Considering you can't write to the system with S-ON, I'm going to have to call shenanigans.

It does not, but all you do is restart the app. It only take 10 seconds, then you're ad free again. How often do you reboot anyways?

I could make one... I have run adfree and used root explorer to view the created hosts file... I see all of the edits.
I am afraid to copy this hosts file to the SD card and then boot into TWRP and flash it for fear of something going wrong. If somebody could confirm that this would be ok, and won't hurt the phone, I will do this, and upload the adfree hosts file. Thanks!

Didn't even think of that. I'll check it out.

You can accomplish it with the TWRP File Manager by moving the file AdAway creates in data/data to system/etc

More difficult than it needs to be, that's for sure.

Droid Explorer.
And how does one get it back? I tryed it and got the Android default lockscreen but did not like it. I want the HTC one back. I made a backup of the file and copied it back, rebooted but still im on the android lockscreen. I had to chmod 777 the file to delete it. Do i have to chmod it back to whatever it was? and in that case what was it hehe
I'm using Droid Explorer with Froyostone V1 on my HD2; can't seem to delete the file? No error message but just stays in the directory. Any ideas?
Ok, post above with CHMOD set me searching, and figured out how to open the unix terminal in Droid Explorer and I entered "CHMOD 777 /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk" and enter, and then closed the terminal window, but still won't delete...sorry but used to playing around in Windows and have to admit this is the first time I've seen a Unix terminal...
How do you guys delete the File from there?
I've tried several times but it fail every time...
You have to use a rootexplorer and mount the System as read write able.
Subfs App can do this.

I don't know. The problem is that you need write access to the system folder to remove or rename the file. I use normaly the App SUBFS it is a rootexplorer. The best is to search the market for a rootexplorer.
Cool, that was easier; didn't find SUBFS but the app I did find worked a treat (AndroidMate). Thanks...

Just be aware that if you delete HtcLockScreen.apk (renaming it will work as well) you will loose the ability to turn off your alarm if it fires up. The alarm set in HTC alarm app expect HTC Lockscreen to turn it off!
To have the original lockscreen and still be able to have alarms you need to use the original clock app. You can find it somewhere on the forum - once installed you can and probably should delete HTCWorldClock.apk.

Worked for me running [UPDATE][BUILD]25.09.10|Mdeejay FroYo Sense v. 2.3|2.10.405.2|[kernel: michyprima R0].
I find the HTC Lock screen has a nasty habit of unlocking before I get the phone out of my pocket wearing jeans or trousers. Well ... really it is me pressing a button and my fingers sliding vertically on the phone as I removed it This trick of deleting the package works a treat!

[BOOT ANIMATION] Glowing Honeycomb Atrix 4G

Removed the rotation on the Atrix 4G logo. Added some starglow with some shimmer. Reduced file size by half for faster, less choppy playback.
Made it in AE. 20 FPS.
Just overwrite the one in your /system/media directory. Set permissions to match original.

WOW!!! NICE!
Thanks, hopefully I can get the file size down without killing the quality.
And make the text 3D.
I am trying to get this on my phone but it says cannot paste here because the file system is a read-only. And I cant rename the current bootanimation.zip. Can I use CWM recovery to install this or will this be available as an option later?

If youre using root explorer than you will need to make the directory youre pasting to read/write. there is a button on the top of root explorer that toggle r/w and r/o. once in r/w you can paste and change permissions.

It may be because of that 3rd party app, not sure how it works and it may conflict with these. If you haven't uninstalled that app I would do so then try this again.

The link appears to be broken, does anyone else have the .zip?
Edit: works, awesome thx
this is by far my favorite boot animation, thanks so much for this
i have two questions though, one a lot of times when booting up the animation can lag slightly, is there any tweaks i can do to improve the performance or is this generally how it goes for everyone?
my other question is more of a request actually, I would like the version that you had mentioned that did not have the spinning 3d letters, is that still available somewhere? i didn't see a link
I assume it's because it's loading stuff in the background.
Edit: I just installed it, and yeah, it is noticeable. You can clearly tell where the AT&T Logo is supposed to display because it gets real smooth.
But if you look at the original loader, its noticeable that its also laggy. It's just less because there isn't much to look at. It's like if the Windows 7 boot animation lagged, you can't really notice since there is almost no noticeable difference between frames.
OMG I LOEV YOU NOTACH!! you've answered my prayers! now to dl and try this out
edit: wow looks beautiful man good job!!! still a bit laggy initially i wonder if there are some tweaks i can do
edit2: second and third boots were much faster, but still a bit choppy

Boot animations? Splash screens?

Now that most of us have s-off and custom recovery, we need some customizations to hold us over until the roms start flooding in.
I saw a Portal 2 boot animation and got the bootanimation.zip from the teaser thread, but flashing it did a whole lot of nothing.

I want that boot animation too
E3D
I'm anxiously awaiting some boot screens tailored for the 3d too. Cant wait
You can use existing boot animations here is how:
Find the one you want and download it
Rename the boot animation to Sprint_bootanimation.zip
Use root explorer to go to /system/customize/resource find Sprint_bootanimation.zip copy it to a safe place
Get back to /system/customize/resource and delete Sprint_bootanimation.zip(in root explorer you have to mount r/w)
Then copy and paste the new Sprint_bootanimation.zip to /system/customize/resource
The stock animation is 540 x 960
I have tried a few and it works fine, but i'll be waiting for some 3d anim.

It's the ending sequence / scene of portal 2.

Issues with AdFree, s-on

Have a rooted/unlocked device, but still S-on (too chicken to attempt the s-off just yet). From reading on xda, it sounds like Adfree doesn't work on s-on devices?
Any workaround? Tried a couple fixes from XDA that didn't seem to do the trick.
Does anyone have the most updates hosts file I can push into my device?
I had adfree working perfectly on my s-off evo 3d previously so it'd be nice if I can get rid of the ads on my amaze too.

I have no clue what the extension is but I pulled that file directly from my device, yes you push it into the system/etc folder, you can do so via a file manager with root permissions.
Reboot once successful for it to take effect.

Crashing after modifying fusion.apk

Ok, I have been trying for a while now to change the HTC lock rings and there is a really cool thread on here by mohit1234: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262990, anyway it has a heap of lock rings. Originally I could not put them on as he made them for a different phone model. So then I uploaded my fusion.apk and sent it to him. He made me custom lock rings with both the Earth and the Captain America Shield. So everytime i try to flash it to my phone nothing happens. So I made a copy of the .zip and extracted the fusion.apk and went to copy to the /system/apps directory with both "ES File Explorer" and "Root Browser Lite". But whenever I try to copy it the phone either crashes and restarts or says copy succesful and nothing happens. This also happens when I copy a droidsansfallback.ttf (modded with the emoji icons). But the font works when it says successful. Does anyone know what is happening? Mohit1234 also suggested to push using adb, would this help at all?
Do you have flar2's remove system write protection kernel mod installed and loaded?

You can find it here.
Without that patch, you can't muck about with /system
Total Crashing
Ok, I flashed a zip designed for my phone with the kernel you suggested, and my phone crashed twice (again) when copying the fusion.apk and the droidsansfallback.ttf doesn't even work when I copy it any more. Also when I plug it into my PC and choose "mount as hard disk" my phone crashes and reboots. So I am thinking I should just start again. I think I am going to flash hasoon200's "stock, rooted, deodexed" ROM.
I have tried to install this thing like 4 times, it is in my /system/lib/modules but I can't get it working. I have tried copying droidsansfllback.ttf modded with emoji into the /systom/fonts folder but when I restart it is reverted back to the old one. And seeing as I am new to this I can't decipher the instructions on how to install this.

Your problem I guess is due to the stock ROM that you have where you do not have busybox installed.
So I mod the updater-script so it can be installed without busy box.
