possible to disable volume keys? asus tf700 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey! here's the thing. my volume button is constantly pressing volume down, i believe that something is stuck underneath it. so i really want to disable them and use a wiget for volume control. The problem is that i haven't rooted my tab yet, and without functional volume buttons that might be hard? or am i wrong? or is there maybe a way to disable them without a root?

[Q] Hardware Media Buttons (Just a thought)

I'm not a developer and I have no intention of ever doing it, knowing whether it is possible or anything else. I was just thinking and wondering.
Since it was possible to make the hardware Camera hack.
Would it be possible to change the volume settings. For example, when the phone is locked that just pressing the up and down volume keys once only change the volume rather than holding them.
When the volume buttons would be held for more than 1-2 seconds it would possible change songs or something else, ect.
Wondering if this is possibe or not as to me, it would seem like a good idea.
Thoughts?

[Solved]Wake phone on volume keys

I know the Atrix and Photon are very similar, so has anyone tried this yet to wake the phone on the volume keys? My power button is getting annoying and would rather use the volume buttons. I'm not experienced enough to try this myself so hopefully someone can maybe get it working.

EDIT:
Found out that Widget Locker from the market will do it with the correct settings. here is the link;

Yes Yes Yes.. I too would like to see volume rocker power without custom rom. but for the mean time try Button Savior on the market. You have to be rooted though.

How to disable ring volume shortcut

I keep on messing up the ring volume when grabbing the phone in my pocket, because I inadvertently push the up/down vulme buttons and the power button at the same time. So for example I find the phone on mute without even realizing it... Is there a way to disable this shortcut?
Thanks
Jay

I've had the same issue.
There are a couple of apps on the market that are a bit finicky but will reset you volume after a change based upon a timeout (and a dialog box coming up). Personally the best 'fix' I found was to get a case with button cutouts; I know it's not really a fix but making the buttons a little harder to press makes a world of difference when pulling it out of my pocket.
Thanks! Could you suggest one of those apps?

[Q] Volume rocker as wake button - Tasker

Hey, I have a Nexus 4 and I want to use the volume rocker as the power button to wake the device when it's in sleep. That's because sometimes the volume rocker is more accessable to me than the wake/sleep button. I know the app for this is tasker. Now here is the basic plan:
If the screen is off + VOLR changes (up or down) >> Screen on.
My problem is with the function that checks if the Volume has changed. I tried several things but nothing worked.
Is my idea possible without a rooted device? Is my plan aiming at the right direction? Please help.
Thanks in advanced
Oren.
I would like to know if this is possible as well. I am stock rooted on my Nexus 4.

[Q] CM Volume Rocker Long Press Useless on Screen Off?

CM has this feature where you can use the volume rocker to skip tracks when the screen is off. I really dislike the feature so I have disabled it via settings. But now a volume rocker longpress does absolutely nothing when the screen is off. I would expect the volume to increase/decrease gradually when the volume rocker is long pressed. Whats the point of disabling one functionality without re-enabling the other!!
Anybody know the fix to this? Not sure if this problem is just with me, or with everyone on CM.
Thanks
