Overlapping widgets - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So since I've been using the new jelly bean OS 4.2 I've noticed how the wonderful widgets automatically move as you attempt to place 1 but I've also noticed that the widgets take up more space in the need some times. Try placing the analog clock on 1 of your screens and then place icons around it, you will see that if you could overlap widgets or overlap widgets and icons you could use your screen real estate more efficiently. No I'm not a developer but I think that if someone could make that work it would be a very useful app.

Give SSlauncher a try. You can move icons and widgets pixel by pixel and overlapp if you wish. You can get very nice effects with overlapping text for time and date
Sslauncher also lets you place icons on pages that link to other pages. Very useful if you have many pages and don't want to swipe all the time. You can even have a different wallpaper on each screen.
There is bit of a learning curve and the out-of-box (first setup) is terrible. Otherwise it is just your fantasy that limits how your UI look!

Questions should be posted in Q&A forums, not Development forums.

Yes for general questions I agree with that, but when you are trying to get something developed it seems more plausible to post it in a development page

Dev section is to be used to only post the ROMs and development related stuff (mods, etc) Isn't it?

If you read my post it is directly related to development, planning is a huge part of developing.

If you have it set to display wallpaper on lock screen, just change your regular wallpaper and it will change your lock screen wallpaper as well.
Cool rom bro, could I see some screenshots and a changelog?
No I'm not asking about how to use my phone..I do know how to change it to the others that came on the phone...BTW ADW dont let me get to personalize anymore anyway.
sparta31...would you like some cheese with that?

OK maybe I need to be a little more clear about my questions...
how about somebody telling me where the file for the lock screen is located and what I have to do to change the background and icons once I'm in the file.
I'm trying to make my wallpaper differnt from whats on the phone and would like all the icons to match
Don't be any more clear. Just put it in the right section. Q and A!

Woah, slow down there son. No need to lump us old school Kiss Army in with the ICP juggalo tomfoolery. Very few FANS wore the makeup ... just the band.
By the way ... have you figured out magnets yet?
I may be way out of the loop but aren't the ICP tools referred to as juggaho's?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I didn't write this thread for a debate on what juggalos do or don't do...I just want to know if the .apk for the lockscreen can be changed and if so how.
I didn't bust into your threads asking about your way of life,I would expect the same.
Just so you know, they're making fun of you because you didn't read the rules, and now you're just blatantly disrespecting those telling you that you're not following them by ignoring what they've told you to do. You're disrespecting everyone on this forum and demanding respect in return? You see the problem?
Thrown by Zeus himself
Got to agree ninja. I too am a Juggalo, love the pc btw, but you would friendly get a answer faster if you moved the thread to the general or Q&A section.
That being said... These self loving pricks in this forum can suck a bag of dicks. If you would just answer the question the thread would die. Or if you were just more polite about it I am sure he would have moved the post. But alas you decided to degrade and mock this guy because of the music he likes. You are all just so happy to bully someone because it is not you. Just stick to the forum and have your comments relate to android issues and leave the personal stuff out.
2 whoops and I am out like Casey Anthony.

Can't edit lock screen wallpaper

I tried to use the gallery and quickpic wallpaper but when I click set it doesn't do anything. Anyone having this problem, is there a fix?
BTW, this thread was salvaged from the ruins of my post your home screen thread lol
You didn't look hard enough..there's a thread for this in the themes and apps section... *Face Palm

What you talking about this thread isn't in the themes and app section lol

Only 3 home screen screens instead 5

As the title says, I only use 3 home screens, the other two are empty.
So, the question is if it is possible, or if are some mod somewhere capaple to put my phone with only 3 home screens
Do some search, there is a thread about modified GXHome with auto rotation.

I think this post is OK because this post is relating an app.

Are you particularly enamoured with the default Home/Launcher app? There are a lot of alternatives and, in my opinion, many of them are better such as Nova, ADW, Apex, Go
All of these let you pick how many home screens you want as well as many other customisations

Difference between Themer and Buzz laucher?

I have been running Buzz laucher for some time now and just recently got a beta code to use Themer. My question would be what are the differences? So far I feel they are quite similar with the exception of Buzz having more features because it has been around longer.
Thoughts?
I dunno but if you wanna give up that code, let me know! I'll take it!

One major difference that I found out was that Buzz launcher consumes over 100MB Memory(without any widget) and Themer takes about 40-50MB even on high end theme ...
Also even in Beta stage Themer is much smoother than Buzz (transition animations).
So I guess Themer has better memory management .
Also Themer will have more Quality and Detailed Theme Gallery than Buzz (Because there are many Themers who have their themes on MyColorScreen also unlike Buzz the Theme is validated before it gets published in the Themer themes Browser)...
u dont need to download any external app like UCCW/zooper etc etc
At a first glance, I asked myself the same question... they are very similar in form and function... But I was looking for the 'widget everything' option and looks promising.
I have a question. I've modified a theme I'm using now, if I switch to another theme then go back will the original theme I modified will it be the way I left it?

Export your current theme before changing to other theme. You can get it back at Themer > My Themes > Exported.
Differences are:
1) Our themes are 100% curated. Only the best get in.
2) Themer is true one-click. User doesn't have to do anything to make the theme look just the way the designer intended.

^^ This - 1 click is literally all it takes. No further setting up of widgets is required, unless of course you want to edit the theme.
Also, with the simplicity of themer, I strongly believe that it will gain a massive community behind it once it's generally released. Plus, there's a dedicated forum on our favourite mobile development site too
What's not to like!

I see the benefits. I guess there are a few features I miss over buzz that I would like to see added.
1) Infinite scrolling of both home screens and app drawer
2) scroll transitions (more fun than fictional)
3) a less intrusive menu button capture
I also think it would be great to have an option to retain the AOSP like play store icon in the top corner of the app drawer.
Edit: One more thing I would like to see is the ability to use the theme based icons as folders or standalone app icons via the long press>edit option
Until Themer can handle my Nexus 4 in full screen mode I will be using Buzz for my themes (although I recognize that Themer has better themes etc etc).

Hi,
More scrolling animations coming soon!
as above we live in hope, what really niggles me at the moment is that themer is now talking about the new update customise, looking at it,it will consist or partly consist via catergories, communication, cooking and engineering ????? now wouldn't solving the current problems be a more productive move on themers part ?

Hi alldroid,
You should know us by now We are well of these current problems, myself as well as others complain about them everyday, but those problems are immense. Bug and crash fixes are now arriving weekly, as they take up most of the developers time, and then whatever time is left goes to a small feature(s). Right now we're doing the best we can
I'd like an option where if you scroll the bar shows up otherwise there's no visible bar.
