NO app to SD!! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Been looking forward to seeing the reviews on the Verizon version of this phone. No more early adapter/tester for me.
Glad I waited before pre-ordering the 16gb version.
There is no app to SD with this phone! ALL apps reside in internal memory. Which works out to about 11gb available on this 16gb release.
I'm pretty sure it's a Jellybean thing.
Gonna' wait on the 32gb or 64gb models. Screw all this "Cloud" bs.
I'll make due with what I have for now...

Pretty sure there is no 32/64 gig option coming for the States...

You're probably right desantim. I think I'm just gonna' sit tight for awhile and see how this goes.
I'll be buying my next device for full price to keep my unlimited and ain't gonna jump the gun.

Obtaining root would allow us to remedy this issue. I am not concerned.

This. Already ordered a Sandisk Ultra 32GB card. I should be fine. Also unless you plan on getting a bunch of big games, you should be fine with 11GB anyways.

I don't think everyone uses external SD card and the nexus will come Gingerbread and get the fastest updates from the big G.
You want the nexus because it's new and just a hair better. It's the same reason everyone here wanted the g2 then mytouch 4g. It's "new" and "better". The vibrant has great hardware, nearly identical to the nexus, so you'd only be trading up for software and a slight facelift. Not worth it.
It's the new factor. You (and everyone else) will get over it in a month and be on to wanting whatever other new phone is out.

You're partially correct. But the primary reason that people are interested in the Nexus S is that its a "Nexus" branded; therefore, it will always have the latest version of Android in a timely fashion because it is maintained by Google.
I was considering buying one outright myself but the vibrant is so similar devs may be able to port everything to the vibrant within a couple days or weeks. Plus next year there will likely be dual core phones that come out that are going to be more attractive. I do admit having direct Google support would be great, but I'm going to wait and see what the devs do after it comes out. It's not like the phone is going to disappear from existence a month from now.

A facelift gone wrong IMO.
The lack of the SD card is bad with only 16g onboard. I came from a 32gb Iphone to the vibrant and quickly went out and bought a 16gb sd card to make up for the missing storage.
I doubt you will be able to.
First off, the Nexus S is only available at Best Buy or from Google.
I went to T-mobile last week and they told me that only Best Buy will have the phone in their stores.
I have a guy waiting to buy my Vibrant off me if I want to sell it... but the loss of SD card storage space, and the extra $230 I would have to pay has me balking.
I doubt I will get one.

Stores selling the 64gb version?

I'd like to get the One but I have to have the 64gb version. What stores are selling the 64gb such as Best Buy, RadioShack, or Walmart? I'd also love if it were maybe a little cheaper than the current $299 AT&T price

I'm definitely going to need the 64gb. I have around 40 gbs of music that I want kept locally on the device. I've used Google Music and think it's great, but I don't have the data to use it like I would like to. The 64gb is a must and I'm a bit weary about purchasing it online due to the defects some are reporting. Does anyone know if these defects are as abundant in the AT&T version of the phone as they are in the international? I looked at one at the AT&T store and it seemed to be perfect.

I don't think there are any abundant defects in any version. I have a 64GB from ATT and it's perfect, except for the soft buttons not lighting up most of the time but I think they all do that to some degree.
Don't forget the OTG as well. It works great right out of the box. I just moved about 20GB of movie files off the phone onto a flashdrive and it was so quick I was shocked. I wish I'd paid attention to how long it was, seemed like just a few minutes.

I'm fine with the soft keys not lighting up. In fact, I'd rather them be off all the time and I'll make them that way if possible. I just don't see how or why it's necessary and, in the dark, it's excessively annoying.

id steer clear of the SanDisk cards. my 64 gig constantly unmounted and remounted or sometimes never remounted on my s3..and now it's on my s4 too. I am doing an rma to get a replacement.. but i don't trust their cards anymore.

I personally have an old 8gb and 32gb SanDisk card, never had any problems using them in multiple phones and in my current S4.
I'm going to wait for prices to drop some more, it doesn't seem like I need more than 32gb at the moment for my needs, including music and movies.
i have a 64gb ultra, never had an issue. sandisk carries lifetime warranty on their cards, samsung is 1 year iirc.

Verizon to sell 32GB Samsung Galaxy S 4 starting June 29, pricing set at $299.99

http://www.phonedog.com/2013/06/28/verizon-to-sell-32gb-samsung-galaxy-s-4-starting-june-29-pricing-set-at-299-99/
From phone dog today:
"Looks like AT&T won't be the only U.S. carrier to offer a more capacious 32GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S 4. Verizon just announced that it will begin selling the 32GB Galaxy S 4 through its website on June 29, with orders expected to ship by July 3. Pricing for the 32GB Galaxy S 4 will be set at $299.99 with a two-year contract. One detail that the carrier doesn't mention is which color(s) the 32GB model will be available in.
Verizon currently sells the Galaxy S 4 with 16GB of built-in storage for $199.99 with a two-year commitment, and while that model comes with a microSD card slot so that users can add more memory if they'd like, having 16GB of additional built-in storage certainly couldn't hurt. Those 16 extra gigabytes will cost buyers an additional $100 over the base Galaxy S 4, but by adding a 64GB microSD card, the pricier model will also be able to reach a total of 96GB of memory. Sounds like a pretty nice option for anyone with a vast media library and a desire to carry it with them everywhere that they go.
Via Verizon Wireless"
Looks like I'll be calling my corporate rep on Monday!

$100 for 16gb
$50 for 64gb micro sd card.
Nemock, afaik the stock version doesn't allow apps & some app data off the internal data.
I guess that's important to those people. It is for me and I'll be taking advantage of the 32 gb + 64 gb

I think they planned on pricing the 16gb the same as the 32gb last year and take less of a hit on subsidized sales. More net profits for them and no pesky 32gb model to differentiate with. Sales have been good, but not what they expected.
Either that is why they felt compelled to release now, or the launch exclusivity with At&t was true.
Eff you verizon!! I HATE YOU!!
Why is it $100 diff for 2 year contracts, but only $50 for full price?!?!
Anyone hear when these might be in the stores (Verizon, Best Buy, etc.)?
I stopped by a VZ store this morning and the person I spoke with was clueless. Not convinced she even knew there is a 32GB version.
I was hoping to pick one up tomorrow or Friday. May have just been too optimistic.
Anyone heard whether the developer edition will be available in 32GB?
Was going to pick up a developer edition since I'm paying full price to keep unlimited data anyways, but now I might go with 32gb version instead as right now DE only has 16. 32gb DE would negate this trade-off...
Best Buy dude I spoke with that usually is accurate and BS free said that since they do not stock the AT&T 32GB version, they probably will not carry the Verizon version. Boo for me, since did the guaranteed buy back (worked great going from Razr to S3). I will still get the same trade-in credit, but not of course to directly offset a new phone. Guess I know where I will buy my PS4 from now in November
As far as a dev edition of the S4, it is 16GB and they usually do not have two model sizes. At least I have never noticed one before and Verizon is not managing that product- Samsung is. No apparent market reason for a 32GB device not designed for consumer market.
Added:
Local corporate store said no stores are planning to sell this and on line order only. You can order at a store, but still has to be delivered to your address. People have had issues keeping unlimited when ordering on line, so maybe best to order at a store, or call Verizon to order.

Note 3 vs Nexus 6

Hey all
I love my note 3 but I am intrigued by the google fi service. Its only available for the nexus 6. That got me looking at the nexus 6. It looks like a great device plus its almost pure google. Anyo e have experience with the nexus 6 and how it stacks up to the note 3? I have read some comparisons but I like real world experience.
Thanks!

that.
and for keeping my TB/TWRP backups safe. and extra ROMs if I need a change...
and I also have a fairly large music set, so an SD card helps keep my app space free. and for bringing large movie files with me, on a plane, to a friend's house, to work, etc.
frankly, as soon as I read "no SD card slot" in the otherwise GLOWING review, that's when I stopped caring.
it's too bad because it looks like a nice device.

I'm "sure" there's a good reason for that, but to me it makes no fuggin sense.
a) phones seem to be limited to 32 or (Woah, lookout) 64. ridiculous. RAM is cheap. no reason for this.
b) seeing as manufacturers don't want to go bigger for some reason, and SD cards are cheap, and files get bigger every year... why the ffff... heck would they want to limit our storage to those now-considered-small numbers?
I'm so itching to get away from Sammy, but... everything else seems so "meh".

The only thing Google says is it's safer. To me, they want you to buy more Google drive space. But I hate the cloud payment model. It should be a one time payment. I don't pay 50 bucks every month for a 64gb card, so why should I pay that for cloud. Anyways, we hijacked the thread. My bad op!

I have 2 lines both smart phones. 1400 min unlimited data and messaging. Out the door for 150/mnth. I was with verizon but the screwed me over with a warranty phone. They send me a phone with a cracked screen then said i broke it cause there was no way they send out a broken phone. So they charged me 300. I ported to sprint the next month after getting nowhere with verizon. Sprint also has been getting better coverage over the past year around me. [emoji1]
