks.
just letting yall know. for us with HTC devices, he has fixed the issues of the slow scanning. we did some more testing and finally got me working with a test build. i think he is going to be updating the OP with this soon
scanned all 1300+ songs in 2 minutes 14 seconds (where it took over 2 hours yesterday) this was 'htc device specific' i did see others who had slow scanning issues as well.
Thanks for the update. I'm really looking forward to using this app.

0.9.3 beta is up, which addresses the HTC issue, thanks to JWhetstone02's help
I did get a full scan in this time (thanks J.) However, when I initiated a new music scan in N7 player, it FC'd. I'll mess with it later.
After the force crash I rebooted and music library was completely empty. I forced a scan for music within N7 and everything came back. All is good now.
