Please write Reviews to increase sales and hence possibility of better "Support"
There's no doubt that this is an excellent Android Superphone and we all love it. I thought it will really help if we write reviews of this phone on few of the website so that people considering this phone will be comfortable in buying it.
I started with the following websites and will do more as I find them:
> AT&T (http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/lg/optimus-g-black.html#fbid=WWdQboRk1cO)
> Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/LG-Optimus-4G...8&qid=1353904051&sr=8-4&keywords=lg+optimus+g)
> Best Buy Mobile (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+Op...322506&skuId=6929501&cp=1&lp=2&contract_desc=)
I will encourage you folks, whoever can spare few minutes to write reviews on the given websites and others. This will increase sales of this phone and will encourage LG to provide better support.
Have fun with LGOG

No offense but LG or AT&T are not going to provide support... They never have since they all suck big time.
Only support will be from the awesome xda developers

I definitely agree with your point. But, having proper support from LG would not hurt. Lets hope that they will eventually provide drivers and may be unlock the bootloader officially like Motorola is doing. I know, I must be dreaming.

I am hoping too...I am assuming that Google will assist in this area (drivers and base) for the Nexus 4 that we can port over?

Eh, I posted a positive review on AT&T's website just to do it. I want to try and share the love! :good:

I will post some reviews tomorrow. I really love the speed of this phone and LG's UI is pretty good to go as far as manufacturers UIs go.

Yeah guys Once I decide to buy one (this vs. Nexus 4 for me right now, all about whether development picks up for this quickly) I will go crazy with reviews as well. This phone is far underrated.

I posted my review on all three sites, smart thread. It may help bring the phone's name out in the open a little more. Most of my friends have no idea what this phone is thanks to the terrible lack of advertising from LG and At&t

This is a good idea, but I'm still worried. I have the Canadian variant, and I held out to get it until I was sure it could be unlocked. But despite it being unlocked really quickly, and the beastly specs of the phone I'm surprised that there is still no further development. I'm remaining positive for the time being, and I'm keeping a close eye on all three LGOG forums. Doesn't help that there is already talk of the LGOG2 for the spring.

Great. Keep the reviews flowing and spread the word guys. This phone is underrated and by doing this we are helping ourselves.

Normally i would agree but right now LG is in a position to reinvent their smartphone reputation. And them going with google(n4) and this ridiculously overpowered phone they could make it happen. But the word would need to be spread by people that they arent selling a **** product anymore. Since their rep is so bad a couple mainstream ****ty reviews could tank any chance they have. If they want to keep a steady increase of good reviews they will need to keep the devices well supported.
Just my 2c.

Returned the Note :-/

Headed out on vacation for the next week, so had to make a decision before my 30 day window was up.
Basically, I went with a larger screen for media related reasons (video, images etc), and the black-crush issue became a deal breaker for now. I think I'll sit on my crappy old iphone 3g for another month or so and revisit the Note or perhaps the the HTC onex. Hopefully the note will see ICS before too long and it'll fix some of the graphics issue i've been noticing.
That being said, I've got a couple cases that I will no longer need, they can be viewed in my review post of them in the review section. If you'd like them let me know...i'd accept cost of shipping plus beer money

I thought the same thing when I saw this. That would be a trend I'd never support. Batteries get weaker with time and it would be very inconvenient to send it off to be replaced. I hope this is just a rumor.

OP & XDA Members:
I don't know if you'd even consider an unsubsidized device. But if you would, the international Note (GT-N7000) is a big improvement over the AT&T Note. This is an educated personal testimony, as I have owned both devices. As for battery issues (and this applies to both the N7000 & the I717), 99% of the issues I've encountered have been caused by software. Google Maps, certain kernels, and certain root-enabled apps can cause perpetual, long-lasting wakelocks when the device should be in deep sleep. This seriously impacts battery life. However, once these issues are addressed, the Note finds it's battery life on par with the iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S.
I'm not trying to get into an Exynos versus Snapdragon debate. I'm simply making observations about the two devices' respective benchmark results, and their real-world everyday performance. Whether these differences are a result of the change in SoC, or something else entirely, is a discussion best had in another thread. For the purposes of this thread though, the international Note would serve you much better, and offers a much larger development community (for the moment; anything can change).
As far as the One X is concerned, it's another prime example of AT&T neutering a device to ensure LTE compatibility. If you think this is an acceptable trade-off because the altered device allows you to connect to AT&T's LTE network, consider this. AT&T doesn't care if you get 40Mbps or 1Mbps downstream. Their goal is to get devices off of their congested HSPA(+) network and onto their LTE network. In the process, they can tout it as a major upgrade designed to give YOU better service. The truth is that this "upgrade" wasn't a decision made to compete with big red; it was a necessary move to relieve the stress on their HSPA(+) network before it collapsed.
So, next time you go shopping for a phone to use with good ole' Ma Bell, consider what the device can do for YOU... not them.
Thank you,
Ed

No one phone is perfect, I hace owned more than 20 phones In the past few years and every phone I have had all have had drawbacks. What would be the incentive for a carrier to put out a perfect device when they rely on the revenue from phone sales? And everyone is different so everyone has there on perception of what perfect is. Me I couldnt have an Iphone as my daily driver because for one the screen is too tiny and two the iphone makes simple things much harder like creating a ringtone. But what I like about the Iphone is the many apps it has that Andriod still doesnt like Family fued.

Good post. I own both and am keeping both. They have different strengths, one is updates and unlocked the other get access to the LTE network which is excellent in the area where I live. One other thing is you get 5GB on the LTE unlimited plan for $30 opposed to 3GB on the HSPA plan before throttling. I have not seen any battery issues on either.
I really like the looks and specs of the HTC One XL but no SD crd and the battery thing bother me. I think it is 16GB or it 32GB internal memory? I just do not get that...Just my .02 cents.

Really? Do you even own one? Maybe you just don't know how to use it. My note works just fine with Gingerbread. It will probably be better with ICS, but it's not a joke without it. Considering the fact that we'll have ICS within the next few months, it's hardly a deal breaker even if you somehow can't stand to use the phone without the newest version of Android.

Bootloader Unlock Petition- Please Retweet, sign, and send to LG

Retweet this https://twitter.com/xboxfanj/status/263413673643630593
And send this to all applicable LG support channels
Why are you alienating the development enthusiasts with your Optimus G? It has unparalleled hardware, but the locked bootloader makes it a tough sell for myself and the development enthusiasts at XDA, RootzWiki, and many more sites, and it also makes me unlikely to recommend it to my friends and family who go to me for advice on their technological purchases (and people who go to other development experts around the world). Samsung has unlocked bootloaders. Motorola and HTC have unlockable bootloaders. Now, it's time to step it up, LG and follow suit. I know you don't want me and millions of people like me to buy from your competitors. So fix it!
I really want to buy your Optimus G and have the beautiful design and amazing S4 Pro processor, but if I have to forfeit that to be able to use my phone how I would like, that's a sacrifice I am willing to make.
There are 1,310 people and counting who have signed this petition asking for an unlockable bootloader, so get your act together, LG.
http://www.change.org/petitions/lg-...opportunity-to-unlock-bootloader-in-lg-phones
This could propel you ahead of Samsung, Apple, and HTC, since your hardware at the moment is by far the best, but your software, updates, and developer support are lacking. An unlockable bootloader would end these complaints and make hundreds of thousands of people more likely to buy an Optimus G.
And don't forget to sign this petition: http://www.change.org/petitions/lg-...opportunity-to-unlock-bootloader-in-lg-phones
Together, we can make LG change.
Together, we can make the Optimus G a better phone.
Let's unite and make LG unlock those bootloaders, just as consumers have made HTC and Motorola do the same.
This too: https://twitter.com/xboxfanj/status/263415788218753024
And send that to their other channels as well. The more people that send this, the more likely it is that LG will acquiesce.
Here is the response I got from LG's email:
------Reply to Your Inquiry-------
The bootloader is locked, Jake, at the Carrier's request I'm afraid.
If you are looking for a Developer device, however, then you can look forward to a device that Google should be announcing sometime this week.
So sorry about the inconvenience this has caused, and I hope you have a great day!
That's BS since Sprint, my carrier, doesn't have any locked devices.
I told them that and haven't heard back yet.
Yes! we need this to get in the google search rankings, so android owners (non lg) can even participate. If anyone has some clout with any android news sites, etc, please flex that muscle!!

The minute after it DOES get unlocked, LG gets some of my money. Of course, the Nexus 4 is right around the corner, but I figure buying this model is the better long-term acquisition because of the massive upside.

Locked bootloader eh? That's a deal breaker.
And if they do unlock it eventually they'll probably impose some method of being able to tell it's been unlocked, like my Vivid's "relocked" text if you relock voiding any chance of a warranty claim if it breaks.
Bummer. Really figured this phone might be better than the nexus 4 since it's pretty much identical but has more storage, an sd and lte. If it was unlocked, you could pretty much make it a nexus with no compromises.
Also pretty pathetic it only has 4.03 on it. What's with manufacturers releasing new phones with outdated oses on it?

This is all besides the point, but this feature was promised to us so we should get what was promised and as far as i know misguiding people or misleading them to believe something is for sure just to make a sale is against the law, anyways that is what happened to me. Hopefully they are forced into this.
In the first place the international device was updated with the enact same thing (Jellybean 4.1.2 Update) only they did in fact receive multiwindow on their device. What is the problem? why is this such a complicated thing for them to do? if they did it for one device they should be able to do it with our American Version device. I think they get Customers hopes up, show them how the multitasking/multiwindow would perform on their device, and most importantly what exactly is multitasking and the benefit of the feature. Then you have numerous customers that are very interested and eager on having this feature, but personally i think they do it on purpose so they can force customers to buy a more expensive device that is mufti-window compatible. Just to get them into another phone that's more expensive and to get as much money out of them as quickly as they can, that's how i see it, why else would they have such a big issue putting it on our device? i'm sure it's not nearly as impossible as they are making it seem.

Show me where on Samsung's website, their official press release of the update or the product page that says we were to get multi-window.
Just because sites reported it but were wrong does not make it a promise from Samsung. SamMobile is not Samsing and doesn't report on their behalf.
So no false advertising is present. Samsung did not mis-represent nothing. It was 3rd party websites that made the error. So the claim against them would be thrown out on that alone.

When will XDA members understand the fact that we as a community are just a small percentage of their sales and they have no need to listen to our demands.
As a matter of fact I'm willing to bet, us as a community have cost manufactures more money than any other groups or the casual consumer.
Bricking phone, OCD exchange after exchanges cause of minor imperfections.
I'm willing to bet manufactures actually hate us

dont you think company knows about XDA? i'm pretty sure they do, Sony is NOTORIOUS with this, customer report a problem i.e screen and you will see their employees played it off like its normal or they dont see anything wrong with it.
You can usually tell who it is too.

Who at this company did you think is going to join this forum? They don't have the staff to be wasting time on here. Also, you'd be sending them right to the place where people talk about how to do things like root.

pretty sure these morons are laughing at you in their crap offices for buying their moronic products.
How about the double tap to wake ? Next big thing? I think they got that from xda. Had that on my evo lte about 5 months ago. Lol
Sony's developer used to come to XDA and help the XDA developers with Kernels and helping them in building CM by providing them with necessary drivers for EXMOR sensor etc. They used to come to XDA and post the alpha version of the firmware and help them identify the problems. It would be great if other company follow the same.
LG is here as well, just in secret, so you know!

I have been part of close, collaborative, manufacturer/consumer teamwork facilitated thru forums and online organizations before. The benefit to both parties is immense. Any company that would willingly forsake the opportunity to engage one-on-one with their most passionate and informed customers is fundamentally flawed.
That said, I can virtually guarantee a tech-centric company like LG has an entire department dedicated to data mining on the 'net.

Unbloating is easy. Root and uninstall the AT&T apps. Or freeze them.
As far as cooks- how about you start learning how to do it? I've taken my time as a short-order Android cook and let me tell you, nothing becomes more annoying than posts like this without an offer to help. You got an awesome, albeit proprietary, device. Proprietary devices ALWAYS see less development. :good:
Wow is no one even trying to develop anything for this junk phone?

Why don't you get off your complaining rear end and learn to develop.

I only posted that so I could see you cry like a little girl. No one asked you to develop anything for anyone. Please go away.

Look. If you want to be a bitter and sad little person, go do it somewhere else. This forum isn't an outlet for your petty self validation.

theire in the kitchen making food.
what is it you wan't to get out of this question in dev section?
it seems like no "rom maker" got this device, even if it's a smart one
Just wondering: since this device sells with at&t, is the bootloader locked in the pad phone x? Thanks.
samsung fanboy come here and cry lolzzz
While I have zero chef skills, with these going for $200 unlocked on ebay, maybe we could donate $20 a pop to get one for a potential chef. I'd even offer up some ProClip car mounts at my cost to help the cause. I won't complain since I know how time consuming it is and people already have their personal devices and usually one or two more they support. For $200 though, this seems like great piece of kit to have as a backup/toy to play with, especially with a real keyboard dock.
Just bought mine yesterday and hope to bring some development to this device.
