I've just rooted my phone today... - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

and I'm having problems after doing it. Gallery is empty and states there are no items, any music appears in the music player...
I don't know what to do, I think it may be related to me killing the Media Storage App but I don't know how to enable it again, please some help,
thanks in advance and nice forum. :good:

It should be in Q&A section. I will try help. Go to setting-application-all. Find media storage and just push enable

Just type the 3 w before it, I can't link it since I don't have 10 messages. I can't find Media Storage in ALL Applications as I've said before.

Samsung Galaxy S II, that's why I posted here.

i thought you are using HTC phone:laugh:
Well mate, i dunno if you can t find media storage under application, maybe someone else can help you. Good luck

go settings about phone- post your rom version. The link you posted is incomplete it does not tell me what rom you posted.
I know it most be a custom rom as you had pit enabled.
Most roms do not use pit, therefore you may have to reflash the rom again to regain the missing apk or find someone who has your rom and ask them to get you a copy of the missing files.

Kernel Version
3.0.15-I9100XXLPQ-CL223505 [email protected]#3
Build Number FOPLPQ - Lorse.
After I rooted it everything went fine but I don't know why I force stopped Media Store and now neither Music Player nor Gallery work, everytime I open Gallery I get "No items" although when I plug it to the PC I can see all of my pics perfectly.

Go to settings-about phone
Write here everything that says there (model number, android ver., baseband etc.) or simply put a screenshot...

will I lose my apps?

I've done the wipe data and now I have the media storage on applications but still can't see anything in gallery nor in the music player, I don't know what to do.

Try an app called Scan Media on the play store, might work..

Since you have done wipe data, you have lost all your pictures and music, any thing saved on the internal sdcard is gone. You need to reload your pictures and music if you made a back up.
Next time save them to your external sdcard so they will be there after a wipe.

Unmount memory card and try to install it again you can remount afterwards.
I think my real problem is with the ads-blocker that dont let medscape get to update and download (They say this in their app page on google play). I can install the app but cant get it to download the content needed. So how can i deactivate ad-blocker or another way to get pass this situation?
Sorry if its a noob question, but i really would like to install ICS and have this app

It works for me but i do not use ICS .

Stated Fixes don't work
I've tried the above methods w/ no avail. Medscape still does not work offline. "Internet connectivity interrupted"
Nexus 7 running android 4.1.1
Rooted w/ Wugfresh
Adfree NOT installed
superSU # installed
busybox free installed
host files (in etc/ and system/etc) don't show anything except "host 127.0.0.1"
works fine w/ internet connection, but would like to have it without.
updates fine as well...just doesn't show offline content for some reason...
HELP!
Thanks!

If you have installed ad-blocker / custom rom / rom toolbox, then please remove and try again. However, when ad-blocker is the issue the app clearly mentions it and i am sure you must have tried it.
How i got it to work
Go to settings ------> developer options -----> uncheck 'Don't keep activities'
This worked for me and a friend of mine.
Hope it helps.

Why can it not just be flashed in flashtool normally?
Why format the sd card?
What is the app for?
Downloading and testing soon
Maybe try a new download site...your dropbox account will get a temporary ban if the traffic is too much.

Actually it is flashed normally, those 3 options which he mention are those 3 options which are selected by default every time when you flash full ftf.
Also, about format sd card, totally useless.
And about app, again IMHO useless(at least for this, don't know for other things that app can do), shows you language/language region/country, none of those tell you about your fw version, but about settings in your phone.
For example there is no fw for my country exactly, yet it shows letter for my country.

AOSP based ROM can't index gallery and mp3

Good day,
I was trying to fix a friend's I9100P and flashed with SuperNexus ROM. I found out that the sdcard files e.g pictures and mp3 can't be indexed. Meaning I can't access the media files on the EXTERNAL SDCard both Gfallery and Music App.
I did some research and tested the following but didn't work.
1. delete .nomedia in all instance both sdcard and internal
2. installed sd-scan app
3. ICS SDBinder app and followed Samsung Hierarchy
Any hope on this? I read that this is the issue in AOSP based JBs.
Don't blame me if I did not find this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842568&page=4
The title is not good searching...I just saw it on other similar thread.
I will update tomorrow since I dont have the unit right now.
Mod: PLease don't lock this yet.
TIA

Hopefully mate, I texted him to download the app.
Tomorrow, I will try to format his sdcard and probably do full wipe with sdcard on it.
Update: Rescan Media App did not fix the issue.

have you tried all the suggested solutions on my thread? If yes, any progress?
Update: Formatted the mmc via cwm works but when images from 360camera app is added the index wont work. So we decided to clean the mmc and dont use 360camera...
Right now any image produced by 360camera app causes the storage scanner to freeze.

Annoying gallery bug?

I'm currently running hyperdrive ROM but this has been happening even on stock. Every time I download an image from Google, it never appears in the download folder in my gallery. I have to restart my phone for it to reappear. I tried clearing data and cache but still no fix. Any help?

Do you have any task killers or battery savers running? Other mods? If the Media Scanner service isn't actively running, it probably wouldn't find the new images until it scans again, which happens at boot. Where is your download folder (internal or external SD?)
Download folder is internal. This used to not happen before. It just randomly occurred
Can anyone help please??

If you wanna change your directory to an external one, go to your browser, then settings, then content settings, and then default storage.

Go to the hyperdrive tweaks, toolbox, and make sure the media scanner is enabled.

Help! Just deleted too much with Titanium (Contact Storage,Phone..)

Hi guys, i'm going crazy with my Huawei y300-0100, after rooting. Running on android 4.1.1.
I deleted too much, as a stupid. Now the problem is i can't save any number in the "contacts" (no preloaded app version, can't find it anymore. I installed from play store two other apps, but can't save any number. One app,"contacts+" says "no app found to manage this action", while i'm trying to save a number..). The problem seems to be related to contact storage.
So, even if i'm a newbe (cause no backup done), i played with root explorer in system/app. Now find out i would need "contacs.apk", "contacts provider (this is storage, right?)", "phone apk", i don't know what else.
Hoping that with these file, i could install the storage from there. Or i don't know what to do.
Thanks a lot. Please help.
Edit: just lost phone signal.
Could be useful to flash original firmware? Don't know how..Please help

Ok just installed cyanogenmod 11 on my Huawei y300, from recovery, to try something different. Just learned by watching a video tutorial on YouTube.
Now it works again. The only thing is the battery life is very poor right now. Any ideas? Is really cyanogenmod?
Could be a good idea to install rom stock? Always from recovery? Thanks
