[Q] frozen apps - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Is there a list of apps that can be disabled for this phone?

Don't we need root?
Not an iPhone.....

Just go through the list, its lets you do quite a few of them in app management

Can someone give me a list of what they froze, I think I got most of them but stuff like Music Hub, Music Player, Viewdini, VPN Client, Zappos I have no idea about

I have only removed the bloatware from one other phone (HTC incredible) and the process went like this:
1. Open root explore and go to system/app
2. Change from read/only to read/write
3. Select the apps from the system/app that I want to remove
4. Move those apps to a new folder that I named app.disabled in the system file.
Does this same process work the the Note 2?
Wyatt W.
Edit: nevermind, just used TB to freeze apps

Works well, especially as it requires only root and a good file manager [e.g. ES].. I had been dependent on tools like TB before your post. Thanks for the lesson.

How to...?

I have few questions, I don't know if they have been allready answered, I tried searching but with no luck....anyway:
1. Is it possible to extract installation files of app. I downloaded from Android market so I can store themn on PC,so I don't have to download them every time I hard reset my phone.
2. How to export/import Opera Mobile 10.1 bookmarks.
3. Is it possible to disable option in home screen "tap and hold" to add more widgets, because I often excedently keep messing up order of widgets in my pocket and even when I scrool with finger.
4. How to uninstall or at least delete icons in menu of preinstalled demo games and apps.

You can use Root Explorer and have your phone rooted so you can delete the apps you dont need or copy them from system to sdacard and of course their icon will disappear.
Search in forum about root and deleting apps.
Or look here... is easy to found if you look for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840356

Isn't titanium the same as root explorer?
Because I don't want to root my phone.
And thank you (who asked and who answered)

Uhmm... They r not the same, titanium is like an app manager and root explorer is a explorer, like astro. Yes, you can uninstall with titanium but for unintalling system apps or those that come by default you may need to be root. Havent tried to do it with titanium without been root but it think that you need to have your phone rooted. Just try it if it doesnt work you will have to root to delete those apps :S
And.. Why u dont whant to root?

1st.thank you for the explanation.

with rooted phone, to uninstall some DEMO SE apps. and games is it enough to go to /system/apps and delete .apk files that I don't need or is there some more files and folders that belong to those apps. I want to delete....
Yea, delete the apps from /system/app and restart your phone. After that go to Phone settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications, you will see some apps with default icons, and default names like "com.android.****" - uninstall them, and there you go. Nothing left. You can also start Titanium Backup, and clear app cache to be 100% sure that nothing is left in the memory.

[Q] How to convert User apps to System app?

I need to know how to convert User apps to System apps. I know Titanium Backup can do it but I don't want to pay 7 bucks for the pro version.
Do I just move the APK from the /data/app to /system/app?
I am on a deodexed ROM so no odex files to move.
If I convert these user apps to system apps will it raise the OOM value? That's what I am after really.
GO Launcher gets killed way to easily. And while I am at it, I what to move GO SMS and Miren Browser if this will work.
If you have problems with Go Launcher quitting, then try the options called "System persistent" and "Prevent Force Close" in the app settings if you haven't tried that.
Yea I have that selected. The thing is, my phone doesn't have alot of memory. I have about 120 MB of ram with all apps closed and only about 40 MB free till android kills apps. So only really have about 80mb.

Friend see this app, can move to system, is good, see the oficial thread in samdroid

Once you move the apk to /system/app, remember to set the permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot. I'm not sure if this will change the oom value or not, but I think it does. If it doesn't work, try V6 Supercharger & apply the bulletproof launcher. It may help with other memory issues as well. You can also "bulletproof" other apps, but I'm not quite sure how as I haven't played with those options.

maybe you have to generate the .odex files for those new system apps, you moved to system!
like this:
start your terminal emulator and type:
to change in the right directory
cd /system/app
use root rights with su and generate the data
su
dexopt-wrapper Vending.apk Vending.odex
or
dexopt-wrapper YouTube.apk YouTube.odex
and dont forget to set the read write permissions the right way
no reboot and wipe the dalvik cache!
For those not converted apps, how did you convert them?
.. maybe really try to move them not with /system/app mover, but by copy pasting them in a file explorer.

Stock apps reinstalling after reboot?

My NT is using indirect's root and I had the stock apps removed. Every time I reboot, pandora, netflix, and hulu plus always show back up after I uninstall them. Any clue why they come back after a reboot? My netflix app always asks for an update and I have two copies of pandora on there.
you have to first go to root--->system---->app find the app and delete.
then uninstall
then reboot
(may need to change permissions to delete the crap)
I had this same issue, and one of the best ways to prevent it is before trying to delete/uninstall theme, is to go into the stock app manager and archive everything, this unregistered the flag that says they should be there on the device at all from B&N's perspective, and ensures they won't just suddenly appear again. I had the same issue with Netflix continually reverting to B&N's version instead of the newest version.

how do you archive everything? by the stock app manager i'm assuming you mean the menu where it lists all your apps...
market--->es file explorer
install
open---->top right( star for favs) click. THen select the phone object thing. (/) is under mine
root will open up
click system(should be before vendor folder)
click on App folder(before Bin folder)
select app---> change permissions so you can delete
after delete uninstall that app(which you deleted)
reboot and it should be gone

[Q] Joyn App Help

So I noticed an app called Joyn in my Applications Manager which I have not downloaded. This app doesn't appear in my app drawer. I had a quick search around and found that Joyn is an app that enhances voice quality and allows wifi calls and chats. My S3 is not the 4G version however which leaves me a little confused. What is this app used?
It's a rubbish Samsung app
Found it on my S3 too after trying to hunt down what was causing my phone to hang. But no way to remove it.

An app to look at files and delete. File explorer, root explorer, solid explorer, etc. Browse to system/apps find the apk and delete. An alternative is to use adb and commands.

They are putting to much rubbish on the phone that no one is using, there
must be a section somewhere so you can download the applications
if you want.

I forgot to mention the rom cleaner, you can use it with recovery. I think it is in the original android dev section, you would have to search. Anyway, the cleaner has a list of apps to remove, plus you can customize it too remove other apps or not remove apps it pre-selects.
If you ever find you have deleted an app you need just extract it from the firmware you flashed.

Delete system/pre-installed apps on a rooted device

Hi,
I'd like to know how to safely delete system or ROM pre-installed applications that don't offer an "Uninstall" option. I am rooted and running 5.0.2 on a Nexus 6. I know I could do this with Titanium or other similar apps but my point is to not install a specific app just for deleting apps if I can find the correct path/file from Root Explorer and remove it myself.
Thanks

from my experience the best that you can do is to use root explorer and goto system/app or system/priv-app and delete folder-app you do not need, then goto data/dalvik-cache, search for apk name and delete also program *.dex, so this is a clean method, make a reboot for clearing apk data !
It's safer to rename the app instead of deleting it... "freezing" apps often just add ".fro" to the app's name (whatever.apk.fro, for example) to keep it from appearing in your app launcher or loading. If anything goes wrong because of the "missing" app, you can easily restore it.
