Ok thank you but I don't want a room because some rooms damage the camera and every time I'm trying to install one it brick my phone. is there any way to update without a room? Thanks

If you brick your phone, you can't use it. So, for the record, every single default ROM here makes your phone unusable?

That is not entirely true. You can relock your bootloader (ignore the security warning) and run the appropriate ruu exe from your computer to get back on stock. Including stock recovery and stock boot loader. You can then take the ota. Then you could use ramjets quick and easy guide( located in the general section) to getting unlocked again and even s-off if you wanted to. Just offering a another option.

First, it's ROM, not room. Second, only rom's in alpha stage have no camera. Pretty much 95% of the ICS roms out now have everything working, since ICS has been stock for a while now. And no, you won't brick your phone if you follow the directions on the rom thread. Most people on here flash different roms every few days and never brick their phones.

Again, DON'T do that. It will take you 5 times the amount of time to do that, and doing that method increased your chance of bricking three-fold. Just flash whatever rom you want, much easier and safer.

Can I assume you're phone is gsm? This gsm rom is a stock rooted romhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32911048
(Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )

ok im sorry ROM, ok ill try installing a Rom right now.
No, my phone is CDMA from spring flash to boostmobile.
can you get me a CDMA ROM... a good one? thank you for ur help

Don't flash that rom , it's only for gsm

We're not your slaves, I'm sure you are fully capable of reading on your own. Go to the CDMA dev section and find a rom. However, with as little knowledge as it seems you have, I would suggest just flashing a stock rom.

[Q] Revert to stock FROM ICS Rom?

Hey guys im running CleanRom ICS and my phone headjack dosen't work. I have to send it in to VZW and receive a new device.
Is there a tutorial or how can I completely revert to stock kernel, recovery, and stock GB?
I know there is an RUU for it but I am not sure if that will work.
If anyone could explain or if there is a tutorial to point me in the right direction for a novice, that would be great!
Thanks

The only way to do that from my understanding is RUU. That is what SBFing was to the droid. I do know that to RUU , you need to relock your phone. Did you back up the stock rom or the stock rooted rom ?
Either way, just go back to HTCDev and they explain how to relock your phone.
Download the RUU, after phone is locked I think you just have to plug in the phone to charge only and run the RUU exe. Must have HTC drivers installed obviously and possibly working adb , but since your rooted and running custom roms you probably are.
Once the RUU, is done you should be back to stock , unrooted !
so if i relock my phone it will automatically revert me back to GB?
No. But you need to relock it in order to run the RUU which will get you back to stock.

as far as i know, before locking the bootloader,
you might want to flash back to gb rom i think.

yeah...You need to be back to a GB kernel for sure. I thought the RUU is basically a ROM but not really sure how that works.

But I am trying it right now. I am flashing back to stock GB as we speak and going to test it.
So let me see if I understand (I read a few articles about this) I don't have to be rooted to flash this? What I'm wondering is if I do flash this without root and unlocked bootloader, how would I go about reverting back to Gingerbread if I wanted too?

In my observations you would be able to flash it fine without root. But in order to go back to GB you would need to unlock your hboot. You'll be able to unlock it after you flash.

im no expert by any means but if i had to guess you would have to unlock your bootloader then flash a custom recovery then modify your main ver of your phone like what this thread says http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526316
there is a easy flashable in recovery zip in i think post #4 of that fourm that might be easier than the tool in post #1 of the forum.
but you will probably want to wait for someone to answer who acually tested it or know for sure.

True. If he tried to go back to GB after flashing the ICS he would get the mainver error if he tried flashing a boot.img in hboot. If he used fastboot to flash the boot.img he would get no error.
So I'm running rooted stock with an unlocked bootloader at the moment. If I wanted to flash this, do I need to re-lock the bootloader?

Unlocked Evo 3d and ICS Update...when it arrives lol

Hi, i have unlocked my Evo 3D using HTCDEV.com. I was wondering if it will be ok and safe to do the ICS OTA update when it arrives? Also could someone please advise me on my next steps to root my Evo 3D so i can use custom roms etc. All i have managed to do is up to yet is unlock my handset using HTCDEV.com, but i am unsure what further steps i need to take to root my device as there are so many different view and topics on the subject and it all gets a little confusing as what to do next. My HBoot is 1.49.0018, and i really dont know what to do next, so could someone be so kind as to advice on what further steps are required.........Thank-you for any help offered.
You might already have done this but just to make sure.
Did you flash a recovery.img?
I wouldn't bother, there will undoubtedly be a pre-rooted, cwm flashable version available within a day of the update landing.

Don't know if it will update the hboot but I suggest you downgrade and s-off it, if there is any method available for gsm...
And to flash a ROM, you don't need to be rooted. Just flash a custom recovery.img like 4ext, twrp, cwm. Then flash any ROM that you like. Almost every ROM here comes with super user. So after flashing a custom ROM made by a Dev , you will be rooted. If you want to root your stock ROM and don't want to flash custom roms for now, just flash a custom recovery first, then go to recovery flash this zip if you want SuperSU by Chainfire----------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
OR
this one if you want Superuser by ChainsDD---->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312971
The second one might not work...
@iTzLOLtrain......I haven't flashed a recovery.img as of yet because i am unsure of the software to use buddy. If you could advise on which software you think is the best then i am more than keen to have a shot. This is my first time ever with android and i am really scared of 'bricking' my handset. I was under the impression if i wanted to install custom roms that i would have to root my device first?
@mnomaanw......Hi bud, i have tried the links you posted but i just get a 404 page not found error.........Cheers

Ahhhh, I remember my first time. Do an awful lot of searching and reading. Once you feel like you can't get anymore info on a subject, then try it. You may have an issue, which most people on here will help u with when ask. If you came from that fruity company, you should be very happy with what Mr. Android and his developers can do.

Installing ICS - Is this the right procedure?

Would this be the right procedure? I was reading the wiki and want to ask..
I would do the following...
(I am rooted; BulletProof 2.5.. Android 2.3.4 - Tmobile)
1) Follow this tutorial to unroot and get back to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27058110&postcount=44
2) Follow this tutorial to install ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26865752&postcount=27
3) AND...Then... I will be unrooted..
How would I root again on ICS?
So is this the right procedure??
and what would I do for (#3)?

You don't necessarily need to use my OTA tutorial if you're gonna restore to complete stock GB, then you can just download the file via the software update option on your phone and let it install the update itself, the guy above answered your final question already.

, go for it then. If you're on tmobile, there's a file that can be used as a PH85IMG to update instead, that may be a bit easier if the OTA is iffy.

Relocked is the same and when attempting s-off, stock rooted rom is a better call, it saves you the hassle that custom roms may cause.
I mean the MD5 sums fail on both PHP8img w/e name... and the nand backup to restore to original ginger garbage.. so I think it's because I have to relock my bootloader by doing OEM_lock or whatever the command is.
do I have to lock bootloader to go back to stock?
and also.. do I need to flash the original kernel?
come on.. someone answer me please... I will make a REALLY good tutorial noob proof for everyone else when I finish doing this.

I was also having problems with my downloads so I downloaded thru my phone. I also found that I had better luck downloading straight from football's account on file factory. You can find his account on stock roms collection page 5 snargaflab post where it says "here"
Hope this helps, as far as locking bootloader when s on I think you do have to lock bootloader. If nobody is helping I suggest you try it out.

Lock your bootloader via the fastboot oem lock command or use hasoon's tool to do it,
download this file here: http://d-h.st/3VD
Place that on your sd card and rename it PH85IMG do not place it in any folders, etc.
Reboot into hboot via the volume down/power button method, when your hboot finds the file, hit volume up to update, phone will reboot on it's own. You're on ICS.
Unlock your bootloader, install 4ext recovery via hasoon's tool and hit the Perm root ICS/GB option, follow all on screen instructions.
All done, official ICS and you're now rooted as well.
