Another one, just in case

What are the chances of making this available for the i9305? I know the partition and radio are different. However, if the partition part was adapted and the radio was removed from ultima rom (i.e. old radio remains on device), would this be doable?
I hate how my i9300 constantly is at almost full ram, wanna get the 2GB version. But the Dev support is minimal (at best)

If someone bought me one I'd do one for sure, but I can't afford one.
And unused RAM is wasted. Android uses as much RAM as possible on purpose. If you had enough apps on the LTE phone it would also try to run as much RAM as possible.

versie 4.2.1
when there come versie 4.1.2 from ultimarom

Can 4.2 camera app change the lock screen wallpaper now ?
I'm using this rom sence ver 4.1 , it's a great rom , but i found that if i use the 4.2 camera & gallery APP in the higher version of ULTIMA, i cant change my lockscreen wallpaer.
now 6.0 updat is coming ,can i change it by using 4.2 camera & gallery APP + AOSP lockscreen?
Many thanks!

Unfortunately not it's a common problem with the 4.2 galley at the moment. You should install the stock camera or Note II to change it

AROMA crashes
I haven't been able to get through the installer without my phone crashing.
First time coming from another rom, I tried to install UltimaROM 5.1. I performed a wipe data/factory reset and install zip from internal sd. Pick ultra wipe, siyah kernel etc and on the last step I press "Next>" and the phone crashes. I pull out the battery and reboot system, and voila UltimaROM is installed.
Second time I want to install UltimaROM 6.0. Perform wipe data/factory reset, and at the bloatware removal screen I scroll down only to cause a crash once again. I repeat the battery removal process go into the installer again, and it crashes again when I untick the Samsung Apps option. Third time it gets stuck at the last step again, and after I unplug the battery for the last time I have v6 installed.
Why did I have to go through all this trouble. Was I doing something wrong?

Try this!

With my experience, DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING in Ultima Aroma installer.
So how can i install ULTIMA if i came frome another rom? It's simple, just wipe data / cache / dalvic in Recovery, otherwise use a wipe script such as "Revolution rom super wipe script" in Recovery.
Hope that can help. :fingers-crossed:
---------- Post added at 09:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 PM ----------
And i aldo stucked during the istallation, or stucked when i chose the app / mod / theme in aroma(quit often in V5),so be paitient, finally it will work.
(how to prevent that happen efficiently? i always make my self tick the checkboxes only once druing the installation )

Well I've updated to the latest AROMA installer version and I wipe all the time using the installer. I even have an AROMA installer just for wiping.
What version of CWM are you using?

A bit of help with the AOSP messaging again. I love the way it looks and don't really like Samsungs messaging app because the text is rather large and not as smooth looking.
I have went into Google contacts on the website and changed the number of a friend of mine it looks similar to this +14045555555 is this the correct formatting? I did it that way because one of my contacts was set up that way and her messages would go into a thread, but others that I changed would still just pop up as new threads. Is there anything else that is required of me after I change the numbers?

Ok for me it's like this:
+447123456789
+44 = country code
07123456789 = phone number
Just strip out the leading 0 and put it on the country code

I want to test both the S3 and Note2 cameras side by side but I don't like to try to decompile, change package name and then recompile the app. So is there another way to do it (since I assume that they have same package name)? Or can someone tell me which they prefer from their own experience.

Messages are now threading!!!! I had set my contacts up the way of the working one while I awaited your response and went ahead and reflashed and my messages are threading. Thank you!!!!!
Also, is there anyway to make the icons smaller? I guess change the resolution is what i'm asking.
EDIT: I figured it out, I figured that post in the other thread about DPI must have been something about that. So I googled and came up with how to change the DPI and changed it to 240 and it's perfect. I will definitely tell about your rom.
THANKS!

I have been using ur rom for ages now never changed, your rom is awesome man. However, I flashed the latest version (v6.0) and for some reason it does not allow me to view the caller id even though I have them in my contacts which is a big problem for me. Did i do something wrong or is this a known issue.

Yes, most stuff works better in CWM6, to be honest

Hi!
First of all I gotta say thank you for an amazing rom. I've been using 5.1 for about a week and have'nt encounterd any bugs at all. However today I downloaded the 6.0 and experienced a few problems. While I was flashing 6.0 aroma launcher freezed at about 95% so I had to pull the battery and redo it again. 2nd time it worked. Everything in the rom seems to work just as weel as in 5.1 accept for the video player that FC everytime I try to watch a video clip. Tried rebooting etc. Does'nt help.
Anyways great job with the rom!

Yes, I've got a fix for that already. I'm just holding out to see if this contacts problem is a ROM issue or not. I'm thinking it isn't and must be something else but I want to make sure so I can fix all three in one patch. But there is a solution for it, don't worry

[Guide] How to flash Google Apps.

When I installed nAa's port recently published for our Mini Pro's, I noticed there was no way to use Market, register a Google account, or use any of the Google services that comes by default on most ROM's. This is because Google Apps are protected by copyright, so Cyanogen decided to wipe them from their official ROM. This can be easily solved by flashing them, and although this is very simple and easy, I found that there isn't much talking about this. Also, I saw there was some people asking and getting no answer, so I'd like to share this. Yes, flamers, even if it is REALLY easy or whatever you may say.
First of all, click this link. Here, you will always have the lastest version of the package, so don't worry about the dates. Then, scroll down and click the Download link, like this:

Note: Ignore the other downloads. EDIT: Unless you want other versions of Android. In that case, go to the bottom of this post.
You will get a file called "gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip". Well, just flash that (Install as any other Custom ROM -DON'T WIPE-) and then, when you turn on the phone, you will get the default setup where Google configures your account and download Google Apps such as Market.
Hope this can help someone c:
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Times goes on, and technology advances at insane ratios. Ice Cream Sandwich's CyanogenMod version is here, and so are its Google Apps. We, on the X10 Mini Pro community, have actually the option to install ports of this great Android mod on our phones thanks to the awesome developers we have. Some of us, like me, still decline to use CM9 or ICS ports (In my case, because of the awesome stability and every-day use of the Gingerbread ROMs out there), and thus you should know:
-If you are going to use an Ice Cream Sandwich(4.x) ROM, you should download the CyanogenMod 9 Google apps version.
-If not, if you still preffer to use a Gingerbread(2.3.x)-based environment, download the CyanogenMod 7 Google apps version, the one on the screenshot above on this post.
*I don't know your reasons, but if you would like to keep using an even earlier version, I'll list them for you:
Froyo(2.2) ROM, CyanogenMod 6 (Tiny version for our Mimmi -x10 Mini Pro-) is for you.
Eclair(2.1) is CyanogenMod 5 (Tiny version for Mimmi)
Donut (1.6) is CyanogenMod 4 (Tiny version for Mimmi)
Read ALL in nAa first post in MiniCM7 Rom thread. Look at instructions.

I think if we read carefully nAa said at his post we got no problem for gapps. From 1st flash until now I have no problem on it
Thanks!
There were android ics 4 apps too on the list. have you tried any of them? Just curious.

Lol, market xd Not all GApps are on that package, just the basic ones. Every other Google App you need, you should download it from the market individually.
i cant. The market app doesnt show gmail and through the "web browser" market on my pc it says my device is incompatible.

Describe in detail your problem so I can add it to the main thread c:
I have a bit of a n00b side question i'm afraid. I've flashed a ROM which I love but how do I selectively flash gapps, the Nexus 4 comes without the native calendar, email etc apps, but if I flash the latest gapps these are flashed back onto the device (obviously). What is the best approach get this ROM with the latest Google services apps and not AOSP apps, I want Chrome, Camera, Calendar etc. Should I just not flash gapps and use Titanium back and backup user + system apps or just flash the ROM and then download them from the play store?
Thank you nico, Now i understand why gapp exists!

I followed instructions from a youtube video and installed CyanogenMod 9 on my HTC explorer. Before that I rooted my phone and wiped out factory cache, dalvik cache etc. I also installed one of the gapps-ics-xxxxxxxx-signed.zip (do not remember the datestamp) in the recovery mode by selecting the zip file from mounted USB storage card. Now how should I get back my backed up apps/data and google play to install more ?
N.B.; I took back up using Titanium Backup prior to taking all these steps.
Thanks in advance for any help in this regard.

Thanks Nico,
Almost 2 years later this is still useful info. My first custom Rom install since honeycomb tablet and I had know idea how to flash gApps. Should have guessed from term "flash" that you use recovery but there seems to be a dearth of details. Your post was first google hit.
Sorry for the late responses, I had totally forgotten about this thread! I don't actually know if this will be useful for the ones who asked the questions, but anyways I'll answer them here in case someone else needs them.

Wow, didn't expected to get first place on Google haha Thanks for the appreciation. Yeah, it is not that hard, but I had little trouble doing it while I was new. It's important to understand not to wipe again to flash gapps also!

It depends on how you backed them up on Titanium. Maybe you did a full system backup or just app-per-app backup. If you did a full System backup, try to restore only Data, look into options, custom restore, something like that, there's probably an option there to do that -I usually don't use Titanium haha-. If you did the app-per-app, just look into the list of apps, go to the bottom of the list, and there should appear the apps you backed up, tap on them and restore them with their respective data.
BTW, for the next time, I suggest doing a backup from the Recovery menu, and then do a custom restore > restore Data. Data is where your personal stuff is saved, so no system files will be affected. It may pass down some bugs or troubles because of incompatibility between your backed up ROM and your new one, but normally that doesn't happen.

MD5 is just a file that makes sure your file is not corrupt. If you flashed a corrupt file, you could mess up your phone entirely without any chance to turn it back, so it is important, but you don't have to care about it because it gets checked by the phone itself.

I think you can get the APK for specific apps inside of the ZIP file that you download from Cyanogen, but I don't know if you can just install them right away. If you want to try, just extract the files, delete the APKs of the apps you don't want, and compile it again.
Even though, you actually HAVE to install Google Apps because you need, for example, the Play Store. There's no problem though with having both Google and Nexus apps (Which I think should be the same ones, being the Nexus like the "official" Google phones), I am pretty sure you can install all of them without getting original ones replaced and then deactivate the ones you don't want to use on the phone's Settings, in the Application Manager.
I hope my answers someday help someone. Regards, Nico.

Thank you for this post.
I will profit it to put a problem that I've since Honeycomb and continuous with ICS.
I've created a script to have the music in media library from sdcard2, that script was in init.d folder.
Since then I' m getting the error message:
"android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. please try again."
Even after deleting the script I get this error every time that tablet starts.
I thought that with ICS upgrade this get fixed, but no, I still have the problem.
I'm sorry in advance if this is wrong topic to post this, it's just that I need 10 posts to create threads and post replys in other topics and I don't wanna just bluntly spam in order to ask one questions.
I have a problem rooting my tablet :
Model number : Sony Tablet S
Android version : 4.0.3
Kernel version : 2.6.39.4 [email protected] #1
Build number : TISU0017700
I've followed this rooting guide and also used Automated ADB Driver Installer for Sony Tablet S and P.
Seems like everythings working :

In any case, I hope this problem can be solved and I have everything right. ( Was trying to root a device first time ) x_x

"Android version: 4.0.3" is the problem. To the best of my knowledge, at this time, a tablet that has already been updated to Android 4.0.3 cannot be rooted, nor can it be downgraded to a version of Android that can be rooted. You will need to wait until an exploit is discovered/created.

Try this,
Reboot into recovery goto Advanced then select Clear Dalvik Cache
If that still didn't do it, then you must reflash you Prerooted ICS,
Edit:
Do you still have some sort of file changed?,
if thats the case then i want to know which app contains the error you could try to reinstall the system app by changing its permissions etc,
with Romtoolbox for example. i will make backup try to upload the file you replace it wil the old one reinstall and then there should be a problem no more,
Also make shure you don't have any files left on you tablet wich contains changes,

In recovery mode I don't have "advanced" option.
Only 1. reboot, 2. update from zip and 3. factory reset.
edit: SOLVED
In Setting / applications / All
I clear data for program "Media Storage" and the error message stopped!

Thanks for letting us know, its good to hear that you solved your problem.
Doesn't come out of sleep
Several times a week, the tablet won't come out of sleep. Pressing the power button does nothing and I have to resort to using the reset button on the right side of the tablet. This started happening after ICS update.
Anybody else have this problem? Solutions?
yea i had that problem with HC, but maybe like 3 times since ive bought device. All i did was plug into pc and it turned on....has not happened in ics update, but it probably will.
Hey,
Just one question
Can we flash ICS by placing the zip in pendrive and connecting it to our Tablet?
Will the AIO tool find the zip?
Thanks
Nope, maby it can be possible but the recovery is not made to search in
external devices, only External SDCard inserted in the normal way,
Because if so you could simply search your PC within recovery
I know it can be used for a bootable image for PC but this won't work on Android (For now)
Who knows if some dev will change Recovery, and make it so, that he can find other devices as well.
I am new to all this. I successfully rooted the tablet without using AiO tool. But i have no idea where to proceed next. Can you dirext me to the appropriate forum/topic/post that can help me move forward.

Hello all,
Since ICS update, battery behaviour is very weird, it is dischargind very quickly, also when standby. It last one day and a hal whereas before it lasted at least 4 or 5 days... Am I the only one concerned by that problem ? Do you think it could be caused by something else than ICS update ?
Thank you all in advance...

Thank you all in advance...

Its most likely that you have some sort of app installed that drains your battery,
Do you use a Task killer?, that kills automatic?
Because this can cause battery drain aswell, since android has his own way of killing his apps there is no need to kill apps by an 3th-party appkiller.
You can check in your app settings, within running apps, which apps currently are
running, like a music player of movie player.
Also Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Auto Sync and GPS can use allot of energie.
i'm not shure how long my tablet runs if its in standby, but it is longer then yours.
No task killer running, I do that manually...
But I've uninstalled chrome beta and since last charge, 14 hours ago, tablet has lost 11%...
Kind of bizarre...

[Q] Omega ROM v33.2 issues

Firstly, can't post the same in the Omega forum as I don't have enough posts. So, am posting here.
Secondly, coming to the issues that I'm facing.
A bit of info first:
Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300
Omega ROM v33.2
Based on XXELK4 Android 4.1.2
Unmodified Kernel etc.
Prior to this I had the v32 and had no issues.
So, I have come across a few issues in this rom (i know its built on a test rom).
a) The brightness slider built into the pull down menu is missing (check this image)

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
[/IMG].
b) The keypad menu lags a lot.
c) The contacts/logs menu also takes a lot of time to load up (I don't have more than 250 contacts at the moment).
d) The gallery doesn't show the stored images or videos (be it on the internal/external memory, within the Pictures/DCIM/Videos folder).
e) I have MX player installed, and even that is not showing any videos in the menu (same as above, and I have to use a file explorer to play a video).
As I said before, in v32 I had none of the issues mentioned above. So, are these the shortcomings/issues with the ROM itself, or was this only a bad flash?
To add to the above, before installing the v33.2 rom, I had done a factory reset, clear cache/devlik cache, and not an update from the previous rom. The installed theme is Alexander theme, updated ver supporting Omega v33.2.
Any help regarding this would be really appreciated .

guys, still no reply. isn't there anyone here with the know-how to resolve this issue
ok. can someone at least tell me, whether it is possible to flash a previous ver 32 rom of omega over the newer v33? v33 is very unstable. freezes, crashing apps and slow response are its main drawbacks apart from those mentioned in the original post.
also, can this be done without the need to factory reset? reason for asking is i don't want to install apps etc. again, as i dont have the luxury of time at the moment because of work pressure.

v33.2 is very stable... been using it for a week and had cero problems, my battery lasts more than 55 hours, very fluid, no lag at all...
I suggest you take the time to wipe the device, I dont see another option

well, buddy, i did exactly that before i had installed v33.2. anyway, u didn't answer my question in the first place. same question for anyone with knowhow.
Is it possible to downgrade omega rom from v33.2 to v32, without the need for a factory reset?

I have similar issues with Omega 33.2. I have a lot of lags, even to press home button takes like 2 seconds, same with contacts and sometimes with some games.
I was reading in the developer section that maybe it is caused for use differents roms ( I was testing another roms but I always do a full wipe before to install a diferent rom).
I will try to do another full wipe and see what happen.
Moving from 32 to 33 was a full wipe process so the reverse holds true.
But I suggest you do a full wipe, cwm, mounts and storage. Format data, system and cache. That will erase everything.
However you go about it, you will have to do a proper full wipe and you're data will be erased. I suggest you do a proper full wipe and reflash 33.1 or 33.2 since many have reported the stability of those builds and they do have much to offer from 32.
One last suggestion, don't install that v6 supercharger since it constantly kills apps to preserve memory. It can cause phone, contact lags since these apps are booted out of memory.
Good luck.

Thnx for the reply buddy
Well I guess I've no choice but to do a clean wipe. So, I have to wait for a break from my work before I take up this task again. Will keep the supercharger in mind. That's a very good tip btw :good:.
Suggest Full wipe / cache / dalvik etc and Install V33 as V33.2 was laggy for me too, try installing with Siyah V1.8 and Ext to Sdcard MOD and it is mega fast!
Well, I did a full wipe and it looks better now. I did not install the V6 Supercharger.
Hope that it keeps smooth after install all my apps.
Thanks
I did not have any of the aforementioned problems. I only clear cache, dalvik, baterry status reset between Omega updates. I also let V6 Supercharger install every time. Phone is not laggy and I use it 99% of the time with Power Saving activated (CPU, Screen, turn off haptic).
I am lucky I guess.
P:S: I should mention that I never install bloatware (clock, dual clock, live screensavers, talkback, samsung **** and such)

[GENERAL] CyanogenMod 10.1 [NIGHTLY] by OldDroid General Disscussion

Well I saw a lot of posts, queries & questions in the Dev Thread (I often have many ).. which were simply SPAM and were deleted..
But these are real problems with probably simple solutions...
So felt like creating a general discussion thread for this Awesome ROM by OldDroid...
Hope this would help solving our minor non-dev issues...
The Dev Thread here
N ya..If I have helped you anyway, Thanking me wouldn't cost you anything....
Installed it last night, so far everything works, just battery worries me a bit, not sure if it hold a whole day...
Usage since this morning
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8z0x35a5720zva1/2013-01-28 14.21.46.png
I only listened to music, no wifi, no 3g, auto brightness
It will last long. Try to set up the lowest brightness level. Im using almost the same like you. about 1 h of music a day, sometimes when needed 2G/3G for a bit. It drains fast from 100% to 60-50% and than it last normally long. I charge my battery for 1-1,5 day. Is all right.
hey, thanks for starting the tread, I couldn't post in the dev theme, since I'm a new member.
Installed it last week and it's far from dissapointing, but obviously not flawless...but what OS is?
So far:
- battery drains faster than usual, but you're right, falls down fast, but doesn't drain completelly for a while, just like the level in my car
- a minor bug regarding the audio jack: of you're already playing music when plugging the headphones it goes on OK, if you pull it out it will pause, which is also OK, but if you start the music again it won't play on the rear speaker, but on the front (telephone) speaker...
How did you guys pimp it up to make the battery last longer and the UI smoother?
In RC0 release, there's no lockscreen, my home button can't be used.
Now i'm back to previous release...
I really love this rom but the latest release dissappoint me...

SMSC Issue
Hi! I've installed this ROM like 3 or 4 times last week, but yesterday's install went a little wrong: I have the SMSC Issue, so can't send SMS.
Alredy tried the solutions all around the web that I found, like restarting in a lot of situations, modificiation or addition of numbers or hexadecimal codes from the "hidden" menu (dialing *#*#4636#*#*, etc.), taking my sim into another android phone or any non-android phone to restore the setting, again restarting a lot, reinstalling this ROM (both nightly and RC0). Still can't send SMS.
So, after a lot of research and experiences, I found out that the issue is not related to my SIM Card (because the numbers are OK and they don't show errors, but the correct info .Quadruple checked). It is (I believe) related with this ROM in both releases. I know that because I installed Lewa OS and everything works fine. I didn´t have to check nothing because It just worked fine. I can send SMS in other ROMS but not in this one anymore.
Maybe It's something in the system files, something in RILs that doesn't read the info (the info It's there, not erased), any corrupted APK, maaaaybe a file (or files) in the SD card that was written and since I didn't deleted anything, It's corrupting.
At the moment of writing this post, I installed Wayland_Ace's ROM, and I still can´t send SMS. Then installed LewaOS again and I CAN send SMS again.
What could this problem be?

To install Gapps:
Put Gapps on thee root of your SD (ie not in a folder)
Boot into CWM
Check to make sure that /system, /data, / sdcard are mounted (if not, mount them)
Choose zip from sd
Select the gapps package
Flash it
Check to make sure that /system, /data, /sdcard are mounted (if not, mount them)
Reboot
Note, Google Maps, Gmail, etc. are not included in the slim Gapps built for the Ace, you have to manually install it from the Play Store (and push it to /system/app if you want)

If you already have the basic gapps package installed in your ROM, then installing Google Maps is not a big deal. Just download it from the Play Store!

Great ROM, poor performance
I've installed this ROM and it's great to see that our old ACE can stay updated with the most recent Android version. Therefore, a big thanks to developer effort.
However, I'm facing several performance problems on the phone. Almost any action on it takes up to 3 seconds to complete and typing is absolutely painful, with a lot of lags. Also, FC and reboots are constant. Do you have any tips to improve performance? I've also installed Link2SD to get more space using an ext2 partition, I'm not sure whether this relates with any performance issues.
Thanks!
Hi everyone, I just want to ask if is there any way to turn the volume warning off? When I want to listen to music it's kind of annoying.

Thanks, but it happens every time i restart the phone. I think I have to get used to it.
BTW: I downloaded the latest nightly build. The only changes I've seen so far are opening the quick settings using 2 fingers, and transparent notification panel. (and some Play Store issues) Have you guys notice any other changes so far?

Other change I noticed is the Trebuchet settings are not in settings but on homescreen after pressing menu button and other ringtones for alarm and such. Google play woirks flawlessly for me btw and everything else pretty much too. Never had any fc's or audio problems as well. Battery is not bad. It can last a day without problems. No tweaks or scripts. I only use the TW5 launcher (personal prefference) and the s2e flashable zip for cm10.1. Everything works like a charm. Thanks olddroid

When i use the svoice application it fc all the time. the wake up voice does not work. when i program it sometimes the app well force close others it lets me set the command but the phone well not wake up with command. This is a huge feature for me as im always doing something and not always able to have my phone in my hand. I have tried flashing diffrent svoice apks. tried fixing permisions not sure what else to try. Secondly The action memo instantly fc when i open it. i have tried wiping and clean install with v1 fixes 4 times now i have poured through the thread only link i saw with action memo listed was a dead link said files have been moved if anyone could shine some light on this for me i would appreciate it. I have checked all the permissions for quick memo and all apps have the same persmissions . I love the benifits of this rom and it seems to run very smooth after the update. this rom was done amazingly well has a ton of features that are very helpful i particularly like the feature where calls come up in a little window when im running an app. great to not be interrupted by a call. lastly and this is a minute thought is it possible to get my phone to register as a note 3 again not to worried about it if not just figured i would ask. I would suggest reflashing it. But do a clean install wipe your phone in twrp before flashing it. I havent had any issues with it other than spen and svoive also make sure you download and flash fix zip
Install
I tried to install this Rom, but for some reason it boot looped on me. I installed it how I have done all the Roms.
1. advanced wipe everything except sd card
2. formatted data
3. rebooted back in recovery
4. Flashed Rom
That is the correct way right?

Yes I found it by editing quick settings and adding it to the list. Otherwise it doesn't show up anywhere.
I'm trying to do a clean install and for some reason some of my old data keeps showing up, (for example the wall paper on the drop down backround).
I was wondering if anyone knows of a flashable zip to wipe everything WITHOUT formating internal or external data. I thought there was 1 for the Note 3 but I may be confused with something I seen when I had the old Note 2. I've tried doing a factory wipe along with advanced wipe (excluding format internal and external data)

are you using twrp? i've read that is 1 of the issues people have with it.
try flashing philz and do the wipe. you can always jump back to twrp afterwards.
under factory reset there is an option to use before flashing a new rom, 1 selection and it does all the wiping and formatting for you.
I tried wiping 5 times and rebooting and it worked. I may switch to Phiz. I forgot about that reco very. I liked it on the Note 2
Thanks

Just installed V4 and the rom is amazingly fast and smooth! I have a few questions
1 - Does HDMI out work?
2 - Is there a hotspot hack?
