[APP] Not so well known launcher - Lightning launcher - Xperia Arc Themes and Apps

Hey guys,
I was looking for a very light and fast launcher for replacing my xperia home.
I came across this launcher which i never heard of and is not so well known.
I has a refreshing new concept of a home launcher and i thought i would share.
Introduction video
Lightning Launcher on Google play
Maybe you like it as much as i do
Cheers

I tried this launcher a few times and even followed the development on Facebook a while. I liked being able to place things anywhere but the zooming in and out drove me mad. I settled for SSlauncher which also allows me to place text and icons anywhere.

Fast, less RAM usage, Smooth and good looking? Check THIS

thanks for the app.. !!!

I am using this launcher. Really light and fast. I would recommend it for those who like spiffy apps.
Sent from my LT18i using xda app-developers app

I installed this Launcher a while back but never noticed the text only style, the Zune style,
I replaced the font with NXT Font from Xperia S and it looks awesome, and fast,
I always love simple, clean, functional interface.

[Q] QQ Launcher Lockscreen

First I want to say that I know nothing about programming in android etc.
Today I downloaded the QQ launcher and i fell in love with it's lockscreen,
than surprisingly i discovered that i can use it in ADW! (If QQ launcher is on),
lockscreen and launcher are in two processes, that's why it works i guess, again, this might me not that surprising to you advanced users, but is to me ;p
So my question is, can the lockscreen be separated from the launcher and made into .apk ??
If i was possible, that can someone do that!?
bump.
i'd like to know the same thing as well.
Yea me too looking for this
Any developer ready to take up the task please
Sorry,bump
The qq lockscreen is just so clean, intuitive, useful, and elegant vs those ugly paid for or ad cluttered ones out there
Btw it runs as a service separate from the launcher

Another bump. This lockscreen is awesome.
I agree. That charging animation is just beautiful! Although I'm stuck to GO Launcher EX and see no alternative as good, paid or free, I really like the QQ Lockscreen. Although most of it is exactly like the GO Locker app, that charging animation is just mint! I'd love to have that on WidgetLocker as a widget/theme on the lines of the ICS theme! A combination of that charge animation and the ICS lockscreen!
Someone please? I would absolutely make a donation for it!

ADW launcher or go launcher.
I don't like se launcher at all. The bottom bar is far too fat and it has no customizability
Mostly agreed, but i like the widget overview
it would be adw but you cant add the arc photo widget. so i think it be the se 2.3.4

If that's the one that allows you to share apps on fb, I agree! But not because of that, I don't even use that feature

launcher pro because
1) I like the scrolling calendar and facebook widgets (paid version only)
2) I like the ability to hide certain apps from the app folder
3) its very stable for me
I'm interested to see what features other launches have over it though as development on launcher pro seems to have slowed somewhat.
My faves are stock 2.3.4 and LP.
However i prefer LP for all it's themed HD icons and tweaks available.
Is there a way to theme icons for stock 2.3.4 ?
+1
I really can't live without the scrolling calendar i LPP. I've tried another scrolling calendar that worked on stock SE 2.3.4. But it was to ugly...
SE Stock have two major features I miss...
- 4x4 icons (I want 5x4)
- Can't customize shortcuts

GO launcher has a scrollable calendar i think with smooth page transitions so i liked that when i used a calendar.
Also, it has many tweaks to get it how you want, maybe an alternative to LP as it now seems that its a pretty dominant launcher
Fave Home Launcher
I've been using SPB Shell 3D for almost a year now so I would say its almost my perfect choice but I love the one from stock 2.3.4 too.
Currently, I use Launcher 7.
nemus launcher for me !
stock se 2.3 home and Nemus Launcher, because of speed and simplicity
Defo Sony 2.3.4 stock launcher. Looks good, simple to use, and really fast!

I have been playing around with my tab 10.1 for a while now, and considering to change the launcher for another one.
Is they're anyone around with a experience using adw ex?
Looks nice but would love to hear some users ...
I have tried to instal go launder ex, but Al lot plugins in the market show not compatible with your device....
Suggestions?

I am using adw ex pro and it works like a charm. So far no problem. The only thing is, when you try to move your apps from one place to another place on the screen, you might get confused
But it works so smooth and fast

yup
I'm using ADW Ex and I wouldn't go back to something else.
So fast and smooth that it makes you wondering why google can't get a better launcher. Maybe ICS will be the answer...
ADW EX is the best for our tab. Day and night difference when compared to stock launcher
I am in the same boat as everybody else and I agree with everything everybody has already said.
Think i Will buy this one then ... Thanks

Related question, does anyone have insight on free version of ADW? It seems to do most of the same stuff, just curious if there are features on the paid version that would be must-haves.
Differences between ADW.Launcher and ADWLauncher EX
ADWLauncher EX is based on the ADW.Launcher opensource core with a lot of new additions and improvements, like for example:
-5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
---3D Nexus One like application drawer
---2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the "old one" and a new fast and smooth one
---2 different Iphone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
-Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they're crazy!!!
-New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
-New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
-Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
-Lots of code improvements
-More, more more to come!!
thats straight from the market hope this helps
Thanks, I did read that on the market. I guess my question was more related to actual use and experience, but I guess I will just go ahead and try the free version, and if it doesn't do enough of what I want I will buy the pro version. I just didn't want to spend a lot of time working on it just to have to do it all over again if I upgrade.
I totally agree.. ADW EX is definitely the way to go here. I haven't found anything that even compares. It's good on my Droid X but when they ported it to the tablet they added so many nice touches!

Funny, the free version was available two days ago, but now says it is not compatible with my device...
Guess I'll cough up the $3.32 to check this out.
Bought this launcher and happy with it!
Thanks, have to put in some more time add there are a lot of options here!
Thanks!

I guess I'm alone in thinking that adw is trash but oh well. Prior to using trebuchet on the ics kang I used SPB shell 3d. Its 15$ but its completely worth it, imo. Go launcher isn't tablet ready yet and probably won't be for awhile. Or you just flash the ics kang and be done with it (and save the money)
I have both AdwEx and SPB Shell on my tab. I like adw way better. SPB shell looks good but I think it compromises productivity for the look.
Just purchased ADW EX after reading through this thread, liking it so far , very quick and responsive. I'll be sticking with it for a little while.
i use go launcher just because i can make folders in app drawer. i find i gets super cluttered when you have 20+ games all the **** Samsung apps and Google apps you suddenly start to see three pages of apps. i never find what i just downloaded if i want to try some new app/game, so its nice to putt all games in one folder all productivity apps in one etc.
so far non of the other launcher have this feautere. oh and iphone like uninstall, just hold down on an app and click red x to uninstall. brilliant.

Same here, bought adw but the ability to create folders in app drawer is a plus. If adw had this feature it would be amazing. That and the option to
to use the home soft button to open app drawer.

[Q] Smoothest Launcher for SGS II?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm still forced to use good old Launcher Pro on my SGS II. Reason being that it's the smoothest launcher I've tried - in a sense that it's the most responsive to swiping screens. Also, its calendar widget is very nice, same as in Go Launcher.
I admit I'm a bit over-sensitive to even slightest lag. Even a several millisecond delay when swiping screens or opening the app drawer pisses me off.
My personal experience:
Go Launcher Pro - best customization, worst response. Heavy and sluggish. After deep sleep, there's a huge delay when swiping screens, until screens are cached. Until they are, it feels slllllloooowwww. Same on my Nook Tablet - horrific delays after deep sleep.
TouchWiz launcher - pretty damn fast and responsive, but even TW 4.5 has very limited customization. Also, when using multiple widgets, I start noticing an FPS drop in swiping from widget-heavy screens. For example MIUI Clock (from market) - swiping to and from the screen with it will always have noticable frame-skip.
Zeam Launcher - very smooth, but same frame skip problem as TW launcher. Unfortunatelly, very little customization.
Launcher Pro - fastest, lag-free swiping. Sadly, an abandoned project and missing lots of customization that'd be nice for modern ROMs.
Nova Launcher for ICS - fast and smooth, but still FCs every once in a while, lack customization. It's in beta, obviously.
ADW Launcher - haven't tested it for a while, but I remember not-so-great swiping response and lacking customization that I wanted.
What's your experience like? What do you recommend?

Where do you get that LauncherPro is an abandoned project? Yeah, it hasn't been updated in quite some time (May 2011, I think), but the forums on their website looks active, and it's still available in the market? I'm just curious, as I use LP, and I'd hate to see development on it stop.

Development on it has stopped a long time ago. Last update was simply to add transition effects.
Francisco has moved on to music app and other things. His "representatives" (whatever that means) kept telling everyone on the forums that development is not dead, he simply hasn't touched the code for past, oh, year or so. So yeah. It's as dead as it gets.
Forums are active mostly because people are asking when development will continue, begging for updates.
I find ADW Launcher EX to be smooth, and its far better than normal ADW.

This, for some reason the Program monitor seems to do this whenever I use it, I can have the digital clock and accuweather widget running along with the google search bar and droidstats and its smooth. Use the program monitor widget and it starts to stutter
Go launcher EX is the one that i have fallen for. Fast and stable with alot of customization.

This. Been using GoEx for a couple of months now. Have tried other launchers (incl Touchwiz), but keep coming back to GoEx for the reasons Mariosraptor mentioned.
I flipflop between LPP and adw Ex. Given up GO, I found it sluggish and I hate the home icon on the dock.
adw>LPP for customisation, LPP>adw for speed. If LPP had more gesture actions and we could resize dock icons it'd be perfect for me, but development is deader than a dodo.
Haven't installed/used TW for 6 months.

I like ADW Launcher EX as well... But the thing I REALLY like about LPP over ADW is the scrollable dock, allowing for 10 more shortcuts. If ADW had that, I would move over in a heartbeat.
Was a launcher pro plus user but go launcher is what I prefer due to its widgets, the Facebook and twitter ones are useful for quick updates. Calendar widget is good as well.
I find the supported decant not as smooth as launcher pro but no big issue.
ADW ex is also good use it on my tablet and its fast and customisable.

In the dock you can have other five apps in go launche. How? Just make use of the gesture feature on every icon on dock. That is what i have done for a long time.

the only thing that annoys me with ADW EX is that you can not have folders in your app screens like go launcher. yes i know you can have them on your desktop but not really the point is it and makes the app screen full of apps...specially if you have over one hundred...or the feature is there and i do not know how to work it? any ideas from someone to correct me please

Fair enough - but then you have to remember what each of the icons' gestures launches. It won't display it, right? I still prefer the scrolling dock.
EDIT: also, in LPP, you can add gestures to each of the possible 15 icons in the deck as well. Leading to a whopping potential 30 shortcuts, just in the dock. I don't use the swipe gestures though; 15 total dock shortcuts suffices for me for now.
Personally, i prefer and use 360 Launcher from XDA, that is surely the most customizable, fast, smooth and easy to use launcher ever seen!

I would say that the Go Launcher is the most beautiful one in the matket but from time to time you have lags here and there when you turn on effects like sphere or cylinder. for smoothness you can go for ADW Launcher imo I dont like the aesthetics of Launcher pro at all...
Definitely Go Launcher for me. Highly customisable and zero lag.
Of you have lag on wakeup, maybe try a different kernel and governor etc.

[Suggestions] Good & useful widgets / apps

Hello
I've set up HUBS and my Prime, and I quite like that minimalistic look and overall cleanness of it, but they are a bit too empty at the moment.
You can see my homescreens here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24942541&postcount=566
I'm looking for some good widgets to put on here for some cool features.
I'd also be open for suggestions on particularly good apps that you simply cant live without
I'm using ADW Launcher EX, and as far as I've tried/seen/heard, scrollable widgets doesn't work when using ADW Launcher EX on ICS. (Very sad :/)
