Safe or not safe - HTC One X+

Do you guys think it's safe to root my HTC One X+ right now? Or should I wait a little longer
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app

Root now. It's pretty safe (I mean, nothing is 100% certain) but so long as you follow directions, you'll be fine. Use this toolkit and you should be good.

Yep, works perfectly for my ATT One X+.
Just unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, flash SuperSU, and make sure the phone is well charged beforehand!
(I just bricked my phone yesterday)

Lmao how did you brick your phone

I discharged it to 0%.
I'm trying to fix it at the moment
I might as well send it in to HTC, their support team has "good ratings"

Im assuming you have ATT.
Upon rooting, make sure to stay away from anything that says INTERNATIONAL. If it does not state, make sure to check the posts in the thread, or post yourself to see if its for ATT or INTERNATIONAL. Most of the development in this subforum is for the INTERNATIONAL HOX+ so be aware and be cautious.
Other then that. Rooting is simple and not dangerous at all. Toolkit works perfect, MAKE SURE TO FLASH ATT TWRP RECOVERY

Ok thanks a lot, I'm probably gonna usr haboon2000's rootkit but I'm not sure which one to DL. The normal HTC one x+ version or the one below that which says HTC one x+ for evita (Rogers,ATT,Telstra)

Okay thank you, I just don't wanna brick my phone lol. I was this careful even when i rooted my Inspire 4G couple years back. You can't let your phone die when you root right?

Nope, root alone does no.harm! But you gotta have unlocked bootloader

What exactly does the unlocked bootloader do? I'm pretty much a noob right now. still learning but right now i'm a hardcore noob lol. I'm gonna go on HTCdev.com to unlock my bootloader now.

[Q] 1 week old HTC One X + bricked...?

Hi everyone...
I got a problem with my HTC One X +.
I'm from the Netherlands and wanted to play Generation of Chaos on my HTC.
But i coulnt play it because the HTC needed it to be rooted.
So from here it all started.
I started to try and do All-In-One Kit 2.1 But i coulnt get a token or something...
Well so i went on and got the ROOTBOOTV5.
I tried to install it but it failled to find my phone.
So i gave up... But when i starting to use my phone again i saw that the wi-fi coulnt go on anymore.
I resetted it to the factory settings and then my phone got stuck @ starting screen ( HTC quietly brilliant)
If i want to hard reset it my phone goes to Team Win Recovery Project...
Also it cant detect my phone with usb on Hboot it says:
Failed to open usb master mode..
Please help me out guys!
Im a noob @ this stuff so thats why its bricked...
Also my English isnt that great.
Thanks in advance!!
Um.... The play store's description for tthis game says there ARE issues with rooted devices, NOT that you HAVE to be rooted.

It's really hard to get a device S-Off, look at the HTC One X and One X+, they still don't have S-Off too.
Although you can get HTCDev unlocked, look at the tutorial by nloooooo to see how to do that.
:[
O well i really wanted this but I'll try my luck asking htc support
HTC support will definitely not get your device S-Off, they don't want that.

damn, this security thing sucks. but hey, if you want to remove system-apks /****ty bloatware you can do so by using aroma file manager in cwm. check "auto mount...." in settings and there you go
just be aware that removing the wrong apks may f*ck up your rom (oh, really?), so a nandroid-backup is recommended :silly:

They said they were going to close the gap but I honestly don't think so if anyone wants it done it's att and not HTC! They actually like people who help them with development progress and debugging etc ! If you font wanna unlock now just go through the steps and save your key from HTC and then unlock when ya want

Lets see...
Like the difference in s-off and unlocking the bootloader.
What s-off does.
What is hboot?
What is an RUU?
(Not a term but...) In case of an emergency how would I flash back to stock if I needed to? (Gonna miss Odin for that)
Those are the things I can think if off the top of my head.

Most of that is solved with a simple search. As for the back to stock thing we just got an ruu which is like a one click odin on the Samsung phones.

Unlocking the bootloader = able to flash custom recovery, roms, kernels.
S-Off = lets you flash all of the above, plus radios and downgrade hboot
hboot = underlying firmware of the device, without S-Off its not possible to downgrade this and you generally you want to mess with hboot as little as possible(or not at all) as there's a high potential for hard bricking your device if you do a command wrong.
RUU = basically an ODIN executable oh****button.
Most of the stuff is going to be the same across Android devices, however.
Thanks for the help. HTC seems confusing... Lol

I wonder if setting S-off would help the camera problem i am having with my One. I posted the problem a few minutes ago. My question is what is S-On or S-off mean? I saw when I was rooting my phone and flashing a custom kernel....
Can I ask what the two of you are even talking about ? I don't think you know .
No htc phone requires soff it's optional thing when available .And not always easy to achieve with HTC.You must gain an unlocked bootloader before you can root once you unlock and root you then can soff if it's been achieved for the specific device that one is attempting soff with.
It has nothing to do with needing it for root or needing it at all, soff just gives us the complete total control to flash kernels roms and a ton more of tech stuff.

You can't change soff or s on the way u think .It's not anything to do with what you are thinking.
Soff is very hard to achieve it takes great minds to do so . This is why HTC is greatly difficult to hack over the Samsung devices .
You don't need soff so stop worrying about it .trust me ,cause the HTC one is like the nexus models they work the same soff isn't needed really where as any other HTC soff phone is needed to flash roms in there entirety.
Without soff on most HTC phones you have to flash roms in pieces like boot.img has to be done from a pc before flashing the rom ,whereas the One can still do all that with s On.
