I love my N10, but I miss my N7 - Nexus 10 General

The Nexus 10 is everything I expected and hoped it would be. I must say, though, that I underestimated how handy the 7" form factor was. I carried the N7 in my back pockets, cargo pants pockets, coat pockets. The N10 feels like a giant!
I won't switch back, though. The screen on the N10 is irresistable!

If the N7 had a rear-facing camera (yea, I use rear-facing cameras on tablets ) and a vibrating part for games, I might of bought that instead of the N10, but in any case, N10 is pretty awesome

Don't worry. Once the Nexus 7 drops to $99 we can all have both. The sad thing it that both is only $100 more than the iPad 4. Damn those sheep........ Haha

This is just a placeholder!
Cover Official Samsung
Here's the official cover galaxy tab........ http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/samsung-p6800-galaxy-66908p.html
Official Samsung Bookcase cover
I received my Samsung bookcover for the 7.7. I gotta say it's not as good as either the bookcover for the OG 7" or the 10.1. The back and the front are two distinct grades of material, and the front just kind of flops around. The cutout on the spine for the power button looks odd, and I don't know why anyone would want to power on the screen without opening the cover. Does the power button answer voice calls? You also have to keep it open to a fairly tight angle when using it to prop the tab for viewing or else it will slide and fall. The cover for the 7" was more solid and let you keep the tablet propped up in landscape mode at much wider angle. Another qualm is that the hardened edges don't cover the whole top right corner.
Still, the fit around the back of the tab is quite good. It does creak a bit but I suppose fitting anything around the thin form factor won't be perfect (as opposed to a case that the tab is fully enclosed in). The material quality is decent and it doesn't detract too much from the sleekness of the naked tab.
All in all, it's not a bad case and probably the best one available at this early stage. I'd just give it a C+ to the OG 7" bookcase's A.
To be honest, with such a wonderfully crafted, thin device as this is, I think that adding a case to it somewhat detracts from the overall design beauty. That's just my opinion though

I agree, sort of. But 1) I like to be able to have the device prop itself up to watch videos and the folding case works well for that, 2) Scratches on shiny expensive gear are worse than boiling puppies alive. The Tab pops out of the Samsung case easily enough if you admire the exterior.
the stock samsung case is very minimalistic and is very slick!
Is it worth the price?
I've been reading mixed opinions. Don't know what to think. :/
I'll be ordering it soon from Negri.
I will post mine when it arrive
Plssssss helppp needed then is the Samsung galaxy tab 7.7 coming to Singapore :'(

Don't think it's worth 55 pounds, as advertised, but all in all it's very nice.
I've got my as a preorder bonus with my 7.7, I really like the quality, the top right corner is really not covered (that's odd, seems like they though of a stylus over there...). Also I miss some smartcover-like magnetic lock, but that's not a killer drawback. As for the cutout for power button, I think it's made to prevent accidental turn on when closed, by pushing on the side. Also, I would prefer book-like openning not the current way.

why having the premium aluminium feel is so important?

I had an prime and with the so called premium feel and frankly i just don't see what is so great about aluminium, in winter it feels really cold in your hands, scratch easily, is bad for wifi reception. The cheap plastic don't suffer from this. So why every reviewer insist on samsung having to use it, frankly after testing the prime i rather never have anything with aluminium as the case. For me samsung should stick to plastic, lighter, cheaper and very durable, perfect choice for the nexus 10.

Fair assessment, and thats your opinion. I believe the plastic is cheap, and that the aluminum makes a tablet premium. Just my opinion. Fyi, the prime is the only aluminum that had the signal issue. The ipad, infinity and other aluminum tabs did not.

I prefer plastic. I liked the premium feel of the ipad2 enough to stand in line for two hours to buy one, and then hated it enough after 3 months to sell it and get a Tab 10.1. It feels great at first, but as you say, its cold and hard and not something I enjoy holding for very long.
I'd have to agree. I don't hate the aluminum/metal, but I think it's something more asthetic, and maybe holds up to abuse better. My laptop has a metal lid and keyboard surround, and it just always feels cold (or hot when it heats up). However, I have a GS3 that is the "crap plastic", which I find I prefer. In addition to not being a heatsink, it's able to be made cheap, yes, but also thin, light, and strong. Now, that's not to say a plastic device can't be made cheaply though. My old Nook Color creaks like...well, it creaks a lot.
Let me take a crack at it. It is human nature for people to make quick baseless judgements and some people are just too feeble minded to break this chain of thought and become more open minded about other methods of construction that are potentially just as good or better.
Jewelry is flashy glittery scratch and dent prone metal. Tools should not and, instead, should have a durable soft finish like my Makita powered hand tools. Furthermore, metal is bad since it degrades signal for transmitters and receivers like cellular radio, WIFI, GPS, bluetooth, etc.
If you put an iPad/Transformer/etc. on concrete it'll scratch and turn ugly. With Nexus 10 it's a non-issue.
I don't care what it is made of as long as it is SOLID. Metal, plastic, whatever, as long as there isn't flex I'm good.
In this application I'll take a light hard plastic over metal any day. This is something that is constantly going to be handled, set on hard objects, etc and coated, anodized, oxidized finished metals are easily scratched and scuffed the way these things are handled.

Pretty much.
If plastic is good enough for the 787 Dreamliner, then it's good enough for my 10" tablet of choice.

Too many people more concerned about looks and style then function and usability! Most iDevice users are so hung up on looks of the device is just ridiculous...
People who care that much about aesthetics generally buy their devices to show off not to actually use them. I don't mind plastic as long as it's well made.
That being said, I will NEVER buy a device with a glass back.

Plastic is a lot better if you drop it. Look at how the iphone and even the nexus 4 break if they fall. Better have something with some flex in it.

I don't know why people say "cheap plastic"... Aluminum is actually cheaper, if not as cheap, as the plastic used in our phones. Speaking of which, the plastic used in our phones and devices are much stronger and more durable than aluminum. It's just an excuse IMO.
I've always wonder why HTC fanboys only argument over HTC vs Samsung was the premium feel

Agree one hundred percent. Having had a prime and a infinity I can tell u from personal experience that aluminum well pretty for a week or so is horrible for function. I've never owned anything more prone to dents and scratches. They are meant to be used, not put on a shelf and looked at from afar.

>I can tell u from personal experience that aluminum well pretty for a week or so is horrible for function.
Putting aside the crappy Asus QC for the nonce, the difference in your case is the week of use--or more pointedly, a week AFTER you've made your buying decision. Buyer's remorse doesn't matter to the seller at that point. It doesn't matter to you (the buyer) either. Early adopters have intentionally short memory on bad buys, else they wouldn't continue to be early adopters.
Peeps saying "oh plastic case isn't so bad, it's the functionality that matters" are basically rationalizing to justify their (N10) buying decision. If it were the other way around, where iPad had the plastic case and N10 had the aluminum case, you'd hear plenty of crowing in this forum about N10's superior "premium aluminum feel."

I'll take my "premium" on the inside, thank you. The "aluminum" tablet looks like a back alley restaurant kitchen while the "plastic" tablet looks like a hospital operating room. Beauty as they say is more than skin deep.
And plastic doesn't look like this after a couple of months of use.

There are ways around the signal issue, but generally speaking building the frame out of aluminum does in fact help to block a wifi signal. The early Transformer Prime was not designed well enough to get around the inherent blocking properties of the aluminum. Aluminum is used quite a lot for EMI shielding in that frequency range, and would affect the 5GHz band even more so than the 2.4GHz. So in addition to costing more to build a tablet with, it also makes the design a bit harder. Personally, I prefer a quality ABS plastic build over aluminum
What is this rubberized back they are talking about? I hope its not the usual rubber coating that is used on plastic because those always wear off after a few months leaving an ugly mess. Definitely will need a full cover if that is the case.

Whos going to buy this phone? Seriously 7 inch phone?

So in 2010 7 inches was considered a tablet. Now this colossal phone comes along at just the same size being the screen size is 6.3 inches! Thats huge for a phone. Now just imagine with a case? Your carrying a man purse. 5.5 on the note 2 is as big as im ever going. My opinion. It looks sexxy as heck but the size is just to big. Or what you guys think?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
You have some flaws in your logic. 6.3" isn't the same size as 7" and if you consider that the bezel is very thin and is much thiner than that on a tablet, you actually have a considerably smaller device. If you put together a 7" tablet and a GM 6.3, you will see that GM is much smaler. You cant pocket a 7" tablet, but you can a GM. the attraction of GM is that it's the biggest device you can fit in a normal size pocket. I wouldn't use it as a phone that i carry around with me everywhere, but as a portable tablet for internet/games/email/videos - a very good option, imo.
I have to agree with Baladev. Being the owner of both a 7" tablet and the 6.3 galaxy mega, I can tell you that the overall size of the galaxy mega is way smaller than my 7" tablet even though there is only a .7 inch difference in actual screen real estate. The mega easily fits into my front pant pocket (and I'm sure it will continue to fit easily in my pocket when I get the case for it). I would more than likely rip my pants trying to put my 7" tablet into my pocket even with the case removed. The reason? the tablet's shape is more "squarish" than rectangular making it wider and impossible to fit into my pant pockets. The mega is more rectangular than square so it easily slips into my pant pockets. Also, the tablet has a much bigger bezel on all side (contributing to its much larger size). The bezel on the mega is thin.
I totally love my mega. Its very funny when you are walking around and people be like. Is that the note 2?. Hah. Nice specs. Hd video. Slim bezel. And great battery life.

I got mine today, I switched from the Galaxy Note N7000.
I must say I was a little worried that the Mega 6.3 would be too big! The actual phone isn't massive at all, the screen almost takes up the whole of the front panel. The quality of the screen is wonderful, the phone is also very light for the size and nice and fast too!
For the price I am more than happy!

Speck Stylefolio 12.2"

I picked up the Speck StyleFolio for the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2".
It will fit the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2" as well. The only issue, is that the location where the S-pen would be, remains open.
Everything else is great.
I had the Samsung flip case but I didn't like the lack of support it seemed to provide.
It looked like they just enlarged the 10.1" case with out doing any engineering.
The Samsung case seemed to sag to me. It couldn't support the large tablet correctly.
I really like this case.
The clasp ensures that your tablet is safe if you are walking around and accidentally drop it.
I've been using this for a few weeks now and just changed it out. It doesn't have a way to sit at a slight angle (15-20 degrees).
BTW-That cubicle looks really familiar...Texas Instruments??

That is probably the only thing I dont like about it.
I liked being able to put it at a slight angle and type.
I dont work at TI, it's actually about 30 min from there.
I use a similarly designed case by moko, a similar one for my 10.1 2014 (fintie), and the same style for my note 8 (poetic) I love the design, toughness and quality of all three, which i bought from amzn for about $10 each. I'd pay three times that if I had to.

How much does the Speck StyleFolio weigh?
It does look like a high quality case , albeit with a high-end cost

Not much at all. I've had this for about three weeks now I guess and I am really happy about it.
I really like the protection around all the corners and the clip that locks it closed.
It is too expensive for what it is, but I got mine at Verizon for 25% off with my corporate discount.

Moment Photo Cases for OnePlus 6T - Who's doing it?

I'm a big fan of my 4/3 Mirrorless Camera, but obviously I can't have that on me at all times, which is why we hold our smartphone cameras as so important. As a cool remedy, Moment is putting out a case with lens mounts in February.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/12/11/moment-photo-cases-are-now-available-for-oneplus-6-oneplus-6t-slated-for-february-2019/
That being said, anyone had experience with this brand? Seems like a cool idea, I've only ever had a cheap clip-on fisheye lens before for my phone, I wonder how much better this would be. I guess we've got a couple months before it comes out for the 6T anyway, but I'm interested!
I'm also excited for this on my 6T. I can't wait. I already shoot a Full frame Sony mirrorless body. This would be a great alternative to that when I don't wanna lug a camera around.

The moment cases/lenses for the pixel lineup are fantastic quality. There is no comparison to the cheap fish eye lenses out there. You'll be surprised at the quality of the lenses, as well as the weight of it. I purchased the wide angle lense and case for the pixel XL 2 and was very happy with the pictures taken with it..
I have/had the macro, telephoto, and anamorphic lenses for my OG Pixel. I traded the Pixel in to skim some $ off my 6t. The case was damn good as a case and a great mounting solution for the lenses. The lenses are stupidly nice for a phone accessory.
I'd be in, but jeez are those some hefty price tags.

Yeah, I agree. It's a bit high. Especially for a camera like ours. I'm sorry, it's a fine camera. But it's just that: just fine. To me, this type of accessory (especially at this price point) makes more practical sense for a phone that has a truly stellar camera. Like the one on the Pixel 3s. Or even the Note 9.
Yet, it's still a nice option to have as a 6T user. If you've got the extra cash that you can easily splash, why not? But to me, at this time, the juice is not worth the squeeze.
I did such a cover by myself with a 28mm adapter for lenses for 10€. So i can use whatever lens i want or have. Very easy.
