Moving from stock 3.1 rooted - which rom is the most stable for everyday use ? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I want to upgrade my p7500 3G with new rom.
now I have 3.1 rooted only.
I want it to be as stable as possible because of everyday use.
Can you suggest me the most stable rom to do this job ?
I have htc desire so i know the regular stuff about android (backup...) but may be there are critical difference that i should know before i start flash custom rom ?
my bootloader is p7500xxkg3
this is a wifi - 3G version.
thank you for helping
Lior

Read before you flash anything. CM9 or CM10 would be my vote.

CM 10 11/29 nightly rocks. Far smoother and faster than stock and everything works.

I can't find CM10 from 29/11.
From what I know, nightly is not stable version or do I think wrong because I used to this word from Desire forums.
How do I start after I make a TB ? Do I need to update to 3.2 via OTA first ?

So, after upgrading to 3.2 via Kies, I downloaded official ICS from sammobile and installed it. Rooted again and for now everything seems to be fine. Just needed to place the icons again on home screens.

Hi If you are looking for a solid Jellybean (4.1.2) ROM you can find the Cyanogenmod 10 Rom download.cyanogenmod.org (I'm assuming you have the standard WiFi Galaxy tab which isdesignated p4wifi at cyanogenmod). Don't let the 'nightly put you off - at this stage of the game its extremely stable and definitely less flakey than Samsungs ICS release.
I took the plunge a week or two ago and have no regrets - best thing I ever did on this tablet.
Additonally once installed you will have access to regular OTA updates which is a brillliant feature
Don't forget Samsung have already stated that there will be no upgrades beyond ICS for this tablet

I have the P7500 model that is Wifi + 3G.

p4 is cyanogenmod codename for the P7500 model (get.cm/?device=p4). Mines the P7510 i.e. p4wifi

AOKP
The AOKP ROM (android 4.1.2) is great 8

Any of roms has a working flash? In 3.1 version I could watch online movies and other stuff but now I can't do it.

flash support was taken out of JB, so if you want to use flash you'll have to find a work around. I know there is one, I've seen it in the forums.

I am using JellyBeanROM ICS V7 and must say, all necessary things are working just fine. Definitely a good daily driver. Using Yoda 2.4 Kernel with it.
No issues so far, going good. :good:

JandyCane Port (proper Google Play Support), Fast, stable (so far) tablet mode

Hello everyone! I was here at work in the nursing home doing absolutely nothing and decided to try and port the Kindle Fire Jandycane JB 4.1 rom over to our tablet. I worked meticulously and was able to get the port to work and it seems rather stable except for our kernel limitations. I do not however get the updater script edited properly so a couple of features specific to the UI on the rom do not function but it is a nice alternative to the CM10 rom and it works fairly well. I especially like the baked in file browser and theme support! If anyone would like to add anything to make this rom better, PM me. We have a great community here and we all cant wait until the CM10 rom is as smooth as butter! I build this rom for fun and unfortunately I cannot provide any support since i dont really know what I am doing This rom is hosted on Mediafire and will only be available for thirty days as of 7/29. If a couple things get fixed such as proper mic support and location services, then maybe someone could host it on Goo-im. Thanks and I hope you like. P.S. Use Jelly Bean gapps and go check out the original authors page at xda developers kindle fire jandycane.
This is the link to the file. http://www.mediafire.com/?a3dzbc21v0tyfcd

Here are some UI pics. The rom is set to tablet mode which is the default with Jandycane. The other pic is of the baked in filebrowser. I believe this rom also has root access yea!

Everything seemed to work fine. Liked the home screen layout. Switched back to miui. Still had random reboot and blank screen issue. I know this is because of the kernel. When thoes issues get fixed this will definitely be the rom I would go to. Thanks!

looking good
Well, i have just installed this, and it seems to be as good, if not slightly quicker, than the other JB rom on the site. to be honest, its just niced to actually see a new rom pop up. im not dissing anyone obviously, but, i (still) have a htc desire, and the rom choice on xda is staggering, so, ive been hoping a few more devs/roms will start appearing!
good work so far, not had one prob with it so far an hour in

Will be giving this a run over the weekend, I'll be stuck at work with hopefully not much to do.. I have been looking forward to seeing more devs pick up on the Nook Tab, surprised that the Kindle has so much more following given it doesnt have the SD card expandability of the Nooks
Well, the Kindle Fire has a pretty-much finished kernel, while ours still has it's holes in it. More developers should arrive when problems are fixed.

This port was quick and dirty. I will be more thorough once the 3.0 kernel is fixed. In the meantime i am thinking of porting over another Kindle fire rom based on 2.3. Any suggestions?
Just one tip: Anything you port that's 2.3, use our CM7 as the base.

Isn't this 4.1 based?
Sent via moon rays...
No, I'm talking about his next port. He said it was Android 2.3 based.
Ive been using this for over a day now, only had 2 or 3 reboots, so, love it. Well done again. Both the ics rom and other jb rom reboot too much for me for some reason.
Another problem ive noticed, is that whenever I do a nandroid of anything other than cm7, thwy always either have md5 mismatch, or they just boot loop. This rom did as well, so I'm just sticking with this for the minute!

Really worth updating to 4.1?

I recently got myself nexus 7 which has 4.1.2 and doesnt have any flash support but i installed flash and im using firefox with it. The performance of flash is still isnt great and some times crashes . Have tried different browsers but still the same issue.
I personally use flash quiet alot .. does the crashing issue exist on s3 4.1 update aswell?
Can some one with the new update shed some light please
Because atm ics is doing just fine for me .
Thanks

Updating to 4.1 is a pretty good advantage.. that way you get updated to most of the things.. anytime, android will abandon ICS soon like how they abandoned GB </3
hahahaah
Of coarse its worth it, always.. unless the update is a buggy as hell release but, for the most part- it only gets better

Is there a patch for Bluetooth Controllers (5.0)

I want to use bluetooth controllers for gaming (Ps3 & wiimote), as well as using using a Bluetooth enabled dumbphone with the GP5. I am going to root my device, but I don't know if I want to install custom roms. Is there a simple fix for the Bluetooth protocols?
No one is going to respond or reply. A lot of unhelpful people round here. Trust me I have asked for help a few time and only once has some one gave me a hand.

Alright well on all Galaxy devices pre-ICS how do you fix the BT protocols? I know on my GF's Epic 4G S2 Bluetooth was fixed with ICS but since the 5.0 and other players (all of them currently on the market?) won't get an official update and custom ICS roms mess up the camera it seems like a no win situation. Maybe I should just save more money and get a Galaxy Nexus.
maybe this is your solution ->http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rUB-S7BwMH4
As far as I know, all you have to do is flash a custom gingerbread rom

[ROM][GROUPER] SickleRom 4.1.2

The SickleSoftware team is pleased to present you with SickleRom.
This rom is based off of cyanogenmod for ease of porting to new devices. Its also based on 4.1.2 for that same reason. Something different about our rom however is we are taking the few good features from 4.2.1 and putting them into 4.1.2 so that even more devices can use them. We as a team, also don't agree with the way google took their new flavour of jellybean. So we hope you agree with ours, thank you for giving our rom a chance.
Change log:
http://review.sicklesoftware.com/#/q/status:merged,n,z
Source code:
http://github.com/SickleSoftware
Download:
http://goo.im/devs/SickleSoftware/SickleROM-ALPHA/grouper/SickleROM-ALPHA-V1.0.0.zip
NOTE this rom is still in beta and alpha stages per device we currently plan on adding a lot more features and reworking the way the rom functions and looks. All features by us or cm will also be toggleable. Consider this alpha release preview nightly
If you would like to be a beta tester PM me with a request to get access to our beta forums
Since it is based on 4.1.2, will it act correctly with the 4.13 bootloader?

[Q] What's the best ROM that is compatible with WiFi calling?

Wifi calling is a must for me, so I know I'm limited to sense ROMs, but that's OK I'm starting to like Sense 5.0. What are the best ROMs you guys use that keeps Wifi calling?

The m7 deodoxed 1.29 Rom recommended... above isn't anything different ,it's just a software update that fixed the capacitive button lag issue and a few other small things .
Stock is always the best option cause with most 4.2.2 Roms your not gaining much ..
Almost all 4.1.2 Roms are the same also . And look the same and do the same stuff ...To me roms haven't changed at all for the HTC one .. everytime I flash one and wait for a boot Into a awesome ui interface .. to my dismay they look same as the shipped rom..
It is always cool to have a reboot menu though...and some debloat... But themed sense roms... forget about it no such thing .. and that's what counts the most these days is a diff look .
I've givin up on flashing for the HTC one.. stick with stock .
Wifi calling is a solid feature and works 100% stock.

I am in the same boat as you. I've tried multiple roms. always experimenting with something. but at the end of the day, I come back to stock 4.1.2 because of wifi calling. but the 4.2.2 sense roms really did not give me much over the 4.1.2 sense roms. so for now, I am back on stock 4.1.2 rom, and added MoDaCo and the xposed framework. now I have a transparent status bar, a percentage for my battery indicator, long press on the back key to launch the menu, etc. And I have wifi calling. this will hold me over until a t-mobile 4.2.2 ROM becomes available.
Just another option you may want to consider.

Ya. I would just Google search for Maximus7 t-mobile htc m7. You should be able to find it np. Be careful to not install one based off of 4.2.2. You want a version that is based off Android v4.1.2 in order to keep your wifi calling
ARHD 9.4 works great with Wifi calling. It's 4.1.2 based obviously. I'm just keeping the radio updated until TMOUS releases a 4.2.2 ROM with Wifi calling that developers can integrate into 4.2.2 releases.
