Blown Away - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Been an Android user for a while now but never had a phone quite like this. First time on LTE and 49 MBps download and 15 MBps upload is ridiculous. The battery life is obviously great! Currently at 69% with 8 hours of running time! The camera, S-Pen, screen quality... its just all really great and it is truly a productivity device! Awesome! Cant wait to figure out all of the features of it as I know there are many that I haven't figured out yet!

I hate you guys who get high LTE speeds. The speeds here suck lol they're like 10-15Mbps. When I went to Maryland, I had about 35-45Mbps so I took advantage and downloaded movies quickly lol

Haha its just too bad that I live just outside of LTE coverage and I only get 3G at my house. But yea I was in shock when I saw speeds that fast in town. The lowest LTE speed test has been 6 MB/s down and 2.4 Up. It averages around 20 MB though.

I agree with you I have been doing newsgroups all day rocking out emails videos I just feel so productive with this thing. The consensus of the phone on forums all over the internet are basically saying that this phone is pretty bad ass..
I don't think I've ever seen an Android phone get this much attention and get this much praise after release after being in the users hands. Also the battery charges pretty dang fast that's really good my old note took a while. This morning at breakfast I downloaded a movie savages and ended up watching it went to nap. This phone is truly a connected multi use device. With an iPhone I got stuff done very easily but at the same time I couldn't do more advanced things. Like being able to take advantage of this is awesome band with we have it's hard to do with iPhone but with this Android I've already trip to 17 gigs on this thing

I can't imagine being limited on data and having an android. Its worth it but vzw is pricey but a great network I'm doing amazing speed too in a bad area

Me too.. LTE is insane. That's why I can't understand anyone on VZ getting a Nexus 4 and skipping LTE.
My battery life too is what I always wanted from an android phone.. It's just awesome.

LTE is great but eats through a battery quick. It's fun to surf the web and download songs and movies in a flash. I do miss that when i'm out and about but the H+ works fine.

No matter what I do it won't upload. It will upload just fine with the xda regular app. But the donate one won't upload. And everything is on my ext SD card. I uploaded to my server from my phone. So here ya go I couldn't get it fast on speedtest.net app but rarely.

I switched to ATT for the Note.
I hope LTE stays this fast.
It's routinely tested at this speed.

It wont. When I first got LTE in my area I was hitting 40 down but about 3 weeks later it was a constant 14-17 down which is still good.
I drove to Atlanta a couple weekends ago, about an hour and a half away and is the closest place with LTE to me. I did several speedtests and got an average of 20M down and 12M up, not too bad. I sure wish we'd get LTE here, not holding my breath because we just got H+ a couple months ago.

This one I just woke up to check my phone that in four hours I had no battery Loss!
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Nice almost 4 hours of screen on time in almost 17 hours and you still have 24% battery. Doesn't eat the battery like I thought it was.
How is it compared to the SG2? I mean, the UI in HTC eats a lot more memory than the Samsung's TouchWiz, but the HTC has a bigger battery. Have you had this much battery life/or more on your SG2 with the same activity?
I also own an SG2... But I don't think mine can last this long with 28% screen on time
Not bad. Can I ask what kind of phone signal you're getting in general? From the pic, it looks like maybe not the greatest, in which case getting that duration is especially impressive.
What ROM were you running?

Shuting off NFC made my service much better

I just wanted to let you guys know that after I shut off NFC my service (signal strength) seems much better (ex I did not have service in my basement with it on). It takes a few minutes though to see the result.
Just something you guys might want to look into.

Testing now..
*EDIT* while speeds are not increased, It does seem to hold a more consistent signal. Here at work I get very little 3G if at all. It typically keeps switching from 1x to 3g to no data where now it seems to at least maintain the data connection. Nothing conclusive. Could be placebo, could have some substance. Look forward to more people's results..

According to my non-scientific, and barely researched opinion, this is partially true.
NFC tags are actually powered by the NFC chip in your phone. When you touch them, power is transferred to the tag, and then the info is transferred to your phone.
However, I feel it is 99% impossible, to have a technology that is "waiting" to touch something, which will in turn activate it/something, not be using power while it's waiting. It seems like something has to be on, to acknowledge when the NFC tag is in range/touched.
I could be completely wrong, but I imagine there is some kind of power being used, even if it's miniscule.

Yah lol even though I bash Sprint for its crappy service and data speeds..... I've been with them for 8 years... And I'm poor
Network vision better be as good as they say it's going to be.. Because I am not going to deal with this much longer. Data speeds have been going down hill on a yearly basis. Now it's 28.8k speeds and should have never been allowed to get this bad
I wonder if the Sprint Executives use their own service.

thanks that wouldn't take for nothin...
That's it lol? The day I decided to stop forgiving Sprint for 2 years of useless data by switching to Straight Talk AT&T. And this wasn't even the worst speed I've had with them. As someone who used to work for them, I have to say that, at the customer service level, they're better than most companies. They have a nice selection of phones. Hell, even their coverage is pretty damn good. But their data speeds are complete garbage, even before the iPhone came over to their network. Speaking of that, I know they were forced to carry it because Verizon picked it up, but right before the iPhone came out, they doubled the upgrade fee and removed yearly upgrades. Why? Because they spent about $15.5 Billion on iPhone 4's and 4S's and are not going to turn a profit until 2015.

That's impressive. It's nice to see Android phones that can actually make it through the day. It's very much one of the selling points of this phone for me besides the insane hardware.
I saw in very early reviews that battery was pretty bad in 3D rendering games. Anyone with the device now able to chime in here? Is the Adreno 330 really that much of a battery hog or was it just unfinished software?
