[Q] Weird new sound after unlocking - Nokia Lumia 920

Hey,
I installed some updates from the store (like extras, apn and whatnot) and now after I unlock my device it sometimes gives me a strange notification sound. I can't say exactly which one it is, because you can't select it for any message/notification type. It even plays the sound when I am in silenced mode.
Any one else with this issue? :/
bye, Smirny

I think one of the updates added a notification sound when you unplug the charger cable. May be that's what you are hearing

I noticed a weird sound when taking the phone off charge, Or did I dream it?

A recent Nokia app update has added a bug that plays a notification sound when unplugging from a charger. It has been reported to the relevant development team but I've got no idea how long it will take to correct it.
As for a notification sound when unlocking the 920, there is a setting for that under Ringtones + Sounds. But it shouldn't play if the phone is in silent mode so it could be related to the other bug which has also been implicated as a possible cause of some apps not working and requiring a hard reset to get the phone working properly again.

[Q] custom notification issues

so recently, since I tried the new G-Mail update (which I subsequently uninstalled), sometimes, my custom ringtones from Ringdroid and Zedge go from their original form to a weird ringing sound. This happened after the initial update to the new Gmail, and randomly happened 20 mins ago (long after uninstalling the gmail update).
Why does it do this?
please answer me. Has anyone else experienced this?

The file may play too long. When you boot up your phone do you get the same ringing sound? It plays your notification sound once it has bootup. If so, there is NO workaround you just have to change the sound to a shorter one. This fixed it for me

when I boot up the phone, I hear the tone its supposed to be. I have one Ringdroid tone I've made and had for a while, and last week downloaded 2 Zedge notification tones. The phone is rooted, but no mods. They've all worked before, but I'm wondering why yesterday the 3 tones all randomly turned to rings, at A (440 Hz) Could it be something on auto-end that shouldn't auto end (the way having gallery on there stopped my music?) or is it a bug?

[HELP] Touchpad keeps losing it's Sound

hello.
i have a 32 gb hp touchpad overclocked.
when i turn it on i have sound working good.
but after very quicly, it have no more sound at all (even when i push the sound + or soung - button, i see the sound logo going up and down but no sound)
and if i turn it off and on the sound come back.
do you know what can be the problem ?
Thank you
Happens to me ALL THE TIME. I just chalk it up to WebOS being completely unfinished. But then again it could be some of the patches I have installed, since I spent all of about 3 minutes without them.
Me too, I read that Making a call in skype will bring sound back.
Apparently it helps to disable system sound, keyboard and vibrate.
Happened to me twice more today. So annoying.
Happens to mine pretty much daily. I don't see a whole lot of *****ing in general about it though, mostly here and Precentral, which leads me to believe it's mostly "modified" touchpads with this problem. I'm thinking it's a patch or kernal problem.
It's most likely a problem with a kernel or patch. I have 3 16GB's, two stock, one modded, and none of them exhibit this behavior. Since all of you have modded yours, I suggest removing patches/kernels and see if the problem persists.

Install the Preware Linux App > Increase TouchPad Volume ( Lite)............
See if it makes a difference
I haven't figured out what causes it for me, but a simple solution to fix it without having to restart is to run a couple commands in xterm..
stop pulseaudio
start pulseaudio
Sound goes off (ANNOYING)
Why does the sound go off all of a sudden, I hate it, I can't even hear youtube videos, it requires a restart
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Finally , I had to disable the email audible notification (left the vibrate only). Now it has been OK for more than 1 week, before it will lose sound in a few hours.
Hope HP get's this resolved.
Thanks

If you install the "Advanced Reset Options" patch, you can use it to restore your sound...
Just hold the power switch until the buttons show up, then tap "Cancel".
Hi,
Advanced Reset option does not fix the issue for me (unless I select Reset).
Sound fails even if the only App I have opened since a full reboot is the email App.
Maybe one of the installed Logging patches is causing the sound to drop out? Maybe we should enable logging to see if the logs give any indication around what is causing the sound issue?
this issue was happening to me everything my touchpad would go idle for longer than an hour (super annoying) however I gave all the suggestions here a try and finally had luck with robrob777's suggestion! Turning my email notification sounds to vibrate has seemed to fix my issue hasn't happened in 2 days. Just wanted to say thanks robrob777!

There's an article over on precentral about fixing the problem, though it really isn't a fix, but rather a way of getting your sound back without a reboot. See it at:

fix-your-touchpad-s-lost-audio
Sorry about the format of the link, but forum rules for newbies prvented me from posting it properly. Since it obviously isn't spam, I am hoping I won't be in trouble for it.
It's complicated, and you might find a reboot easier, but perhaps some developer who's into patches will spot it and come up with a more permanent fix, either to fix the problem itself, or at the very least, to have the stop/start fix applied when the volume control button reaches max and is pressed again once or twice.
Update: It just became a little easier to apply the start/stop "fix". XServer, Xterm, and Xecutah just became available on webos-internals (.org). Just use Preware, select Applications, All, and the new stuff will show at the top of the page. Just download Xecutah and the other two packages will download with it if you allow it.
Update 2: Even easier...
After installing the X stuff, start Xecutah and create a shell script in the default directory you land in with Xecutah. I just used cat and typed it in.
cat >fixaudio
Here's what I put in it...
#!/bin/sh
stop pulseaudio
start pulseaudio
Then, fix up permissions...
chmod 070 fixaudio
(It's been a while since I used Unix/Linx, but I'm sure someone will correct my permissions choice if it's not right).
Then, when your sound goes away, start Xecutah and type fixaudio.
Even better... Use Preware to find an app called PulseAudio Restarter. Works well.

losing system sound after the latest Tmo update

I got this problem after applying the Tmo update. The system sound (the water ripple sound on lock screen, sound when restart/reboot) randomly goes muted. There is a slash across the system icon in settings/volume. There is no way I can turn that on again unless I restart the phone (set all the way up doesnt help since there is a slash indicating that it's muted). And this happened to me 3 times now. After restarting, the slash disappears and the system volume goes to Zero. Pretty sure the update causes this since I didnt have this problem before the update. anyone has the same issue?
P/S: all other sounds work fine, just the system sound messes up and now it works again...randomly.. gosh what happened to my phone (
Im suspecting the app "hide it pro" causes some kinda conflict since it also has the function as audio manager... not really sure...

[Q] System sounds muted (hijacked, perhaps?)

My Evo LTE seems to have been sound jacked. I don't recall installing any app that would take over sound, and the only updates applied have been prl updates. How can I find what's hijacked my sounds? I can't turn my ringer up past vibrate, and all system sounds are muted. Also, the ringer and notifications sounds are somehow connected. I installed Volume Control+, and when I turn up ringers, notifications goes down and vice versa, but neither one of them stays up - always on vibrate. And no, i'm not rooted. I have never been able to get the HTC bootloader unlock to work.
FYI - media sounds work, as well as alarms.
Help???
Well I don't have a clue what might be wrong with the actual rom. When I have weird problems, I just flash another one... so let's try to address the bootloader problem.
Do you know exactly what is failing? Can you get into fastboot USB? Having trouble copying the token? A little more detail on that would really help. There are just so many things that could be screwing it up, but without knowing what you've tried, it's hard to know what to tell you.

[Q] Sound disappears! No idea when someone rings me!

A rather annoying issue has started to plague my Z2 and I was wondering if anyone else has come across it?
For the past two or so weeks it I've been having a number of missed calls (important one as well), this is despite the fact the phone as been three foot away from me. I've not heard it ring. Which is defeat the whole point of the thing.
I've now found out that occasionally it seems to want to stop making any sound. No notifications, ringtones etc. During one of it's tantrums I tried to play a MP3 via Doubletwist and it simply skipped through all of the album in record time without a single sound being played.
The only way to rectify this PIA issue is to reboot the phone.
I've also noticed that the vibrate is also occassionaly turned off, which is equally annoying.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
My phone is on 402 and rooted.
Thanks for any advice.
Do you have any apps installed like "sd card fix" or something like that? An app that should bring back the Feature to write on sd card with other then system app? For me these apps are making similiar problems. After deinstalled, everything working as it should be.
Thank you for your reply!
I've gone through and checked, and I don't have anything like that on my phone.
My old Galaxy S3 used to play up at times by refusing to receive calls and I found out it was down to my ringtone which seemed to be 'corrupt'. A reboot and it was back up and running.
This though is odd, as I don't have ANY sound. It's as if the sound part of the phone has given up the ghost!!!
I'm not even sure what makes it happen, which is REALLY annoying. At least then I could rectify it. It just happens.
